The official site has just updated with previews of the villains for the new show. Go here http://www.ninjaturtles.com/html/sneakpeek.html to check them out.
Have to say that Shredder looks far better than I thought he would after seeing the figure but I'd still prefer a design similar to that of the first movie. Not to fear though as the Saki designs imply that we'll see him out of costume as well (hope they recreate the fight from Vol. 1 #21 at some point and don't just use this design for the origin flashback).
It's good to finally see Baxter done right as well.
The Hun looks to be the leader of the Purple Dragons. Seems that they'll be more than just a one off appearance as they were in the original comics.
On the whole it looks great and I can't wait for the series. Only problem I have now is my Aunty in the US doesn't have Fox and Uni's net restrictions prevent the use of file sharing programs such as Kazaa!!!!!!!!

There is a a thread about this in the General TMNT discussion already.

Your Aunt doesn't have Fox a VHF/UHF channel?

Nope, my aunt doesnt live with me :D but the "uni is prohibiting kazaa" part caught my attention...are they using a firewall to block kazaa's port?Or are they prohibiting it using another methods?
If it's the firewall...well i don't know much about firewalls, but you could find a p2p program that uses different ports that may be open in your uni's firewall.

Kazaa is not a good way to download episodes anyway.

Yeah i know that :D
I wonder if the new toon will even be in kazaa...it sure will be in irc.
There are new toons in kazaa like he-man and tf armada (with quality lower than the ones you can get in irc =P ) so if all the new toons are appearing, then the new tmnt will prolly also appear.
Then again, kirby right back at ya was in irc, but i haven't seen it in kazaa, so i'm not so sure.

It might come in the kazaa too, but it will be much faster to get from irc.

It's not just Kazaa, it's all file share programs including IRC, WinMX, Morpheus, etc. I'm not sure how they do it and wouldn't try to get round it cause they'll just block me from using their internet, meaning I be back to using a modem (useless for downloading ANYTHING in a decent quality). Any idea if someone will put the episodes on the wed itself, even if only for a few days?

You have the stuff needed for encoding? Would be cool to someone from inside to do it.

I have a TV card and some nice encoding programs.
I WILL be encoding eps in divx for myself and the community.
I planned on sharing them on mIRC, but a Direct Connect hub could be setup again.
I may want to work out a system with a few folks to help me share episodes. I could upload my files to a select few, then they would all agree to share them on mIRC, etc so people could download them faster.
PM me with any questions or ides, or if you would like to help share episodes.

It's only better if many people encode it. And me an Nicko are ops at #TMNT-files so we could send the eps for servers there.

You have the stuff needed for encoding?Yep...as I said to some people in IRC, Adobe Premiere + my VCR + my computer = VOILA!
Don't worry, I'll be sure to compress them enough into the right .avi files.

Yeah, we are hoping really good quality episodes in size around 150-200 megs.. The best compression is Divx but im not sure wich version.

If anyone could tell me where to get free webspace large enough (and tell me how to set up the site) I would be willing to host the new episodes, probably rotate through them one a week, until Mirage or Fox ask me to stop.
Only problem is someone would have to put the episodes on the web briefly for me to download as Uni prevents fileshare programs. And this presumes that Uni's server would allow it, but other than that I can't see a problem.

Fileshare programs? What about ftp?
Chris
11-11-2002, 09:43 AM
What's ftp? Sorry, only recently got broadband so I've never really bothered to look into all this before.
Chris

Done a bit of research, seems that ftp is allowed on Uni's server so I can use that (just have to figure out how :-? ). Thanks Karpo.
My offer still stands if I can find anywhere that gives that much free webspace, I know how frustarating it is having to wait ages for shows to be released outside the Us (I would have gone crazy if my Aunt hadn't managed recorded the season 2 premiere of Smallville, still can't believe I have to wait until next year for the new season).

Yeah, we are hoping really good quality episodes in size around 150-200 megs.. The best compression is Divx but im not sure wich version.Isn't it possible to make them smaller (without losing too much quality). The great quality Batman eps on Direct Connect are around 95-100 Mb.
Just thinking that the smaller they are, they easier is it to share to everybody.
Karpo_007
11-11-2002, 01:19 PM
No point making them lower quality. I have over 60 of those batman VPC encodes, they are not bad, but TMNT should be made at highest posible quality. Of course, if there are many encoders there will probably be diffrent quality and sized files. But about 200 megs is perfect size for an episode. You can fit 3 on 1 cd.

Oh and chris, if you are intrested in hosting episodes and you can use ftp you can do it. I did it last week end and over 20 people got the episode. Maybe when we got encodes of the new sho i could even host the newest ep for few days. But before that i dont think im hosting again. Over 20 people downloaded and 3 said thanks. After all i used all my Bandwidth for that...
Chris

Yeah I read about that Karpo, pity people aren't more grateful or willing to return the favor to other fans. I think I'll definitely try to host the episodes, got plenty of time to learn how to use ftp before it airs.
I was thinking of hosting one episode at a time and changing it every time a new episode airs or once a week during repeats. Of course if people ask me to put up a certain episode for a day or cycle through the episodes more often I'd be willing to give it a try depending on how much work I have at the time.
Karpo_007
11-11-2002, 02:33 PM
That would be ok, but people can get them from irc too. Of course some people are too lazy to learn using it, so it would be great help for them.

About the file sizes: I don't mind the quality being sacrificed just a tiny bit to ensure a smaller file size (I only have so many CDs you know  )
Don't get me wrong, I want a crystal clear picture too...but I don't need some super THX stuff :D
Karpo_007
11-11-2002, 02:34 PM
Well i bet we will find someone to do High quality eps. And it's probably better to have diffrent quality files, some people are on 56 etc.
DarthRaphael
11-11-2002, 04:05 PM
I think that I'll encode my eps smaller than 200MB so they are easier to download. Most of the TMNT original season was encoded at 50Mb. I think that I will shoot for 50 to 100 Mb per episode.
Karpo_007
11-11-2002, 04:13 PM
Yeah they are 50 mb and it's not a good thing. When there action, the picture get blocky and the quality is'nt over all that good.
Reznorite420
11-11-2002, 04:25 PM
You can fit 3 on 1 cd.That's....not enough, IMO. That would eventually take up a LOT of CDs....now if they were on DVDs, then I'd have no problem since those can hold a gig or 2...but since I have no DVD rom drive, I don't exactly want the wasted space like that.

Well i bet we will find someone to do High quality eps. And it's probably better to have diffrent quality files, some people are on 56 etc.Well, I'm on cable, and I still don't think the unecessarily huge files are that good of an idea...
Ummmm, when will MP4 be the norm?
Karpo_007
11-11-2002, 04:29 PM
Well, getting small files is not a reason to make episodes low quality. But it is too early to be talking about this yet. It's still many months away.
