All I can say is...WOW! As you guys know, I'm not a fan of the old toon. I was hesitant about reading this fancomic to be honest. But I'll tell you this now, I'm impressed! If the old toon had been like this, I would have loved it! It's nice and dark, like the new toon, my kind of story! It makes me think of the first movie...I love it! "Ninja Turtles: Gaiden " and "Turtle Turncoat" are the best fancomics I've read, one for both shows (gaiden seems to go with the new toon, while this one goes with the old one)!

Mmmm... Gonna like it! :D It is so sombre, just like the perfect TMNT should be.

And it explains logically the idea, how the 4 reptiles could have afforded one hot big pizza per day. ;)

But I was only able to read the first 27 pages (from the ZariusTwo link). Does it mean the next links are broken or the following pages are not drawn yet? I'm curious if Casey survived...

Drat! I've tried this link even earlier but all I am able to see there is plain HTML code. No images at all :ohwell: What could be the possible cause of my miserable state? I use Firefox as a browser, may this be the explanation that I can't watch this page properly, because it was designed only for Internet Explorer users? :| Did someone using Firefox manage to watch Turtle Turncoat?

All I could do was visiting http://www.btinternet.com/~general_zod/ and see title "The rescue of Casey Jones". Well, better than nothing I guess. At least he didn't die after having skewered himself into Shredder's claws...

Actually, the original toon was cancelled due to CBS wanting a more "educational" line up. The ratings weren't a problem at the time.

:D Hi. Im' glad to hear that some of ya are enjoying Turtle Turncoat. Script and stories have never been my strong point, but I hope u know im trying my best (sorta). The ideas you have in your head rarely come across as you plan, we'll that's what i've found over the years in all the comics that i've done.
As for the bad language, i'll try and justify that as good as I can. At some point Raphael is going to have to turn to the dark side. He will end up betraying everyone around him, that means fighting his brothers to the death. I'm trying to build him up to this point, so he's naturally gonna be mad and mean all the time.
I will tone down the other characters though. Honestly I can put that down to lazy writing.
Apart from that I hope the people reading it will continue to enjoy it in the future, i will finish it one day.. i hope, ive been drawing the sodding thing for like 5 years now on and off, as you can probably tell by how the style changes every 10 pages or so. :)

Yeah, your art is perfect, unfortunately, as I mentioned earlier, I can't view the pages at your site http://www.btinternet.com/~general_zod/turtles.web, due to the technical difficulties. It doesn't go along well with Firefox, the source code is all I can see. Can you fix it to make it more user-friendly or just provide me with direct links pages - I'd like to watch pages 28-40 of your comic.

Sorry to hear about the problems you are having accessing those pages. I don't know why it's happening. I use dreamweaver 4 and my knowledge of it isn't that great, it's a miracle that I got my website up and running at all really.
I don't know how to change it, all I know is that I've had my PC reinstalled lots of times and I've had to download my entire site to my PC and into a new pub folder.
That might explain why you can view some pages and not others. If you or anyone else can explain how I can fix it to be more user friendly I would greatly appreciate it.
Otherwise I can just send you the pages by email if u like or something??? :D

I have the same problem in Mozilla (this is probably due to the fact that IE will render anything that looks like HTML as HTML, while Mozilla and Firefox require proper headers). The easiest way to fix this would be to rename "turtles.web" to "turtles.htm". Or, if your host allows this, upload a file called .htaccess to your main directory with this line in it:
AddType text/html web

You mean in a manner similar to what there doing with "Forever War?"

Sounds like a decent idea, the concepts of creating "Elseworld" graphic novels based around the TMNT is an appealing one, we could carefully select which stories should be turned into the next MIRAGE volume, since "Forever War" is after all, for the fans, and is a direct result of what we, the fans, wanted to see.

BECAUSE it has to do with the comic's concept. Where the old toon could have gone had it been continued. I'm saying that the original toon was cancelled not due to lack of ideas but CBS being stupid.

Transformers were being shot and mutilated during that same year, and the third season of THAT was the darkest they ever did at that point, so I really don't get your point at all

yes both true. but they werent human. and. i have ever episode of DVD of transformers.. and before the movie not one single character died of a gun shot or anything like that. or being impaled with arm blades.

Really? Try "War Dawn" for good measure, Orion Pax, and several other Autobots are shot dead by Megatron and the Deceptacons, Pax is later revived as Optimus Prime, but his previous death still counts.

Anyways, yeah the comic wouldn't be aired on tv, at least not in its complete format. I mean, c'mon, the cartoon has Leo 'knocking people back' with his swords instead of actually cutting them. I haven't seen 'The way it never was' yet, but I can tell you don't actually SEE Mikey being hacked and slashed up, just hear the sounds.

So even if they would keep the Shredder running Casey through scene, they'd never show it. Just off screen 'slice' sounds and some kind of excuse to not show all the blood coming from the wound.

