Alright, let me start. The turtle craze back in the day was such a high for us kids and everyone was hysterical about them. Well one of my more prominent memories starts on a sunny Spring afternoon as the school bus I was riding pulled up to our stop. I saw my mom talking to one of my friends mothers through the window and as I got off for the usual hug and constant turtle talk she surprisingly cut me off and told me how surprised she was that so many kids had the toys. She told me she was talking to a couple of parents and was convinced to buy me one. I couldn't believe my ears!!! That evening we went to a local RockBottom in the neighborhood and low and behold a whole end cap devoted to the turtles!!!. They didn't have Leo as that would have been my first choice but it was still VERY hard. Since I had no TMNT stuff aside from some books I couldn't make up my mind as I stood there for what seemed like an eternity trying to figure out which turtle to get. I could care less of the other characters at the time, the turtles were top priority as they were quite rare to find at the time due to the large demand. So I continued to stand there trying to decide. I didn't want to just get one because he would be all alone brotherless and when my mom heard that she told me to pick up all three of the turtles!!!!! :o :o :o That nigth was one of my favorite of many TMNT memories and I still ask her about it time to time. Oh, the memories of childhood. Hope you enjoyed! :)

The very first time I seen the TMNT is in the 2nd movie, "Secret of the Ooze". One of our family's friend's son, Blake, traded another movie for the TMNT movie. When I was 4, I asked Blake if I could watch it because I was of course curious because it was so popular back then as well as today. I was afraid for a silly readon because I thought the mutated turtles would look like monsters and I would have nightmares about it. But, I feel in love with the TMNT and I had dreams instead of nightmares. :D
-Short but this is my fondest TMNT memory because it was my first!-

I have pictures....but i'll only post them if u want me to....don't wanna kill a thread...:P
I do remember playing with my freinds and we never argued over turtles, we each liked diffrent one....i was always Raph, of course. i used to use sticks with 3 prongs or those tent stakes with the lil' green plastic piece as sais....dangerous, but hey i was 8, i didn't care....we also played with the figs...i never had any varients of the turtles...my parents didn't see the sence in having 27 raphies....but i had most of the first releases....if only i hadn't sold them....:(

that sounds cool. The first tmnt ep I have ever saw was where I was 3 and I was flipping the channels and I came accross this green turtle, he was Mikey although I did not know who he was so anyway it was the ep "Michangelo Toys Around" My favorite episode today, luckily I have this ep so I will never forget about it.

When I was about 10, some of the neighbourhood kids took over their parents garage and built a makeshift "sewer system" out of cardboard boxes, shipping crates and an old AF issue parachute. Some kid with questionably legible handwriting scribbled "THE LAIR" on the side of the largest box. The insides were then outfitted with flashlights for lighting, our moms' hair dying towels for carpetting and other such trinkets we smuggled out of our homes.
After school, all the kids in our cul-de-sac (eight in total) would strap on whatever TMNT gear they had and then go chill out in the Lair until our parents announced it was dinner time. The only requirement to hang out in the Lair was that you were a Ninja Turtle. So at any given moment, there would be 3 Leonardos, 2 Michaelangelos, 2 Raphaels and 1 Donatello. Splinter was played by my decrepit Manchester Terrier/Poodle, Robyn, who always wore doggie jackets because her hair was falling off and she was always shivering.
The kids who lived in the cul-de-sac across the main road from us were instantly coined "The Foot Clan", and we'd plot their demise on a regular basis.

Well, the old TMNT show was pretty much over by the time I was old enough to remember it. But when I was reeeaaallly little I had a plastic ninja turtles raincoat. The back looked like a shell, and the hood was a head. I think it was Raph.
Also, Next Mutation was around when I was in elementary school. Having only five channels, I liked it. Me and my friends would play that all the time. We would ride our bikes around the yard and call them motorcycles.
I remember we had 'ninja hide and seek' as well. Whoever was 'it' had to be Shredder. Then he / she would count to 100, and we would hide. Then as they looked for us, we would have to quietly get back to base, but if you made a sound, and they saw you, you were out. *sigh* I forgot all about ninja hide and seek until just now!
We had ninja tag, too, but I don't remember how that worked.

