I heard from people that the later seasons are terrible and worth skipping.

My question is if Lion Gates releases the other seasons on dvd, should I bother my time and buy them? I'm talking about the origianl tmnt cartoon.

I honestly only remember Seasons 1 and 4 because I owned them both on VHS and watched them alot. When the show was actually on TV I saw some of the finial 2 seasons. Personally I hated the last season(s). When ever that red sky crap started the show got stupid and boring to me. Dregg was lame and the long drug out mutation thing where Leo turned into a monster went on way to long. I would skip the last season if it wasnt only 10 bucks. But reall, it's only 10 bucks. I would even buy TMNT 3 if it was only 10 bucks, and there nothing else better to waste my money on O_O

yea I see allot of you say the last seasons of so on and so forth of the old toon was boring...but ya know I've got every episode on vhs from when I used to tape them....and the new show...but I'm sorry allot of this new show is way more boring then the excitement the old show even the dregg episodes gave me....
but hey to each there own....to be honest I think the red sky season was the closest tmnt classic ever got to this new show....I for one liked the happy mixture of the 2.

I say get it. I've only seen about four episodes of the old toon and I loved them. Never laughed that much for awhile  if I were you, I would get it. Never know, you might like them :)

If not, you can always keep them until your old or when the DVDs are old and valuble, and then auction them. Or sell them on eBay, whichever is better ;)

Seasons 4-6 are abysmal, but Seasons 7 and 8 are a return to the kind of tone and continunity seen in the first season mini-series

It's all a matter of perception and opinion. Some people love the later seasons, others hate them. Everyone has their own tastes, so I don't think you'll get a straight answer here. I say just buy the sets, watch them, form an opinion. If it's a bad one, get rid of 'em!

I'll be definately buying every dvd released of the old show, to show my support and loyalty. I just hope the dvds are released at least every six months, not once a year. Season 3 should be released this fall; it would make sense. All these other shows are getting two or three releases in one year, like Batman TAS. How about our green teens?

I forgot to mention above that the Season 1 DVD has a few Red Sky episodes on them so you should just watch those and decide if you like it or not. Those are what kinda reminded me of the Red Sky seasons. Before that I remembered them being really violent and dark but I guess I was wrong :|

I love just having them and no matter what you think about any one season there is probably an episode some where you will like. Its a chance to eventually own them all and you can't beat the price.

Honestly I enjoyed every season. Season 9 and 10 weren't that great though. The problem with the seasons 4-6 was that they had too many strange and pointless episodes. Still, all those seasons had a lot of good Shredder and Krang episodes.

I like all the seasons very well ( even 4-6) because they always provided me with something that I really enjoyed. Plus I just loved seeing my little heros in a half shell no matter what they where doing. I think my favorite seasons aer two, three, and seven. I likec the darker aspect they where giving to the series in seven vey much.

I think one of my favorite episodes from seven is White belt, Black Heart and the one where Donatello seriously attempts to kill the Shredder, they where pretty heavy. And I wish that they had kept with that tone a little longer before they abruptly went seriously over board and lost its core elemtents in Red Sky. The only season i find tolerable in Red Sky is season 8 and then a few scattered episodes in 9, and I abadoned it by season 10. So I don't think I'll be getting season 9 or 10. But the rest is still pretty good an worth buying.
