View Full Version : Could a female turtle work?

I doubt that Mirage would ever risk introducting a female turtle character in any of their universes ever again after the fiasco with Venus in the Next Mutation, but do you think a female turtle could work?

While I prefer the turtles as being the only four of their kind, the idea of a female turtle is fun to think about. I always thought it was a shame that Venus was such a failure because the concept of a female turtle isn't so bad, and could've been awesome, IMHO, if done properly.

The trouble with Venus, was that from the instant she appeared, she took over EVERYTHING. I always found the way she could kick everyone's butt completely unbelieveable and rather ridiculous. They could've shown she was a good fighter without making her into the worst kind of Mary-Sue imagineable. That was the main problem. But really, with the low budget and gawd awful scripts I don't think Venus ever stood a chance.

However, if a female turtle had been done correctly, in a universe that had the darkness and intelligence of say, the First Movie or the New Toon, I think it could've worked. What I personally would do was introduce the new female turtle in a two or three part Arc, and then have her apperences very limited to special cameo's so that her apperence would be something to look forward to. IMHO, that's how Venus should've been handled, having the whole show revolve around her was a huge mistake.

What do you think?

No. A female turtle means there is a chance they could reproduce and that destroys the whole "only ones of their kind" bit.

If they put in one female turtle mutant with four young men turtle mutants...

I would feel sorry for her with four hormonally charged males chasing after her.
But in a way...

it doesn't sound to bad.

As long as they don't pull off that crap where they say that she was always there from the beginning but somehow everyone overlooked that it was 5 turtles mutating instead of 4. I hate it when they pull retcon crap like that.

I always hated the idea of another mutated turtle even if they where male or female. the Turtles are supposed to be four of a kind. The only thing I could see come from a female turtle is violent love rivalry with all the turtles, which would rip them all apart.

But hey, it is pretty much confirmed in the Mirage universe that the turtles if given the chance and right circumstance have sexual drive. Michaelangelo mated with a aliene and seemed to even ( for lack of a better word) spawn/father some eggs.

The Female turtle thing probably wouldn't work, but it might have if it were done from the start, but the TMNT are left with dating Aliens women or fox alien women.

Ninjara wasnt a Alien <_<
Anyways a female turtle just isnt needed. Females obiovusly have no problem with the turtles being all brothers and it's best to keep it that way. A female could cause issues. She smacks the others around but if they hit her back it would be sending messages to kids that its okay to smack girls around and it's just a bad idea

I completely agree with Jestergoblin and Elite. Part of the TMNT's appeal is the fact that they're all alone in the world. The addition of a female turtle (Or any other mutants for that matter) would destroy that aspect.

Hell, I don't even like Michelangelo having a pseudo-girlfriend in the current comics...

While I don’t think that a female turtle should become part of the TMNT universe long term, I do think that it could work short term/occasionally. I don’t think they should be adding any new “central” characters at all, now that I think about it.

For example, if they made her a villain. I think that would make for some great storylines. As long as they don’t do a cliché “redemption” thing. Although having her sacrifice herself would be an interesting twist… Or having a human become a mutant through some accident. She could be in denial about what she is now and not want contact with the others.

I don’t see why everyone assumes female = babies. Odds would be that every mutant would be sterile. Making that discovery would be at least as tragic as realizing there are no females at all. But I do agree that it would change the whole family dynamic. Though Laird has changed about everything else…

It's an impossibility to include one, morally, because the TMNT are "unique", and going against that with Venus betrayed the original concepts, Mikey's affair with the Regenta only serves to create babies that are unique themselves, they will be as different to the Turtles physiology as they will be to Regentas'

Okay now that I have more time I can go into it a little more
How would they explain her origins? In the comics it would be impossible for a human to become a turtle. Remember not only do the Uthroms regulate their materials better but its highly unlikey such things would happen. As for the show the only way I see it working is if Bishop discovered a way to use the DNA samples he took from the turtles to create a muntant turtle who was female. I guess in the end she could end her life by realizing how evil Bishop is and taking him out herself. She wouldnt have to be or need to be any turtles girlfriend. That would make things complicated though it would be intresting if one of them fell for her and took it hard when she died. Im aiming for Leo since he's normally the stronger one. Though that wouldnt work out in the show or the comics since he obviously has the hots for Karai. Don seems to like April so that would leave Raph or Mikey*though if this was in the comic *some how* Mikey is taken*. I would say Raph would be the prime choice since he fell for someone in both the orgnial series and the Archie series. It was intresting since he's the hothead, though in the orgnial series they didnt do any of the turtles personalities justice. Yeah that's pretty much what I think

It might work if they did it right but saying there were 5 turtles instead of 4 in the original mutation would just not work. They would have to come up with some sort of side story of how she got mutated as well. Overall, I don't think it would be very easy to do correctly and thus shouldn't be touched.

I always thought of the turtles in all the universes as being closer to be human than animals. To me they only look the part of a turtle and every thing else is mostly human. Thats why I thought it would be appriate that they would be more attracted to human females than mutated ones.

i always thought that would be ok if the turtles where to become attracted or fall for a human famale but come to the devastating conclusion that no matter how human they are, they can't enjoy the same freedoms that human enjoy. Like love. That could very well reinforce their enstrangment of the human world and make them come to bitter acceptance that they are different.

And I don't like that thing that Michaelangelo is with. She is freaky and I can't believe that he would touch that with a ten-and-half-inch pole  let alone mate with it . I think he's been nocked out one time to many.

I don't like Regenta myself, but that's just because shes' an irritating character, the story is fine, just not the execution with the way she's written.

I don't base predjudice purly on looks. I see that as a measure of racism actually...

Who is Regenta? I don't mind the turtles getting girlfriends. because they might want a lover sometime in the furture and humans wont except them into their world, so I guess thats why the writes let Raph be with Ninjara. or the Turtles will have to find Alien girlfriends. :ohwell:

Who is Regenta?

Star reading Volume Four's synopsises on the official site, she's an alien delegate Michangelo took under his care, they fell in love. They had sex, produced a few eggs, and now both are in space.

Ninjara is'nt an alien.

My thoughts exactly!

The TMNT are far more human than turtle. Dispite not being appart of the primates family that humans are of, they still relate to humans in just about every way except for having some reptilian characteristics.

The TMNT are super-evolved creatures that aren't really turtles any more... though since there isn't a scientific name for their "species", they're still refered to as turtles.

If the term "human" didn't exist, we'ed be called taleless monkeys! :P

Anyway... I don't really see a point to there being a female turtle, or a fifth turtle, period... It sounds like fan-service to me.

But if it was to happen in the new series, I don't think that her being a mutant turtle from Earth like the TMNT would work. I'd say to either have her come from an alternate reality, or have her as a humanoid-turtle alien species.
Even then, her appearance should be rare. ...maybe even just a one time thing.

i usually think that girl turtles would only work out in fanfiction. you can do your own thing. but for mirage... *gives the thumbs down* not really a good look. don't get me wrong, i like the idea. it's just that it can get abit to out of hand

the only way i could see a female turtle working is if those eggs are really Michaelangelo, one of his off spring happens to be female with her own origin and story line. That the only way I caould see a feamale turtle working naturally with it not being a cheesy rip off of the turtles origins.

Yeah ok I see where your coming from, maybe I was a little to pre-judgemental on her.

Though it's been said, I never liked the concept of a fifth turtle. What would become of the theme song?

"One! Two! Three! Four! . . . . five?"
