View Full Version : The Official Technodrome E3 2005 Thread

Ok, this thread may be a little silent until May starts, but I decided to start it early because so much info is leaking out all over the place lately. Talk about anything, anywhere that has to do with E3. Any system, any fanbase, any news, whatever, post it here. I'll maintain/mod it until May 10, then I'll disappear for LA's Strip Clubs and other sh*t until May 16th for the big day at which time someone else will need to take over the thread. Come E3, I'll be popping in whenever I have the time be it from the motel or the show floor to drop info, links, pictures, and whatever the hell else I can find of intrest. There'll be even more when I get home and get the non-digital photo's developed.

Until then, I'll leave with another funny little quote from that Aries guy who had all the Revolution info earlier...

"Sony pulled the plug on the March PS3 unveiling becuase they weren't happy with the progress of their tech demos. What I find interesting about this is that it, in a way, proves how difficult the ps3 will be to develope for. If Sony themselves can't even manage to come up with decent tech demos then how will other developers fair in developing full games."

Edit

New poll for fun. Vote and give your reason you believe "insert console maker here" is gonna win the battle. Here's mine.

Microsoft has the most concrete news coming, and Sony obviously got the processing power, but Nintendo has they mystery. They intentionally save their goods for E3 because it gives them a chance to have a big blowout while the industry is watching. No one knows kack sh*t about Revolution and thus everyone will want to see what Nintendo's got going. THey did this on purpose. It's their chance to steal the show or completely blow it. I believe they have a hell of a lot of stuff we don't see coming. THere's that rumor of a new Smash Bros for Revolution online with character customization and dustructable arenas, Super Mario Bros for DS, DS online, land of course the allmighty Zelda. Insiders are claiming Rev is more powerful that Xbox 360 Which is a damn good thing for Ninty. They've learned more this gen than any other, and they've learned humility. They know they've got to pull out the big ass guns and fire them all this May, and I believe they'll do it. Last year was a set up for this year, and this year is gonna be huge. Thus I think Nintendo will win.

Besides, Sony's having trouble getting tech demos working last MONTH. There're most likely gonna have very little to show on PS3 other than tech specs and PSP connectivity, and then some powerpoint demonstration on PSP's sales. Ninty and Microsoft will put on a show.

Heh heh, powerpoint presentation, that sounds like such a sly dig (little PSPs flying all over the screen).

I voted Nintendo. I don't think Xbox360 or PS3 will really show us anything new or ground breaking. Revolution and DS is where it's at. I can't wait for more concrete information about DS noline, and Revolution's such a mystery and so much has been speculated that it's got me really looking forward to it :D

The poll is a hard choice for me. If Nintendo pulls something off that isn't a ridiculous gimmick, they have E3 in the bag. Especially with a Zelda showing, add in Mario 128 and some possibly huge Revolution games and no one can stand a chance.

This is Nintendo's finest hour. They have nothing but great things to show, including new ways to play your games. Microsoft and Sony aren't doing anything new, but they are substantially increasing the graphics and keeping the franchises we all know and love. I think everyone's going to do well this E3, but Nintendo has the most potential.

DrSpengler

I don't have the money/time to play as many video games as I used to, unfortunately.

But Nintendo's coming out with that new Zelda game and that's all I'm going to need to satisfy me.

I'll watch the E3 coverage on G4-Tech TV, though I'm not looking forward to 4 months of reruns of said coverage. :|

Sweeet... i loved this thread last year... can't wait for e3 this year... I have some friends going, so i'll try to post stuff they send me... awesome, I can't wait for e3... as for the poll... yes I was the only one to vote for microsoft... while I agree that nintendo has the most potential, I think Microsofts entertainment and online package is going to blow everybody else out of the water... they're trying to make an entertainment console... that you can do everything off of...DVD's, music, online, chat, play video games, everything... plus i'm a loyal halo fan... I have to cheer for microsoft  ... the rumored Halo 2.5 coming with the new x-box also helped the vote....

I might have to buy IGN Insider membership again just to get live feed and videos faster

I really hope they will show Mario 128, and I really hope that it's still going to be on gamecube. The console deserves a Mario game that does justice to the series. Sunshine wasn't bad, but nothing impressive either.

They will. The current leak is Mario 128 is guarnteed for Gamecube and will be there this year. It's confirmed to be the long lost Shiggy made Mario platformer we've all been craving this entire generation. Revolution is going to have a different Mario game that will use it's special abilities, but Mario 128 is for Gamecube. We're also going to get to see the New Super Mario Bros is near final form rather than last year's mock up version. I'm so craving that game.

Hey, with Animal Crossing online, you won't NEED real friends... you'll be too busy replacing the trees I'll be chopping down ;).

Naturaly, I voted for Nintendo. Four words: The Legend of Zelda. That's honestly all they NEED to steal the show, but no... we're getting the full information on DS NoLine (which, IMHO, is going to pw0zor Xbox Live if only because it'll be free), and we'll finaly know wtf the big secret about the Revolution is. I'll bet they have some more stuff cooked up for us... and it's also another chance for Reggie to speak and lay the smack down. I could see him getting up on stage, and crushing a real PSP unit. Now that'd make me bust out laughing (and it's entirely possible...the dude can hold a DS from one side to the other in ONE hand >_> ).

Microsoft pushed the boundries of online, Nintendo pushed the bounderies of the interfact and game design, Sony..........raised prices and made a big black Game Boy Advance with a larger screen and discs that shoot out when you twist it. It's damn pretty, but you gotta admit. It's still a black adrinilane pumped GBA. Anyways....

THe cell processor will get some hype in the electronic world (PC's and junk) and rightfully so, but HDTV's can only display so many lines. It won't do so much for gaming. We have gaming machines with all the power in the world, yet they're still displaying their images on basically 55 year old technology. Yeah, TV's are flat now, and their resolutions are nuts, but it's still just improved 55 year old technology. I say we need a new visual interface. Then those cell processor graphics would have room to expand.

Kid Icarus
05-04-2005, 08:37 PM
You know, it really all comes down to the games. Xbox360 can be an amazing system, but if the only software they have to show for it is an updated Halo 2, I won't be impressed. Microsoft needs to get more games for their system and stop hiding behind Halo.

The Cell Processor is mighty fine... but even Sony's having tons of problems coding for it, and it's their technology. I can't imagine what the 3rd party studios are going through trying to get their code to run properly. It seems like a good idea, but when you have no regulation as to how many processors it can run at a time, and no idea where exactaly the code's going to be ran... it gets messy. Ai, correct me if I'm wrong... but I think that's how it'd work.

And I'll even badmouth Nintendo. The Revolution can NOT appear weak, even in the slightest. Everyone's looking for a reason to dismiss the system already. Obviously it's going to be something groundshattering if Nintendo's kept it underwraps 100% so far. We're now days away from E3, and not a single solid bit of info as to what makes it so revolutionary has leaked. I'll say this though... this is pry the best hype job Nintendo's ever worked. Everyone in the online gaming community seems to be trying to figure out what the **** it is.

And WHY is Nokia still trying to be a gaming company? They've now got 5 systems beating them... GBA, GBASP, WonderSwan Color, PSP and the DS. Hell, dosen't the Xbox sell more units in Japan then the Ngage sells world wide? Nokia, go away. Please.

愛
05-04-2005, 08:50 PM
Coding for the Cell processor will indeed get messy. This is a couple processors in one, and I believe they all use the 64-bit system. There's going to be some retraining going on in the programming underworld, that's for damn sure. But you know, if they do eventually become accustomed to this new system, they can do plenty of things with it, not just for gaming, but for other things, as well.

