I just picked up the latest issue...weird...just weird ....
I dunno what the deal is with Mikey. Ok, the chick's holding a egg case...mikey's babies? That's what i might seem. I think she's framing his butt to get in major trouble, I think she did it with a triceraton but to save his rear, she'll say they're mikey's. I dunno..we'll see. His story's becoming more interesting to me.
And RAPH SPEAKS.

he's calm and collected now, he talking to Hunicutt and it just drops off after Hunicutt's suggestion of writing an apology note to the hospital for busting it up. Raph feels really bad about it all.
Hopefully next issue he'll be back there getting help....

So is he still dinosaur-looking or does he revert back to his former self during the issue? Is his vision of Splinter a factor and does it come back?

He's still that half Gamera half Carnosaur looking thing. I think this whole even is totally wacked out....
I sometimes wish I had the rights to the TMNT...Raph would have turned out totally different. ;)

*sigh* I haven't even gotten 18. I refuse to buy from the comic shop in town. The owner does NOT diserve the money... so my only option is to get them in Omaha, an hour away.

I know the feeling, Comic Gallery is over an hr away! We have a shop few min north of here, the dude keeps telling me the distributor never gives him TMNT when he orders it...so why does the Gallery get it but he doesnt? ugh
so I've decided of making a bi-monthly trip south for TMNT

I'm more excited about the bit with Casey. Hope to see him put on the mask and bust some heads.
Mike having kids with Regina could be...interesting. I guess it's the next logical step of character progression now that they've all grown up. But they just met and all, would've been nicer if it was with a girl he'd been dating for mare than...an afternoon.
I dunno, something tells me things won't work out that easily. What with the preview of next issue's cover having Mike getting kicked int he face by a cranky Triceraton.
Overall the book is still moving a little too slow for my tastes but at least we've finally had a little more progression that usual.

This is part that's giving me the hint that Mike's being framed and this styracoton (the pic in the back of the issue shows a styracoton, like what Regenta is) foot is attached to the egg's real dad.

Seems like a soap opera to me. Why would they do a Maury Povich moment (who's my daddy!) with Mikey/the Regenta/and the Triceraton?

picked up #19 and #17 (an issue I missed) the other day... and 19 has me really interested. I think it's mostly because of Casey picking up the mask, but I think Don's story is getting better too. Not really interested in Mike's story, but Raph talking was a definite surprise. Issue 22 sounds interesting..no Turtles.

Just what species is the Regenta anyway? I had always assumed she was a Styracodon. But Laird says in the letters pages that shes not, just that her bodyguards are. So I really have to wonder how that's going to play in to the whole thing with Mikey...

i second that elite. I want my Raphie back...man i wish i could find the comics....
While I am enjoying how they've got about 5 differnt sotries going on right now, I think this bi-monthly format isn't doing it any justice...didnt I hear somewhere they were goin to switch over to a monthly schedule with the book? If so, when?
The best part of the book IMO was when Casey picked up the mask again...time to start bashin in some heads!

Honestly, I think April's story is the most interesting, even though we haven't seen her in a long while. I'm not happy about Raph's story, but I am glad to see that he's finally gotten some sanity back. Mike's story started out great, and now it's just "eh" to me. I'm hoping it doesn't turn into a soap opera (it's more like a weird romance novel right now). I'm diggin' Leo's story, with the strange warriors and the ancient spells that Karai might be involved with. I just wish the pacing would move faster. Don's story is cool too, but I laughed when the Utrom took Don with him and left the others to rot in the experimental glass jars. If any giant spiders decide to eat everyone, I wonder how Don will feel towards this different Utrom tribe?

I finally got around to picking up this issue. It was nice to finally see Casey and April since we haven't heard from them in like 5 issues.
I think Casey finding his mask was the best part.
Tales is the one that's going monthly.
Ah..I new it was or the other...I woulda perferred it being the main comic though...but I'll take what they give us...

Truthfully, only Leo and April's stories are really grabbing my attention at the moment, and we don't see enough of them, IMO, but I understand why what with all the characters that need attention.
Maybe Mirage should have each of the Turtles in a 3 or 6-issue solo mini-series to get their "personal" stories to move along quicker. I'd buy 'em.

