Taking stories from the Mirages...

About that, just how many stories can you "adapt" to the show, before runnig out of them? I mean, there's much likely going to be more episodes then Mirage stories.

They've said they'll be trying to follow the Mirage storyline, but it'll probably be very spread out. And they've promised that this will NOT be a Mirage remake, there're going to be new ememies and plot threads totally unique to this universe.

Probably not, I belive that they wont bring back anything from either archie or the cartoon. They probably just create new ones when there is a need.

Have to remeber nothing is written in stone for the future. Just because they say we won't see Bepop and Rocksteady now does mean we may not see them in say the second season (if there is one) due to fan out cry, or simply running out of ideas as the show progresses

Peter Laird is pretty much against the old cartoon and he is strongly involved in making the new show so they wont appear.

As I said time is not written yet and just because hes invloved now doesn't mean he'll be involved later, and never underestimate the power of the fans, remeber its the fans that kept Quantum Leap on the air for like 3 years longer than the powers that be thought it would be. So just cause the boss says they won't be on now can be viewed as fact, but there is a big diffrince between now and 2 years from now, so just saying it won't is a bit pointless because the possiblity exists it may be small but it exists none the less. Laird may not always be involed for this season yes, but later well we just have to see

Yeah. Most of the "Fans" think that TMNT were only a Childrens show. They have no idea that TMNT was not originally like that.

Y'know they probably couldn't use Rockstead, Bebop, and Krang even if they want to. Artisan (or whoever has the rights to the cartoon) probably has the rights to all the "cartoon-only" characters.

Well You should not got your hopes up in the first place. It has been clear from the start that this time it will be a adaption of the original TMNT. And there is no room for characters like those.

To everyone who wants the old cartoon/Archie comics back:

They are over and done!!! I don't know how to say it politely. Peter Laird has taken back the control of his creations. What you saw on the original cartoon had almost NOTHING in common with Laird's (and Eastman's) TMNT. The cartoon writers created their own 30 minute camp and bad jokefests for children aged 4-9, which happened to feature characters by the same name as E&L's comic book series. Think of it as the Batman show from the 1960s as compared to Frank Miller's Batman. Laird & Co. also did not take part in the Archie comics, so you can be fairly certain that there will be no returning characters from there either.

Laird wants a more serious action show, with an evolving story, and interesting characters. You can expect it to be similar to the Mirage comics, the first movie, plus whatever new aspects Laird decides to create in this NEW TMNT universe. Please put this debate to rest.

I have just one question for all of the original cartoon fans out there. Would you still like the show now? I understand you liked it as a kid and you have fond memories (we all do) but: Have you seen it lately? By today's standards, and by the standards of adult intelligence the show is awful! There is absolutely no substance, no character development, no story, and even no action! There's only bad jokes and pizza references. (Although I'm told the first season is decent. I remember it being good, but I haven't seen it in awhile.)

As for the New show being for children, So was the First Movie. And no one can say that it was bad. So is justice League and Batman TAS. mI like both shows and both have elements that needs older audience to figure out. The New show is not just for children, but because it's time slot, some compromises will be made. Just like in the first movie.

As for archie, It is the best TMNT comic published outside Mirage. And it did greatly what it was supposed to do, brought TMNT to the younger fans. But it was much better than the cartoon in every way. And it wasn't entirely for children either. Some things in might have gone over some younger readers heads.

1st Paragraph: Well said Karpo! There's no reason why a show can't be viewable by children but be intelligent enough for older teens and adults to enjoy it. If you are looking for comparisons, I'm expecting (and hoping) the new show to be comparable to the first TMNT movie (with more weapon use), or the X-Men show from the '90s, or Batman: TAS, or the Spiderman show from the '90s. If the show is of the same quality as any of the above, it will be a winner and a success.

2nd Paragraph: I'll grant you that the Archie comic was far better than the cartoon. I'll also grant you that it had some decent stories. Although as a whole it was a little bizarre (Cuddly the Cowlick?). But at the same time no one should expect any of the original characters from that series to reappear.

Peter Laird owns the rights to most all characters that appeared in the Mirage comics first.

The creators either own or co-own the rights to their Archie comic characters but are probably only able to use them in Archie publications.

Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Joe Simon, etc. don't own Spider-man or any of their creations because they created them for Marvel Comics as work-for-hire writers/artists.

Yeah, Image usually lets the creators keep the rights to their characters and I can't think of any reason they wouldn't let the TMNT Vol. 3 writers and artists do the same.

Thats probably true. Still there is no chance that characters like those can appear. And there is a fera that even if the show is success, It wont have a second season. I think this happened with Next Mutation. It was because Fox didnt own the rights to the TMNT and so didn't make enough money. And Fox is the Netwok again so im a little worried.

Well it's not the Foxbox that worries me, It's the fox in general. It cancelled Next mutation even tough it was a succes. That was because Mirage owns the TMNT and so Fox cant make enough money. Well hopefully the company wont do that to the new tmnt show.

Ps. It is not a bad thing that NT:NM got cancelled, but if their policy is the same, it can be trouble.

Actually, I think it was Saban who cancelled TNM, not Fox. I'm not completely sure what happened, but I know TNM was signed for a second season.

We were all very surprised when Fox took the Turtles off the air. They did not even have the decency to tell us they were doing it. The first we found out about it was when someone sent me e-mail that it was not listed in their TV Guide. The only thing I can think of is that they took it off the air because they do not own it. They make more money showing something that they own. FoxKids and Saban are in a partnership. Anything on FoxKids has to be produced by Saban. Fox owns more of Power Rangers than TMNT.

They don't actually know who exactly gave the order to cancel it, or why. That's the reason the Mirage crew came up with, not the reason Fox or Saban gave them. They didn't give Mirage a reason. I'm not saying the companies aren't in it for the money, but we don't know the whole story. I know for a fact they were planning a second season, it says so on that same site.

considering Fox rarly makes anyshow for more than one seaon I dought the TMNT well be on long term. Power Rangers and NASCAR are the only shows from the last few years that have made more than 1 season on FOX. Batman, Spidey and X-Men lasted for a bit, but the times were a bit diffrent and they had more name power, TMNT may follow them but with how FOX is for younger fans I dought it.

Well... Fox has nothing to do with the making of the new show so if they did cancel it, then it, in theory, could appear on a different network. For example, the Superman and Batman cartoons have been on three different networks.

Both shows are on the WB. I'm not worried about the TMNT not getting enough viewers, though. I think the current lineup for the Fox Box is very appealing for kids.

Yeah he has adi many times that it got boring after the first season. Personally I like the second season tooo, but seasons 3-6 are pretty much plot recycling. There are few good David Wise eps tough.
