So, what do you think they'll do for the next release?

I don't think it will be the entire season 3. I think that was the main reason of naming season 2 volume 2 so that the next release will be Volume 3 and have about 10-13 episodes from the season (again with no extras) but at the same low price of the other 2. I think they'll continue this "volumes", specially since some of the later seasons don't have many episodes so maybe one volume will actually have 2 seasons.

Hopefully they start doing more then one a year as well. One every April isnt enough

Who knows, but what i hope for is to atleast have the entire season 3 by next april. However they want to release them.

Well, it's obviously not going to be the entire 3rd season. It was noted that this was not the case which is why the season 2 DVD was renamed "volume 2." Anyway, who knows how long it's gonna take for another DVD. This time there should be special features though. Having the episodes is cool but how about some interviews and stuff?

I hope we get some extras, I mean TMNT was uge in the 80's so they should have some special features or commercials or even news on the phenomenon. I hope we at least get some descent artwork and care put into these.

I would like to see some recording bloopers with the voice actors. I bet that would be so funny if they put some of those up (if they have any).

Would love to hear some recording bloopers as well. And VA commentary! Loves me some VA commentary! And with that cast, I bet it would be pretty damn funny.

This last one was Volume 2...and just happened to be all of season 2...volume 3 will probably be about half of season 3....:P

If the whole season was released then it would probably be on two discs or the DVD might have two sides. Half of the episodes could be on one side then you flip it over. Season 3 was a great one and I hope they realease the whole season on like two discs for the price of one.

I notice that Season 3 has the most episodes. Much larger than Seasons 1 or 2. I mean just look at it 47 episodes!

I predict the next DVD would either be a Box Set with 4 Discs.
Or seprate ones Titled TMNT(original) Season 3 Volume 1-4.

i read a interview with James Avery ( the V.A of Shredder) and he said that the recording sessions where nuts. He said quite a bit of fooling around took place. He also said that Rob Paulson ( V.A of Raphael) was insane :). They were even several times when the cast members would ablib and say something else instead of what was supposed to be said in the script, and they would just keep it because it sounded more funny :P. He said that Rob Paulson and the guy that did the voice of Krang did that a quite a few times.

I think it would be awsome if they put something like this on one of the dvds, to show the times where the voice actors where fooling around and stuff :D

They really should consider something like that, and I would just die laughing if they brought back those old commercials for the toyline.

Wasn't there talk over a special edition track where Barry Gordon would re-dub the voices of Donatello and Bebop in the episodes where Greg Berg substituted for him?

Sage Ninja

I think so, but is this legal doesn't Greg Berg have rights to his own work?

Well if they do continue doing 10-13 episodes per disc per year, it'll take like 17 years to release all the dvds, so I highly doubt they're going to do that... Season 3 will probably be Volume 3 and contain maybe 28 episodes or something like that.

Season 4's pretty big, too. I think it's the second biggest season. I wonder if the Europe episodes would be released in that season? Hopefully they just forget about those..

The European episodes are some of the best written episodes in the series, much better then the garbage we got in Season 4, 5, and 6. And besides, why would you NOT want the complete series on DVD? Why in the world would you want them to leave out episodes? If it's because you think they suck, then they should skip all of Season 4 since the majority of the season was kiddie crap.

Besides, the European episodes are a part of Season 7, and it has the second theme song. They're not putting those on so soon. Why you'd be content with buying the horrible episodes of Season 4 and 5 and say that the Europe episodes shouldn't be put on DVD is beyond me.

Out of Seasons 4-6, the European episodes are excellent selections, alongside the "Technodrome Displaced" episodes in which Wise changed it's location to keep a sense of continunity in those crap seasons

Agh, sorry I didn't mean to offend anyone. I just thought they might be in season 4 because chronologically, that is where they take place, right after "Plan Six From Outer Space".
Anyway , I was half kidding with that statement. I don't really want them to leave eps out, I never really liked these eps though. Some of them are my least favorite episodes of the series. "elementary my dear turtle" and "northern lights out" come to mind. Though I did like some of them too.
And yeah, I agree many of the season 4 episodes are not very good. This is when it started on Saturday mornings, too, and they changed Mike's weapon and toned the entire show down.

They should definitely just have the European vacation eps in the season 4 eps. It would just make much more sense that way, know what I mean? Someone e-mail lion gates about a possible season 3 DVD, I wanna know!

I really don't think we will know for some time, they will probably make the decision based on how many Season 2 dvd's are sold. If Season 2 doesn't sell as well as they want, they will not make Season 3. If it sells well, or better then they thought, a Season 3 should be in the works, not only that, but maybe they will spend more time, and include extras.

I'm getting a little tired of all the little digs that are being made at certain seasons :x . I reconise that the tone of the series changed a bit after season four, but they were other things in those seasons that made up for them.

And the European episodes should definatly go with season seven even though it was orginally suposed to be shown in season four. That was a good arc. i wonder if they got the idea for them from the Archie comics?

MrPliggins

Well one thing that stayed pretty consistent throughout the series was the humor. Sure they toned the fighting down in later seasons but at least it was still funny (until season 8 when they changed it to red sky). The animation quality seemed to fluctuate too.
As for the European episodes, I'd rather have chronological than airing order. These actually were shown during the fourth season in other countries (correct me if i'm wrong).

Regardless of the fact that the episode guide is wrong and all of them say copyright 1992? hmm
Also, according to Library of Congress, they were first aired in the US, in November of 1992 on the USA Network; now if you can please explain to me how that's in the 1993 season? I'd like to hear it, honestly I would. ;)

why did the euroupean episodes get cut out until season seven instead of being showed in season four? :-?

MrPliggins
05-15-2005, 03:03 PM
I think they were made exclusively for overseas. When USA network acquired the rights to the Turtles show in 1992 or 93, they also acquired the rights to the Europe episodes and decided to show them as brand new episodes. Though they did edit 2-3 minutes out of each episode. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I dont think they ever showed these episodes uncut in the United States.

That's correct, unless you somehow got YTV. If anyone has an Amex credit card, you can buy the official vcds (yes there is such thing as official VCDS, they sell them mainly in Europe and Asia) of the euro vacation eps for $7.99 each (each vcd contains 2 eps and they're HQ, not DVD but still very good) at this site I found.

Aside from "Technodrome Displaced" and the Turtolids storylines...nothing much else really, and I'm a HUGE Fan of the original series.

It's perfectly fine to say a season or two sucked, so long as it redeems itself later, TMNT did that, other shows (Roseanne, The Simpsons) are not so fortunate sometimes.

Do you think that when they come out on dvd that the episodes will be unedited. I sure hope so. And what exactly was edited out? Was it stuff the would be unipriate to American audiance ( totally hypicritical considering that the have a show with a singing talking piece of sh** featured in one of there shows) or was extra footage edited to fit in more commercial time?

MrPliggins
05-15-2005, 11:32 PM
I'm pretty sure they'll be unedited on the dvds. I don't know what was edited out, but the only reason they edited the episodes was because they edited all the tmnt episodes (and all their cartoon shows) in order to show more commercials or animated skits...I remember there was one skit which featured monsters and was shown on every commercial break. Most channels that show syndicated reruns in the US edit the shows for time, sadly.

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that they called it volumes 1 and two because they didn's want people to feel ripped off, having season one being five or six and season 2 being 13 episodes, and then having season 3 be forty something. I don't think releaseing it in separate parts was what they meant at all by calling them by volumes.