Oh you can believe your eyes, my friend, cuz The Franchise (and nWo Tech) are back and (more or less) better than ever! You didn't see the "Band is Back Together" thread in the GD?
Speaking of, without Castor Troy around, we DO need an influx of hot chicks in nWo Tech. Tell your friends. :D
But seriously, yeah, like I said before... if *I* were in charge of Mirage, and we had a lotta money to throw around, I'd start running four simultaneous 3 or 6-issue minis, one for each of the TMNT, each series coming out on alternate weeks. Weekly TMNT, how cool would THAT be? "TMNT" and "Tales" would still come out on a regular schedule, with "Tales" in its current, perfectly-fine format and "TMNT" having a bit more of a group dynamic to it. Meanwhile, the minis would focus on each individual character's story, in more detail than the current TMNT book is doing, and then everything would move faster.
I know Mirage probably can't do anything like this due to (probably) money, but c'mon, that would f*cking rule.

I finally made my long trip south to get my comics Tales 6 and TMNT 19 :D
I can only say #19 wasnt really informative April is still gone , Don is still finding out where hes been stuck for awhile , and well the Mike/ regenta situation that ,Ill have to agree with Buslady I really hope that egg is from someone else ...... but thats just my opinion ........I hope that the next issue will be better , Im glad that Raph is getting better and finally calmed down.
I still have to read Tales :D

I thought Tales was every other month, just like Volume 4? They just happen to alternate months, so we end up getting one TMNT book per month.

Tales is monthly starting with #7. So #7 will be out in January(or at least it's supposed to be), #8 in February, #9 in March, etc. They're doing it because there are issues already finished far enough that they can easily keep a monthly schedule.

I hope some of the Turtles meet back up soon because having each issue broken up to tell four different storylines is driving me nuts. It's going to take a year to narrate a couple of days' events.

Issue 19 was excellent. All the storylines are finally being explained, and everything is coming together.
Peter Laird rocks, he still does. I couldn't care less what people think of him as a person, but his writing is indeed great. It does hurt that the comic is bi-monthly, but otherwise the story isn't dragging at all, it only feels that way because you have to wait 2 months.
Excellent issue. Can't wait for the next one.

You lot are lucky that you get the TMNT comics... not of my local shops sell them :( Stoopid New Zealand :(
The Raphael subplot seems to be moving rather slowly. They all do, to certain degrees (which is understandable, since Pete is telling five or six individual stories within a single bi-monthly series), which is fine. We haven't seen the 'vampires' since Raphael was turned into the beastly mega-turtle he is now, and logic says they'll play a part in returning him to normal...
The Casey ending was downright chilling, and I can't wait to see what comes next. Part of me really wants to see him back in the mask and busting heads, even though it'd be giving in to a demon he put away fifteen years ago.

Wow, it'sbeen that long since Casey put away the clubs?

I think so, yeah. He stopped the vigilante thing just before the "City at War" arc, which is when Shadow was introduced. I'm assuming Shadow's about 14 or so now, so it really has been some time.

Didn't Laird say Volume 4 took place 15 years after Volume 2? I'm not sure how old Shadow was in Volume 2, but if someone can fill us in it shouldn't be too hard to do the math.
Aztec General
02-06-2005, 02:08 PM
No it's 15 years since the whole saga began (Vol. 1 #1). So the TMNT are now 30, Casey and April are in their upper 30s, and in theory that would make Shadow about 12-3 but she's clearly older than that. So there is a slippage there.
Mecha Cow
02-06-2005, 02:59 PM
Hmm. There's something like that in the very first issue as well. "Twenty years ago", Saki was seven years old, then "Some fifteen years ago", he is eightteen (Maybe even older).
Oh well.

If they're in their 30's now, then shouldn't be called 'Mid-life Crisis Mutant Turtles'?

CyberCubed

Volume 4 is 15 years from Volume 1 #1.
In Volume 2 Shadow was about 2 or 3 near the end of it, Volume 4 must be around 10ish years after Volume 2 (I'm assuming that at least 5 years went by between Volume 1 and the end of Volume 2)
So that would make Shadow around 13 or so, maybe 14 if the time is only more or less...
But yeah it does seem like she's 17 or something.