Kid Icarus
05-04-2005, 09:16 PM
From what I understand about the cell, is you can hook up tons of products with them to increase processing power. I can't even imagine coding for 2 processors right now, so I think I'd just curl up and die if someone wanted to hook 8 groups of them together. And unless they've found a way around bottlenecks, they can't get too much more preformance out of them...

I honestly think this could be a big mistake for Sony. Game development is already very expensive... but now programers have to relearn how to code for the PS3. Microsoft and Ninty are gonna make some good friends I have a feeling (hell, Revolution's using the same API as Gamecube, which'll make it easy to port engines over).

It'll be interesting to see if they have anything other then rendered graphics to show off. PS3's going to be a powerhouse, that's for sure... but at what cost?

ThirdMarioBro
05-04-2005, 09:34 PM
At the cost of developers. This will not kill Sony, but it will level the playfield. That's for sure. Bad idea to put this in a console with rising prices.

I'd love to have one of those bad asses in my PC though. Funny, a Microsoft OS on a Sony CPU

New Rumor floating around that Nintendo does indeed have 3-D projection technology, but it has nothing to do with Revolution directly. The rumor states that it is an add-on that will work for both Gamecube or Revolution, and will be releases BEFORE Revolution which would fall into line with a statement Yamauchi made a long time ago saying they had a Gamecube add-on for 2005. Remember last year they claimed they had a large scale Gameube add-on to show, but it never surfaced? Then there were claims that they did show it, but only to select press behind closed doors.

The Technology reportedly operates on Rotating Lazer technology and creates real time 3-D images for people who want a new visual interface. It is NOT part of the hardware which will indeed have 2 analog sticks, a D-Pad, and all of Gamecube's buttons but in a more traditional setup with pressure sensitive grips and gyroscopic tilt sensors. It will be more powerful than Xbox360, but not the PS3. Makes sense.

Mario 128 is reported to not be as Revolutionary as people think and is more meant to be an apology for Sunshine by making the most "Mariosque" Mario game they can make. We're talking Frog suits, Capes, Fire Flowers the works. All that good stuff we missed in Sunshine, and even Mario 64. In other words, FINALLY A TRUE MARIO GAME. There is another Mario title for Revolution that is in development as well but it will not be shown at all, but it will be announced. Waverace will be shown for Rev, and something from Namco and Capcom.

I'll be damned if that dosen't sound good. DS online will be completely revealed and will go online shortly after unveiling and Pokemon XD will be shown for Gamecube as well as the new Kirby platformer (full 3D) AND Pokemon online for DS. Mario Kart is rumored to come out in the Summer, and "Another" has been confirmed for a US release this fall. It will NOT be the censored European version. It will be NOA's translated version and the gameplay and events will not be altered (the Euro version was censored and had the violence toned down). Baaaaad move. Anyways, it sounds to be the best damn gaming year ever.

Also, Halo 2.5 sounded to me as a bad idea to be selling seperately a year later, BUT now they are planning to include it with the hard drive for FREE which I see as a very positive thing for fans. Now I think it's a good idea.

Very good year. I hope tis is all confirmed at E3.

Kid Icarus
05-04-2005, 10:26 PM
Halo 2.5 is great, as long as gamers don't have to buy it. Much like how I'd have been pissed if Nintendo released OoT:MQ as a seperate game. Bungie can't justify 2.5 as a seperate product when 2 keeps selling so damn well. Casual Gamer Joe picks up Halo 2, then 2.5 comes out a month later... angry customer who can stick to his outdated copy, or pick up a new and improved version for the same price he paied for 2. Not a good move, at all.

TMB: that would be the sane thing to do... that would keep Revs price point down, but allow tech nerds to have some uber crazy display option. Still, until we see stuff at E3, don't listen to a damned thing other then what's come out of Iwata's mouth. Backwards compatable, check. Just as powerful as the competition, check. 802.11b out of the box and free online play, check. E3's only 13ish days away now... less then 2 weeks. If anything's going to leak, and I mean seriously leak, we'll see it in the next couple days. Kudos to the developers that have kits and know what's going on for keeping their mouths shut. Maybe Nintendo's given up some hush money? lol

Nintendo a Niche Player?
Yes, according to Microsoft's Bill Gates. Full story.

May 6, 2005 - Microsoft's new Xbox 360 console is still several months off from its rumored November debut, but the next-generation of trash talking has already begun.

A new article published by Business Week Online suggests that Microsoft head Bill Gates is more worried about Sony's next-generation console than he is Nintendo's. In the article, Gates seems to dismiss Nintendo's forthcoming Revolution console.

"Now people are looking really at two companies," Gates says on the subject of the next-generation consoles.. "I'd say that everyone's watching what Sony will come out with for this next generation, and what will we come out with, and who can be the leader this time around. Both companies will be very big on it. Nintendo is more likely to be a niche player this time around."

In a follow-up article, Sony takes a stab at Microsoft's new Xbox 360 console, painting the picture that it could be a mere marginal update to the current console.

"We look at delivering a quantum leap in technology, not just Xbox version 1.5," Sony spokeswoman Molly Smith is quoted as saying.

Ouch.

------------------------------
Honestly, he only did this because he probably knows something about Revolution we don't. He could pay for any kind of info he wants about Revolution simply by waving some cash in front of some poor mistreated and underpaid EA programmer with a Rev Dev kit. That, and he's down the street from Nintendo's HQ and could easily have some sort of listening device, though unlikely. He knows by unveiling the Xbox360 on MTV, the news at E3 will be rather "been there, done that" stuff. He's making these quotes simply to downplay them in the public eye so that he can downplay their E3 showing foe some feature of Revolution we don't know. It's probobly Rthe online features. Nintendo's going to provide more than what Xbox Live has for FREE, and he can't swing that, so he trashes it and plays up their "cool" image. That, and when Yamauchi dies, he's going to make another buy out move so he wants to downplay them to the public to lower their stock price so he can attempt a hostile takeover eventually.

It's the sound of a scared company. Nintendo has something we don't know and he does. Now I really can't wait.

Reminds me of a polite version of an old Sega Rep in 1992....

GWGtrunks first reaction: WOW! Microsoft's finally making their own PC's!

After thinking about it for a while: The controler sucks, once again. The webcam looks too generic, as does the head set. The console's pretty... but it looks WAY too much like a PC tower. Then again, Microsoft's a computer company, so I guess that's okay. I don't like that little black thing ontop of it though. If you're going for all sleek, you don't smudge it with some ugly ass protrusion.

I sure as hell hope so.

That's the harddrive and I'm pretty sure you can take it off. Wasn't it confirmed that Xbox360 wouldn't have a HDD? Even so, seems kinda silly to make a hard drive detachable... isn't that what memory cards are for?

MTV sure is an evil bastard. At risk of making as ass of myself, I'm going to assume Microsoft lost a few friends in the press because of that move. I've said it on these boards before... the gaming press just isn't something you want against you (look what it did to Nintendo).

ThirdMarioBro
05-09-2005, 11:46 PM
yeah, and microsoft's fans aren't half as loyal (in general) and are more willing to believe the press (again, in general).

I can tell you that most people at AMN are pissed over the MTV thing because it killed some exclusives we had coming. IGN is supposedly pissed as well, and they teamed up with G4 for E3 coverage this year. Not a good thing to happen before you're even out of the gate.

I still believe that Microsoft is trying to slowly convert console gaming into "PC gaming in a box" so they can control the playfield easier. I also think it's going to be harder for third parties to port their games to various consoles because each one is looking to be so different. Frankly, Xbox360 is so far th emost generic. Basically, it's a current console on steroids. PS3 is a raw super computer that no one knows how to program for, and Rev is a big black box that no one knows what in the hell it is. I think each system is going to see more exclusives this time around because of their differences.

Peanut
05-10-2005, 08:12 AM
GWG, you already made an ass of yourself with this comment.

The controler sucks, once again.

