I'm a fan of the paranormal: Ghosts and stuff. A while ago I brought up a thread on Astral Projection and Out of Body Experiences, now I bring up the subject of Ghosts.
Has anyone here encountered one, or had an odd experience?
I have one!
A few years ago, I was in my room downstairs with my door closed. My sister was in the room next to mine, at the time it was the den, that door was also closed. I was annoyed with my mother and was kinda sulking in my room, when all of a sudden there was a loud knock on the den door. It did it two or three times, loud enough to be done by a guy...but both of my parents were upstairs.
The stairs are right next to my room and they're very creeky, you can't go up those stairs quietly no matter how hard you try (trust me, I've tried!). So no one had snuck down the stairs or up it during this time (even if they had they wouldn't have been able to do it fast enough!), plus my parents had heard it too. Immediatly after the loud knocks my sister yelled "yes?" and then opened the door to discover that no one was there!
Another time (not ghostly but still creepy to me) I had a horrifying dream; it frightened me so bad that I woke up, turned on all of the lights in my room, paced around the room for a while muttering to myself (don't remember about what), then went back to bed with the lights still on. I woke up a little later and, having forgot the whole thing, was suprised to see all the lights on!
Back with the ghost thing, I think my dog sees something in the house. Either that or he's lost it! (I love my baby, so I hope he's not nuts! :D )
Anyway, there has been numerous times where I'll notice my dog staring at a wall or empty space in a room like there is something there. Hell, one time he was in my parents room staring at the chair next to their bed. Then he started wagging his tail! No one was in there!
Anyone here care to share thier creepy experiences?

H...I had a ceiling fan fling a blade into the wall 4 inches above my head. Does that count?

Since when are ceiling fans made with knives/blades? I could use some of them...

I meant the wooden fan blade itself came loose and went flying.

that's a phenomenon known as tinitus. It's when you've been exposed to too much loud noise.
Most of the things that happen to me are probably mind games, but...
1. I get a cold chill feeling at the top of my basement steps.
2. A lot of times when everyone is asleep, I think I hear my mom call my name, and when I reply back, I get nothing in return.
3. When I close my eyes and listen to music, my mom uses the lights off and on technique to get my attention so I can take my headphones off or turn down the music. Well, at night, sometimes when my eyes are closed, I think I see the lights being turned off and on. When I go to respond, I get no reply. Really odd.
I’ve had a few strange experiences with Ouija boards in my days. :)
I just deal with these things when they happen.
The most recent was the changing water temperature in the shower. Not too odd, given the plumbing of our home, but the lit candles in the room went out at the same moment.
And of course there are cold spots where it should be warm, and unexplained noises. But none of these things are more than temporary annoyances and rarely happen more than once.
And if you ask my parents, they'll tell you that there are spots in our house where I become invisible. Literally. Scares the daylights out of them to suddenly see me in a place they've been watching for five minutes only to hear that I've been there the entire time.

I used to sleepwalk when I was a kid. One time I'm told I went into our garage, opened the door then got on my bike and started to ride off. God only knows what would have happened if my dad hadn't ran after me and dragged me back inside. That's weird, I guess.

We have lots of weird stuff happen here.
First off, we got my aunt's clock when she died. A big grandfather clock. That thing wouldn't chime for ANYthing. We gt it fixed multiple times; still didn't work. One day, my brother says that he misses my aunt in the room whith the clock, and, a few minutes later... it started chiming.
Also, after she died, the first family get together after... there was a toy that only on by motion-activated, you know? Before we sang happy birthday, it went off a few times, like someone was walking past it a few times.
There have been many times when I've had other experieces. I've had my hair pulled when crouching down, only to turn and see that there was no one in the room with me. I've been woken up by someone pulling my big toe (in the living room) only to see that no one was there then, either.
...Funny, most of the stuff DID happen in the living room. Hmm...
At my one grandma's house, they've had a ghost there. A man. They talk about seeing him walking around a lot. The story I remember best is when they said he went running past the living room, and down the stairs to the basement. Heh.
I know that there are more, but I need to think of them. This is a very interesting thread!!

My neighbor down the street says that he's got a few ghosts in his place. One man in his barn, a woman who walks down the stairs at night, and a couple of ghosts that look into the hall window at night. They sound creepy...

