Well, here we are. It's the last day of 2004. It's been one hell of a year for everyone with all that has happened. Just speaking of the forum itself, we were all happy back in Janurary, then the war broke out in May, we all moved, then all pulled together to save it in November, and here we are at the end of the year together again in our home board. The world has become a nasty place lately with tidal waves, and all kinds of other crap that's depressing. 2004 was a great movie year, and one of the best gaming years in recorded history.
For me, the highlights included E3 (duh  ), and the Nintendo DS. Spiderman 2, kicking the sh*t out of some cousins who really needed it, Trek Expo 2004, selling Gamecubes to about 63 people in the online and real worlds, and a lot of other crap I can't remember this early in the morning.
What has made this year special or memorable to you?

Hmmm. Lets see. Green Day finally following up Warning with American Idiot. The release of the original Star Wars Trilogy on DVD. Spider-Man 2 <3. Various videogame related stuff, Nintendo DS, Halo 2, Paper Mario. There's probably more IRL stuff, but it's of very little intrest.

2004 is the year that I joined the Technodrome Forums... so I have that to be grateful for. :)
Nothing really happened to me this year, other than passing my college courses. Just random materialistic things that came out that I bought was all that was exciting. Here's to another year that will hopefully be better.

Well, to be honest, for me 2004 pretty much sucked. I lost family members, and there were many health related issues in my family this year. I'll be quite glad to get to 2005.
But there are the good, too.
I made many more friends. Some, very special ones (you know who you are ;)), after I joined the Technodrome in June!! (Wow, June!!) Heh.
I'm grateful for the health we HAVE had in our family, the good health, that is. And that. Like my grandfather coming out of it okay.
I'm thankful for my family.
I'm happy for... my man. With as much grief he causes me, and as much stress, heh... And as many tears... He cares for me. He makes me happy. I'm thankful... for that, at least. And for as long as we have it.

Ahhh 2004 what a year it was
Movies:
For movies this year I have to say this year sucked. I dont remember every movie but from all I remember there werent alot of good ones. Kill Bill 2, Spiderman 2, Hellboy, and Hero. Maybe I overlooked a few but I disliked alota movies
Video Games:
Nothing exciting here, the DS came out but I dont want one right now anyways. No games came out I wanted badly. Hall the best game I bought this year was a older game from 2002
Events:
Alota crazy stuff happen espcially around the election. So many arguements ad debates. And now this Tidal Wave, the excitment never goes away
The important stuff, My life:
This year was the best year of my life for a few set reasons alone. I found myself this year. I no longer feel liek I have to guess at who I really am. I also perfected my taste in music and now I know exactly what I want and dont want. Ive advanced my intelligence, as much as it can be for me haha, and my Photoshop skills. I can proudly say what I want to have for a future job. There was not much drama this year, the worst thing that happened was when I got sick with the flu for 2 months. And lastly I found the person who I want to be with, and who wants to be with me. We share so much in common that we think alike sometimes. And yesterday she told me "It seems like we can never spend enough time togther" Thats exactly what I had been thinking :) No ones ever said that to me
Overall:
2004 was a great year for me as a person I learned much. For media it sucked and them reality shows didnt help me think any higher of them either
Ive been here since March and I like this place. I was crushed to see it shut down but I am glad we are all back and I thank who ever donated
Lastly the person who made my year was my friend Robbie because hes the one friend who is always there for me and I feel like I can tell him anything

I'll remember this as the year I got into DC comics. I started the year out as a novice and gradually bought every TPB and back issue of importance I could find. Now I'm pretty much an expert on the post-Crisis universe. Cool.
And I started all my webcomics this year. Mim Tits, Ladybug-Man and that Japanese Transformers manga I translate for www.tfarchive.com So I've been keeping myself busy.
So yeah, the year wasn't that eventful. Well, not in a good way. Some imbacile ran a red light and smashed my '90 Mustang into her going 40mph. She didn't speak a word of english, either. So I got a new car out of it, a '98 Mustang. Problem is since it's a newer vehicle my insurance is through the roof. That sucks.
I got a new job this year and I've pretty much just been going to my classes at NOVA and working. Nothing special. Planning on taking a vacation to Tokyo next summer and try out my Japanese (been studying for 3 years now). So 2005 has something to look forward to.

