A nasty blow to Nintendo and Mikami
some scans:
http://www.jeux-france.com/news11319_resident-evil-5-annonce.html
Famitsu has been wrong in the past, so I refuse to believe it until I hear some official news. Even so, it doesn't matter, because Mikami is gone and I'll own all three new systems.

Well, I've said it many times. Revolution will be too different for ports of games from "normal" game systems. Likely, they'll get absoultely no third party support and Gamecube was the last boat for any third party games of relevence. I don't care. Gamers will buy it for Nintendo's games unless they fu*k the whole mess up, which they won't.
And besides, who didn't see this coming anyway? Nintendo and Capcom will probobly never work together again after they betrayl and backstabbing this gen. Frankly, this is to be expected. It's happened time and time again throughout the lst 10 years. Nintendo and Capcom are done, finshed, fineto, nada, zilch, ect.
And besides, no Mikimi, no $$$. I'm not buying some sh*t with Resident Evil's name just because it's got next gen graphics no more than I'd buy a Mario game developed by Retro. It's not right, and the game is just going to be a graphics hound piece of software with a name and no guidence from it's founder whatsoever. I wouldn't be suprised if Capcom frmed out development to Korea or some US software house. RE5 is about $$$ alone, and there's no creative side to it.
Anyways, I saw this coming the moment Capcom fu*ked Nintendo this year. They're done and that's that. I'm buying Rev for NIntendo's software, Retro, Camelot, Tokyo Nintendo, NIn STI, Sega, maybe some good stuff from Ubisoft and anyone else who takes the effort to try something new ect, and 360 for the Microsoft, Bungie, and Rare, and maybe some good third party titles (Sega, Namco, Tecmo). Not for some half baked RE cash cow with no Mikimi. Resident Evil was done for me waaaaaaay before this announcement. It was done when he left because I know the suits at Capcom have no respect for art whatsoever.
Whoa there. Whoa. Back that up. You can't predict that RE5 will be for nothing but money. That sounds like the fanboy talking again. Final Fantasy X's soundtrack wasn't produced by Nobuo Uetmasu, and it was really good. You can't know for sure until you see it for yourself.

So Leon is the hero again? I love how they totally changed his costume <_< He looks like a Solid Snake rip off to be honest....ehhh oh well now I can say I'm buying a PS3 for MGS 4, DMC 4, AND RE 5 ^_^
I don't even know who that is. It sure as hell doesn't look like Leon, though.

I'm not surprised either. Virtually no 3rd party games have been announced for Revolution (besides Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles). And this isn't the first time Capcom screwed Nintendo over. They took Viewtiful Joe, Killer 7, and RE4's exclusivity away from Nintendo and gave GCN a piss poor version of Mega Man Aniverssary Collection with ****ed up controls.
ThirdMarioBro
07-19-2005, 11:29 PM
Well....RE loosing Mikimi is like Nintendo loosing Miyamoto. It's like loosing the very heart of the operation.
I don't see any fanboy in it because I'll have a 360. I could buy it if I wanted. If that whole RE4 exclusivity mess had just been about the console crap, I'd say "fu*k Capcom", but I'd keep playing Resident Evil anyway. You don't blame the game and it's designers for the decisions of their boss. You blame the boss, and keep enjoying the game.
The problem is, RE4 is a modern masterpiece. An "Ocarina" of sorts. It's just one of those games that will always be remembered, and not just for it's graphics (not that they wern't damn good), but that's because Mikimi poured everything into it. I just don't know of anyone else at Capcom who could do that. I think they've already ran everyone else off worth keeping.
You're right. I should hold judgement for the game until I see it. But without Mikimi, I feel bad things about the future of the series. The NIntendo ripoff deal has nothing to do with that. Never did.

So... I guess no one is really surprised about this.
I can understand how you feel about no Mikami swaying your take on the new game, but you really have to try and have an open mind about what the new development team has in store for the continuation of the series. I say if they f*ck up RE5, then it's probably safe to say goodbye to the franchise. I really hope they don't, but they have a lot to live up to after the masterpiece known as RE4. Those pictures look really nice, though. I'm a real graphics whore sometimes...

Well, I'll hold judgement until something comes of it. Those are just alpha screens. I hope to god they don't screw it up. RE4 was just so good. Just one of those games you feel privilidged to play.
Jonatello
07-19-2005, 11:36 PM
well several members of Production Studio 4 left to work at Clover after RE4 was announced for PS2. I doubt they'll ever get involved in another RE game. And I don't think Mikami is ever going to forgive Capcom. He even said he would cut off his own head if RE4 went to PS2. That's how serious he was.
ThirdMarioBro
07-19-2005, 11:38 PM
Has their been any news from him on what he'll be doing next gen?
and is being produced by series veteran Jun Takeuchi.
Who is this? Perhaps there is hope.

The last game I know of that he worked on is Killer 7. And I doubt he's working on Okami seeing as it's a PS2 title (and he publicly stated how he hates Sony)

Ahhhh, Killer 7. Another game that's underappriciated.

Yeah but he's wearing the exact same thing Leon did in RE 4. That's why I say that. Maybe he's another US agent? Maybe he's a new character? Or maybe he's that loser from Dead AIM because he kinda looks like him from what I remember
Either or I have a feeling that those screens mean ****. Like with RE 4 they will change it
I thought Okami was a Clover only project, guess I was wrong....

