What do you recommend?
My all-time favourite manga is probably 20th Century Boys by Naoki Urasawa. Here's a synopsis copied from www.mangascreener.com (you can get the scanslations there too, it's completely legal):

When Kenji was a child, he and his friends made up fantastic adventures, where a terrorist would wreak havoc upon the world and how they would stop them.

Fast forward to present day where Kenji's band failed and now he works at a convenience store. He takes care of his niece because his sister suddenly vanished after being involved in a peculiar cult.

Things change when one of his childhood friends supposedly commits suicide and when terrorist attacks begin to occur in exactly the way that Kenji and his friends imagined them to. It all somehow seems to be tied into this new cult.

The only explanation Kenji can think of is that one of his childhood friends is the mastermind behind the terrorism. Kenji feels responsible for the disasters though because the majority of the evil plans were originally his ideas. And what's the link to his missing sister? Can Kenji and his friends save the world for real?

Check it out, it's beyond awesome. Another great Manga, also written and drawn by the genius called Naoki Urasawa is Monster. It's also available on mangascreener:

Dr. Tenma is a Japanese man working in Germany. He has it all, incredible medical skill, a great job, a beautiful fiancee. He becomes disillusioned with the hospital politics though, when one day he's ordered to forgo operating on a critically injured man in favor of someone who was more famous. After this point, he decides he will do what he thinks is right, regardless of politics.

One day, a young boy and his younger sister were brought in. The boy had a bullet in his head, an operation that the doctor knows only he is capable of completing successfully. But soon after a politician was brought to the hospital and the high ups in the hospital want Dr. Tenma to leave the boy to operate on the politician. Dr. Tenma decides that he'll do what's right and save the young boy's life.

The young boy's operation was a success, but the surgeons operating on the politician fail, prompting his life to fall apart. Dr. Tenma is passed over for a promotion and his fiancee becomes cold to him and eventually leaves him.

But soon after, strange murders begin to occur, ones that benefit Dr. Tenma greatly and though he becomes the #1 suspect, they have no evidence against him. But it seems that the boy whose life he saved has a hand in things, and that he is much more than he seems...

That much for now. Please post some info on the manga you recommend, otherwise it's useless.

I recomend the first 6 volumes of Yu-Gi-Oh. Forget the stupid anime (although original is FARRRRR better), the manga is hardcore. Knives, guns, death, rape, gambeling, Russian Roulete, poison, murder, and suiscide. Very fun to read.

Either that or the Zelda Mnaga. It rules.

The best Manga I've read up to this Date is BLAME! by Tsutomu Nihei. It's about this guy, Killy, seemingly a boy, who must search for network genes. He needs them to save the Megastructure. It needs to stop growing.

Well, that probably is the most stupid review there is , since the manga really has that atmosphere of its own. Killy doesn't talk too much (he hardly says anything at all), if you're looking for explanations, look good. Even the chapter titles sometimes help. But you'll never fully understand everything. It's just great.

The manga is completed in 10 volumes + NOiSE (a prequel). Available at www.omanga.net

I have those, and they own. Back then, they didn't solve their problems with dumbass card games, but with actual violence. And Yami Yugi wasn't some egyptian god yet, he was just a psychotic gambler. Why didn't those volumes get animated?

You have the Zelda manga too? Cool, I know of a site where you can read EVERY ISSUE that's ever been released. If anyone wants them, PM me.
EDIT: never mind. The site is now offline.

My favorite manga series so far would be Angel Sanctuary, beautiful artwork and good story. It may be a little offensive to some concerning religion though...

I think they actually got animated but for some reason they weren't brought to the US and Europe (probably because they couldn't advertise the card game with those eps). BTW I also read those volumes and I think they're lame. The art is bad and the plot gets repetitive in no time.

Fushigi Yuugi. Anything by Yu Watase, basicly.

1. Love Hina: Greatest romance comedy ever, forget the badly dubbed, inaccurate anime version

2. Dragonball: Rememeber when DBZ was regarded as one of the all time classics before the anime turned it into a name synomounous with the words "gay" and "repetitive?" read the Mangas and realise why it was once accalimed in the first place

3. Hack:/Sign

4. Nadesico

5. Yu-Gi-Oh

I guess it's blasphemy to say that but I still think only the first 17 volumes are great. I didn't like the Frieza saga and I hated the Cell saga. I liked the introduction to the Buu saga (with Son Gohan as the Great Saiyaman  ) though because it was more like the early volumes.
Some good Shonon Manga I'd recommend are
Eiichiro Oda's "One Piece" (a story about a boy called Luffy who wants to become Pirate King)
Nobuhiro Watsuki's "Rurouni Kenshin" (about a former Samurai assassin who seeks redemption for his sins)
Masashi Kishimoto's "Naruto" (yeah, yeah I know it's totally overrated, it's still good; it's about a 12 year shinobi who has the power of a mighty fox demon)
Takehiko Inoue's "Slam Dunks" (about a giant dork who starts playing Basketball to impress a girl, only to discover his hidden talent)

Yu Yu Hakusho is a pretty good manga the stories in Vol.1 do not go by the episodes they had different stories. Such as a boy learning to be brave and not being a sissy over the death of his dog was a good story but Yusuke in Vol.1 almost scared the crap outta me but nontheless it is good :)

Um, well, it's about a girl named Kagome who lives in an ancient japanese shrine.
One day Kagome, while sitting on the edge of a well in the shrine, is sucked in by a centipede demon. She is taken around 500 years back in time and stumbles upon a half demon called InuYasha, who is bound to the Sacred Tree, also in the shrine. InuYasha had been bound to the tree fifty years ago by the priestess Kikyou. Kikyou beleived InuYasha was trying to take the Shikon no Tama, the Jewel of Four Souls. They had been very close until something tore them apart. Kagome accidentally breaks the jewel into thousands of peices which spread over the land. InuYasha and Kagome, as well as their human friends, Demon Slayer Sango and a perverted monk named Miroku, and a young fox demon named Shippou, search for the peices of the jewel.

I really like the style of art, too. ^^

I have 22 volumes of Inu Yasha at home and I really like it. The only problem is that it gets veeeeery repetitive after a while.