Anyways, Xbox 360 is the only console I know I'm going to own 100%. Revolution is about 85%, but I'm sure it'll jump to 100 after E3.

What Gates said is true though. I have to agree with him. Nintendo will be a niche market. Just go into any game store and look at how the Gamecube section is shrinking. My local EB's have 2 walls devoted entirely to PS2 and Xbox each, and one small corner, about 3 feet wide, for not only Gamecube, but GBA and DS as well. Nintendo is just fighting a losing battle now. They're going to have to pull something HUGE out at E3 to change their position and I have a lot of doubts about that.

愛
05-10-2005, 08:15 AM
GameStop's GameCube section is surprisingly small here, too. Eventually Nintendo fans are going to have to like, buy their games on the black market or something. But I have faith! Revolution will stun me...I hope.

And the Xbox controller is fine. I don't know what you're talking about. The big version, maybe, but not the small version.

Peanut
05-10-2005, 08:24 AM
Yeah, I hope they pull it out too. I have a little faith left.

JameO

Revolution To Debut Mid-2006?

May 10, 2005

by: Larry McCormick

GCA FIRST: New, reliable information is available suggesting a debut period for the Revolution.
Monolithic Systems Technology Inc., perhaps better known to most simply as MoSys, announced its quarterly earnings at 5:15 PM yesterday in a conference call. MoSys is the company behind the fast 1T-SRAM technology employed by the GameCube and is apparently involved similarly in the development of Nintendo's upcoming Revolution console as well.

Among the earnings information and "shop talk" present in the conference call, a tasty little nugget of Revolution info is present:

"During the quarter we announced that NEC Electronics will now use our
1T-SRAM embedded memory technologies on their advanced 90nm process, and that the initial designs to be incorporated in SoCs will be used in
Nintendo's next-generation game console, code-named Revolution," said Mark Voll, Interim CEO and Chief Financial Officer of MoSys. "We are excited to be a participating member of the Nintendo team once again as Nintendo will roll out its successor game console to the GameCube in mid-2006."

Nintendo has yet to announce an official release date for Revolution, but has maintained that the console will launch roughly around the same time as Sony's PlayStation 3 console, which itself is currently headed for a launch in 2006, also without a specific, official release date. Whether or not the date affirms to the Japanese or North American market is uncertain at this point, but it's still a reliable estimate. MoSys' involvement also shoots down a popular rumor that purported the Revolution would use 512 MB of RAM, but no 1T-SRAM.

With E3 right around the corner (next week) and Nintendo's statements that Revolution will be discussed, GCA expects more information relating to the hardware in the system and the contributions of partner companies like NEC and ATI.

Look for GCA to have plenty of Revolution coverage in the coming days.

Thanks to AMN Reader, Barry O Halloran for pointing this out.

Pre-E3: New GBA; Revolution Video

May 10, 2005

by: Ray Almeda

BREAKING: Gamesindustry.Biz is reporting that Nintendo's apparent surprises during the media briefing include a new GBA & Revolution footage.
According to a report early this morning by GamesIndustry.Biz, Nintendo of America is rumored to be showing off a new GBA, an update to the existing hardware, at their press conference on May 17th.

According to the British publicaton:

"The new GBA, however, is categorically not the "GBA2", Nintendo's genuine next-generation handheld console. The system is expected to be an update to the existing GBA hardware, perhaps sporting built-in wireless networking and the Play-Yan adapter for playing downloadable games and videos, both of which have up until now been separate components."

In addition, several rumors are coming into the light as insider reports have already spilled some of the beans on Nintendo's Revolution plans at E3:

"...sources close to the company have revealed that no Revolution hardware or specs will be discussed, with the console appearing only as a video of next-gen footage."

Although the news is bound to disappoint many anticipating Nintendo's reason for the system-name moniker, the Big N may just want to take a back seat to the expected PS3 versus Xbox 360 battle at the show.

When asked by GameCube Advanced about the situation, one of our Nintendo contacts could not comment on "any rumors or speculation." Again, take this newly acquired information with a grain of salt, as Nintendo has yet to confirm any of this official.

With Nintendo's Pre-E3 Press Conference exactly a week from today, expect the plot to thicken leading up to the media briefing.

source: GamesIndustry.Biz
-----------------------------

This just sounds like a re-confirmation of the big rumors floating around the internet. "New GBA according to CNN", and "They won't show Revolution" blah blah. Honestly, if they don't show it then I'm loosing hope that the Nintendo console brand will survive the next generation. If they don't show it, they're dead. Simple as that. If they do, then we've been played, again. That'll make me happy, but if GameIndustryBis is right (which I doubt), then Nintendo's goose is cooked in consoles permenantly. I'm holding out that they want to supprise us and this is all a setup. You know how they like the play the E3 rumor system to their advantage.

Now, the new GBA with a slightly bigger screen, built in wireless, backlit LCD and built in Play Yan would be a great idea to keep the GBA line alive alongside the DS for another year or more. I'd definately buy it just for the screen upgrade just because I'm the kind of person who likes to play GBA ga,es on a GBA and DS games on a DS. I don't like the waste a system on games that wern't particularly meant for it. BUT, the whole thing could just be GameIndustryBis attempting to drag out that old CNN news from February that " Revolution woon't be shown and they'll have a new Game Boy"

Believe nothing. We find out in 7 days exactly now.

DS Online Service Made Official

May 10, 2005

by: Ray Almeda

BREAKING: Nintendo and GameSpy have joined up for some online fun. This is the real deal folks.
In an optimistic press release posted early this morning, Nintendo of America has officially announced that it is partnering with IGN Entertainment to create a Wi-Fi service for the Nintendo DS.
GameCube Advanced exclusively confirmed to the world the soon-to-be GameSpy/Nintendo online service partnership in a one-on-one interview with GameSpy President Jon Epstein in 2003.

This is also hot on the heels of the news first broke by DS Advanced that Nintendo's dual-screen handheld would be receiving the online treatment [at GDC]. The news was first confirmed on Nintendo's official magazine, Nintendo Power.

Set to debut later this year, the Nintendo DS will use IGN's GameSpy Technology to let people around the world link easily and wirelessly to play games - "just as if they were playing face to face" - according to the Tuesday press release.

The service and access to hotspots around the globe will be FREE-of-charge, [excluding possible publisher-dependant subscription fees].

"With minimum setup procedures, Nintendo DS owners will be able to enjoy Wi-Fi gaming just as easily as if they were playing with their friends in the same room," explains Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales & marketing. "To realize this simple and seamless transition to Wi-Fi gaming, we're partnering with one of the leaders in the multiplayer gaming world. Accessing the service will require no added Nintendo subscription charges, whether users hook up using a home broadband Wi-Fi connection or access a Wi-Fi hotspot at a coffee shop, library or elsewhere. It doesn't get any easier than that."

The service will be used by several upcoming games, including the already-announced Animal Crossing DS. Expect more details for DS' online software at E3 2005.

Finally, it was also revealed that:

DS owners can choose whether they would like to play with friends or strangers, whether nearby or on the other side of the world."

The new service is a first for portables for IGN's GameSpy Technology.

"We're excited to bring the technology that powers more than 300 PC and console video games to Nintendo's innovative wireless platform. Now developers can easily and confidently add advanced matchmaking, community and other multiplayer services to their Nintendo DS games," says Mark Stieglitz, general manager of IGN Entertainment's GameSpy Technology Group. "We're honored that Nintendo is choosing IGN's GameSpy as their middleware partner, and look forward to a very long relationship."

We'll have more on this breaking development, leading up to our exclusive and expanded coverage of the Nintendo DS at next week's E3 2005.

Official. HOT DAMN. Needed some good news today:D :D

The online network is everything I had hoped it would be. GLOBAL!

