Hello everybody,

Well, here is one weird thread. I just happened to come across this website, where this guy (http://www.outpostnine.com/images/atwork/images/jeff.jpg) is talking about his experiences as a teacher in Japan.

Now, I don't have anything against the Japanese, but since I've read this, I am even happier that I'm not Japanese. I do have other reasons, which I will post on request. I mean, being like those kids there, and I'd certainly be one of the worse student there... can't get much worse than that. This statement "being for not being Japanese" is an expression based on knowing myself, and knowing what I know about Japanese culture.

On the other hand side, I'd love to spend a few months in "the land of the rising sun". Just experiencing the culture and not being able to incorporate as a fullfledged member of it. You know what I mean, whatever I'd do, I'd still be the gaijin. And I'd most certainly enjoy the media overkill you get on these crowded streets, since I'm more sort of an urban person. I can't stand mountains (and that coming from a Swiss guy), villages and places where it gets quiet after 5pm in general. I need to be in a living environment.

Other than that, what is there to say? I love that guy's humour. He is funny, but not vulgar (something German and Swiss comedians yet have to learn).

Oh, yeah, the link: Just click me and you'll be amazed (http://www.outpostnine.com/editorials/teacher.html)

And I'd love to hear what other people think about those reports.

Enjoy

I read this site a while back. I forget who sent it to me, though. It's pretty funny, and it's also true.

Whoa.

That was pretty awesome. He's got a pretty engaging writing style and a damn fine sense of humor. That article on Gaijin Optic Blast got all manner of chuckles from me. I love reading about ex-pats living abroad and about all the weird little cultural oddities they come across in their travels. Germany's got their fair share, but at least I don't have to worry about Japanese school kids trying to shove their fingers up my butt. (I can't believe I just wrote that.)