I'm 19, lived here in Springfield VA for my ENTIRE life. Even worse, I've never left the east coast of America. The furthest south I've been is Florida (to visit my Grandparents once) and the furthest north I've been is Delaware.
I want to travel so bad it isn't funny! I've been studying for a while, Tokyo should be fun. It'll be good practice before I join the JET Program and head over there to assistant teach english in a couple years.
Oh, don't even get me started about taking a trip to Japan. I'm going to back out of this thread like there's no tomorrow.

Sup NoVA buddy. I used to live in Burke and Springfield back in the day. There are far worse places to be holed-up, in my opinion.
2004 was my like-Caine-in-Kung-Fu year: I just went from town to town, met people, and got in adventures. I visited all sorts of places that I may never have the opportunity to for a damn long time, like Venice, Paris, Berlin, Munich, and Brussels. But despite all that, it was a fairly boring year. 2005 looks far more promising.

Although this really didn't mean that much to me, the death of Rick James was somewhat on my list. I like his music but im not heart broken over it. Maybe if it was MJ then I would but he's got a load of problems. Nintendo DS, Halo 2. Being a Canadian, no hockey was horrible for the last part of this year. That's all I can think of right now.

Awww.....
Only a few events sprinkled 2004 to make it tolerable for me. Not much good came out of the year on my end.
I did meet KROW, though. The one thing that will actually make 2004 "Memorable" for me.

Oookay. I've re-thought mine.
2004 was not as bad as it seemed, upon further reflection.
It was the year I really became a 'woman', in different terms. I became more 'girly'. Wearing pink (forbidden since I turned 4.). Really figuring out how to do my hair... Hehe. Discovering that, yes, I DO like makeup. And can even APPLY it!! And clothes! Oh, I am addicted to shopping. (Trust me, I have someone you can ask. He'll tell you. ;)) Hehe.
I'm not the thinnest woman, but... I'm liked for the way I am. Even been told I was beautiful and gorgeous (something not heard from anyone but family members and their friends before). I'm more comfortable with that, with myself now.
I may not like my jobs all the time (okay, I hate the one) they afford me to be able to pay my bills. While I cannot move out yet, I still have the ability to buy many things that I want (no not all, I'm not spoiled. Heh. ;)).
I really came into my own, figuring out who I am: Physically, mentally, sexually.
While I've discovered much about myself that I never thought I WOULD figure out. So, in retrospect, really, 2004 wasn't all that bad. No time in which you learned something is a waste.
So, come on, rethink this. How was your year, really?

2004 was the year I had to work. Not just a job you do in the evenings, but real work. In a real office. I had two jobs, allthough they were in the same building. The first one had to do with real estate, selling it and generally taking care of people's concerns about real estate. That job was great. I loved it. I had no problem getting up at 6am, I had no problem with working until 7pm sometimes. It was cool. I had responsibility and I was being respected for what I did. People liked my work, liked the way I was doing it. Also, I didn't have anger problems anymore at that time. I hardly ever got into fights and was happy. You know the feeling when everythng is OK, it couldn't be better.
Then, in June or July I changed office. Fully motivated and very curious of what was ahead of me I changed into the "social service" office. There you are supposed to help people, either by talking to them and/or giving them money. In the end you are supposed to help them get a new life which they can live on their own. At first, I had to realise that we don't talk to people. That was insane. How can you find out what was wrong with the people when you don't talk to them? Insane... Well, so I went on and talked to the people. I was knowingly disobeying orders so that I could fulfill my "mission" the I was satisfied with it in the end. So the meeting room is most of the time occupied by either me or my boss (female, I shall call her D. in the following). D. is a nice person, very female appearance and behaviour (yes, she is very spiteful at times) and I like her a lot. She doesn't give too much about bureaucracy but obeys it without complaint. The there's the big boss, mayor of the town I work at. The bastard. He was the reason why I hated my job there. He was the one that I could kill. He was the one that made me xerox things for him in the middle of a meeting. The bastard. And then he has the nerve to yell at me, because I don't listen to him. But, allthough D. likes the boss (she sort of sees him as a graddad or something), she has to agree with me that he is a sexist bastard. You can easily tell by the percentual amount of young women working there. Not that it'd really bug me, but it's something I noted, while I was doing one of my brainless-jobs. Jobs where you don't have to think, jobs where you just put Paper A ontop of Paper B and then pack it into enveloopes. I became aggressve then. By late october I almost went for my boss. The bastard.
But in the end, I must say that working is a lot better than school. You have more liberties, but you have bosses.
That was the professional part.
Personal...hmmm, my best friend, something like a brother to me got himself a girlfriend. A suicidal, stupid, high-pitched-voiced slut. She betrayed him once which doesn't keep him from being with her all the time. We hardly ever see him anymore. He has transformed into a moron. He listens to Eros Ramazotti (some italian romantic song singer) and he like things like "her, her music, working for her and being with her". We don't see him anymore. We all hope they break up soon, because she is ruining his character, she's ruining him.
But all in all, I must say 2004 was a great year. Lots of new things to learn, lots of people to meet and lots of places to go.
ahh...2004...the begining of the end...
about the start of last year or somethin' i was moved from my wonderful home in America, USA to a dry, desert rockland formally known as Australia. with my friends left behind and i was stuck with nothing, i took up channel surfing in my depresion. in about April i was hooked on the turtles and i was craving for more. i joined up here in about July/September and instanly fell in love with the place and everyone here *emotional sob*
while all this was going on, i was moved into a posh school with high fees and weird teachers. i was considered a "freak" by some people when somebody found a doodle of a turtle in the back of my german book. others couldn't care less and became my friends, (yeah, including Tash from the GD forms) i became more interseted in acting, visual arts and writing. MAJORLY interested in writing. the computer started to over flow with idea's for stories, pictures and whatever other things my mind had in store after the September holidays. Nothing didn't really happen until xmas
basically the whole year was a sea, a sea for each year, a part of the ocean which is my life. the unpredicible nature, the highs and the lows and the movies, all will come in this year. and if life wants to destroy what's left of my life, i say bring it on ;)