My problem with the Xbox controler is the fact that Gates claimed they spent tons of money and man hours in research to make the perfect controler.... then they had to go and fix it. Yes, the S controller is great, but the first one is horrible. the buttons are too close, the start button's too far away from the main clusters, and it's just too bulky.

On the new controler: the track ball looks like an afterthought. "Hey, woulden't it be cool if we did this!" type of thing, much like the D pad and Z button on the Gamecube controler. The buttons seem farther apart, spaced just about right. The rest of it just looks like a generic PC controller, IMHO.

DS online's going to be fun... I've heard bad things about IGN's service thingy though... so hopefuly Nintendo keeps a close eye on that.

As for hotspots... you can get an 802.11b router for about $30 now. For the price of one game, you can get online with the DS, and still use your wired computers (it was recently brought to my attention that the majority of wireless routers have 4 or so ethernet ports on them). I'm also hoping we'll get some kinda deal like Japan, where Nintendo gets some gaming store chains to carry wireless routers at no cost to the store.

No Rev at E3's a bad bad idea. I assumed that since Nintendo was going last, they were going to make damed sure the other 2 coulden't quick change their shows to combat what ever funky new things Rev's going to do, but if we just get to see some video footage, what's the point?

Nintendo Revolution will have four 2.5Ghz IBM G5 cores
12 | May

Rumors are stating that the console will boast four 2.5Ghz IBM G5 Custom cores, with 128KB of level 1 cache and a 512KB shared level 2 cache, while the graphics will be powered by a dual core ATI RN520 chipset, with 16MB of on-board eDRAM for the frame buffer.

MoSys previously provided the 1T-SRAM memory technology used by NEC for the GameCube's memory, and speaking in a live conference call following the announcement of the firm's Q1 earnings, CEO and CFO Mark Voll said that it would again be fulfilling this role for Revolution.

"During the quarter we announced that NEC Electronics will now use our 1T-SRAM embedded memory technologies on their advanced 90nm process, and that the initial designs to be incorporated in SoCs will be used in Nintendo's next-generation game console, codenamed Revolution," he said.

The most interesting part came next, however, when Voll commented that: "We are excited to be a participating member of the Nintendo team once again as Nintendo will roll out its successor game console to the GameCube in mid-2006."

If that proves true, then I will sh*t my pants in a few days. BUT this is just a ruomor as of now. Here's the hardcore stuff. NEW PATENT.

1. A video game playing method comprising: loading a pre-determined environment-mapped image having multiple planar projected images and associated multiple depth map images; at least in part in response to real-time interactive user input, compositing at least one additional object into said mapped images, said compositing using said depth map to selectively render at least portions of said object into said mapped image to provide a composited mapped image; and panoramically rendering said composited mapped image using a desired viewing angle and frustum to provide interactive video game play.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the environment-mapped image comprises a cube map.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein said mapped image is pre-rendered.

4. The method of claim 1 including performing said compositing step with a home video game system, and further including displaying rendering results on a home color television set.

5. The method of claim 1 further including receiving interactive real-time user inputs via at least one handheld controller, and defining animation of said object in response to said inputs.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein said rendering step comprises applying said post-composited mapped image to a mesh, and rendering said mesh using a current projection matrix to apply desired viewing angle and frustum parameters.

7. The method of claim 1 further including testing whether said object intersects any of multiple faces of said mapped image in at least two dimensions.

8. The method of claim 1 further including performing Z comparison and removing hidden surfaces in response to said Z comparison.

9. The method of claim 1 further including performing said rendering using a frame buffer.

10. A storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a home video game system or personal computer, provide interactive real-time video game play on a display, said storage medium storing: at least one pre-rendered cube map; at least one pre-rendered depth map corresponding to said cube map; and instructions which, when executed, composite at least portions of said pre-rendered cube map with at least one dynamically-generated object, said compositing based at least in part on said pre-rendered depth map, and generating pre-rendered panoramic image therefrom.

11. The storage medium of claim 10 wherein said pre-rendered cube map comprises six images as if looking through faces of a cube with the viewpoint at the center of the cube.

12. The storage medium of claim 10 wherein said compositing includes rendering a real-time object into a frame buffer storing said pre-rendered cube map using dynamically defined view port and/or frustum parameters.

13. A video game playing system comprising: means for loading a pre-determined environment-mapped image having multiple planar projected images and associated multiple depth map images; means for at least in part in response to real-time interactive user input, compositing at least one additional object into said mapped images, said compositing using said depth map to selectively render at least portions of said object into cube mapped image to provide a composited mapped image; and means for panoramically rendering said composited mapped image using a desired viewing angle and frustum to provide interactive video game play.

Read the rest of it on the real page. It's confusing as hell, but it sounds very similar to the Unreal 3 mapping technique. Techically it could make Revolution the most powerful console in terms of performance while still being cost effective. That sounds exactly like Nintendo thinks so I'm beliving this is going to be true and they're patenting junk before E3 which possibly leads me to believe that we'll see more of Revolution than we've been led to believe ths far. Anyway, Nintendo will NOT be a techinal slouch this generation by ANY means.

On the Microsoft front.....>Rare's still got it.

The thing has 4 synced up processors that when combined, have the ability to possibly kick the other console's ass while still being cost effective because those processors have gotten really cheap.

The rendering engine Nintendo has apprently devised should allow for something simlar to the results of the Unreal 3 Engine which basically means they should be able to match/beat anything on any console, PC included.

All in all, from a Techinal perspective, Revolution is looking to be a powerhouse. I haven't got a clue in hell what the other stuff means though.

After looking at the second part, it looks like there will be no loading times whatsoever in this generation. Gamecube kind of did that already, but this time it's being done with the newer graphics engines. There are certain "mappings" that require an extensive amount of time to load, but they're getting rid of that. It's become fairly common in more recent PC games, such as Half-Life 2 and World of Warcraft. I suppose they're just bringing that technology to the console.

Well, fu*k airplanes. I got here late, but I'm here....or there....or.. ACK!

I'm in LA and have no sleep

Anyway, I've been screweing around town, seing stuff and so on, and have formed some opinions about the city. For one, there are PSP billboards all over the place. Guess we knw what you know who's E3 focus will be. Meh.

This city is a rat's nest of streets. Honestly, I've never sen so many roads tangeld over each other. It's awesome. Everyone seems easy going...at least in the good parts of town. In Korea town.....*shudder* I saw whores all over the place, and there was this Mexican gang waltsing down the street. Pretty scarey place.......did I mention that's where the staff is staying? :dead:

Fortunately, getting muged isn't a problem. There's 30+ f us and we're all going everywere together, so as the ole saying goes..."You can't mug a mob". The good thing is, it's right down the street from E3. WALKING DISTANCE to the LA Convention center. I tested the route and you don't even have to cross the interstate. It takes you right to the Staple Center which is part of the grounds. I'll take pics tomarrow. There was a Lakers game going on there last night. When the lights are on at Night it's the most amazing site you can ever hope to see in you life. I'll take a pic tomarrow night. Purple skylights, purple dome roof, neon, glowing. Fu*king awesome.

I'm going to try to take pics from angles yo don't typically see. Everyone knows what the front looks like, but how about from the side? It's just as pretty. The front door ad space his year was taken by Atari. Big ass Atari logo right on the front door. Crazy. There are pics leaking out arond the web of the inside, but I'm not looking. I want to be surprised.

I saw a truck with Sony's people drive by with a ton of equipment. No,I didn't bomb it like you'd think. The good side of town is just so fu*king beautiful. The ocean to yor west and the Rockie mountains to your East keep everything at a calm 75 Degrees. It's ust crazy how cool it is here. It's now my favorite city period. It's just SO BIG. The otherside of the mountains is just esert, desert, and desert. Ick.