One that I remember was when my mom rented the first movie for me from Blockbuster. When I watched it I had more respect and more fanboyism for the Turtles. I was little when I rented and when my mom said she had to return it I cried. I wanted to literally see the movie again. Blockbuster should let you renew what you rent. I loved the TMNT more I thought I would after I first saw the movie. If I didn't pick that movie up I woulda picked up some Spider-Man cartoon. Now I have the actual tape and the DVD of the first movie.

I think this was either the first or second Christmas when I knew their was no Santa. Since money was tight that year I bought myself a Christmas present and that was the Double Barreled Plunger Gun :D That was my first and sadly last TMNT vehicle so it was very memorable. Aside from that I also got a Mutagen Man as a surprise. I was really happy because I never found him and always wanted him cause he looked so cool on the back of the cards. Anyway, that was a nice surprise! :D

Ah... Memories......
I remember the series had just started, and I was hooked just from the opening intro... it was great. Well, the next day, having lunch on the field, some boys a year older were playing with one of the figures... I was staring at it like crazy and he said "Hey kid, whaddya looking at?" And I was like "Oh, where you get him? Can I have a hold" To which surprisingly, he said "Yeah, go for it"... I played for it for a little while, so not to be rude, and he said I can find them anywhere, he got his from a store called "Farmers"... so I got home, told my little brother, and we continued to pester my dad until he said he's get us one. IT was Friday, so he took us out that night. I can't remember if they had the regular figures, but we both grabbed a Wacky Action figure each... I got Raph, and my brother got Donatello... and it all took off from there... more and more, we'd do heaps of chores, and go out every 2 weeks to get another... it was great. We also got a little money every week to put into bank accounts, and one day me and my bro were sick, and sent mum out with our bank savings to get us some toys... she got me that Trashcan slime throwing vehicle thing, and Psycho from Toxic Crusaders... I had no idea Toxic Crusader figures were out, so it was a nice surprise :) Bye bye savings... haha.
The only childhood memories I have of TMNT are my drawings. I really don’t have a good memory for past events, but I distinctly remember all the TMNT drawing I did. And I remember drawing girl turtles. I wish I knew where those drawings got to. They might have been saved and stored away, but I wouldn’t know where to look.

Lemme see... I was 5. I remember walking into a store that, at the time, was called Ben Franklin. I walked to the toys isle as most kids my age do and I say an endcap full of TMNT! They had never been seen to my eyes before and I was hooked on them. I pulled my mom over and WANTED ONE! She usually was all like, not today, etc. But she said yes! I saw one with blue on his wear and instantly wanted it because blue was my favorite color.
The next Sat. I woke up early and turned on Cartoons. I was flipping through the channels and saw the end credits for TMNT. I freaked out! The next weekend I woke up early enough to catch it... sense then, I've been hooked on them!

I remember when I was around 3-5 I use to go to my friends who's names were William & Chris who lived all the way in El Paso, Texas because I live in Alamogordo, NM. Anyways we would always go to the mall there and buy either a TMNT toy or a Power Ranger toy from Kaybee. One day we went into Kaybee and my Mom and their Mom said we could get one toy we all instantly rushed to the TMNT section and I got the Mutating Leo, William got Mutating Mikey, and Chris got Mutating Raph. God I missed those days. Also back then they had the Tournament Fighters game, I would always beat William, but Chris when he put Shredder against me I never had a ghost of a chance  . Ahh my TMNT memories.

I remember the first time I saw a TMNT figure, they were out in the US but the show hadnt yet come on in Canada yet (nor had the figs) my best friend just came over and had a Leonardo, I was still into Ghostbusters at the time. Me and my friend drove Leo around with the Ghostbusters in Ecto 1. I wanted a TMNT fig bad.... time went by, people knew I wanted them... I had to wait a while, my aunt went down to Duluth, and when she came back she dropped Leonardo and Rapheal off for me. I cant remember being so happy as a kid lol it was the greatest day. I set them up beside my bed, and the turtle craze begun lol.
Later my mom went again to Duluth for the weekend and she brough back Mikey and Don another happy moment. But going to see the TMNT movie was pretty awesome I had to bug my parents for a while, it was the first movie I saw at probably 5 yrs old.
I remember ppl my aunt/mom etc said u wont like those forever you will grow out of them, I said I would like TMNT forever... well I sold my TMNT figs at about 13, then I got back into it lol. Bought some used off Ebay and watch the new toon and collect the figs... I didnt even mention the comics.