I agree about the previous transformers point, some of them were very dark, especially the comics that were released over here in the UK (I try to model my own comic on them). Characters were being killed off every other week.
Transformers the movie traumatised me when I was a child when they killed Optimus Prime. Looking back though I'm glad they decided to do it (even though it was just a marketing decision to get the new toy line in), makes it much more dramatic don't you think.

I thought the darkest Turtles storyline (Original series) was Enter the Fly.
I was getting into Baxter’s character after the final eye of zarnoth episode (is that spelt right?) and then shredder betrays him in a second only later to be mercilessly killed by krang.
I do prefer those stories to the ones where shredder spends most of the time slipping up on banana skins or Erma being enlarged (ughh I hate attack of the 50 foot Erma :evil: .)
alright but the thing with the transformers.. they are robots not humans.. read through some of the rules the FCC has posted about that type of stuff. they were allowed to show shredders head getting cut off in the new series. but A. it was a robot head, and B. shredder isnt a human.. they would never of been able to show that the way they did if shredder had been a human.. thats all im trying to say. that fan comic could of been an episode in the original series sure. but one.. it would not of been able to show casey getting impaled like that. it would of been done differently like the previous poster said. and the cursing and stuff wouldnt of been allowed either. and aprils top wouldnt of been that low cut like that.. as to show that much breast. thats all im saying.

If you thought this thread was seriously speculating if it could be shown the way that comic presented it as, the only person being silly around here was you.

The examples I gave you clearly displayed that often than not, animated series at that time could have gotten away with a great deal of things, not to the extent of that comic, but still able to cross the line, I never once said that this comic COULD or SHOULD have been made into an animated episode.

Hey, Tony's updated some new pages. But, I have to warn you that they're pretty graphic. Looks like the story is reaching its climax, and though I don't anticipate a happy ending, I hope there will at least be some silver lining in the clouds at the end. Is anybody else still reading it? Actually, he's not. I mean, if he really was doing a "male" thing (nothing pervert there) then he'd completely stripped her. I like the yellow underwear though. :D

Well, you know Shredder had to make sure that April felt the shocks, and her clothes would maybe have taken the shock away or something...

I'm in a complete minority here, but I don't like it. Nothing against Mr. Day but it's just not what I would want from Turtles. If I wanted anime I'd watch pokemon (sorry I hate the anime style, though your artwork and coloring is great I just can't get into it) and if I wanted to see T&A or bloody violence I'm sure there's a couple million websites with porno on them and plenty of slasher movies out there. I like TMNT for something completely different, and though I don't think you should stop doing something you enjoy I just thought I'd throw out my opinion.

I couldn’t help myself. One of the things I wanted to do was see April out of that horrible yellow jump suit. I always imagined that there was an untapped beauty under there...

But that's ancient history...
The first part of Turtle Turncoat will soon be over! (In about 13 pages)
After that the real story will soon begin.

For Turtle Turncoat part II I am collaborating with my long time friend Alan Peters. I have worked with him before. He is a much better script writer than I and hopefully it will show.

I like TT for its decadence and seriousness. Damn, this story evokes darker sides that were only barely mantioned in the original show. And that's good. Real tension between bros, April's sexual innuendo (Shredder says he's enjoying his work and I believe he does), the turtles are swearing (well, at least Raph). Much more realistic.

OK, it's not like the old TMNT, but different people like different styles.

How many chapters do you plan, Tony?

The art is beautiful. If the turtles had this kind of art back in '84...they would have been super-awesome. I love how you did the Shredder in particular. He looks how he should, and he just looks so badass and even...handsome? Sexy? I know there's a word... April was done well--cute and adventurous-- andKrang looks realistically repulsive. Casey and the turtles certainly have nothing to compalin about either. Everyone is nicely done.

The plot is good. I love when Shredder fights, and it was an exciting quick battle he had with Casey, and it established him as the villain we all love (or love to hate, depending). The whole kidnapping thing is true to form, and I hope it doesn't go too far (I doubt it will, though.) The April/shock treatment is...uh, disturbing. But as long as it doesn't get too gratuitous I guess I can roll with it. I doubt you'll keep THAT up for much longer anyway. Crome-dome is in for a big spankdown once the Turtles see April.

Also, I hope to see more of Krang in the future. He's such a lovable alien.

The grammar could use an airbrushing, and maybe a few of the words. The script isn't bad, although the "Ha ha ha's" throw me off a little. You are a good writer, though--drama, suspense, comedy, and action. Good lines as well: "It's being done as you rant."

I also enjoyed your prototype pages as well, even though I couldn't make out some of the dialogue. :( I enjoyed the "Don't walk away from me" one in particular. Makes me wish I knew how it turned out!

By the way, what do you color with? I want to say marker and Photoshop.

EDIT: Oh, and the "I could be anywhere" quote. I know where it's from, and are you giving us a hint for what is to come?

I will admit, it's rather weird seeing the turtles depicted out of context in such a manner. I mean ok, I get it that Raphael's got issues, but the poor guy doesn't go screaming and cursing at his family 24/7 like that.
Also, he'd certainly never freak out at Master Splinter, unless of coarse you're going somewhere with that relationship in the future.