I've also never seen so many Asians, Mexicans and combinations thereof in my life. Very diverse place. I like that. Also, noody seems to give a damn about it either. Makes me want to live here someday. STAY OUT OF KOREA TOWN, but otherwise it's all kickass.

Honestly, the Convention center is Gigantic. It's WAAAAY bigger than even Warner Bors studios. I know, I checked.

Nintendo's truck just pulled with with some more sh*t. I'm writing this while sitting in the parking lot watching them put together final stuff while leaching off their wi-fi. Well, I better get back the the motel before dark. I love this place like crazy. Tomarrow is Sony's Press Conference. I'll be there unless they want to act like an ass (like last year's people said). Xbox 360 was Thursday (didn't se it), PS3 is tomarrow, and Revoltion is Tuesday, folled then by the big show. See you there.

Those RE4 screens are nice, but the levels look really dull now, and the detail in the character models dropped.

I've just been blown away today. Sony's press conference has me speechless. Those graphics are so unbelievable, and it looks like there are a lot of nice features that come with the system. The system doesn't look so bad, but that controller I can't shake. It looks....so bad! How do you handle that thing!? I want to know.

What impressed me the most today was the new Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children trailer. I can't believe they're making a movie like this. It's just so unbelievable.

Sony's conference has blown my mind. These graphics are amazing! I'm totally blown away. I can't believe this.

Edit: Well I'm done watching it. What an ugly console. The controller looks awful, and what's with the Spider-Man text on it?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/tmntrule/ps3_screen001.jpg

Unless this thing is signifcantly stronger than 360 and Revolution, I won't be getting it.

It looks a computer controller, the bommerang one.Why the heck did sony change it.

I thought the dual shock controller, was alright.

How the heck are you supposed to hold on to that thing.

The console looks like a DVD player, the graphics are fine.

But the controller, might make people think twice about buying the PS 3.

Yes they had actual game demos, for the PS 3 about 4-5 games were announced mostly sequels, to previous games.

The way I see it now, Nintendo HAS to show their hand.

Did Sony have any actual game demos running yet, or was it just graphics and specs?

Actually, I dont't think that controller is all that bad. It reminds me of the N64, which had the perfect controller IMO. You could hold it very well and you didn't get craamps after...uhm...hours of playing.

But they could have given everything a bit more space. It looks so, you know, full. As for the console design, it looks quite nice.

Kid Icarus
05-16-2005, 10:20 PM
The thing that made the N64 so good was that the controler was the first truely egronomic one for a console. Sony still hasn't quite figured out that a flat handle dosen't form to a hand too well.

And it looks like they still don't understand that handles are an important part of controller design.

I also don't understand why they're keeping the controll focus on their funky Dpad.

It doesnt even look cool all they did was keep the same stupid PS2 desgin made it round and painted it silver. It looks like the just bit off the other systems. Errrhrmmm Yes I hope it comes out on other platforms as well but if it doesnt I have to buy a PS3 plain and simple. Maybe a Zone Of The Enders 3 will come out too and then I wouldnt have bought a PS3 for just DMC

Psh after DMC 3 the game can only get better. They already messed up once and Sony knows if Capcom screws up again espcially with DMC 4*Which looks to be a released either as a launch title or soon after* There's going to be some huge problems. I have NO fears at all of this game being bad. I think it's going to possibly top the first one. I love the setting already. The snow was always very intresting and he looks so alone out there. I think this game might feature a more mature Dante who it searching for the true secerts behind his father. I think we will learn his mothers origins and possible get to see Sparda in action. I have a feeling it might take place after DMC 3 in the sense that it's still before #1 but it might not, it might just take place after #2 or before #2. #2 kinda messed the story up pretty bad so I dont think they can really do anything that takes place after #2

WOW... I just read up on the PS3's unveling on Gamespot. Just looking at the screenshots makes me wanna jump up and down. Can't wait to see the trailers at the computer lab tomorrow (stuck with 56k modem right now). I like the sleek, new look of the console, but the controllers look ugly. I wonder how big they really are? Heh... I'm so tempted to grab one and throw it like a boomerang, just to see if it'll come flying back.

I now anxiously await Nintendo's turn with the Revolution. If their unveiling is just as amazing as Sony and Microsoft, then the next few years are gonna be fun time to be a gamer. :D

EDIT: By the way, welcome to Los Angeles, TMB! I like this city for one of the reasons you stated earlier, its diversity. You can meet all kinds of people from all walks of life. If you're talking about hardware, the PS3 is double as much powerful as the XBox 360. It has seven 3.2 GHz processors!!!!! Seven!!!

I was afraid the Title, was real. Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. What is Nintendo thinking it sounds, odd.

They could have thought up a better name, for this game.Since most people want it.

It might lose sales, since people are to embrassed to buy it because of the name.

It might come back to haunt Nintendo, instead of helping them.

Actually my guess is Ganondorf, puts a curse on Zelda turn her into a Wolflos.

Ganon, would be the last boss otherwise people would cry foul about it.

Link always saves Zelda, all the time when Ganondorf, is involved in the storyline.

When is the release date, probably fall would be my guess.

7 that would be hard to progarm, for.

Kid Icarus
05-17-2005, 01:40 AM
Well, hold on. Twilight Princess isn't THAT bad.

TMB and I were talking about the title a whle ago...

Think about it for a second, following their past naming logic... Twilight is moon light. Princess... Zelda.

Maybe Link isn't the wolf, but Zelda is. Perhaps Link is on a quest in this game to save Zelda not from Ganon, but from herself? It'd sure as hell be a fresh story line for Zelda, as most 'second' console Zelda games are.

PS3 having 7 processors... Isn't that a little over kill? Thinking about coding for PS3 was hurting my head back when I thought it was only going to have 3 processors on board, then it made it want to explode when the info about Cells linking up came about... but SEVEN onboard processors? PS3's going to cost quite a bit me thinks...

If that is true, things are looking bad for Nintendo IMO. I know they continue to stress that this console race isn't only about hardware power but let's face it: It is. Nintendo can't just lay back and rely on some gimmicks, when their console is just a little more powerful than the original XBox. I really, REALLY hope this is not true.

Anyway, the PS3 looks okay, though the controller looks horrible IMO. I'd like to know what they were thinking when they came up with that one.

Can't really say much about the Revolution yet. It looks like a regular DVD player to me so far, but it's only one pic, so I won't comment 'till I get a clearer view of it. The information about the power worries me though, but whatever. I'll get it anyway.

Not really... I just watched most of it in live feed. Miyamoto played Nintendogs with someone from G4, apparently the dogs mated on stage. >_<.

Gameboy Micro. Tiny GBA, no improvments, waste of R&D money, and PSP chow, unless it has something more they're not telling us.

I missed the DS online stuff.

Revolution was a big wash over. No screens, no developers named, no real specs. The only news is that it can download past Nintendo games. No word if that's free or not, but it'd better damn well be. I *think* they did actually show off Metroid from the new hardware. The graphics looked better, but... eh, no idea.

And no supprises for Gamecube. None. Twilight Princess IS the new Zelda title. Link's a werewolf, the game's looking pretty damned creepy. NPC's took up a lot of the trailer time, so they'll play a big part in the game I'm sure.

Nintendo, I'm disapointed.