One experience I had was in London at the Royal Lancaster Hotel. My great aunt and I were treated to a wonderful dinner as part of the package deal when she purchased tickets to "The Phantom of the Opera." It was while at this hotel that I started to get really sick. I was much too excited to eat, and I kept slinking off to the ladies room in hopes of getting better. I was by myself while in there, and as I rested my head on the closed toilet lid, I swear I heard the sound of one of the other stalls unlocking! I lifted my head to listen for any movement, but the next sound was a squeak from the main door swinging open by itself! I got out of the stall and looked all around. The room was dead silent and empty. I started to head out the door and ran into a woman, yelping as I collided with her!
My sister had a real eerie experience while traveling with our great aunt again. Well, the way it worked was when we turned 13, we got to choose anywhere in the world we could go with her. My sister chose Hawaii in 1989 and I chose London in 1992! So, getting back to my sister's experience, it happened while she was on her cruise ship. Our great aunt left her in the room to go play Bridge and she recalled they were located quite a distance from other occupants on board. Our great aunt said she'd leave the key with my sister and knock when she returned. About an hour or so later, my sister heard three, faint raps on the door. Thinking it was her, she got up and opened the door, only to get blasted by a cold wind! She looked down the dark corridor both ways and saw no one! Oh, and by the way, the cruise ship was traveling through Pearl Harbor when this happened! :D
My aunt (or mom's sister) had some weird stuff happen to her while living on Oahu. Her then husband, Todd, used to abuse her and my cousin and whatever presence was in the house, it did not like him! It used to hide things from him, but then of course, he'd blame my aunt and she'd get an earful of it. One night, he and my aunt were downstairs asleep and my cousin (just a newborn at the time) was upstairs in his room. A little music box played on his dresser to keep him quiet until it finally ran down. Well, this made my cousin start to cry and his parents looked at each other going like, "You get up," "No, it's your turn!" "I don't want to get up!" Neither of them had to get up, nor did they want to. Before long, they both heard the sound of footsteps going up the stairs. Not natural ones, but more like, step, slide, step, slide and then they heard the music box turn on by itself! Later on in our own house, my cousin had to tell us this while in the dark and my sister and I fled the room. Good times, good times.

OH! This is my hobby! I love looking at this type of stuff!
My friends and I are going to go out on a little expedition to get some EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). We just got a hold of a digital voice recorder, and we'll lug around a good old fashioned tape recorder to compare.
When it comes to ghosts though and the paranormal, you need to be very careful before jumping to conclusions. For example, Ai's mom calls him at odd hours, and he sees lights flickering on and off. These are just the mind playing tricks which is often the case in hauntings.
Jo Dawn seems to be describing a classic case of spiritual attachment. This occurs when the deceased haunt a certain object like a piece of furniture, a picture, even a car. If you get rid of the haunted item, the haunting usually ends with it.
I'm not saying that people are or aren't haunted; I'm just suggesting that things aren't always what they seem.

Wow invisible that crazy crazy
Hmmm weird stuff weird stuff
Okay so theres this old story about this creepy house in the moutains and there was supposed to be a ghost in it. So me and my friends in a attempt to get people to shut up about it went up to the house. At night even just to further prove them wrong. They claimed at Midnight a women wearing a long white dress walked down the spiral staircase. We go to the house by car ride and got there around 11:55. We wait until Midnight and see nothing. One of my friends was scared some weirdo might be living there and he might attack us so we should leave. We turn around to leave and something grabs my friends shoulder. He lets out a big scream and turns around to see the ghost. I turned around to look and I swear I saw it to. I about pissed myself in the process. I had NEVER seen anything like that before. We all ran back to the car and left quickly. Needless to say we kept the story to ourselves for the most part but that was so damn creepy. And the even creepier thing is that we all gave the same description of her. I asked my friends seperatly just to make sure and they all said the same thing. Tall light skinned girl wearing a wedding dress. Gah! The thought of it still haunts me to this day :ohwell:

Oh, man, Spitfire, you should make a story out of that! Or just make a whole creepy story and include that incident with other weird stuff combined! I'd read them! My friends know I'm into the paranormal and have bought books for me. One TMNT gal, Roseangelo, sent me a book just called "Ghosts" and it's a wide collections of stories written by some famous writers. Some are really creepy and I stupidly find the time to read one or two always before going to bed!
Hey, does anyone here watch "Ghost Hunters" on Sci-Fi? It airs every Wednesday at 9 p.m. I think they've gone into repeats now, but I heard this upcoming Thursday, they're going to have a marathon of the series. I have my likes and dislikes for it. When they actually do paranormal stuff, it's really great, but there's the reality-type TV part where they're arguing amongst themselves and I can do without seeing that. I'm off this Thursday, so I might watch it...or not! Hehe...

