what would u have had happen to him?? don was a cyborg (which p*ssed me off seeing as how he is my fav.), raph's face was messed up an leo lost a hand. Baby boy mikey came out without a stracth
I thought Mikey lost his voice in that series.
*EDIT: Wait a minute. No, he didn't.
He shoulda developed a limp... :)

Oh, I'm sure he was next in line to get mutilated, or have something horrible happen to him (like Splinter being turned into a bat). Maybe he would've lost his shell in a heated battle with Mako.
All things considered, I'd be expecting Mikey to not end up with a physical injury, but a psychological one. Or losing one of his senses, like hearing. Or his speech.

Something to keep him from talking LOL I am mean and yes I was ticked about Cyborg Don too.
i didn't mind what they did to Raph's eye (sorta. i'm still really mad about it though) but i really want to kill whoever suggested to chop off Leo's hand and turn Don into a cyborg and swap Raph's personality with Don's and vice versa. if Mikey had something chopped off it might've been a foot or his leg. i can see him now, walking about with a peg leg

A peg leg? LOL! That's horrible! Waitasec, didn't Playmates release an action figure of Mikey as a pirate? Maybe that peg leg idea could've worked. ;)

I didn't even consider a psychological injury. Mikey is supposed to be the emotional anchor for his brothers. Getting rid of that by messing with his mind would've probably been worse than a physical injury.

I have this sinking feeling that Krow got the misconception that Mikey lost his voice in the Image series based on my custom figures.
http://www.angelfire.com/ny3/straightedge/customs/custompage.html
I posted these on the auxilliary board a month or two ago, with those little bios, which were the starting point of my vrey-far-from-done fanfic "Distorted Image".
Occuring two months *after* the Image series, the designs (using Next Mutation and Jim Lee figures as the basis) reflected a second phase in their evolution, which I plan to wrap up by their 20th birthday (ten months away from Page 1).
These figures were a set I did back in 99 or so, and I no longer have them (the paint was wrecked by long summers in the basement), but I've done up a new batch that's a step above these, and is just awaiting Donatello (who's chest needs a simple Turtle-like design instead of Lee's overkill of wires and belts.
I really hope I didn't confuse anyone with those bios.. They are not meant to retell the Image story, but, like I said, begin to tell my story, of how the Turtles emerged from their teens into the adults they are in Volume 4.

You're right, and the story you've planned is so damn good I got confused. :D

Holy biscuits! That's the first time I've seen those customs. Those are incredible, SE. I'm amazed at the attention to detail... It's as if they walked outta the pages of Image. Absolutely awesome.

Don is my fav also, and while I didn't mind so much that he was turned into a Cyborg (Because the way he HAD to become one was pretty cool... what with his shell and spine being totalled) But the Image story just got out of hand, and who the heck got paid to design THAT version of Donny? The comic version was retarded. They should've made him keep his original shape, but with parts of him being chromed over, and maybe a nice Chrome shell and some wires. Of course he'd still have his morphing ability... so he'd still have his bo... and he could even make seperate objects from his metal parts... like make a seperate bo.... or make a spare sword for Leo or something... now that would been better. And there was too much "Astro-Plane" in the Image comics.
As for Mikey... he should've of wound up with some kinda mental incapacity... say he saw something terrible.... something totally unimaginely cruel and brutal... a kid being mercifully killed or a class of children bein slaughtered, or he has a little pet from the start of the series, and it gets killed... and he's on his own... and just goes Berserk... beating down like he never has before... gruesomely and unremorsfully, and afterwards he snaps out of it... to see what he's done and can't deal with it and just withdraws... totally. And for a while he sits in the corner of the lair...in the dark... talking to himself or something... something REALLY out of character and freakish... :D
Now that'd be cool.

maybe they would of just killed him off? i dont know. the turtles did seem to get totally buthered in that series. and at times it was so not needed. but i really liked cyber don.. when he was being controlled or evil.
maybe they would of just killed him off?.
na. i don't think so. everyone loves each turtle in some way to much for that to happen. 'sides, Image stuidos would've been swamped with Mike fans, killing whoever thought of the idea to kill of their fave turtle ;)

I like the idea of Mike losing one of his senses like sight or hearing. It would be interesting to see how he would cope with that.

I think in the Archie comics Mikey did go blind for a while.
But I think a psychological shock to Mikey would be kinda interesting. :)

that would be beyond cool if he had a break down like that. But to be honest I've never read the Image comics but I've heard alot about it and I always thought it bizzar that every one of the turtles got mutilated excpet Michaelangelo. Why does he get to to get away scott free with no injuries? Instead I hear he actualy get a girlfriend in this series. Mikey get nookie but the others get hacked to bits. But I do agree that a psychological injury would have been a more apt disabilty for Michaelangelo to have rather than a physical one.

Mike was blind in Archie. He didn't have a breakdown per say, but after Vol 1 #10 and Leo's buttkicking, he gets very solitary which worries April because he's a bit destructive as well.

Which series are you talking about when you say Mike becomes destructive? Are you still talking about the archie series or are you refereing to a situation in Mirage?