Well, to be honest, I have seen Nintendo going down for a while now. The N64 was cool, but it was too late. Every other console was released (at least in Switzerland) before the N64, before christmas even. Guess what a lot of people got for christmas? Well, no N64, that's for sure. Then came Zelda, a great game. There was no publicity, no RTLII-news broadcast (A corrupt TV station, if you buy them a coffee they'll send whatever you want), no nothing. And, of course, gamewise the N64 was great. You had Mario64, eXtreme G, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Aero Gauge and many more. Those were good games, but noone noticed them because you heard from other, seemingly better games all over the place. Then came NextGen 1.0: PS2 and XboX were both big... oh yeah, Nintendo threw a brick on the market, an ugly, purple brick with a handle (and yes, looks of a console matter to some extent). Why didn't they make it fluorescent pink with blinking lights on it? And again, no publicity. I mean, PS2/EA Games is sponsoring half of MTV's programme here. And the games were rather mediocre too. Plus: I've never even realised that GameCubes were actually sold here until they went on Special offer a few weeks back. Hell no, I wouldn't even take that console if you gave me money to take it.

And now this, the E3, normally Nintendo's big event. Face it, they practically owned the event. This is where it happened, new games, new graphics a lot of AAAHs and OOOHs. But competition is getting stronger, they have good graphics and rather good games too (but no game ever managed to touch the early Super Mario games, except for eXtreme G maybe).

Don't get me wrong here, Nintendo is making great games, they're innovative, they just "feel" right somehow. I mean, I felt somehow... well, really at home playing Mario64. It was such a lovely game with lots of funny ideas and stuff. Gamewise Nintendo will most likely hold their position as a great manufacturer, but consolewise...

I just saw Nintendo's press conference, and that cheered me up a little because it was so funny. I must admit I had quite a few laughs at Iwata's expense. No offense to the guy, but his English is terrible.

...But then I came here and I became depressed again. The worst part is that I actually kind of agree. Comedy aside, Nintendo's showing was extremely uninpressive.

I really wanted to get some info about the Revolution and Mario 128, and as I said before, I was extremely dissappointed with Zelda, to the point where I don't even care for the game anymore.

That's right, I'm a die-hard Zelda fan who has practically given up on Zelda, yet I still have some hope for Nintendo. So if I can manage that, some of you guys can manage to stop the 'Nintendo is dying' crap. We're all dissappointed, but Nintendo is here to stay, even if they could be doing better. I do not like the 'Link is a wolf' thing at all, nor the stupid midget. And let's not even mention those Predator/Heartless-like things.

I'm having trouble wording it and I'm sure it will come out sounding stupid and shallow, but what I've seen so far completely craps all over what I consider the essense of Zelda. This isn't Zelda, this is some kind of Final Fantasy wannabe.

Whatever, I can't explain it. I just think it's lame, let's leave it at that. I'll get the game anyway.

Btw, has any Revolution footage been shown yet? I'd like to see what this thing is capable of.

I agree with you, Mecha Cow. It doesn't feel like Zelda. At least not for the most part. I know exactly where you're coming from, don't feel like you're in the boat alone.

As for the Revolution, no one has seen anything. I hope to God that all changes on the show floor. Nintendo can't sit back this long, they can't afford it.

Well, I'm pissed. I was told by a rep that Mario 128 was to be shown "definately" unless they changed their mind at the last second. Well, they changed their mind. I give up on it. Forget the game. If it comes out, then whoopiee, otherwise, I'm not dwelling on it. Also, what the ell does everyone have on Zelda now? Geeaz, it's like now everyone detests the game. THAT, i just don't understand at all. It's the best game of all time and that trailer literally had me in tears I was so happy. The conference itself wasn't as good as last year's (though just as funny), but I don't care. I was there. I also have a TON of things that happened around it. Let me tell you te story....

We arrived around 7:00 in the morning. I was the first in line of any press. Some Japanese dudes came in after me with a PSP. I wanted to kill them. Anyways, around 8:00 we were allowed to start checking in. I went in with the camera crews first because I had $2000 of equipment in my bag. George Harrison escorted me and the other guys to the conference hall. It was daunting because no one was there and for a afew moments I had the whole thing to myself. I walked around, walked around the stage and saw a teleprompter with Revolution's pic on it. I had saw it the night before, but I thought it was, and still think it is DAMN sexy. PS3, though interesting to me this time around (didn't think I'd say that huh) looks like a scanner/referidgerator. Pug fugly. Same for Xbox 360. Whatever.

I walked over to the camera area trying to figure out where I was supposed to stand when a big towering figure came up on me. Literally, his shadow completely dwarfed me. Of course it was Reggie. I thought he was going to break my body into a trillion pieces me for walking up on the stage. Instead, he very kindly pointed out a GREAT place where I could stand on the front/side and get a perfect camera angle. BETTER than G4's. They were pissed. I love Reggie. Took my picture with him :D :D

As I set up my equipment, the G4 guys scrunched in around me as best they could. By now the people were pouring in. What you don't know is they overcrowed the theatre and the fire marshal wanted to clear half the building. Using my projected microphone, I discovered Nintendo paid him a $1000 bucks to shut the fu*k up. Then they announced that the conference was running behind schuedle because "The Fire Marshal had issues with the population limit". Direct quote. Everyone booed the bastard. Got it on tape.

Now comes the best part. As the G4 guys kept trying to set up their equipment, they seemed to be having a hard time of it. Techinal problems and all. The lights had started to go down which meant the conference started in about 2 minutes. My stuff was ready to go and I had been filming the whole damn thing and taking part in a 50 person Pictochat session making sexual humor on my touch screen. Then as the poor G4 camera man started having more toruble, this detested women came over bitching like hell. I knew the voice, but I couldn't believe it. THe lights were dim so I couldn't see her for a sec, so I just flipe the camera's light twords her to see for sure. She yelled at the camera man "WHERE THE FU*K IS THE GODDAMN CAMERA?!? IF YOU DON'T GET THAT MOTHER FU*KING CAMERA RUNNING WE ARE GOING TO GET IN SOME DEEP SH*T. GET THE GODDAMN THING RUNNING OR YOUR ASS IS MINE!" So said Morgan Webb. I look at her point blank with this dead scowl with a "You bitch" look on my face because I alread hated her anway, then she gave me the excuse I was looking for. She looks at me like some hate filed witch and says, "What the fu*k is your problem n00b?" So I think what the hell. I've wanted to do this since I first discovered Xplay. It's fun time. I yell, "I have a problem with you, your fu*king show, your goddamn network, your pandering of anything the media likes, and the way yo pretend you're a fu*king gamer because you obviously don't want to be here, so if you don't mind, this is my first E3 and I have a fu*king job to do, ad that job is to outperform you to my audience as best as I can, buh bye bitch". She just looks at me with this dead stare and says "Fu*k you asshole" and flips me one while Adam Sessler cwers behind her like a whipped dog scratching his ass. You can tell he thought it was halarious though.

That made my whole fu*king day. The press Conference started next and I was giddy from that point on. But it wasn't over! You know the conference so I'll skip that. As I left, we all picked up our press kits (including the Zelda DS cards from Amouna, FU*KING SWEET!!!) and I was walking with the other 5000 people down the stairs of the Kodack theatre when I saw you know who walk up behind me, I started to turn around when she just took her elbow and WHAMMED the Fu*k out of me in the ribs HARD. Still hurts. That woman can hurt you. Normally I wouldn't have done it in public, but no one was paying attention in that solid pack of people and Gawd I couldn't resist, so I slammed her back ideep in her gut with my boney elbow and knocked the wind out of her. Oh sh*t was she pissed then. She left because she looked like she wanted to pull a gun or something. Adam was by then laughing his head off. She gave him one of those "You're dead" looks. Guess we know who the Alpha dog is in that pack is. I pity him. You know what the funniest part was.....I had the fricking camera on the whole time. I really should pw0nz her ass.

Saving the rest for later as this post is too damn big. Seriously, best Fu*king day EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which video feed were you guys watching of the conference because I know there were two live cameras set up in there, and one of them cut to another camera while Shiggy and Tina Woods were playing Nintendogs because Tina's dog got hummped by Shiggy's. It was a totally unscripted event and was funny as hell. They thought it was funny, Reggie was snickering, and everyone was just chuckeling.