that's a phenomenon known as tinitus. It's when you've been exposed to too much loud noise. White noise is also used in the Ganzfield experiment. It's where input from the outside world is reduced by placing halved ping-pong balls over the eyes and by masking external sounds (covering subject's ears with headphones and playing white noise). It's a state of mild sensory deprivation. White noise is also dead air, such as on a radio not picking up any stations. And now, hehe, they've made a movie out of it with Michael Keaton. It's looks really creepy! I want to go see it!
I haven't watched Ghost Hunters. I prefer Proof Postive, and especially Beyond Belief. I love Beyond Belief because it gets you involved, trying to guess which stories are real and which are made up. Really shows you how weird real life can be. :o

The first weird ghost thing I have is that I was helped across the street by my grandfather. I really wanted to go to school but was too young to cross the street by myself. This guy helped me cross and I went on to the school. A few years later I was looking at pictures and found the man in one. It was my grandfather on my dad's side. Weird part is that he died the day before my dad's third birthday.
Second is that my mom is haunted (kinda) by the ghost of my baby sister. My mom will be sleeping and she will hear the sound of a young girl laughing and playing in our house even when my mom is the only one home. Also once my mom was sick and she thought that I came home and helped her to bed. She got freaked when I called the house and she realized that I had not been home. We figure it is the spirit of a baby my mom lost about 10 years ago.
As for weird stuff not relating to ghosts I had a pane of glass from a window fall three stories onto me and my mom.

Wow, Hono'o Hime, that's really creepy, but also good you got help crossing the street. I have personally never seen a ghost materialize before, but have heard stories that have literally made my skin crawl! Oh, I watched a little bit of the "Ghost Hunters" marathon last night and caught the Pitch Lighthouse episode, or the one I missed when it originally aired. The best thing they caught on tape was a chair moving by itself when no one was in the room. The set-up camera caught it all! It was freaky, but I was hoping they'd catch something bigger on tape. After the marathon, they were supposed to show a preview to "White Noise" but I didn't catch it. I had to go to bed early.

Awright. It's morning, and I feel ready to share. Let me tell ya a story...
My family and I love going up to the mountains and staying in condos that are near a lake or two. We go fishing, hiking, and most of the time, we're relaxing in front of the fireplace and enjoying each other's company. Three years ago, we planned one of these mountain trips. Myself, my parents, aunt, uncle, and two cousins checked into a three story condo (but it wasn't very big... just tall). After pulling up, we began unloading all of our stuff out of the cars and carrying them into the condo. We were all pretty excited about the week ahead. I distinctly remember following my mom and uncle into the condo. We were the first three to enter, and upon doing so, I immediately noticed that something felt wrong. Couldn't explain it, but the feeling was so prominent. I'm sure my uncle and mom felt it too, since the three of us stopped talking and just glanced about. The place felt so still... uneasy. It was as if the condo was holding it's breath. I just disregarded the feeling and started unpacking.
The condo was separated into three floors. The third floor was nothing more than a tiny loft with two bunkbeds, and a sink with a mirror. This was where my cousins and I stayed. The main floor was the second floor. It was a living room and kitchen. The first floor was the location of two bedrooms and two bathrooms. This is where my parents and aunt 'n uncle stayed.
Now, lemme describe parts of the condo that freaked me out. The first thing that was brought to my attention, was the fireplace. It was large, gray, and made of stones. Something drew me to it, and in the middle of all the gray, was a small statuette of a nun set on one of the protruding stones. The nun was holding a banner that said "Blessed be this house." For some reason, it sent shivers down my spine. A lone nun standing in the middle of a mass of stones. Weird. Next thing I noticed, was a wall covered with old (B&W) and new (colored) pictures of what seemed to be a family. Lots of people, and many of the pictures taken around the area. For some reason, despite the many smiles depicted, that area of the house always made me feel sad. Depressed. It was as if some unknown tragedy was hiding behind those smiles, and I was feeling it.
Our first day there, a chipmunk camed down from one of the pine trees outside. There was a very small balcony located near the dining room which had a lot of firewood. The chipmunk sat on a branch directly in front of the screen door, inches from the balcony. And what did it do for the next three hours? It sat out there and squeaked. Loudly. For three straight hours. The creepy thing? It was staring at all of us the entire time. I dunno if it was being territorial, but something tells me it wasn't. After it was done squeaking, it sat there and continued to stare for another couple hours. Then it left and we never saw it again for the rest of the week. I know it sounds ridiculous, but looking back, maybe the animal sensed something and was giving us a warning.
Now, for a few creepy events that followed...
First night we stayed there, we all went to bed early, tired because of the long drive. Both my cousins called top bunk, so I chose one of the bottom ones. I didn't really care because I'm a heavy sleeper. I sleep like a log and it usually takes some effort from my family to wake me up in the morning. However, something was wrong that night. I feel asleep fast enough, but something kept waking me up. I woke up six times that evening for no apparent reason, and each time I awoke, I felt as if someone was staring at me from the entrance to the loft. My eyes always darted to that place after waking up, expecting someone to be there. But no one ever was. This event was to repeat itself for the whole week.
The next day, my parents and aunt and uncle asked my cousins and I if we had stayed up late and were walking about in the living room. The three of us said no. We were in the loft all night. The four of them heard multiple creaking noises in the floor boards above them, as if people were walking or running across the living room. Everyone disregarded the noises except for my mom, who seemed very disturbed.
The second night, my cousins and I stayed up late playing card games on the kitchen table. Around 1 in the morning, my dad came up and asked us if we kept pacing in the living room. Of course, the three of us were sitting at the table. Very, very odd.
The light in the hallway downstairs where the bedrooms were located often turned on by themselves. My mother couldn't stand it any more, and the third night, she and my dad moved to the living room and slept on the couch. In the morning, my mother claimed that she felt someone walk past the couch towards the bathroom, but no one was there.
I was taking a shower one night, and went to my parents bedroom to find a comb. It was then that I heard the creaking noises, and the time between the noises suggested footsteps. I went upstairs to see my family still sitting at the dining room table, finishing dinner. My two cousins were upstairs in the loft. No one was walking around the room.
The whole week we did nothing of our usual routine. No hiking. No shopping. Only my uncle and dad went fishing every now and then. But for some unexplainable reason, we were all fatigued. Everyone felt tired almost all the time. People were constantly taking cat naps or falling asleep on the couch. I've read that spirits need energy to manifest themselves, which is why room temperatures can suddenly drop... or why people feel tired and sleepy. I honestly believe that something was sapping our energy.
This madness continued for an entire week... And believe me, I was absolutely thrilled when the time came to leave. We haven't been on a trip like that since.
I'm just glad I didn't see any physical manifestations, or I would've stayed in the car for the entire vacation. :embarass:

I once had the feeling that someone was in my old house (which was built in the late 1800s) and I couldn't sleep because of it. After about a week or so, I started to take action ( I mean, who likes "things" walking past your bed while you're asleep) I took a baseball bat and put it next to my bed, easy to reach. Then during the night, when that thing walked past my bed again, I grabbed the bat, stood up and looked in the direction where the thing walked. I said something like "Either you show yourself this very instant or piss off forever". I always thought that it might be my dad who snuck around to scare me or something, or my brother. I only got to the ghostly thing a few years back. Well, anyways, it never showed up again.
Ever since then I've been very interested with ghosts and things alike.

Last ngiht I slept over at my friend Alli's house with my other friends Jessi and Jeanne. Jeanne has a huge crush on this kid named Patrick. Patrick's mom's brother in law is very sick. He was hospitalized, I beleive. Patrick's mom had been really jumpy and stuff because the hospital was supposed to call her back, or something. Today, we got a call from her and she said that starting at 4:15 am she kept getting phone calls in which when she answered had no repsonse. The caller ID said it was Alli's house. Alli and us were watching Shrek 2 around 4... and everyone else was asleep.

That was a very cool story, Az! Right out of a mystery novel! It would have exciting to have seen a real manifestation, but it'd also be something you wouldn't have wanted to see! I'd want to go back with a medium and see if she could find out if the place really is haunted. It probably is, but there'd have to be more evidence to prove the theory true.
Okay, after work, we all went to see "White Noise" in hopes of getting spooked. Not too bad, but there are several of those "Boo, Gotcha!" scenes. Mom kept grabbing my leg and my sister cowered next to me a few times. I expected something different from this movie and I'll just say it's really bizarre. As some of you know, the movie is about EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon), the art of capturing spiritual voices on tape. The usage of it in the film felt a little inaccurate to me, but if I explain, I'd be spoiling it for those who haven't seen it yet.

