I had heard a lot about this game before and that Akira Toriyama did the character designs. So I got the rom and started playing. And now I'm hooked!!!! this is a really awesome game, I'm up to the ruined world time, its very freaky but has cool music!! Anybody else here know this game?

Yeah atleast best RPG ever created and i havent had that much fun with any other game. There is a psx version of it too. It has some loading times, but Really good anime videos. So you are in the Future now?

I have beaten the game more times I can count. The game has about 10 diffrerent endings! And the psx version has few more. But from the start to the end i have palyed it maybe 5 times.

I never get tired of it. And the psx version is exactly the same, exept the anime cut scenes and a theater mode where you watch all the endings. And it has few more endings too. On the down side, it has some loading times. They dont bother that much tough.

My friend always plays that rom for the snes when he comes to my house :P i haven't played enough to make my own opinion about the game but it looks cool and one of the parts i played was a racing mini-game...it was like f-zero in a different camera :lol: and you had to get to the goal before your rival does...i always crashed my car-ship-thing against his 'cause i didn't wanted him to win :embarass:

I played the comp demo & it was ok. I don't like the fact that it's so easy to run out of ammo. But hey! It WAS just a demo, right?
Let's just hope that doesn't become a problem in the real game cuz I'm startin to want that game just as much as the rest of yall!

Holy mangos! Chrono Trigger is one of the best RPGs ever created! It's number one on my all time favorites list. The plot was amazing, characterizations were well done, and the music... Man, this game has one of the best soundtracks ever. And yes, Chrono does look a bit like Goku, huh? ;) I love Toriyama's style of drawing. Good stuff. I can't even begin to count how many times I've played this game through. All I know is that my characters are maxed out in their levels, since I keep playing New Game + mode. :embarass:

Btw, Spike... The wild west game you mentioned... I believe you're talking about Wild Arms. That RPG takes place in a wild west setting. ;)

The psx version of CT is really good. You can have all the ending listed there and it has so cool anime videos... Everyone who likes console rpg's should not miss that one.

Yes Toriyama is incredible!! all the characters have dragonball or Dr.Slump like personalities and style to them.

Yup it's been airing for a couple of months now!They also started airing dbgt again :thyper: i'm taping it in case i want to sub the eps in kazaa in spanish.

I never liked gt, the bad gus are preety lame and the show gets repetitive, the androids and cell were preety lousy bad guys too, Toriyama wanted to end the series at Freeza but there were too many fans... buu was good but the whole regenerability thing gets out of hand there and piccolo doesn't even get to fight :(

The Masamune sword, right? ;) Make sure to bring a healer in your party (either Frog or Marle, whoever you have access to). Also stock up on some healing items if you can. When you engage the combined force of Masa and Mune, try using combo attacks. And don't be afraid to defend if he's about to use a powerful attack against you! Good luck, Nturtle!

Err... Are you asking about Dragonball GT? If so, it's the final series in the Dragonball TV saga. I believe rights have already been purchased by Funimation, so we'll probably be seeing it after DBZ finishes its course. From what I hear, GT was the worst of the series... Especially since Toriyama wasn't behind the project.

Sooo anyways...
Some anime dubs i like, like darkstalkers, the 4 digimon seasons...but the problems i have with the dubs are:
1)Bad dubbing...not always is this the case but...just look at sailor moon :dead:
2)Cuts...if it's one or two cuts in the whole series then i'm not so bothered by this, but some of the series get out of control, like dragonball z (Not only is it cut in almost *every* episode but sometimes they edit stuff as blood and cigars =P ) or sailor moon which was an abomination, not only was the dubbing bad imo but it had lots of cuts per episode aswell...just go to http://www.smuncensored.com/ or http://dbzuncensored.dbzoa.net/ to see what i mean.
3)MUSIC!!They replace the original music most of the time...well sometimes they leave original music but that's not very often, by example digimon, it has great music, it has a theme for each season, it has digivolving music, the matrix digivolution music, etc, etc...they replaced all that for a horrible music and a guy that says "digimon, digital monsters" over and over again untill you want to do bungee jumping using your digimon tape as rope.
4)Story changes...need i say more :sweatdro: in the dub they often change the original dialogs and even the story if they think it's too much for the usa or whatever the reason might be (E.G: in sailor moon, zoisite is a guy in the original, a chick in the dub...'SHE' IS A MAN DAMNIT...either that, or that's one woman with a very plain chest :blanksta: )Oh, names are often changed aswell (eg, usagi in the original, serena in the dub, saint gargomon in the original, mega gargomon in the dub, matrix digivolution in the original, biomerge in the dub, the list goes on..)
5)There is no five, stop using my shoes.
So in conclusion, dubs are the taliban.

