I grew up watching the turtles and reading the Archie comic book series. And I was thinking it would have been so cool if the tv show had incoporated some of the stories, mutants and characters from the comic books.

Such as
Man Ray/Ray Fillet
Stump & Sling & Cudley the Cowlick
Null
Jagwar & Dreadmon
Ninjara
The Warrior Dragon

Also i just saw the episode with Mona Lisa man is she cool. Too bad she didn't come back.

I'm with ya there, I would have loved if Katmandu showed up, or better yet the future TMNT. although having Mona Lisa, Lotus, Candy Fine, April and Ninjara all in an ep woul;d have been cool

A couple of people I chat with have told me that they feel that the old show should've been more like the Archie comics.

Oh yeah Katmandu i forgot about him, he was friends with with the bird mutant Al'Faqua.

Also i know who veryone is but who is Lotus?

Jephael
11-25-2002, 03:38 PM
Actually, the TMNT met Katmandu right before the TMNT met Al'Faqua, but the two never met. They just happened to show up in a storyline together, so there had to be a hole in the plot somewhere.

Ahh your right because when they met they were hypnotised and weren't themselves. Never really thought about it.

Shellfox
11-25-2002, 03:49 PM
but they were both gardians of holy objects people, the Cacia Lama and the Black Stone of Meca, so it made sence that the Anhaus brought them there, to turn gaurdians of religion in to being of death/antireligion. (yeah I know, a lots misspelled sorry it made perfect sence when I thought it it just lost a bit in the translation to type)

and Lotus Blossum was a character in the show, who would have fit nicely with the other girls

That was a cool story and there was anoather person who was somekind of a superohero called G olani who also fought the Animus.

It was a cool comic anoather cool mutant i forgot to mention was Armaggon he wasan evil shark mutant.

Jephael

Right, he came from the same time period as the Future Turtles!
"The Future Shark Trilogy" is a must read! :tcool:

Mondo_Gecko
11-25-2002, 06:37 PM
Yeah its such a cool story

Shellfox
11-25-2002, 07:12 PM
it was nice to see the Archie chacters in the video games- Armaggon, War, Hot Head/Warroir Dragon.

Shame the 4 horse men never showed up in the series, I love war, even if he never did much, he just looked so damn cool. Same goes for Null

Mondo_Gecko
11-25-2002, 08:13 PM
Yeah the Four Horsemen were awesome and Great Villians!!!!

Too bad they were never in the show that would made a cool episode.

I remember from reading the letters that some parents disapproved of some of the religious stuff they placed in the comic like the term Zen and the whole Buddist thing. They even got uptight over what was placed in the Archie comics, which pissed me off even more than how they were about the toon.

Mondo_Gecko
11-25-2002, 08:19 PM
Yeah i too remember that and being angry over stupid uptight parents. I always loved the letter section though.

Shellfox
11-25-2002, 08:36 PM
Some people, the religion aspect of the comics was the best part, better than most of the stuff archie does, the only thing that comes close is Sonic and its faults lie more in sega than the writing for me.

look some times an orange is just an orange and don't read more into it parents, the fact that the kids are getting a better grasp of religion in the world was seen as a plus by my parents

it din't matter to me as akid it was a Turtle Comic thats all that mattered.

I think the conservative parenting death squad need to grasp that, in the story, the tmnt were raised by a Japanese man and thus will learn about Japanese culture and religion.

Geez, just let art be art.

Worst enemy of the TMNT? No not Shredder, It's the parents. I only knew they ruined the second TMNT movie and the cartoon but now I heard they did that to archie too. Luckily they can't affect mirage...

heretic888
11-26-2002, 11:56 AM
hahaha!! vive la Mirage!!!!

how did they ruin the second movie?? I didn't know about this....

Karpo_007
11-26-2002, 12:23 PM
Have you seen it? The first one was too dark. Parents were waiting for something like the cartoon. They complained, and as a result, the TMNT didn't use their weapons in the second movie and it was made much more comedy like.

heretic888
11-26-2002, 12:37 PM
yeah, i saw it. i know it wasnt as good as the first one, but it wasnt THAT bad..... geez. damn conservatives.

Karpo_007
11-26-2002, 12:39 PM
Yeah. I really hope they don't affect any future TMNT projects. Of course times have changed since then. Hopefully we don't have to worry about that.

heretic888
11-26-2002, 12:46 PM
yeah, i dont think we have too much to worry about. things are a bit more liberal these days.

Mondo_Gecko

I like the second movie, Its not as good as the first but number three was worse.

Karpo_007
11-26-2002, 12:49 PM
Plotwise, yes but atleast they used weapons.