Wow crazy stuff guys I wouldnt want any of that to happen to me
Though Ive had a few run in with some creepy spooky things myself
One Easter I went into the living room to see if I could catch the Easter Bunny! I was like 10. I caught a look at something that made me yell so loud I woke up the neighbors. Imagine a Easter Bunny that looks like it was some kind of dead zombie thing. all bloody and GAH it freaked me out. It just looked at me and walked though me. I was so scared I didnt sleep for a week. My Grandma came out to check on me and see why I yelled. I told her, she told me to try and go back to sleep but I refused to sleep in a room alone. So I ended up on her floor in her room.
That to this day still freaks me out. The Donnie Darko Bunny scared me when I first saw it. Though it had nothing on what I saw
Another encounter I had was at my Mom's house when she lived on Jackson street. I was like 6. The house was supposed to be haunted but I had never seen anything. Then I woke up one day to the barking of my Mom's dog Rocky. I see her in the kitchen barking at something int he corner. Like something was there. It looked at me or something because I felt a cold chill after staring at the corner for a few seconds. I went back to bed. The next night I feel asleep on the couch. Well I used to have a Spider-man playset that went with all the toys from the animated series. This thing was so huge it downsized the turtles sewer lair. It took up a huge table. Well I had a bunch of toys over there and some were this Venom toy, 2 in fact. One shot water and the other had like jaw clamp action. I woke up the next morning with Venom in my hands in a pile of water and my other Venom was hanging from the ceiling! The even creepier thing is that my Mom said she swore she heard me playing at like 2 AM and I was asleep.
That was by far just so gah creepy and *shivers*
Between that and the Easter Bunny Ghost and that freaking house in the moutains. Man F that Im done with ghosts man gah thye just freak me the Hell out and I dont ever want to see one again. And active imagination my ass either I saw them things and just ahh. Next time I see one imc alling Ghostbusters Ive honestly had my share for a life time

1) You'd be surprised what an active imagination can produce. I've seen all sorts of goofy things that would make your skin crawl; but it turned out that my eyes were playing tricks on me.
2) You may have been sleep walking during the toy incident, explaining how the objects got where they did.
3) Environment plays a role in hauntings. Electromagnetic fields generated by things like power lines, granite, and even water underneath the house may cause phenomena similar to hauntings. Just remember that you cannot prove or disprove the existence of ghosts. When you see a "ghost" or "haunting," try to go and recreate the event. Again, you'd be surprised at how many times you fooled yourself into seeing something that didn't really happen.

Do you have any ideas on how me and my friends saw that one ghost on the moutain in that house? I want to dismiss it as if I didnt really see it so I can say I never saw a ghost. You seem to have good explainations maybe theres something I over looked? My friends saw it to though. Which is what gets me. But if I rememebr correctly someone told us what it looked like before we saw it. So 4 people saw it and one of those people was touched by it. It was just to weird for me

Sleepwalking is the first thing I thought of, too. When my mom was little, she used to sleepwalk, and sleep, with her eyes open. My brother used to sleep walk, too. He still really talks in his sleep sometimes, too. Answers questions and such. Hehe.
Spitfire, if you all knew beforehand what the ghost looked like, there is the possibility that that's what was in your minds; then you saw something, and immediately your mind was prepared to see that.

Spitfire, if you all knew beforehand what the ghost looked like, there is the possibility that that's what was in your minds; then you saw something, and immediately your mind was prepared to see that.Yeah, but seeing something out of the norm with your friends makes it appear more real than of the imagination. People who see things by themselves always come out looking like they're totally nuts to others, and I've always hated that. Because what if what they saw is really threatening and could hurt someone? I'd sure as hell would want someone to believe me so that they know what to look out for! :o
I think a great number of people have heard the action figure story before, but for those who haven’t…
My TMNT action figures are set up on a shelf, bad guys on the left, good guys on the right. At this point in time, my Tech Ninja had been set up near the back left, and Leonardo was near the front center edge. The others were situation around the shelf.
I woke up one morning to find my Tech Ninja and Leonardo missing. I found them on the floor in front of the bookcase, oddly enough, looking like they were fighting, wrestling. First, I went around asking if anyone’d touched my figures. It would be almost impossible, since one would have to crawl over my bed to get to them. Earthquake, or something else knocking the shelf, was my second thought, but none of the other figures had fallen, not even the unstable Hun or Foot Ninja. Even if the Tech Ninja had fallen by itself, managed to hit Leonardo, despite the distance between them, and caused them both to fall off the shelf, only to land in the grip of battle, I don’t see how they could have avoided the figures between them.
Part two: There’s no “roof” to my top shelf, so when I ran out of room, several figures moved up to the top of the “walls”. One of these was my Guardian, who managed to fall forward, avoiding the shelf and other figures, to get to my floor.
I’ve tried repeating these events, and I really can’t get them to repeat.

Spitfire, I can't really explain what the ghost was in the house. I could give some suggestions as to what may have caused it. Eyes playing tricks on you, your friends just going along with what one another said, etc. The best way to figure out what happened is to go back to the house and try to recreate the event. If you can't under any circumstances simulate the event (even in theory) then you know that you didn't cause the event.
For instance, look to see if there was anything in the house. If light could have gotten in to the house through a window or hole in the wall. Etc.