I also remember kids stealing my tmnt toys. But I do not really want to go into a lot of details about that. I also remember when the next mutation previews came on. I was so exitied because I had not seen tmnt since the red sky series. It was a big COWABUNGA.

So many to choose from. I got the TMNT "subterranean hockey" game for Christmas one year, after months of whining about wanting it. My dad put it together that morning, but we quickly found out that the top piece that you move the players on was a hunk of warped plastic. The game didn't work. I cried and threw a huge fit about it.

One I remember was whenever my grandma came to visit form Texas she'd buy a few Ninja Turtle figures. I remember goin' to Toys R Us or Target while I was in the cart in the Ninja Turtles action figures aisle and pickin' out what I wanted. Some figures that she bought me would be Krang wih his walker, Movie Star Foot Soldier, and Mutant Master Donatello. Those figure were really rad and I'm glad that my grandma spoiled me with the TMNT figures I wanted.

OH yeah, mentioning games reminds me of another memory... one Christmas my brother and I got a TMNT game each, and mine was that awesome tower one with the Katanas through the slots in the building... I had no idea how to play it, as I was so young, but loved the little figures that were in there.
Also, another one is on my birthday, and I remember wanting the TMNT game for the Amiga... having no idea if there really was one, and then surprisingly, my dad of all people, who bought us lots of stuff, but never listened or cared for celebrations of any kind (He's a typical Egyptian man...haha) turned up after work one day with none other than TMNT... man, I was so excited... I expected it to be like the arcade, but it wasn't, but it was sooo awesome... I always remember being called for cake time when I was on the underwater stage... and that music... chilling. :)

Speaking of games. I was invited to a friends nirthday party at an arcade store and we had unlimited access to all the arcades for free. I spent the next three hours plauing TMNT the only best arcade game of our generation. We played that game from start to finish! A lot of fun and we all bonded that much more! :D

I remember being about 3, maybe younger. This was when the TMNT were on their way out for a while. I think it was like 92, 93. Anyway, I would get up on Saturday's at like four in the morning, wake up my mom, and ask her to turn on the tv (cause i couldn't reach it) so I could watch it. Then Sailor Moon would come on after.
I had one pair of Sailor Moon shoes and one pair of Turtle shoes. One day I just wore both to preschool and people made fun of me. I threw both shoes at them.

A really memorable memory would be whenever i went to my mom's friend's roomate's house. Whenever I went there with my mom I would play with my mom's friend's roomate's son's Ninja Turtle figures. That was really rad cuz I played with a lot of figures that I didn't have and I really had a great time. The son didn't really pay attention to his figures or really care that's why they were crammed in a collector's case. Some figures that I played with would be Foot Soldier,Killer Bee,Mouser, and Sewer Scout Raphael. Hopefully my mom's friend didn't move with her roomate. If she didn't move then maybe I can have all the roomate's son's Ninja Turtle figures. All I have to do is ask and take all of 'em. There free which is the best part.

I got a slew of memories, but one I remeber the most is when me, my brother, and my dad were in Toy's "R" Us and we got the Technodrome as soon as we got home we wen't in the basement and he built it for us....one hour later it was broke....not really sturdy enough for how we played. :ohwell:
my memories...ahh....
when i was really young (i don't know...four maybe) the Next Mutation show would be on. i had this Raphael mask i made myself :P (yes, i was smart enough to cut out eyeholes) when i heard the theme music, i would race for the TV, then forget about my mask, then race back, and then pull it over my face as i race back to the TV and watch my heros :) then i went to school, mom THREW OUT the BANDANA i MADE MYSELF!!! then several years later when i almost forgot about them - the NEW TMNT was on TV and rekindled the fandom inside me. i browsed afew pages and then found the 'drome - my second home
sad (and pretty much pathetic) story of my life

