I'm not holding my breath on this. They still haven't been able to get all four of the Mirage style statues out for all these years. Still, if it does get released, I hope they consider doing a bronze variant. It would look very good with the Leonardo Bust that was done years ago.
Sweet!! Man I hope this comes to pass....

Am I the only one who is unimpressed by it?

"The Playmates' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Team has a pretty good handle on the collector's market, just that with the property being such a popular kids line, they are pretty limited in what they can do."
Is this a joke? Release some mirage styled tmnt figures through diamond just like you're releasing these statues (all 2 of them) then we'll talk.
I love busts and statues just as much as the next guy, but at the price they cost I could buy 40 of the new tmnt figures (not that I'd really want to).
Do they think kids are dumb or something? Like if they made actually GOOD toys that kids may become confused or frustrated? C'mon seriously. Kids will like anything with Turtles on it, that's why these pieces of plastic sh*t keep selling. If they made toys that were great quality and detailed and everything, they'd probably sell just as well if not better.
Transformers has alternators and then the kids line, GI Joe has 12", 3 3/4" (now DTC), and Sigma Six. I can't even name all the Star Wars crap for both kids and collectors out there. Those lines are all doing fine.
Now if playmates wanted to release some collectors figures through diamond, are they afraid little kids will start investigating all the online stores and comic stores just to make sure their versions of tmnt are the only ones around? If they saw a comic accurate figure I'm sure they'd think how awesome that ninja turtle variant figure is, and how it beats those weight lifting turtles.
Playmates could give a crap about collectors or even kids, as long as they keep releasing the same junk over and over and make money off of it they're laughing all the way to the bank.
A lot of their kid oriented figures are s(h)itting on the shelf anyway. Air Ninja, Ninja Flipping, Turbo Bashers, Mutations.... and soon to join them will be the Monster Trappers.
Don't get me wrong, I like some of the new tmnt figures a LOT, and I'm not asking them to stop making kid oriented figures, just put out some collector figures to compliment them. Even do a Spider-man where they have all those spidey variants, but instead of them being the same figure with different gear attached they're Spidey's based off different artists work on the comic books.
How I know Playmates doesn't care about fans is that I asked SOTA if they'd ever tried for the TMNT licenese because it would be great for their now playing line, and the president of the company said he tried for the license but Playmates won't share it to any other company, even if it's on a small scale that won't effect the regular line's sales.
Playmates if you're reading this, all I'm asking is to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make movie 1 accurate figures.

Hey, that looks pretty cool... though I'm a little surprised that they made Raph first. Leo tends to be the first one, then the others follow afterwards.

Same here. I kinda wish they have done a full body cartoon accurate one that you can put with the other three that would come out later. Kinda like the mirage versions but with the new cartoons simplicity and appeal.

Raph's been released, I'm hoping to get him one of these days. The last one is Donnie, he'll be out one of these days.

I'd rather have action figures in a form of a cross breed of McFarlane and Marvel Legends. Cut out some articulation and add some detail.

We'll call the company StraightFromtheSewer of SFTS for short. We can make our toys out of play doh and model magic until we get our feet into the toy biz. We'll just call it art and some stupid hippies will buy it.
Then we'll work our way up to the big stuff like plumbers putty and stuff you buy at fancy stores like Michaels (only rich people shop there, and grandmas).
Finally we'll make figures out of real wood in some sweat shop in cambodia. Then we'll forget to pay all of our workers and file for bankruptcy.
Ohh or we could make them out of paper.... hmm... I might need to rethink my plan.