Wtf?! Random thread resurrection, and even more random violent daydream..... You guys must be super bored.
The release of the original Star Wars Trilogy on DVD.
Various videogame related stuff, Nintendo DS, Halo 2, Paper Mario.
I remember how we all had bootleg Star Wars DVDs of the original trilogy since for some reason Lucas refused to release it for years until 2004  Back when it was super important to own movies and shows on DVD, man what a waste of money that was.
Nintendo DS no one thought it'd be good because of the PSP, only after the DSlite and Mario Kart DS came out did it start becoming sold out.

Man 2004 takes me back. I was 18, I was in my freshmen year of college.
Online I spent all of 2004 spamming IGN's The Vestibule board as I was racing to 100,000 posts. Also most of the other time spent terrorizing serebii's forums and places like toonzone. I had actually only just registered here in the drome on December 2004 even though I lurked since 2002, so I wasn't even known in this place yet. Can you believe back in 2004 nobody on this forum knew who I was yet?
Besides that in terms of videogames...Gamecube and GBA were my main focus here. Basically playing Mario Sunshine, Zelda Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Pikmin, Smash Bros. Melee, Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire and Fire Red/Lead Green. F-zero GX was also amazing and Mario kart: DD. In the fall Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door would come out and Prime 2. I was a Nintendo only gamer back then and just between Gamecube and GBA I had my fill of games. I wouldn't play games like Metal Gear Solid 3, Halo 2, or any other PS2 franchise till around 2007-2008.
Also 2004 was when we were in the second season of the 4kids TMNT cartoon. I remember people complaining Turtles in Space was too long even though it was only 5 episodes, not to mention the infamous reveal of Shredder as an Utrom. You can look through the archives of the 4kids section, people were PISSED when Shredder was revealed to be an Utrom.
2004 was when I started to get back into animation, I had gotten past my early teenage years of "it's for kids" to a "i can like whatever I want" teenage phase. It was Teen Titans that got me back into cartoons and from there I started digging into the DCAU and also posted on Serebii and Toon Zone at that time  Liking Pokemon during that time was not "cool", in my opinion still the best time to like Pokemon before it went mainstream again.
My gaming forum to go at that time was either gamers.com or 1up.com whichever one was popular at that time.
At this time I wasn't really gaming anymore since I had "outgrown" it, I just kept up with the news from time to time, I just loved music much more and of course collected worthless DVDs at that time, no figures or anything. I was avoiding 2k3 in 2004 since I didn't have a way to watch it, it wasn't until 2005 that I first got to watch it.
I would just go to concerts all the time at this stage in life and High School was still my day to day.