ThirdMarioBro
07-19-2005, 11:50 PM
Yeah, the headset thingy. Looks too much like Virtual Boy. They wouldn't do that again in their state for public backlash alone.
Anyway, we're getting off topic.
*edit*
Wait wait, I remember a long time ago that Sega and Capcom were repported to be working on Revolution. What heppened to that?

I heard Fils-Aime liked that video so much that he offered a job to the dude who made it. But it was definitely confirmed that it was a fan made video.
Back on topic, those scans look really neat. I haven't played any RE game anyway, so I'm not too worried about this.

Well Capcom is known for going back on promises and as for Sega, I guess Sammy isn't aware that Nintendo exists
Spitfire

Haha not that this would EVER happen but what if Capcom stuck it to Sony fans and released RE 5 on the Revolution with a crapload of extras? I would laugh my spleen out.

You should. Resident Evil 4 is contender for game of the generation.
I feel the name Nintendo On has something behind it so I keep that sig around. The headset was bull though. They can't get away with that after 1995's debicle.
Now I remember. At Sega's booth at E3 they had this deal called the "Sega Theatre" no video cameras or pictures allowed inside. They showed 7 seconds worth of next gen render footage from two Sonic titles. When I asked them about it, they said nothing, so I harassed them and they said the first one was from Rev, and the second was from 360.
Some guy behind me filmed it with his cell phone. You can find it on trackers here and there if you look hard enough.

Wow I;m still confused on who the hell that guy is o_O Looks bad ass though ^_^
It doesn't look like anyone from the older games. Perhaps they're starting a whole new storyline with a new character since Mikami left? That'd be kind of weird, but also a welcome new twist to the game. As much as I love the old characters, I wanna play as someone else.
Spitfire
07-22-2005, 11:43 PM
Yeah but the other games were always linked some how. Even if there was a new chracter. Claire was looking for Chris, leon was a cop in Raccon city. Stuff like that. I hope they do that witht his game too. And I hope those are humans chasing him and not crimson heads
Crimson heads make baby Jesus cry. I hate those things so bad...

I assume the dude from the trailer is Chris Redfield or Carlos Oliviera, I'll put my money on Chris, but I could be wrong. Also, earlier reports said the dude may be Billy Cohen from REZer0. But notice he doesn't have the arm tatts?
Looks cool as hell either way.

I just beat RE Zero and there's no way that's Billy....though that would be awesome >< Billy is one of my favorite characters. Doesn't look like Carlos either. Could be Chris, obviously they will have changed him a little since CVX. I'm still kinda betting it's a new character. Oh well, I was kinda hoping this new game would have a backround story of Krauser in it ><

I wonder if it takes place in the same Area as RE4? it sorta looks like it.
Plus searching the destroyed remains would be kinda weird

Africa is the setting. The birthplace of the T-Virus. ;)
That's not the birthplace of the T-Virus. The Doctor from Resident Evil 0 made the T-Virus. Way back in the 70's. He tested it on animals and then leeches. Eventually he tested it on people. Wesker and Berkins killed him but his Leeches brough him back ot life and he took revenge upon Umbrella by unleashing his Leeches and the T-virus on the train, Umbrella headquaters and the Mansion.
Yeah, dude. And we all know where the G-Virus came from. ;) If you didn't play RE2, we're fighting.

Two words: Ebola Virus. ;)

I don't see how 0 is bad. You'd have to explain yourself for that one.

It was bland and unrememorable. They took one of my least favorite characters (Rebecca) and gave her her own game. Billy was a cliche tough-guy-with-a-past-that-reveals-he's-really-a-good-guy who pretty much was a one-timer like the characters from the Dead Aim/Survivor games. (And Barry.)
The enemies, besides the walking leech guys, were horrible and extremely stupid. (The final boss is more dissapointing than Saddler and the T-Rex from Dino Crisis! )
The plot, while it tries to explain the origin of the storyline, was forgettable and made things even more convoluted than they were before. And that's the last thing we need in such a complex storyline.
And lastly, it was the final nail in the coffin of the original gameplay. It wasn't fun. The attempt at mixing things up with the team-system was pretty average and didn't add a whole lot than I thought it would.
It didn't have the atmosphere of RE1, the epicness of RE2 or the fun of the other titles. It was just...there. An attempt to fill in plotholes. It wasn't terrible mind you, but dissapointing and good evidence as to why RE4 is so damn good.

Basically Capcom just isued a statement demanding all media outlets remove the RE5 trailer from websites because it wasn't supposed to be "officially" released. Basically, forgot you saw it until they decide to show it again late fall. If you distribute it on the web, they'll come to your house.
Remember, this is the company that came to people's houses (I'm not kidding) and threatened lawsuits if they didn't hand over their imported copies of Marver vs. Street Fighter for Saturn because it had a Japanese comedian in it who prevented the game from being released locally due to licensing issues (aka him not wanting to be in an American game), thus Capcom came to people's house to demand the return of their imorted copies WITHOUT refund. They'd would have tried to sue those people too. They're so serious about that sh*t that they still actually come to people's house when a copy of that game turns up outside Japan. Basiclly, if they say you can't have it, they mean it.
Fu*k you Capcom *waves MvSF disc in the air* COME AND GET ME BASTARDS!!!!