Oh yeah, gettin some hardcore Nintendo action Doggie style live 8)

No company is going anywhere, and Sony and Microsoft don't suck. Now drop this crap, no one cares.

So far E3 hasn't been going as bad as I thought, now that I give it a second thought. There are a lot of games coming out that I would be willing to play, and the next generation consoles look fairly promising. Can't say much for Revolution, but that's because so little was revealed. I am liking the downloadable content, though. It did make my day when they released the new Advent Children trailer.

The Xbox so far is lookin' the worst on terms of Hardware and its Marketing, All of it's Launch titles look...Subpar. PS3 has shown some Impressive stuff Especially the Killzone Tech thing and even that little FF cloud thingie.

Xbox is Making Mistakes by Showing all their cards so early, and really its the least appealing IMO.

And now onto Nintendo The Revolution's Design was Simple...Simple to the point of being kinda boring. The Idea of Downloading the Back Catalog of the Nintendo is Interesting but thats something you can do with a Mod-chip on the Xbox. All i can hope for is Varied Titles on the Rev. because thats why the PS2 won this Generation, Because of its Various types of games and the quality of which.

So Far nothing is solid but the Xbox seems to be Staggering out of the Gate

Nintendogs is a game coming out for the DS. I suggest looking it up online for more info. IGN or Gamespot or something.

Morgan Webb has a nice rack, but that's about it. She's the kind who waves around a Nintendo DS and pretends to know about games, when she's really there just because she's a girl.

Adam Sessler is a fu*king idiot. This morning proved it. Morgan Webb is a nice rack with a temper the size of this damn state. Glad I FINALLY got to have it out with her. Done, moving on.

Today sure as hell ended well. After Ninty's conference I was on could nine all day. Talked to Iwata outside as he was leaving. Such a nice guy. George Harrison is as boring in person as he is in speeches but he's still a nice guy.

On a side note, I saw the Revolution on a teleprompter before the conference even began. I was like "WTF is that"? Then I read the Logo. HOLY SH*T! Basically, I was one of the first 5 people in the conference room, and the first to look at the prompter which makes me the first to see it. Heh heh.

We screwed arond Hollywood all day and got lost in the subways and almost mugged. Not fun. Then we got back to the motel and found that Adam and Morgan had moved in upstairs from us due to a schuedeling conflict with ther motel. Fu*king teriffic. Start a fight, then get to deal with it more.....wait, she started it.....bah, whatever. THey're long gone now anyways.

The day sure as hell ended on a good note. We went to te Efocus event which is like a side show to E3 in the California Market Center. They give you free junk and ass loads of AMAZING food. We're talking buffets of gormet sh*t just to bribe you into coming to their booth the next morning and free Memory Stick Du's and Flash Cards. 528 and 1 Gig sh*t too. Damn impressive. Did I mention the FREE open bar and the hot girls displayng DDR stuff?

Well, then we were planning on going to Midways party the had Invited us to, but the invite list got screwed up and they refused to let us in. Didn't care anymore anyway. It turned out to just be 3 hours of celebrity pandring. When Matthew Perry walked in, I quit trying to get in and we left on principal. Fu*k that crap. Just a stupid Midays photo opp with NO FREE BOOZE. Back to Efocus we went and got hammered. Why? Because no parents, no supervision, and just because we felt like it. Honestly, I didn't drink hardly anything in the end, but it was enough to mess me up a little so I quit.

That dosen't mean we were through screwing around.......literally. In a half drunk state everyone decided we should go to this high calss strip club at the corner of town and got lap dances galore til about an hour ago. Now E3 is tomarrow.

Honestly: Games, girls, free food, free drinks, free junk, bitch slapping Morgan Webb, strippers, lap dances, and a fricking new Super Maro Bros (with Fireballs).

I didn't think they ahd the gaul to attempt another Mario party, but they did. I'm now officially mocking them to their face. It's gone to a Maddan level.

I want these:

Gamecube: Twiight Princess
DDR Mario
Super mario Strikers (believe me, if you'd seen Mario kick Boswer in the balls to steal the ball and do everything short of grab his own in the pre game dance, you'd wnat it too I kid you not. :D )
Sonic Gms Collection (SONIC CD, SONIC CD, SONIC CD!!!)
Shadow the Hedgehog (played it. They fixed he engine. It' sjust like Sonic adventure with a badass story. Sold. The gun is useless and you don't have to use it. I'm completely happy with it)
Fire Emblem (violence level is deep here)

and someo ther sh*t I cant remember

Nintendo DS: Everything on the floor......okay okay

Super Mario Bros (HELL YEAH)
Mario Kart DS (played it. It is th Mario Kart 64 engine, only better. mario Circut 1, and Moo Moo Farm on the same cup. It just may have all tracks from Mario Kart, and Mario Kart 64 included according to Ninty along with the standard 20 new and 4 new battle mode ones)
Trace Memory - aka Another. Damn fine mature adveture
Metros - Best puzzle since Polarium/Panel de Pon
Sonic Dash (honstly, this sucker is so badass its not funny. It make me feel better about Sega's future. 2 D Sonic on two screens. Levels are sprite based, SOnic is polygonal. VERY VERY FAST)

More to come. I'm tired from Star Wars and cant type any more.....that and someone stole my DS at E3 so I'm just pissed.

Giest sucks btw. Off my list

Mecha Cow

Might as well jump on the bandwagon...

GameCube:
-LoZ: Twilight Princess (Despite my serious doubts, I can't pass this up. The direct-feed videos made me feel better anyway.)
-Kirby (Maybe)
-Super Mario Strikers (Maybe)
-Pokemon XD (Maybe)
-Fire Emblem (Maybe)

Yeah...I hope they show some more 'must-buy' titles soon.

DS:
-Super Mario Bros. (Finally)
-Mario Kart DS
-Mario & Luigi 2
-Castlevania
-Another (Maybe)
-Lost in Blue (Maybe)

And a ton of other stuff I forgot. PS3 and XBox 360 look cool but I don't see myself buying them anytime soon, so I didn't make lists for those.

The horse back fighting, is good.

Mega Man Zero 4

Quotes from Miyamoto.

Will you make Kid Icarus for Revolution?

Well, I'm actually working really closely right now with the director of the [original] game. Now, whether or not when we get the Revolution all set up and everything is finalized, well who knows? That might be one of those characters where everybody says, "Hey, with the way our console is designed, that would be a perfect match." My question to you is, if we made this game would you buy it?

IGNcube: Absolutely.

Well, we obviously can't ignore that. Okay, we'll get the Eggplant Wizard coming back.

Kind of a joke question, but it still makes me happy to hear. :)

Now the bad one...

[quote=Sir Shiggy]I'm just really sorry. I think I've given people the wrong impression with Mario 128. With all the questions I'm getting about this, I really feel like I've done people a disservice. In regards to Mario 128, we're currently doing a lot of Mario experiments back in Kyoto. We are definitely going to have a new Mario for Revolution. Whether or not that's 128 or not, I can't really say. It might be a new Sunshine. We're not sure. We're doing a lot of Mario tests right now for the Revolution.

Okay, I officially declare the game dead. Buh Bye Mario 128. Now I'm pissed as all hell. No new 3D Mario game.

Well, we're getting something for Revolution. I guess that's good......even if we might have to wait ANOTHER FU*KING YEAR. *sigh* Oh well, I'll forgive him. He's giving us a new 2 player, 2-D Mario so I'm happy. That, and something absoultely incredible happened today.

