Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced the production of the Justice League of America videogame, based on the DC Comics super heroes, for the Sony PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system and Microsoft Xbox video game system. Set for release in fall 2006, the Justice League of America game will be a super hero action role-playing game.

"We are excited to announce a videogame that will bring the legendary super heroes of the 'Justice League of America' to the next level for gamers," said Jason Hall, Senior Vice President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "The innovative and highly engaging combat system in the 'Justice League of America' game will capture the strength and appeal of the characters, offering players a tremendously fun and rewarding experience."

"The joy of the 'Justice League' as a game is the chance to be your favorite characters and to interact with the rest of the team in the rich fantasy world of the DC universe," said Paul Levitz, President & Publisher of DC Comics.

Featured super heroes will include Superman, Batman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Zatanna. Each super hero will possess unique super powers that are character-specific, creating a variety of fighting styles for players to utilize while battling the forces of evil. Gamers will have the power to bring classic super heroes of the Justice League of America to life, customize their skills and engage in one-to-two player cooperative combat throughout interactive and destructible environments.

...Could be interesting. Obviously it's liscenced, so the odds are working against it....but I've been wanting to see a game where I could play as The Flash for a while now.

He won't be the badass Flash that I play though. Could you imagine if they do a dark Flash movie, how cool the game would be if it was free roaming like SM2?

Wasn't there a JLA fighting game for the Genesis or something way back when? I've always wanted a DC fighting game along the lines of Capcom's Marvel titles.

Licensed DC games have almost always been terrible, I'm sorry. Superman 64, Aquaman, Batman Returns (the one where he had the beer-belly), Rise of Sin-Tzu...ugh. Never played that JLA fighting game, although I want to.

Here's hoping this one is a step in the right direction. Obviously all their powers will have to be pared down to make the game playable. No fun if you're invincible or can move at near-lightspeed.

Just one observation; of all the early JLAers, why pick Zatanna. I'd sooner play as Red Tornado or The Atom.

Cause she's a woman. Without Hawkgirl, I'm sure they just wanted to even the playing feild a bit. Plus the whole Magic element may be interesting to fight with.

Rise Of Sin-Tzu was fun, but I will admit that it wasn't the most well made game ever.

So.. What was wrong with Hawkgirl?

So.. What was wrong with Hawkgirl?

That's what I was wondering. If they really needed another female routine JLAer to round-out the line-up, Hawkgirl is easily the most well-known as of now (thanks undoubtedly to the animated series).

But this is a JLA game, not a JLU game, and in the comics Hawkgirl was never the most high-profile female member. And like Dr. Doom pointed out, Zatana's magic spells probably provide more interesting gameplay than Hawkgirl's flying and smashing (which is probably going to be most of Superman and Wonder Woman's gameplay).

As far as classic female JLAers are concerned, there aren't that many to go with. Hawkgirl, Black Canary, Zatana and Wonder Woman are pretty much it. Zatana could be an interesting character to play as, but I think Red Tornado and Elongated Man would've been more fun.

EDIT: What the Hell am I saying? I haven't even played the game yet...

Elongated or Plastic Man would be interesting, yeah.

Nothing is on Gamecube anymore. Everytime something comes out it's always on Xbox and PS2. Then if something comes out for Gamecube it ends up being ported to Xbox and PS2. Im surprised Super Mario Sunshine isnt on freaking PS2 and Xbox <_< I hate playing PS2 now. I try to avoid it if possible but sometimes I have to give in to play a few games. If this game isnt all kiddy and has some nice free roam, city smashing, ZOE style gameplay I want to check it out...I wish ZOE 2 was on Gamecube- :dead:

Hopefully this'll end the curse of Superman.

Every game he's been in so far has been Uber-crap.

What I really wanna see is a fighting game based on the Jla-avengers limited series from a little while back (right before amalgam I think)

Superman vs Thor
Ghost Rider vs Lobo
Mr. Fantastic vs Plastic man

and et. cetera