I'd like to see Mike strangling someone with his 'chucks in the next tmnt movie. That'd be cool. Heh, take 'em out stealth-style.

Kameko

*sai* Somehow I doubt they'd much get away with letting the turtles kill anyone in a movie that's likely to have a large under-thirteen following. Not that I'm against death in the movie, mind you. I mean, they ARE ninjas, after all. I just don't think it's gonna happen.

heretic888
11-26-2002, 02:25 PM
i hate to break this to you, but ninja does not necessarily equal killer. ninja sought to avoid all conflict until absolutely necessary. even in the Mirage series, it is always implied that Shredder and his legions are seriously going against what they were taught. Eastman and Laird categorically state in one of the letter columns of the City at War storyarch that the original intentions of the Foot clan founders were not 'evil'.

besides, Mike doesnt necessarily have to KILL anyone with the strangling act. He could just pass them out.

Karpo_007
11-26-2002, 02:30 PM
IF they would make a PG 13 movie, that kind of thing would be possible. But I don't think thats going to happen. I mean maybe they are waiting the toon watchers as audience. I have high hopes for the Mini series tough. I hope it will happen.

Kameko
11-26-2002, 02:31 PM
 I'm aware that ninja doesn't equal killer. But like any 'battler of bad', it's bound to become a necessity at some point. I'm also aware that they AVOID conflict -- "They fight because they must, but it is the last choice for the true ninja." Please don't imply that I'm stupid. It's not appreciated.

Although, granted, that would be a pretty cool tactic. Can't knock 'em out? Choke 'em! (( , I sound like a sick commercial or something...))

We strike hard and fade away..... into the night.

mwhahahahah!!!

Karpo_007
11-26-2002, 02:44 PM
Well the TMNT didn't have to kill Shredder in the end of Return to New York. It was prety much personal.

Kameko
11-26-2002, 02:50 PM
'Return to New York'?

heretic888
11-26-2002, 02:52 PM
issues 19 to 21 of volume 1.

Yes, it was a matter of satisfying Splinter's 'honor'.

City at War deals with the repercussions of that even, however, and results in tremendous character growth.

Karpo_007
11-26-2002, 02:55 PM
I haven't read that far yet. I heard it's good. And no spoilers please!

Shellfox
11-26-2002, 02:59 PM
Well topics strayed quite a bit hasn't it.

Man I wish we could get Archie to do more TMNT stories, at least release what they were going to do

Karpo_007
11-26-2002, 03:02 PM
It's over 7 years it got cancelled. Right after the Volume 2 of TMNT comic was cancelled. There begun the Downfall of TMNT.

heretic888
11-26-2002, 03:04 PM
yeah, i wish Archie would start it up again..... but honestly, aint gonna happen.

you'll like City at War, karpo. it is the single BEST tmnt storyarch ever written.

Karpo_007
11-26-2002, 03:06 PM
Im looking forward to it.

Karpo_007
11-26-2002, 03:28 PM
As you probably know, I bought the wholw first volume. 80% of them are near mint, other the best quality available. IF you want them all in as good quality prepare to pay over 200$.

Start with the Collected Books! :)

Karpo_007
11-27-2002, 09:01 AM
I bought the normal issues. 1-4 are reprints tough.

Jephael
11-27-2002, 10:22 AM
Start with the Collected Books! :)

The Collected Books are a much quicker way of getting the earlier issues of Mirage Volume 1. Infact the very first one has every issue Eastman and Laird did together (1-11 and the Micro-Specials) while the rest ar simply re-prints the 25 issues that followed.

heretic888
11-27-2002, 11:27 AM
i LOVED the microseries reprints of the early tmnt issues!!! the painting and coloring job was just done so well!!!!

Karpo_007
11-27-2002, 12:37 PM
Are you talking about the First publishing Graphic Novels? I have been thinking about getting those.

heretic888
11-27-2002, 12:39 PM
those are ****ing awesome!! i wish i had them!

Karpo_007
11-27-2002, 12:42 PM
I could get all of them but number 2. But it would be pretty expensive. Il have to see if Santa brings some money...

heretic888
11-27-2002, 12:44 PM
or get a job. :D

Karpo_007

A Job? Blah... High School is job enough...

Jephael
11-27-2002, 12:51 PM
Hopefully, your parents aren't gonna go buggin ya about getting a job until after you graduate. My dad made me get one by my late Junior year in HS.

Karpo_007
11-27-2002, 12:55 PM
Well I could get a summer job... IN here you go to HS when you are 16. Normally it takes 3 years, but im lazy and am doing it in 4. After that, Army calls...