I was sitting at Nintendo's booth playing Charles Martinet at Mario Kart DS. I won. I talked to him a little, then I wandered off to Nintendogs. I looked at it for a little while and started to really enjoy it when a man in a hat, dark sunglasses, and black Mario 20th Anniversay shirt came out wearing a staff badge. I looked around and no one else seemed to notice. I sure as hell did, and I sure as hell know the only person I've ever seen wear that shirt (last year at that booth). I wandered over to where he was. He had sat down at the Mario Kart DS online display where people were playing Nintendo reps in Seattle live. The dude started playing and was kinda sucking at it, but it was because he wasn't watch the game. He was watching us play the game for our reactions and just holding the DS as a rouse. At that point I had no doubt in my mind who it was. (See above statements) The person next to him got up so I scooted down a seat right by him and kept playing. I salcked off ust so I could get my Kart by his (track was Moo Moo farm). Judging my the mile wide smile on my face I could tell he knew that I knew who he was, so after the race was done (I let him win) Shiggy took off the garb and I had a chance to talk to him for a little bit (45 seconds before someone noticed). He jokeingly said that any second now the flog of people should start flooding in. He kind of fond it funny, as did I. A few moments later, here came the G4 guys flooding in like rabid wolves. They tried to shove me out of the way, but I held my ground and Shiggy actually stood up for me and said they needed to be more respectable or he wouldn't do the interview. i was absoultely FLOORED. So, if you see him on G4 and he's wearing the Mario Bros's 20th aniversary shirt in front of the Nintendogs booth and looks a little pissed, there ya go. It's because G4 is a bunch of rude bastards and they've been pwned THREE times this week, all of which I seemed to be ivolved in one way or another (Shiggy, me aking their camera spot at the Press Conference, and the Morgan thing). They must really hate me by now

Now my respect for Shiggy just quintupled to the 10th degree. He even signed my Press Kit. Absoultely amazing. So to me, best E3 ever.

Not a damn thing. Pisses me off. I wanted to play that sucker. Oh well, I'm done with all my articles for the site, so I can just scrw around tomarrow and send you guys pictures til doomsday when I get the camera stick hooked up.

I took pics of the booths so you all could see what it looks like. Game sites (including AMN) seem to think fans don't give a sh*t about E3 and just want the same damn game trailer B-Rolls on every site. I'm gonna let you all see the inside of the show AND the inside of the Zelda booth that we were forbad to film. Sweet Jesus, that was the greatest both in E3 history. They had a lifesize Stalfos stabbing people, and DAMN good looking link, the Wolf jumping off the roof (anamatronic) scaring people sh*tless and the best light pojection effects I've ever seen. They projeted a stream on the ground with fish and rubees in it and when you walked on it, the projetors would make ripples on the place wher you stepped. It was amazing.

I'll work on getting those up here. Since tomarro is the last day I'm gonna take it easy. I played all the games I wanted and saw the Zelda booth (and Sega, Namco, Microsoft, ect blah), and I've basically seen all I want to see. The Ketina hall in the basement is ghetto. I'll just hand out in the west hall tomarrow and stalk Iwata and Reggie and complete my signiture collection.

Whoa dude. AWESOME story.

TMB: I officially hate you now. Heheh. That's awesome! Shiggy sounds like a really cool guy.

"Too Human" has been confirmed for XBox 360! http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3140745
GWG, now you have to get the "crappy generic PC tower"! :D If the game ever comes out. Silicon Knights have some of the longest development cycles in the industry... infact, I think they're only surpassed by Rare and Nintendo in that regard.

And no, I won't buy a console for a single game. As of now, this is the only next gen game I'm excited about, but when you think about it... the game was announced before the Gamecube even came out, so I don't really count it as next gen material.

Oh, I do have one question regarding E3.

Was there a Namco-booth and if there was one, did they mention something about a game on Snake Plissken called "John Carpenter's SNAKE PLISSKEN'S Escape"? (http://escapegame.com/)

Namco has a booth there, yes. Complete with the booth workers wearing Pac Man hats.

No idea if they mentioned that game though... TMB?

E³ is over! It was really boring, no real surprises, no major announcements.
So what was everyone's E³ highlight? Mine was probably the MGS4 video and the fact that Kojima is (despite earlier statements) directing it. I'm also extremely excited about Mistwalker's "Lost Oddyssey" which seems to be the the kind of RPG I'd definitely pick up.

for me, it was the fact that they announce a Battle Angel Alita game. That's all I care about. :P

For me it was all the Zelda stuff. Regardless of my opinion, it was definately the highlight for me.

...I was hoping it would be the Revolution, but nooo...

All in all, pretty tame E³. I was expecting it would be really exciting, what with all three next-gen consoles being revealed. Ah well, it could have been worse. Wasn't Mario Kart the 'biggest' thing at E³ 2003?

Nintendo DS:
Mario & Luigi 2
New Super Mario Bros.

Game Cube:
-Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (the trailer wasn't that good but the direct feed videos from IGN are exactly what I'm hoping for)
-Prince of Persia 3

PS2/PS3:
-Killzone
-Radiata Stories
-FFXII
-Metal Gear Solid 4
-Shadow of the Colossus

XBox/XBox 360:
-Conker: Live and Reloaded
-Kameo: Elements of Power
-Lost Oddyssey
-Blue Dragon
I totally forgot "Okami"! Unbiased gamers should check out both "Okami" and "Shadow of the Colossus" at IGN (Shadow (http://ps2.ign.com/objects/490/490849.html), Okami (http://ps2.ign.com/objects/678/678618.html)). Those games seem to have it all: Awesome style, excellent graphics and most important of all, fresh gameplay. PS2 players are going to get some fine stuff before the console dies.

Holy sh*t. Both of those games look seriously awesome. I hope I can find a used PS2 for cheap someday so I can get a chance to play them.

Mario Baseball is one fu*king awesome game. It's like Mario Kart in the way it uses the Mario elements to make an awesome game. I love it.

That thing is damn sleek. Put the black plating on it and you've got something as sleek looking as the PSP. Damn sexy too...especially when a woman is holding it. It and the DS go together well.

Shadow's holding me hostage. He'll shoot unless Hannah comes and gives him a big wet kiss with lots of tounge. If you liked Sonic Adventure 2, then you're going to LOVE this sucker as I did.

That's the anamotronic wolf inside the Zelda castle booth backstage that had a 3 hour wait. That wolf would jump out and try to maul people. It's was very very cool. There was also a Stalfos that would stab peple from it's prison cell. If I could upload the video somewhee you could see just how awesome it really is. It was rated the best booth in E3 history. Universal helped NInty built it. The whole cost of their entire display that year was about $4,000,000. Finally...

Okay, here's the heads up. Sorry that I haven't been around much. My flight was screwed up a couple of days before I was supposed to leave for E3 and my family had to help me get out there by car. Fortunately I had just gotten a learners permit and was able to help witht e driving, but my skills aren't much, so I scared them sh*tless in the Rocky mountians. :D On the way back they decided to go driving around to god only knows how many damn tourist traps between here and Oklahoma. Ugh, anyway I know I haven't been around much but it's not my fault and I apoligize. The Redwood National Forest isn't known for it's hospots  I have no idea when I'll get back home.

Anyway, here's some impressions I wrote on some games at E3.

Game Boy Micro

I'm also writing an editorial to tell my story of how everything went from the second I got there to the time it was over. It'll be done in two parts. Here's a look at the first part.

In the meantime, I'll desticky this since E3 is oficially over and keep adding pictures as time rolls on. Tell me what you think. :)

From what I could tell he was just playing it to scope out the competition. Sony's not going to let him try out their new stuff because he's the enemy, but at E3 they can't stop him. Of course it also works the other way as well.

Ah, the smell of console espeisonge :D

He also dosen't appear to be enjoying himself much, but can you blame him after his Nintendog humped that chicks from G4? I mean, damn, that alone made me want the game. "wow, look at 'em go!".
