Okay, I'm not up on The Savage Dragon comics (henceforce referred to as TSD), but he met up with the TMNT in his and their comic, correct? And that was when the Turtles were published by Image, right? So... since Vol. 3 is not considered canon, and, I believe the TMNT's crossover with TSD WAS canon in the TSD comics... what the Hell is really canon?

You know, That's an interesting question. The SD TMNT crossovers did occur while Mirage was still publishing them....so, Those first initial encounters maybe cannon while the Image TMNT series has been omited.

The TSD crossovers were published by both Mirage and Image, switching between companies every other book. It was an interesting method.
when Peter (or was it Dan?) commented on what was "confirmed" canon, only staple Mirage issues (including the misiseries one shots) were included - so really it's up to you what to accept. Obviously, the Usagi stories, for example, fit in the structure of canon, even though they were not explicitly listed. I think, since the TSD crossovers include Carnage as a villain, had directoral input from E&L (unlike the Image series) and basically fall in line with Mirage continuity, that they could be included. Then again, I don't like TSD. ;)
It's canon IMO. Also, SD is one of the best damn books out there.

Personally, I put the Savage Dragon Crossover, Bodycount, and the Image book into a "Pocket Universe", which follows strictly, and closely, the events of TMNT Vols 1 and 2.
Canonically canon issues should really be limited to:
Vol 1, Issues #1-15, 19-21, 45-62.
All 4 Micro Series.
Tales Vol 1
Tales Vol 2
Vol 2.
Vol 4.

^ that list... bleh :P
come on, the Mirage crew books, at least, should be in there - like AC Farley's books. Also, I think the Vietch stories definitely belong in continuity, as do all the E&L shorts. And the Usagi crossovers (the others are debatable, but I consider them canon as well).

According to Peter Laird they are not canon, and that's who's opinion counts.

I know in Volume 2 Raphael made a comment about a Gargoyle coming to life, and there was a little dialogue box saying that it was referring to the crossover. Of coarse it's been like 10 years since then, so I'm guessing Laird could've denounced that moment from the continuity.