If it weren't for all these problems i'd actually like dubs and wouldn't think they are so bad...but i don't see that happening anytime soon, and i like original, uncut and unedited stuff, so untill then consider me a subbie.

Yeah =P i guess if they wouldn't make certain cuts it wouldn't be possible to air it at saturday morning...but some animes were not meant for kids to begin with, and some other have way too many unnecesary cuts.

Yeah, i've checked some anime dvd site some time ago...funny how dubbed dvds are cheaper, but subbed dvds cost an arm and a leg :sweatdro:
Oh well, at least the dubbed dvds are uncut, i think...but if the dialog is already edited then you will end up with a version kinda different than the original anyways :oops: i'm beginning to think those greedy companies edit stuff to sell dvds :P
This isn't the case in argentina, the only cut i can remember is the ranma one, and the channel cutted it, because ranma and akane appeared naked or something like that, then there was a lot of fuzz about that :roll: and some magazine started selling a vhs with the "uncut" episode :roll: :roll: :roll:
After that, there were no more cuts in the ranma series :P
Dragonball z was also uncut (except the version that was airing in the normal not-cable-stations which was all cut) the only cut i can remember was when freezer killed krillin to make goku go apenuts, i think they cuted that, i'm not sure.
They're also airing dbgt in magic kids, and dbz in cartoon network, i dunno about the cartoon network version because i originally saw it in magic kids so i can't say if there are or are not any cuts...probably there aren't it looks like the same version magic kids aired.
So yeah, there were cuts here and then, but not *that* many cuts :dead:
There's even an anime station here (they also air cartoons like duckman and the critic..and even tmnt, or so i was told by lord vega, but when i got that station they weren't airing it anymore :x :oops: and some other stuff, but mostly anime )
They air some subbed anime (like cybaster, silent mobius and gasaraki) and dubbed one aswell...heck, they even air hentai-ish animes at night, like aika, tenemonya voyagers, compiler(no serious hentais tho, so there's nothing really explicit )...and also some kinda violent ones like petshop of horrors :dead:
Needless to say they don't cut anything :D but they also don't air anything objectionable at like, say, 3 pm, so there's nothing to cut.

Well I beat Magnus, that was preety tough and got sent to 65 million bc where I joined up with Ayla to beat up the reptiles then Lavos came in and started up the Ice age which I got sent to in 12,000 BC and I winded up in this creepy place with really creepy little kids with blue hair who sealed up the portal there and kicked me out... this is getting weird :evilgrin:

Have you played the PSX version Azure? It has very good anime video about Ayla's intro, you know when she beats those lizard men. After getting the PSX version i havent played the SNES one anymore. Downside is the loading times, but in every other way it's superior.

And robo... I like his music :P

I know what you were talking about now!!! yup, I fought the outragously powerful Giga Giga and went back to 12,000 BC where I beat up all those guys in the Ocean palace and then Lavos woke up and destroyed nearly everything. And Crono died!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( :( :( But there isn't time to sulk because then Dalton came along and he wasn't tough at all. Then i joined up with Magus!!!!! and went to save Crono, that took a while, esspecially getting up the mountain... So now there are a bunch of Mini quests and stuff I could do in the meanwhile before I fight Lavos!!!

If I remember right, Ice magic is pretty good against him. So have Marle Frog and Crono in you're party. IF you have almost all techs you should learn some nice double and Triple techs.

well techs don't work on him but ice does lower his defense, the only way it seems is to attack

Well I beat ALL the mini quests and I went to face Lavos so he started off with other boss's attacks so after I beat all of those it was for real, or so I though because after I destroyed the top I had to go inside and geez it was nasty inside that guy so I went further ups and I had to fight The inside of Lavos, a big multi armed mammoth after a heated battle I prevailed again. BUT Lavos then revealed his true self a weird guy and 2 little floating balls. well after sometime I figured out that the left one protects the right one which is the real Lavos core. so I fought and fought and fought until after a long time he used some huge attack and wiped me out :dead: I think I'll try again next year....

You should finnish the game trough Black omen. You will get the best ending and New game+.

well i beat the black omen and then Lavos came up and I beat the exterior but I went back to get some ethers and stuff before the final fight

Last time I played I used Crono Robo and Frog. They hava real good tripletech and frog and robo have some curative double tech.

Be sure that you do some random fights before the Battle, that way your characters will learn the Double and triple techs.