They're talking 'bout Mike smashing holes in the Northampton barn.
Also, I like the fact that Mike DIDN'T get injured like his bros. After all, Mike was the only one trying to make a life for himself beyond being a ninja, i.e. his writing, living in an apartment, having a pet kitty--LONG LIVE KLUNK!--and being uncle to Shadow.
As for Cyborg Don, I liked it. I mean, being the brainy techno-turtle, Don was the only one Image could "assimilate." And besides, Donny was going to be returned to normal, but the series canceled first.
However, I finally read Image TMNT #1, the only issue where we get to see Donny normal, armorless, and not in pain with a smashed shell and bulletholes. When he enters the kitchen to get the cake, he runs into the cyborgs. Poor Don--he has the most pitiful scared look on his face. And then all you see is his bulletridden party hat--I seriously nearly cried. That partyhat was a tearjerkin' picture.

well didn't Mike have some kinda girlfriend in the Image series? Does losing his virginity count?
Rooish
09-19-2007, 06:00 PM
Hahaha, yeah. Leo loses a hand, Raph loses an eye, Don loses most of his body, and Mikey loses ... his virginity!
Reminds me of a time when a guy at my high school whom I was kinda friends told everyone he was going to sleep with his girlfriend on the upcoming weekend. I seriously considered buying him a "We're sorry for your loss" card and getting all our classmates to sign it, as a joke. But I didn't. A few years later I told him what I had almost done, and he laughed and said he wished I had.
But if I recall correctly, by the final issue of Image, Mikey and his girlfriend had only reached "third base." I really wish I didn't know that.
But in Mirage Volume 4 he and some alien have sex. Don't know if that was his first time, or if any of his brothers have had sex, but I assume they haven't because it's never been mentioned.
I really do wish I never had learned this stuff.
Edit: But when I read the Image comics, it really didn't seem as if they were systematically injuring each Turtle and Mikey's time was yet to come ... at least, it didn't seem that way to me. Raph and Don both got their injuries in the first issue, and Leo's later injury fit in with the plot. I wasn't really thinking that Mikey should necessarily get injured because the others had been. It would have been too predictable and morbid if they had done that.

Horridus and Mike...third base? Jesus. The only reason Dragon survived Horridus' first time was because of his healing factor...being unconcious at the time helped.
I'm betting no one wanted to know that, now that I think about it.

Seriously, Dragon rutted a bit with Horridus? I didn't know that. When did that happen?
(and who was it who picked up the other's sloppy seconds, Savage Dragon or Mikey?)
Spawn Guy

Hardly like that (although Dragon never was a one woman alien amnesiac overlord). I, sadly, have never read that particular issue, but according to a synopsis on Larsen's site Dragon showed up at SOS headquarters unconcious after some big storyline. Apparently while he was out Horridus decided to...experement. Larsen seems to have decided to file the TMNT series under "No longer cannon" along with Laird, so Mike/Horridus never happened. Savage Dragon fans seemed to enjoy that little event though.

Hm, that might be true, Sage, especially in a lot of the older Mirage comics. In the Image comics, however, I think they really did a good job with Mike. It's hard to mutilate someone who's so intent on being happy, though. ;) But maybe they would have.

did Leo, Don, and Raph even know about Mikey's girlfriend Horridus, in the Image comics? Did they care? As for an embarassing encounter between the two didn't that already happen when Savage Dragon's (what ever the heck his name is) girlfriend walked in on Mike and Horridus on the couch horizontal, and kicked Mike out of the house?

The comic is called The Savage Dragon. The title character is simply called Dragon. His girlfreind (at the time the series was coming out) was called Rapture. Don definatly knew about Horridus. She was the one who helped clear him out of SOS headquarters, I think.

Yes, Horridus got Donny out of trouble, and was even hitting on him a little--and a Triceraton, a little later.
Mikey only got to third base with Horridus (Vol. 3), but went all the way with the Regenta Seri (Vol. 4).
Mike seems the most apart from the four because he, alone of the four, seems to want a life outside of ninja-ing and fighting. Donny also seems a bit apart, because he's a pacifist and prefers science to martial arts--which is why he had the whole Utrom plotline in Vol. 4.
AND, Leo's injury was the catalyst for curing Don's injury. Leo's hand was going to regenerate (probably through the mutagenic degeneration that was affecting Leatherhead and thusly the TMNT), and the Turtles were going to discover that Don's armor was making him sicker and sicker, and had to be exorcised somehow to allow Don's body to finally heal. So, if Image had lasted long enough, Leo wouldv'e gotten his hand back, and Donny would've his cyborg armor.
But Raph would still have been a pirate.
Coola Yagami
09-26-2007, 11:23 AM
Makes no sense and would also be totally unfair... I mean Leo can regrow his hand, and Don his entire shell, yet Raph's face can't heal? I bet his face would eventually heal (maybe not the eye since everyone seems to like one-eye Raph for some sick reason), but he'd never take off his mask long enough to find out.
odupianist
09-26-2007, 11:48 AM
Maybe thats the point. Maybe he'll take his mask off and realize his face has healed automatically due to their mutation or something.

That was the plan (and, in fact, if you see there towards the end his face looked mostly normal in the non-masked bits... the eyepatch and hockey mask were mostly a fashion statement). And Leo's hand was going to regrow.

Yes, we never saw his scarred eye since... what, issue #6? And the only physical thing at the end was his twisted lip--which I thought looked pretty lousy.
When I talked to Gary, I said it seemed to me that Raph would seem to be the one turtle who could safely be left with his scars and fans wouldn't mind. He said, "You got it, dude." So, I don't know if he meant that Raph would be left one-eyed or not... you could interpret it that way.
As for a cop-out... why not? Everybody moaned and groaned and griped about mutilating the TMNT. Don't you think it makes sense Carlson would try to find a way to restore Donny and Leo? And besides, like I've said, Leo's hand was only the way to start curing Donny of his armor.