My parents would never buy me any TMNT action figures when I was little (because they weren't girly enough or something) and my brother was too old to appreciate TMNT by that time, so I couldn't potentially steal his :( I'd always have to go over to my best friend's house (who luckily happened to be a boy) and snag some play time with his action figures. Every afternoon afterschool, we'd get his action figures and sit in front of the TV and recreate the scences as they played. And sadly, because I was the only girl, I always had to be April :( (not that there's anything wrong with her, I just wanted to be Leonardo at least once :P )

TMNT childhood memories eh?
Well before I moved to military housing (this was in Germany) I lived in a German neighborhood...we only had one channel, AFRTS....I got hooked on TMNT right off cuz I liked turtles. I'd also go to my german neighbors house and watch it on their tv...so there's many eps I saw in German before I english.
Then when we moved to military housing I was considered the popular kid. Everyday at 4pm all the kids would come over to my house and watch TMNT. The living room was full to the brim of kids when the TMNT were on Oprah Winfrey. *lol*
I also had some friends who were members of the TMNT fan club. Plus they had a satelite dish.(brother and sister). They had every TMNT action figure out on the market. I'd often spend the night at their house and we'd have a turtle party. We'd watch TMNT straight from America. Eps that we wouldn't see for a while on AFRTS, we'd watch the videos, and play with the action figures.
Ah..that was the life...from age 8 - 13 I had fun with TMNT.
When my dad got stationed to the U.S tho in 1993...I kinda got out of TMNT. I was not even aware that the series was still on. Then in 1997 I got hooked on TMNT again with the Next Mutation.
I guess Im lucky that my family encouraged my TMNT fandom...my dad even met Raph and Leo while he was on TDY in Vegas. They were at the grande opening of the Toys R US there...I think it was around 1990. My dad promised me he'd get their autographs but he never did....no surprise there really.. :P
When my grandparents were on mission (they're mormon) in England for a couple years they'd get me Hero Turtle stuff....I still have it too...a notebook, some stickers, and candy that I've never eaten. *lol*
wow Ra, you must be young if you where 4 and watching next mutatation. did you ever catch the orginal tmnt on tv????
sadly, no (not to my memory. i may have watched it, but it's long forgoten now :() but, i have seen two videos of the old show - "Heros in Halfshells" and "Super Bebop and Mighty Rocksteady". it's weird to see the old toon after you've grown used to the new toon. but, it's still funny
Mikey: Cowabunga dude! accent on the cow
i cracked up when i saw that
EDIT
opps! turns out i was 6 or 7 when i was watching it. no wonder i could remember it so clearly. i should have known

I remember my favorite character being Krang, I even wore some sort of belt with a hole in it, and in that belt, I would have one of my stuffed animals (me doing the android bit, the stuffed animal doing the Krang bit) (I was very little at the time)
I also remember a TV commercial for Turtles mini playsets "look: the turtles are shrinking"
I also remember, some point back in 1996 (I was 8 years old, turned 9 on the birthday I had that year) , when in my country (England) , "Teenage mutant ninja turtles" was shown on Nickelodeon, one day, I was watching the episode where at some point, the Turtles were being chased py a papparazi (spelling? ) , and after a short while, the episode reset to the opening credits. Suddenly, a "technical difficulties" message came up ( "sorry, we have been dogged" ) .
Well, apart from the TMNT videogame memories I have mentioned on the videogames board, the ones I have mentioned here are the only ones I can come up with for now. If I come up with more, I'll mention them.

Some random memories of mine:
-Having to rework some of my "adventures" to explain why my April O'Neil figure was missing her arm (Me as April - "Hey guys! I just got back from reporting in the jungle! A lion ripped off my arm!")
-Me and my friends making up our very own Ninja, Ninja Rap! This was my contribution:
April O'Neil on Channel 6 News,
Raphael's got a very short fuse!
Word. :goofygri:
-Thinking Krang looked like a wad of chewed bubble gum when I first started watching the cartoon.
-Getting stuck on the same place over and over again on the original NES game. I can't even remember where it was any more, but I'm sure if I had the game now it would be like the easiest thing to figure out.