Lavos is very hard to beat on your first time through the game. It took me three tries before I beat him. I think I used Frog, Robo, and Crono. Oh, and definitely get some prism armor for your team! It's the strongest stuff you can get.

Yeah, Marle's pretty weak until you do New Game + You should definitely use Frog as your healer instead. :)

Crono Robo and Frog is the right way to go. Robo and Frog have some very good curative double tech and they all have triple tech wich does lots of damage.

Karpo, what team did you use when you first beat Lavos? Did you use Frog, Crono, and Robo? I think they have the most powerful triple tech, and I used them to beat Lavos the first time around. I also like the triple tech for Ayla, Crono, and Frog. I think this team was my second choice to fight Lavos.

Yeah, Lavos is pretty tough the first time around. I think he's the hardest boss I've ever fought in an RPG. Even FF6 and Chrono Cross was easier.

After Chrono trigger, Chron Cross was a dissapointment. Well it is and ok RPG I just had too high expectation.

And I think FF 6 was much harder than CT.

Thanks for the tips!! but I've tried 4 times and STILL haven't beat him!! :( twice with Crono, Frog and Marle and another two with Crono, Frog and Robo!! I must not be good at rpgs :dead:

yeah I did, i'm on level 55 for crono, 52 for frog and 51 for Robo. You think I should go some more? the problem is when he puts a clock or a star over my characters head, you know when they go crazy or something. Only crono isn't effected by that and then I can' heal well.

ack!! I'm sorry but personnally I think video games went kersplat after around 1995 or 1996. Sure graphics and all improved. and the echnology is incredible. But I really don't find many new games fun, all the blood ang gore now is just preety sick :dead:
I'll take games like Super Mario Bros, Chrono Trigger and Street Fighter 2 anyday over them!!

YAY!!!!! guess who beat the game today?? Yup!! It took a little level uping and giving Robo some new equipent. But I won!!!! And the ending was nce too, I like how the king got stuck holding up the bell and how Crono's mom runs through the portal :lol:

PSX has a really cool anime ending, where Chrono and Marle gets married and Lucca founds Kid in the woods.

Yeah it's really worth it. The only problem with psx version is that the game loads before every battle.

every battle? ouch!. One thing i like about Chrono trigger is that the battle happens instently on the place you are standing. but why would Lucca find a kid? thats weird...

Yeah, It is a semi sequel. It was good game by itself, but compared to chrono trigger it was a minor dissapointment. I hope they will do a real sequel someday.

I liked Chrono Cross, but I too, was slightly disappointed. I was expecting a lot more, but I can understand how hard it was for Chrono Cross to match the legacy of Chrono Trigger.

Oh, and Karpo, I've heard rumors that Square Enix (they merged! :teek:) are planning a third Chrono game...

Hmm... I remember reading on www.rpgamer.com that Squre purchased a domain name. I think it was ChronoStrike.com, or something like that. They did the same for a Saga Frontier domain.

Ok. I hope there will be a New Chrono game. I can never be as good as CT but It deserves a sequel. Now that square is doing their first sequel ever FF X2, Maybe they could do the same for CT.

Well I play prtty many console RPG's. Best are Chrono, Suikoden, and Final Fantasy series.

Suikoden!! I loved that game! I still need to play parts II and III... I'm so behind in that series.

Oh, and I love the Secret of Mana series, too! Those were so awesome. They're like a mixture of Zelda and Final Fantasy. :D

Yeah Suikoden sries is great. I haven't played suikoden 3, it's not even released in europe yet.

And secret Of the Mana is a truly great game. Espcecially with a friend. I liked Seiken Densetsu 3(aka. Secret of Mana 2) too, but it's not as good as oroginal. Legend of Mana on the other hand is not that great.

Ah... I like those types of games, too. I especially liked Sonic Adventure. :D

Yeah, I played the original Secret of Mana with my cousin. Having up to 3 players was so cool. I then got to play Seiken Densetsu 3 via rom, but I thought the story wasn't as well developed as the second game. Still haven't beaten it... Legend of Mana had awesome, hand-drawn animation. Too bad it was lacking in the plot department. There is no main plot; just a bunch of mini-plots. After I beat the game, there was absolutely no closure. Still, I thought gameplay was decent, and there's no way I'm gonna complain about the wonderful music or the eye-candy graphics. ;)

Secret of Mana is definetly the best one of them, But It's pretty neat how Seiken Densetsu 3 has 3 diffrent endings. Even the Final Dungeon and The Boss are diffrent depending on who you choose as your main character.
