Quick question..

I like the new cartoon, but even with the sillyness of the old `toon (seasons 3-6 really) it got back to the feeling (sorta) of the first 5 eps of the first season once season 8 came along (even the last ep of season 7 with the technodrome getting stuck in dimension x was good and not as childish)
but when the red sky eps hit.. it really reminded me of the new toon in many ways- almost like what the new toon would be like if they had just continued with the characters from the old one.
anyway, i wish they would have continued with it- u think we would have seen a return of Shredder and Krang? I think the series would have been really cool if they continued with those characters, but made it more serious, like the last 2-3 seasons. what do ya all think?

Yes, Red Sky was an attempt at sticking it to MIRAGE and trying to become a darker series, much like how Archie comics were the first to move away from the more humerous aspects of the original cartoon

Seasos 3-6 of the original cartoon had some story arcs and a good sense of continunity, as every other season did, and the humour was superior to the current cartoon

The Archie comics...are they supposed to be a continuation of the old series? Were they darker, more appealing?

No they werent a continuation, they started as three issue mini-series adapting the 5 episode mini-series of the old toon, and then became a series. And they werent really dark untill the later issues when Chris Allen started. It ran from 1988-1994.

The Archie comic started with adaptations of the toon, then shifted gears after Incredible Shrinking Turtles. It took on an eco-friendly psudo- Captian Planet esque tone. The last few arcs were very deep and dark it was very good, imo. in fact the last unreleased arc is being published by mirage in trade Paperback. Be on the look out for "The Forever War" graphic novel, it's bound to rock....

One thing I didn't like about the Archie series is the way they tried to shove the "Protect our enviornment" theme down our throats in nearly every issue. Thank goodness the original cartoon didn't have that.

when it moved to CBS it did, only not in the episode, in theTMNT equivelent of the "and now we know, and knowing is half the battle" spots.
