It's been a WHILE snce I've heard anything about this game. Last I heard was probably from E3. Anyone know anything new or interesting about this title? It's been like 2 years in the making and I'm actually kinda excited about it (especially since you can play as Falco! \m/)

IGN had a couple of new videos of it. It looks very good, the graphics are sweet and the game is back to its shooting roots.

It's coming out Valentine's Day. I hope to God they put LAN in it. If they did, it could be the best damn multiplayer shooter of all time. Screw split screens. I want Warp Pupe Tuneling over the internet.

I've heard that it won't have LAN from the official Japanese website
it'll still be a great game though

Nintendo's got a hell of a lot of making up to do when the DS online service launches...
God, I hope it crushes PSP in America. Otherwise I hold no hope for the industry.....until Revolution. Gah, I gotta stop reading those damn magazines.

I'm not a very big fan of Star Fox. It's ok, I mean I own the SNES and 64 version, and had a good amount of fun with both, but it's really nothing special.

I got a pretty decent amount of enjoyment out of the N64 game (played it a few times, mostly mulitplayer, thought it was fun), but I've never played the SNES game, and frankly I don't much care about Fox. The connection I have with the series is a result of me falling in love with Falco in Super Smash Bros. Melee. The ability to play as him is pretty much the main reason I'm excited by this game.

the Star Fox games are the best rail shooters ever (and yes, I've played Panzer Dragoon)
Star Fox for SNES was awful, and Star Fox 64 was too short. I beat the demo unit in the mall. The kid behind me was bugging me and I smacked him like a naughty puppy. I never played the newer Star Fox game for GameCube because it's not really my style anymore.

SF64 is short but has alot of replay value. It takes a while to get all the medals and unlock all the secrets

the SNES SF wasn't really that good but it was pretty impressive for it's time. Plus it has the best music of the series

SNES Star Fox was fun as hell. Yeah, FX Chip looks like sh*t, but I don't care. 64 was fun as well, and Adventures was just Zelda with a fox, but it was also teriffic. I love them all, and this one looks to have WAAAYY more replay value than 64 did. I'm preordering.

What do you think was so bad about it? I loved that game, the graphics were incredible for the time, it was very fun and challenging (I still can't beat freckin' venom on hard mode :tgrumble: ) and as you said, yeah the music rocked. That game is probably one of my all time favorites.

I don't think SNES Star Fox is bad. It was great for it's time, but if you look at it now, it seems like an average shooter and SF64 is superior to it in every way (except music)

heh yeah, the graphics are a little more than dateed these days :P But it was a much more challenging game and had that old school game badass appeal to it. Like, when one of your teammates dies, he's dead, 64 was more cartooy in that respect plus they had those annoying cheesy voices :dead: And I wouldn't call it average there were some really exceptional levels, like Titania(?), and the venom high way rocked. But I do like the direction this new game seems to be taking, things finally seem to be starting to work out for Nintendo.

true. It did have some great levels. I especially liked the trippy secret level where you fight a slot machine with "When The Saints go Marching In" playing in the background

The original kicked ass. Yes, flat shaded polygons won't fly now, but does that make VR racing any less fun? How about Virtua Fighter?
Star Fox is one of those giant tech demos that was made well, and is still fun to play. There's also a lot more to it's creation then most people know. I'm writing a 10 - 12 page article about it that will go up around the time Assult launches. Keep this in mind....>Star FOx was one giant accidnet. That little Shiggy interview in the back of the SF64 player's guide dosen't tell 1/10 of the story of just how big of a random accurance the whole franchise is. ;) I think you guys will like this.
And yes, the original's music still owns all. I've heard some techno and orchestrated versions in the videos. This game is gonna own. I like the fact that they kept the Dinosaur Planet influnces. It gives the series depth and character.

TMB, lets put SFA stuff in with Virtual Boy, and never speak of it again. God I still have nightmares from how horrible that game was. I was all upset about Rare leaving until I played that game, then I cheered Ninty for getting rid of them.

SFA is not that bad. In fact it can be pretty fun but it's also incredibly boring at some points. Except for the graphics it's nothing special. If you want to play a good Zelda clone buy "Beyond Good & Evil", it's not flawless either but it's definitely more fun than SFA.

I have a Virtual Boy ;)
It wasn't an earth shattering title, but the music was extremely cool. Otherwise it was just Dinosaur Planet with Starfox characters thrown in at the last second.

The only Nintendo systems I lack are the Game and Watch units, an NES, and a Virtual Boy, and I'm only gonna be able to find one of those in this town for a reasonable price ;).
I...have a Virtual Boy. It's somewhere around here, or I think I let a friend borrow it and he hasn't given it back yet. :|

Okay, I went back and watched the Nsider DVD again, and saw the trailer. Now I suddenly can't wait for this game. The first "true" Starfox game made for no reason other than to blow stuff up. No Rumble pack to test out, no polygon enhancing chips to demonstrate. Just blow sh*t up. I want this game.

Have yo heard some of the soundtrack from the E3 videos? It sounded fully orchestrated. I'm sure that wasn't inserted music either because the song was the Cornarian march from Star Fox 64. Namco apprently went all out on the budget.

Namco likes to outdo themselves. (Last Tales game, anyone?)
It's good to see another Star Fox game--hopefully, this will be a little more difficult than the last SF game. I still hate Fox's outfit. :dead: But, there's hope. No Andross this time (least, that's what NP says . . .)
Anyone anticipating Katt Monroe/ Bill Grey?

Is there anyone else who has...no intrest in this game? I've been looking at some stuff for it, and it just doesn't seem interesting at all. I'll try it of course, but it looks pretty mediocre to me.
I never liked the Starfox games other than Starfox 64. That game kept me busy for hours, even though you didn't even need an hour to beat it. I just don't see him as an action character without his ship.

I always liked the dog fights levels. You know where you fight the Wolf guy and everything. Those were really fun, and that one Independence Day type level with the pyramid. That was another awesome one. If there are lots of levels like that then I'd be pretty damn happy and I'd probably buy it. I'm actually gonna go look at some more stuff for it right now.

Ah ha, well you should be happy then. Those were the all range levels, and they kicked ass. This game should have whole cities of them to fly around in. It's gonna be fun.
*edit* And Voltron, they're going to bering a new member to thr Star Wolf team.

I love Star Fox games. I never had a Super Nintendo (some day, I WILL get one, mark my words 8) ) so the first Star Fox game I got was Star Fox 64. I had no idea who anyone was, the general plot or anything, but it was an amazingly fun game and I grew to love the characters. Star Fox Adventures is one of my favorite GameCube games. It has awesome graphics, a great story, awesome music, and it's an adventure game w/ some of the shooting/flying thrown in (I love adventure games :D ) oh and it has dinosaurs in it, that's pretty cool. I'm looking forward to the next Star Fox game.
