Should PlayMates stop making TMNT figures and let another company make them? I think PlayMates is doing a pretty good job but I would favor the figures to have more articulation. I think SOTA Toys would be the best company to make TMNT figures if they were made like their Street Fighter figures. The sculpts and articulation would be awesome! Also all the figures would be in scale so Leather Head and Razor Fist would not be so small like how PlayMates made them.
What do you think? Should PlayMates let another company take over TMNT figure making?

No because Playmates does great merchandising they just need to work on the design.

Don't count on another company making the toys.Playmates have the rights till the new show is done. When ever that is.

Eh....I think if other turtles toys are made they should be made by an adult toy company like Mac F*Not him but someone like him* Playmates is fine for kids but us vet fans deserve awesome figures based off the orgnial Eastmen and Laird characters/concepts

Yes, another company should make the figures.
I don't even mind all the stupid variants and junk that much. If the kids love 'em, and more TMNT get sold, then fine by me.
What I do mind is that the quality of the toys is going downhill fast. The first few waves were great, but the figures are starting to look more and more like Happy Meal toys.

The thing is, toys sell to kids. Yes, adults collect them, but kids play with them. Toy companies are concerned about what kids want, and I'm sure we adults factor maybe at some point, but kids are the ones they are most concerned with. At least with this property. The cold cast statues, those are for us, because no kid has an extra hurdred bucks sittin' around that they can buy that with. Although, I've said this before and will say it again, I don't see what you're so upset about with playmates. Maybe they aren't as articulate as some of the other figures out there, but at least their designs don't suffer for that reason. My Elektra from ML is a beautiful figure, but she's got cracks and lines all over her from where she's articulated. Personally, I'm relieved that TMNT doesn't have that problem.

In my opinion I think hasbro should make them, but since that will not happen
maybe playmates could enhance the sculpt, make the figures scaled more accuratly ,case in point LeatherHead ,stonebitter ,razorfist, even shredder,
maybe make some of the acssesories more accurate like the shredders SWORD OF TENGU,the ultimate ninjas mask or should I say "masks".
They sell for the little kids but adult fans want more.

I think our best hopes at a more adult version of figures would be when and if they ever make TMNT 4 the movie and then they can liscense that out to a company like McFarlane (who I would LOVE to see what he could do with the line) or Mezco or NECA.
Other than that looks like its just the same old thing playmates keeps dishin out. Though i like the new card seen at ToyFair.

As much as I'd love to see it happen, it'll be a frosty morning in He11 before Playmates willingly hands over the rights to produce and market TMNT action figures. In terms of quality, Playmates is definitely capable of doing better. However, as long as kids/collectors/whoever are buying the crap that the Big P has churned out for the last few waves, Playmates doesn't give a rat's furry behind. (No bad Splinter jokes, please!)
In all honesty, I see no reason to discontinue the current, kid-friendlyTMNT toy line, but I would like to see Playmates release an additional TMNT line that was better sculpted, more articulated, and aimed at the caliber of collector who buys figures like SOTA's Street Fighter figures. (And yes, I would accept a higher price point for such toys . . . .)

Playmates is doin' a good job so far and I think another toy line would mess up the TMNT figures really badly. For the TMNT 4 figures Sideshow Collectibles could make the figures. They did great with there Marvel figures and Army of Darkness figures. McFarlane wouldn't be a bad idea either to make the figures for TMNT 4. Playmates shouldn't anyone else make the figures. Even though some of the Battle Nexus figures and the variants are silly I think Playmates is still doin' a good job.

I emailed the president of Sota a whlie back asking if he could do TMNT Movie figures in his now playing line and he said he tried to secure the license but Playmates doesn't want any other companies making the figures. THEY'RE GREEDY!

You all raise valid points, but exactly when did Plyamates think that make Mystic Raph and Mike look like they're high on speed appeal to the kids?

Playmates should continue making the toys. You start with them you should finiah with them. They are aslo doing a great marketing and distributing the toys so I don't see any reason to have another company take over.

Yes, because I want TMNT figures in Hero Clix. Official figures, not those fan made ones.
According to the guys at Mirage, Playmates was the onlyone who didn't want Wizkids to make Clix figures of them, otherwise they'd have been in the first Indy Clix set.
And, honestly, the new figures SUCK. I don't want uber articulation, I just want what we had in wave 1. I haven't picked up a new TMNT figure since Nano because of that... I know I'm not getting my money worth.

I would absolutely love TMNT figures with more articulation and detail.
I hadn't collected action figures of any kind since the original Turtles series except for a few Spider-Man movie figures. I started collecting Transformers again when Beast Wars came out and until recently have only been collecting TF Alternator toys.
But I always liked the Marvel Legend toys. I finally broke down a little while back and got Modern Armor Iron Man. I have bought a bunch since then and just love the sculpt and articulation.
I've though about starting to collect TMNT toys since I love the show so much, but I just don't think they'd be much fun for myself since I would be very limited in posing them.
