Okay, well here it is.
Ladies and gentlemen, you are looking at the newest member of Advanced Media Network. I will be working as the site's historian on all things gaming (PS2 and Xbox included as well as all third parties). I'll be writing articles that intend to teach people the past behind the industry they love today. My intention is to give people a greater respect for gaming as a whole, and perhaps make them a little more hardcore, regardless of what system they own.
Now, what pray tell to I get out of this? Well, other than having my voice heard by over a million + readers a month, a big ass thing to brag about on my resume, ability to add imput to buyers guides and influnce how and where people spend their money, and the simple ability to get leaked news early, but I get one other thing.....
This makes me a working journalist. What do working journalists get access to? The biggest event of the whole damn year.
I AM GOING TO E3!
And I don't mean floor acess, I mean a freaking Media pass. I get acess to everything. Press Conferences, media breakfast, access to round table discussions (if I register of course), and all floor show stuff, PLUS the press partys.....oh yes, the press partys.
Here is the link to the first on site work I've done Advanced Roundtable #1: Gaming This Holiday where all the editors get together and wrote what we believe to be the highlights of this past year.
http://gc.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid...ments=&preview= (http://gc.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=3996&pg=2&comments=&preview=)
My real name is Lucas DeWoody, and all my work will be published under that. My first full work will be called "The Legendary Race-The History of F-Zero" It'll be up in a week or so. A month after that, you'll see an article chronicaling the history of Nintendo's Musical Heritage, then I'll do one on Star Fox....just in time for the launch of Star Fox Assult in February. That, and I can feed all you guys news as it happens a lot earlier.
Told you I'd make it someday. ;)

Way to go TMB! Hopefuly I'll make it to E3 this year, if my friend comes through for me.
That history of Nintendo's music sounds interesting... I'll have to give it a read when it's up.

I may be going too actually ;)
It's iffy, 'cause the people that could get me in are getting married this year, so they may not go, and if they don't, I'm not.

Holy Sh*t, we could have our own Technodrome Gamer's E3 Convention! That would kick more ass than believeably pooible!
BTW, if you hear some loser in the audience during the press conference screaming "SHIGGY, SHIGGY, ....", during the webcast.....that's me. :embarass:
I hope this works out for all of us.

Mesa so happy. Some little kid just sent me an email asking weather he should buy an Xbox or Gamecube because I'm one of they're editors. I sent him one of my prewritten Gamecube vs. Xbox rants, and he told me he would be using his Christmas money on a Gamecube. Now five days later, he sent me an email telling me how happy he is with Double Dash. Man, having this kind of power is daunting and cool. People are actually asking me for advice. YES!!!!!
*dances offstage* :D :D

Aren't you supposed to be an un-biased journalist TMB? Tsk. Tsk. ;)
ThirdMarioBro
12-26-2004, 10:11 PM
In public writing, yes. But if someone emails for a personal opinion, then it is as you see. ;)
All journalists are biased to some degree. If they wern't, then they have no love for what they do. Biased journalists just have to learn to cleverly hide it in they're writing, so that the reader dosen't know that in the back of their mind, they're being brainwashed.....a skill IGN lacks more and more every day.

True that. Personally, I like your bias...I have it too. :D

Azure, TMB IS going. He's press now. Lucky punk.
It's now looking doubtful that I'll make it. We'll see. I've already got a TON of stuff planned this summer (Origins, Gen Con, Pokemon Worlds....).

Damn man. I want to get to E3 so bad. Sneak me a pass TMB.
I'd murder an orphanage to go to E3. Man, the ultimate expo. This year, especially, when all the new consoles will be revealed. Ohhhhh baby...
ThirdMarioBro
12-27-2004, 01:50 AM
Well, thanks to the Nintendo Beer Incident of 2000, it's damn near impossible to get in. Microsoft almost had another one last year. I'm trying to find extra ways to get in, but it ain't looking good.

Don't kill anyone there, TMB!
Seriously, that's awesome. I plan on visiting the German Games Convention next year, it's not E3 but I think it has become the #2 biggest video game expo by now.

Ack, I should've been more specific in my post. I knew TMB was going, but I was addressing you and GK. My bad! :embarass: I just thought it'd be cool to see and read about E3 from three different 'dromer perspectives.
I really wish I could be present to see the unveiling of any new consoles...

I've said it once, and I'll say it again: I'll sell my first born just to go to E3 2005. I've been trying to swing passes from a few mates, but this whole 'living in Europe' thing puts a damper on a lotta stateside activities.
You must provide us up-to-date mini-webcam-feeds. You must.

Just for reference....
Nintendo Beer Incident of 2000 - They served budwiser at the 2000 Media Press Conference. A few drunks got into a fight, and since then the restrictions on E3 access and security have been nuts. Things started to get a little lax last year, but Microsoft almost had another one, and now 2005 is gonna be Fort Knox.

ThirdMarioBro
12-30-2004, 02:30 PM
How much we get paid depends on how well the ad banners do on making profit over the month. They usually do pretty well and that's devided amongst the staff, but I'm negelcting to mention something here......
A few weeks ago we started working on a press packet to advertise ourselves. We will not allign ourselves with Sony, Microsoft or anyone related simply because we all know what happened to IGN. They're slaves of Sony's bankroll. We sent the press packet to Nintendo's PR department. They actually responded, and said weither they would sponsor us would depend on how good our E3 coverage is this year. In other words, if we do good at E3, then they sponsor us, and we become simi-independant menions of Nintendo. Thank you God.
And I'm trying to find loopholes into E3. Give me time because I've never even had a chance to read the official rule book before. They revised all the rules thanks to Microsoft's booze fest last year.

Just becareful that you don't go to restricted areas that the press is not allowed to go in.Because some games companies don't want their games leaked to the public yet.
Thanks for the pointless necro-post. Thread locked.
