Horror writer to pen comics for the House of Ideas.
by Hilary Goldstein

July 16, 2005 - Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada closed out his Cup O' Joe panel with a stunning announcement. Joe said that last year he was asked if he could have any writer from comics or outside of comics, who would he pick. The answer is now a reality. Stephen King will be writing for Marvel comics. The project and timeline is completely unknown. All we do know is that King will become part of the Marvel family. Our pick -- Man-Thing, but there's no way we'll be right on that one.

I can't wait.

That's awesome. If I could offer a guess, it would be Ghost Rider.

I'd love to see him do a Blade ongoing series, though I highly doubt that'll happen. I'd also agree that it's most likely going to be Ghost Rider. Marvel will want a comic series to build up the hype of the movie, and he seems like a great character for King to write.

I think the last comic King ever wrote was the Cycle of the Werewolf graphic novel. Never read it, but the movie was alright.

This sounds awesome and I'm sure it'll be Marvel's best selling comic of the year. King can put his name on anything and it'll sell (except maybe Maximum Overdrive).

I can see him doing Dr. Strange, honestly, but all the other suggestions (Man-Thing, Ghost Rider, Blade) fit him like a glove.

He sould do a story arc where Ghost Rider's bike becomes evil and drives itself, killing people. :D

With the way he writes internal monologues, he could do anyone, maybe even Spider-Man.

Heck, Joss Whedon's doing X-men cause he's a fan...maybe King's a Fantastic Four or Howard the Duck fan...:P

King could write a kickass Spidey.

I don't know what to think of this. I mean, I don't particularly like SK, but he has good ideas.

... I can't wait for the X-Maine! :D

Prehaps the Kingpin will be endowed witht the ability to take away peoples aflictions and he helps a death row guard's bladder infection...oh wait....that won't work...

That would be my pick. King seems to place an emphasis on the inner workings of the character and that would fit Spidey like a glove.

Alittle too much.

Anyways King+Marvel= Good stuff.

I don't think so
he'd do a better Daredevil.