I am proud to say I still have some of the TMNT magazine. I don't know if anyone remembers it but it had to be fifteen years ago. I got it montly, and it was full of articles and fan letters.
Since I am a May 1984 baby I have been a solid fan since the original series debuted A few years later. I would have to thank my parents for always turning it on the TV for me at that point since I was like three.
By 5 at least me and my best guy friend at the time who was also my neighbor would play TMNT in his basement and I even remember performing an episode for our moms at one point. I wonder if she remembers that :ohwell:
It all led to a very healthy obssession. :D In fact for my 21st bithday in celebration my cake this week is TMNT themed.
A little embarrassing of a memory is singing and dancing along to that Singing TMNT craze "Coming out of their Shells tour when I was like six." I still have the tape...*Cringes*

Oh, it's some time ago, but I remember a few things from my childhood.
One thing is still pretty clear to me: When I was younger and had watched the show for some time (I've been around four or five, I think), we couldn't afford to buy pizza. So, to eat like the turtles, I took a piece of cheese and sliced it like pizza instead  I can't remember how often I did it - I just know, I have never eaten that much cheese in my life...

I remember watching the turtles covered in my TMNT sleeping bag and eating the cookies that were like animal crakers. i also had a bin full of tmnt toys and i just loved the technodrome (sometimes barbie came over to play). sorry i was sort of a girl.
The turtle movies also were worn out, my tmnt 1 was thrown away from watching it so much! The VCR ate it. I just loved them so much and still do today! :thyper: :tpizza:
I love hearing about all of your memories too, it is nice to know that i am not the only turtle freak out there!

i used to buy turtles gum that came with stickers.
i was well on my way to cover my whole bed with turtles stickers, until my mother threw away that bed. oh well.
and i also used to pause my turtles movies, and draw the characters.
got a pic of armaggon i drew when i was six.
i showed it to some kids in the neighbourhood, and they thought that my father had drawn it, and i had coloured it, or something.

I remember I got into Ninja Turtles when I was in the third grade. I watched the original animated series on Television after scholl every single day like clockwork. Then sometime later it was on Saturday mornings and I continued to watch it then. Eventually our area network quit running the show and I think that is around when I started to lose interest in it. I never saw many of the later seasons and episodes because I'd only catch them when out of town and another channel somewhere ran them.
The season 1 and 2 DVD sets were like a trip back in time for me. Almost all of those episodes I hadn't seen in well over 12-14 years. The extra four "never before seen" episodes on the season 1 disc were never before seen by me. How odd that the turtles were fighting aliens and stuff much later, and I saw a picture in another topic of what Krang's body looked like? I never knew they showed that. I remember when I was a child my friends and I always thought he was a big stone soldier that got blown up by one of the rebel factions in dimension X and that his surviving brain was exiled to Earth.
I still have a bunch of my action figures, although they are mostly the original cast. The four turtles, April, Splinter, Casey, Shredder, Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, two foot soldiers and Usagi and Slash. I had some others that got broken or thrown away long ago but those I listed were ones I saved and luckily found recently and have on display in my room now.
I hope they continue to release season sets of the original series on DVD. I very much enjoy watching them again. Surprised I was that I did not take to the new Turtles animated series very well, especially considering that at one time I had a bunch of the original comics...
I just hope they release the DVDs up to the seasons I never saw so I can see how things progressed after I stopped watching. The thing that annoyed me though was how Michelangelo used a grappling hook later on and never used his nunchucks anymore. I always hated that.

This thread is extremely old, but I would like to add my fondest childhood TMNT memory...
Dropping a letter down the sewers when it was raining (because it would get there faster) to Donatello.

My friends and I used to walk to school when we were in Elementary. One of those mornings we walked over a sewer grate and I shouted into it, "Turtles, I believe in you!"
It may have been a little joke, but by the time I got to High School the joke was on me. This kid named Bruce who heard about it from someone who heard about it from someone taunted me about it.
Adolescence can be such awkward time. I remember how much it bothered me then; now, not at all.
I don't know if he realized it, but he was in my Cub Scout troop and I beat him like a drum with my Turtles Pinewood Derby car.

Lol, I'm sorry but that is ADORABLE! Lol :D
I remember getting a Turtle Com toy from a Burger King Kid's Club meal, which had the image of all four turtles inside. Then I would watch the cartoon and pretend the turtles were commenting on the episode through the Turtle Com, lol.

