Actually, there weren't seperate volumes of the Archie series. The first three issues were simply the mini-series that was based on the first season of the show, then Archie came out with their own original comic series, starting out with the first two episodes in 1988 and then going off into their own reality.

In the Image series:

-Don gets blasted to bits(Issue #1) and turned into a cyborg (Issue #3)
-Raph gets half of his face burned to a crisp PERMANENTLY(Issue#1)
and becomes The Shredder (Around Issues#12-15).
-Leo gets his left hand bitten off.

Michelangelo remains THE ONLY ONE unscathed!

Yeah i've readed about that...it sucks :dead:
Still i'd like to see it for the heck of it, but im not as interested in em as i am about the mirage ones or the archie ones :ohwell:

Why does Raph become The Shredder in the Image series?

In Image, it was because he stumbled across the armor while trying to get away from a gun totting mob (long story.) He was kinda talked into leading the remainder of the NY Foot, and took on the title of Shredder and led the NY Foot until Oroku Pimiko challenged him.

I think it was appropriate, seeing as how Raph unintentionally started the Foot Clan in the first place.

Did Raph start the Foot in the original Mirage comics or only in the Image comics?

In Mirage. It's a two part comic called Masks, #46 & 47. Renet takes them back in time to 14th century Japan. There, the Turtles team up with Samurai to fight Romero Savanti. Blah, blah, blah. Raphael befriends two Ronin warriors and they train with him, learning his moves. At the very end of #47, those two Ronin head off to start "The Foot". Ironic, no?

I read the reviews for those issues in the official web site's comic book archives. I definatly want to order those issues after Thanksgiving.