I have to admit I'm not a big anime fan either, though I rather like how you did the Turtles themselves. Once the story passed their part in the beginning, however, I stopped... just because anime-ish human characters don't hold my interest. (And April and Casey have never been my favorites either.) Sorry.

But the part with the Turtles actually in it, I like. So kudos to ya for that. That's great linework and coloring there.

Hi everyone, haven't been online much, my PC died. Couldn't do much of my comic either.

Robweiler: I plan to do only two chapters and this one will be ending in around 13 pages.

Remix: 17: The scene with april is now over (perhaps it was a bad move, but I've done it now so who cares). Thanx alot for all your kind words. Along with you, adam winters and a few others I have at least some fans of Turtle Turncoat. Krang will be in it alot more in part 2, along with rock soilders, bebop and rocksteady etc... and I use photoshop to colour it.

Even though some people (judging by reading some of these posts) will proclaim a fatwa against me for saying this, I will not be changing anything about Rapheal's character in my comic. He will be written quite differently in part 2 (no swearing for example) but that's about it. Apart from that I haven't even got to the part when he actually does turn to the dark side yet.

Btw. Hi Adam, how u doing and and what u been up too? :D

I had a turtle story I wrote a long time ago I should actully go through with it...it's based on the archie comics turtles/the old toon as well!
I am not a big fan of the style of art but to each his own I say your coloring has gotten so much better in these last few pages keep up the great work! you've got me hooked and I can't wait for more of the comic

I'm doing fine, Tony. Let me say that I've always been pleased with how well you've taken criticism. You are quite a talented artist and the pacing of the turtle comic is nothing short of extraordinary. I'm glad to see your going to tone down the cussing, because constant use of profanity just makes the dialogue weaker as a whole. I'm also glad the scene with April is over. Your story is so well done, that it doesn't need overproportion women to make it sell. It's good enough on its own merit. I know it's your story and you have a right to make it as you prefer, but your conscientiousness to good taste is commendable, as is your desire for self-improvement. I still say the comic industry is in need of your talents.

I wonder if Shredder fought Rocksteady and Bebop at the same time if he could beat them both. It's 2v1, but I don't know... Shredder is pretty strong.

lol... ok, that is a good point. besides, Shredder could just throw ninja stars into the gun barrels and when they try to fire them the guns would backfire on them and explode (remember like in the first season when Raphael jams his sai in Rocksteady's laser rifle and it blows up when he pulls the trigger)

Hey, Tony, this is Adam again. I'm glad you've gotten back into updating. I hope your computers problems have been fixed and it won't be too long until the next update. I think most fans of the old Turtles cartoon would agree that the writers missed a great storytelling opportunity to play up the Shredder vs. Krang feud in later seasons. This is a good twist and I can't wait to see what you do with Rocksteady and Bebop.

LOL, I SOOOOO remember that episode!! I guess you could say that they kicked his butt then!!

Ya know, it is a true shame that they never put Bebop and Rocksteady in the movies. They should've been in the first movie. And they didn't even bother to put them in Secret of the Ooze. Instead they put Tokka and Rahzar... who were good characters, but I would've rather seen Bebop and Rocksteady in the movie. :cry: :(

Yep that is what I have heard as well. I heard it a long time ago.

Supposedly, Tokka's costume was originally sculpted and modeled to look like a rhino (Rocksteady) and Rahzar's costume was originally a warthog (Bebop), but of course the movie script was changed by the producers very early on and the costume designers had to change them from Rocksteady and Bebop to Tokka and Rahzar, respectively.

As you watch Secret of the Ooze, if you look closely, you can notice very subtle similarities between Tokka and Rahzar and everyone's favorite rhino and warthog. You can tell that they used to be Rocksteady and Bebop.

I have a feeling it will be pretty damn excellent. They have a solid group of people working on it, as far as I know.

The funny thing is... I'm looking forward to seeing the first preview trailer of the movie almost as much as I am looking forward to seeing the movie itself, lol.

One of these days, probably sometime in 2006, I'll be sitting in a movie theatre watching the previews and then BAM one of the previews will say something like "THIS SUMMER... THE TURTLES ARE BACK" or something lol.

And it will send a happy tingle up my spine, same as with all the turtle fans in the audience.

And then I'll see Raphael pop on the screen kicking some foot soldier's butt or something and he'll spit out a cheesy phrase like "Super Shellarific!" and I'll notice that the voice is done by Danny DeVito, and then I'll cringe.

And then I'll wake up from the nightmare, go to the movie theatre, and see the REAL trailer. :P

Yeh the PCs fixed now. It was buggered for ages and in the end I got so fed up with it that I went out and brought a new one, so I will be updating more in future.
It gave me more time to concentrate on the story so I did the layout for the rest of part one, all I have to do now is draw it.
Glad u like the Krang vs Shredder bit, it's going to be a major part of the story.
This is the last time im gonna be writing on this thread.
I'll be letting people know of my updates in the fanart section from now on (makes more sense really) so i'll start a new thread there.