I used to love that Turtle Com toy! I'm not sure if I had the BK one, but I had one. It was so easy to think that the Turtles were real and communicating with us back then. Ah, the innocence of childhood.

I don't actually remember this, but according to my grandmother this is how I got into TMNT. One day when I was a kid I was at my grandmother's, as my parents were at work (I think, but never mind), and she asked me if we should go buy a shovel and a bucket (plastic thingies you now). We walked into the local toy story and one of the first things that caught my eye was a small box filled with green little figures. I picked up the blue one and was like "**** shovel and bucket, I want this one!", and more or less forced my grandmother to buy it. I played all day with this few-inches-high-figure, and from that day TMNT has always been my favorites.
Also, when I got a few years older, we used to rent the TMNT 2 movie from the local video store. Every single time I was watching this movie, I was so ecstatic when the turtles were about to show up for the first time in the movie (when they run down the stairs to help Keno). I was literally jumping around the couch shouting "Here they come!" to my dad every time I saw this scene.

well, to pick one as the best is probably not gonna cut it for me so I'll just remember one and will write another one if this thread contínues a lil while...
so let's see....okay, so the ot had just started this year and I was watching it with my brother and sister since the first episode aired fortunatelly;)...I was so in love with it that my biggest wish in the world for christmas was a ninja turtles action figure, since I had witnessed those at a neighboor's kid...
back then on christmas eve, noone was allowed in the living room(it was locked up for that occasion) until late late afternoon...you know that's the way it had been at my home, in germany we exchange gifts in the evening on december 24th...so we weren't allowed to sneak in and see presents or the christmas tree or any of the preparations and so we had to entertain ourselfes the whole day;)...which enlongated that day in a mystical way;)...often my older brother and me would go outside and play in the snow and often we would get into fights and chases and stuff with other kids but not on that christmas...(that is also why I love the leonardo micro series comic book so much)I vividly remember my brother jumping up and down his bed for fun while I was playing on the floor with some lego stones...and I said how much I wished to get a ninja turtle..he told me he overheard my mother saying she wanted to get me one but there were all sold out...;(I was touched that she had tried to get one for me, but the sadness about the news that there wasn't going to be a ninja turtle under the tree for me was really great...;)of course in the end my brother was just teasing me and when I unwrapped my first ninja turtle that night I was so happy, man!!hahaha, it was whacky action leonardo with the yellow weapons and he would rotate his arms....man, I was so intrigued by the paintings on the cardboard of the figure and how cool his belt and his shell looked;)

I remember being upset when my shirt I got in 1st grade shrunk in the washer because of bleach, and it looked more and more like my little brothers "baby turtle" shirt which I didn't like, as I had a cooler shirt. I wish my mom bought more figures back then, given how much so many are worth now! We didn't have as much money and only my father had a job. The only time we could mention TMNT in grade school was at lunch/recess, and it seemed like my school didn't have real big fans and teneded to simply play their other stuff that was popular at the time. Apparently probably in the past two months, I've probably tripled my TMNT collection; it's a frachise that's not THAT old or well-known and hasn't had a comeback, so I'm enjoying this opportunity to collect all these things to pass on to future generations.
But my most fond memory was probably around the summer of 1990 when I was on the boardwalk at Ocean City, MD where I saw someone dressed in a Raphael costume and I asked "Where do you live?", and Raph responded "Fifth avenue", and I hadn't been to NYC yet and still thought of it as a mystical place, and even believed that the man behind the shell played Raph in the movie!
One day when I was 5 years old ('91) and was playing with my turtle figures at my day-mothers house my dad came and picked me up, which was unusual, so I got so happy that I threw my Raphael figure in the stone floor so hard that it broke into pieces. I got from overjoyed to sad in 3 sec...
A happier moment I remember is from when I was 6 years old and my grandmother gave me a knitted turtles sweater in birthday present. I was so happy that I cried a little :)

Same here! I remember that i picked my first toy is michaelangelo and my favorite color is Orange, i loved his quote, "cowabunga, dude!" And eat Pizza. I remember my first costume when i was 11. I remember my first tmnt shirt when i was 9. My first collection thats above so i was addicted to tmnt collections since.