Wow! I'm suprised so many people posted here!
Anyway, back on the topic, I've heard that if you ask a ghost to leave then they will. My mom's friend had some ghosts in her home once, one night she saw them and asked them to leave her home and they went into her sofa. After a while she completly forgot about the whole thing, and sold that sofa. One day she got a phone call from the person she sold it to, and they told her that they saw three men come out of the sofa!
Also, around the same time as my little ghost moment, my mom had a dream that this thing was trying to pull me under my bed. She grabbed me and yelled at the thing to leave us alone! I can't help but wonder if it was the ghost in her dream...
Out of curiosity...I remember kids talking about "Bloody Mary" and other supposed ghosts like that. Has any one here ever tried it, personally I wouldn't. I'm a big chicken, but also becasue I think we should be bugging spirits for a scare.

After hearing that story from my friends in grade school, I became scared of mirrors. That fear went away with time, but I've never tried the whole "chant her name 5 times" or whatever. I'm too scared to do it because she was a real person.

Bloody Mary is a classmate of mine. She is the one with the red hair. She's a nice person to talk to and not dangerous at all.

To envoke the spirit of Bloody Mary, you shut yourself in a darkened bathroom, face the mirror and say her name thirteen (sometimes more, sometimes less) times. If your'e lucky, she'll appear and glare at you. If you're not lucky, she'll appear, glare at you, then claw your face off.
There's been some speculation on who "Bloody Mary" might have been. I put my money on Mary I of Scotland or perhaps the Virgin Mary (giggling Catholic schoolgirls, anyone?) but the whole "Bloody Mary" craze is fairly recent, and supposedly began in the mid 1970s. Some have taken to calling her "Bloody Mary Worth", which always makes me think of that godawful unfunny newspaper comic strip.

Isn't this the same way you conjure up Candyman? Anyway, the version I remember of bringing forth Bloody Mary was you had to be holding something made of silver while shut away in a bathroom in the dark. That may just be the local version of the tale.

I remember reading somewhere that the whole legend was based on a queen that enjoyed executing people (hence the name, "Bloody Mary"). She could be Mary of Scotland.

Yeah, same concept for the Candyman.

This game was mentioned in one of the "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" books and I think it was called, "A Ghost in the Mirror" where you can call out any dead person and their reflection will replace yours. Sometimes, if they're upset that you disturbed them, the mirror will break and they'll come out into the room. Not too many people get that far because they get scared and turn back on the light. And when that happens, the game is over. ;)

There is no solid way to summon "Bloody Mary." As Matt said, it's all local lore. Methods change from area to area and so on. Around here you conjure her by going into the bathroom, turning off the lights and saying her name three times while staring into the mirror. Upon the third "Bloody Mary," she comes and murders you.
You can try it, I doubt anything would happen since it's just an urban legend. Still, it's never a good idea to go around summoning evil spirts and demons.
And here I am thinking it was just a sweet alcoholic beverage. Silly me.

I tried Bloody Mary once, the drink that is, and I didn't like it. It wasn't sweet at all. I tasted the tomato juice and the strong peppery flavor and nearly gagged. I'll stick to daiquiris, thank you very muck. :)
You can try it, I doubt anything would happen since it's just an urban legend. Still, it's never a good idea to go around summoning evil spirts and demons.Okay, I missed out on a large chunk of doing stupid things because my parents stopped me before I could make mistakes. But, because of that, I'm left curious of those things I've missed out on. Truthfully now, and I really want to know, am I missing out on anything exciting with a Ouija board? I've always wanted to play with one, but all I ever hear is horror stories coming from it. My mom forbids me to buy one; I even promised I wouldn't play with it in the house! I wanted to play with it just ONCE and then never ever again, just to say that I've played with it before. Would I be making a mistake if I did????
There's a reason Ouija boards are marketed as a toy. While it's based on a traditional divination tool, I don't think there's any harm in just the board. I think my experiences had more to do with me attracting the paranormal than the board itself.
Once a group of us got a board out, and it started spelling out death threats. Most of us agreed it was one single girl influencing the board. Second occurrence came at a friend’s house, where the indicator moved on its own.
Just to be safe, if you do get your hands on a board, make sure you ask for a benevolent spirit. It works better with a small group, and it does make for an interesting evening.
I'll stick to daiquiris, thank you very muck. :)
That's the funniest typo I've read since Jester's crapola.
No offense there. It just gave me a chuckle.

Oh, it was an intentional typo, my sister likes to sometimes say, "Thank you very muck." I think she heard it in some movie or show. She's like Mikey from the new TMNT, always quoting things.
And Kali, I read somewhere you use white candles instead of red candles when using the board. The white candles supposedly attract good spirits wheras if you wanted to contact something evil (don't ask me why), you'd use red. *shrug*

Ouija boards! You're one stop shop for ghost stories!
The way the Ouija board works is this: Two people or more place their hands on the planchet and summon spirits to answer questions. There is a certain protocol to certain things that people insist make it work better (or make it work in the first place.) I suggest you light candles, turn off all electrical devices in the room, and just start asking questions(if you plan on using one, that is.)
Theory 1-The Exorcist Scenario.
Now, it can vary as to what results you get when you use one of these things. One argument is that the Ouija taps into other dimensions, summoning spirits to answer your questions. However, most practitioners and psychics believe that the Ouija will only tap into what most people would refer to as "Hell." If this happens, you're usually screwed. Demons invade your house and soul and torment you forever and ever, etc. Blah blah.
Theory 2- The Poltergeist Scenario
Popular thought today regards poltergeists not as troublesome spirits but rather as people releasing psychic engery due to stress. Usually these people are teenage girls, and the poltergeist activity centers around the individual responsible. This applies to the Ouija board in that you may somehow activate latent psychic abilities and subconsciously provide the answers to your own questions.
Theory 3- The "I See Dead People" Scenario
Some researches and psychics suggest that the dead are all around us. With the use of a Ouija board one contact the restless spirits that roam your house, back yard, tree fort, whatever. If this is true, then you get in touch with Granny or your old dog Skip and go frolicking off into the land of Lollipops and Gum Drops and everything is hunky-dory. The End.
I can't tell you which one really happens, if any of them happen at all. Paranormal activity can't really be proven with current technology, so if you use a Ouija, you do so at your own risk. Why Milton Bradley would package a telephone to Hell is beyond me, but a bucks a buck I guess.

I guess Milton Bradley thinks it's just a party game. I know from experience that Ouija is no mere game. Lots of creepy stuff has happened when I've used a Ouija board (for example, my friend and I once spoke to a spirit who correctly told us who the president was in the year 1939, something we both didn't know).
Brina, if you really want to play Ouija, you don't have to buy the board. You can make your own using a pencil and some paper. PM me if you want details.

All of a sudden, there shined a shiny demon... in the middle... of the road.
And he said: "Play the best song in the world, or I'll eat your soul."And we played the first thing that came to our heads "The Best Song in the World".

All kinds of strange stuff. My cousins and I 'specially liked to mess with the Ouija board to see if questions could get answered correctly (two people as the "channelers" holding the pencil or coin, while others asked questions that the two would have no prior knowledge of). The weird thing? Almost 80% of the time, the answers came out correct. The spirits knew things like old nicknames, dates of birth, where old homes were located, etc.
There was also one time when two of my cousins were acting as the channelers, and the spirit we contacted spelled out "Satan" as his name. That right there scared the living poo out of me. I don't know if it was just a mischievous spirit, but we haven't done Ouija in a long time because of incidents like that.
i have one. it's not really me, but it's my friend.
she and her dad were walking home one night. she heard this strange noise, like high heel shoes. she stoped, the noise stoped. she continued. it happened again afew times. after awhile, she looked back. she didn't see anything, but the noise grew louder and louder and sounded like someone running in high heel shoes. then the nose came past her and then she felt abit of wind come by her right side. that was the day she became convinced that she is a magnet to ghosts. somethings like that happened to her before but she didn't say what...
as for me, i brought X-men 2 on DVD. i took it out and cared for it (it's my first DVD) the next morning i got up and saw the DVD cover open and the movie on pause about half way through. i asked everybody but they didn't touch it (even my lil' bro. he knows better than to even breathe on my stuff) and 'til this day, the mystery has never been solved

My sister's friend, Erin, has had some weird stuff happen to her. One time she was visiting her grandmother's house in Laguna and she was outside with a group of friends trying to contact spirits. The radio was playing in the background to get them in the mood and they decided to try and summon Jim Morrison. The more they concentrated, the more cloudy it got outside. Then, the station started to play "Riders on the Storm" and at the precise moment the song came on, it started to rain! I thought that was pretty freaky!

one time when my cousins were camping, they put their fire out, and went to bed, the somehow it got lit back up. hey put it out again, and poured water all over it, and went to bed, and somehow it lit back up. so they packed up their stuff and left their campsite in the middle of the night. cuz the ghosts kept lighting up the fire.

Ah! Another Doors incident! Ya know, "Come on baby, light my fire! Try to set the night on fire!" Okay, sorry, not funny, I know.
I recently purchased a book called "Haunted Heritage" by Michael Norman and Beth Scott, same authors who brought out "Haunted America" and "Haunted Heartland," both of which we've had for yeeeeears. My dad gave my sister and I the "Haunted Heartland" book and it was so great, my sister later found "Haunted America" and bought it. It's a collection of some very creepy ghost stories of North America, many that are so frightening, I keep my light on long after I read one or two!
Now, in the new book I got, "Haunted Heritage," there's one story from Milwaukee, Wisconsin called "Something Evil on Larabee Steet," a story re-added from either "Haunted Heartland" or "Haunted America." I knew it sounded familiar and read it over last night, again keeping the lights on! The story was quite long compared to the other ones in the book, but I read the whole thing in one sitting. I want to know if anyone ever heard this story about the Tallmann family terrorized by some form of the Devil where it literally was a threat to them, driving them out of the house for good. Some of the things that happened to them sounded far too fictional and I wanted to try and look up this story to see if I could find how much truth there was to it. Jamezer's story reminded me of this one because there was a lot of fires happening in the Tallmann house, yet, nothing ever burned or show signs of charred markings!

Here's something I read online that seemed to tie in with the story: "The horrific case in Horicon, Wisconsin which involved the Tallmann family soon after acquiring an old set of bunkbeds." That happens in the book, except things were happening before the bunkbeds were put in, but were just little things like poltergeist activity, nothing malign...yet. The family moved in with two children, seven year-old Kenny and his younger sister, Maryann. The mother, Deborah, was pregnant with a third daughter, Sarah. By the time Sarah was old enough to room with her big sister, the two were moved into Kenny's big room and they added bunkbeds while he was moved into their smaller room. The next paragraph following in the book reads: "The room switch by the children seemed to trigger a new round of increasingly violent incidents." So, I guess from that sentence I read online, there was something attached to that piece of furniture that caused several of their problems. I have read that ghosts can sometimes latch onto pieces of furniture, such as an old antique, and when you bring it into your house, well, there ya go! Again, it's hard to obtain hard facts with this story, but that's an interesting connection.
As for the whole story, errr, I could sit and type the entire thing straight from the book, but you wouldn't hear from me for about a month or two! Best to just check out the book at the library or purchase it! A lot of the incidents included Kenny being frequently stared at by an old hag and wouldn't leave him alone, or Maryann sitting up at night and talking to her new 'friend' who appeared at her bedside, or when the grandmother stayed over to baby-sit, she saw two red eyes peering in at her from the window. Red eyes with bright green pupils became a frequent thing, along with the fires that seemed to pop up in the weirdest spots of the house. Almost every page was full of incidents, so it's plain to see this poor family was terrorized quite a lot!

Oh wow... I didnt see THIS thread.... very interesting.
As I've posted before, we've had Weird stuff happen up here on campus. From the mystery of the Basement to Dorward, to the 13 girls hanging themselves..
At home however, is some stranger things. Well, stuff with my family that is. Ever since 5th grade, I've had all these bouts of deja vu. Dreaming of something (however minute and mundane it may be), and it occurs to the T sometime in the future. From robin's nexts being brought into a house, to plane crashes. I can finish peoples sentences, know what theyre doing.. I've even done that with a friend of mine Online. I just... know stuff. Really weird stuff that I can't explain. Well, I talked to my mom about it, but I kinda figured she'd just say I was nuts or something.
She told me that she's experienced many times as well! She knew when my ex-grandfather died, when my grandmother (on Dad's side) died... she's had dreams so vivid that she couldnt go back so sleep for hours. She also told me this, which was kinda odd.
I'm the youngest of four, and the only girl. My mom would dream about each baby, what they looked like, how they'd act-- before she'd even know she was pregnant. All during each pregnancy, she could see herself playing with the baby. she would know their temperment, their giggle, everything. She knew all the others were boys months before they could Ever tell, because of her dreams.
Me? She never had any dreams, at all. She even told me that she was so scared that she was gonna lose me. She had no idea what I was, what I'd look like, nothing...
I was a complete enigma to her. Maybe she wasnt supposed to have me? Or I wasnt supposed to be here? Who knows...
But this deja vu thing...? It carries in our family. I have it, my brothers (two at least) have it... Its gotta be on our mom's side, cuz My dad has never mentioned anything like this happening to him.
