View Full Version : Age range of TMNT fans here

Zelda

Thinking of how cartoons are supposed to be for younger kids (supposedly ;p ), yet how the old series has an aging fanbase and the new series is considered dark and for older kids.....I was curious what the age range is around here.

The new cartoon is still considered for little kids, that doesn't mean older fans can't like it. It's relatively easy to find people that love animation and are older on the internet and conventions :p just check out toonzone.net :D

anywas, i'm 19

22/ male here. I watched the old cartoon and had lots of the old toys. I remember the day back in 1990 going to TRU with my granddad. I was going to buy the Technodrome; I was so excited. I had saved $50 for it.

Well actually, not really. I just had to put something extra in my post because the phrase "22/M" was too short to be sent.

All right - just wait a sec :)
For curious others - it was Smith&Wesson advertising banner which strikes a chord with my gloomy sense of humour. Nothing explicit really, but not everyone might find it funny and appropriate, so i restrained myself from putting it into the sig.

Damn straight, Buslady!

I know I'll still be a die hard fan when I'm twice my age.

Can you imagine that some people from back in highschool looked at me funny because I liked TMNT? Psh! I don't give a damn! My interest makes me interesting while their lack of interest makes them distasteful.

In any case, the TMNT are in their 30's in the Mirage comics. ;)

Haha, I don't understand our whole societal idea that responsible means serious(and boring)... it's MUCH more responsible to enjoy yourself! Relaxing is healthy! What's so responsible about wasting your life neglecting things that could've made you happy and maybe kept you from an ulcer ;p

21, 22 next month, and female here. Been a fan since I was six or seven. Six of those fifteen years I drifted, but I don't think I never really forgot about it.

*laughs* I can remember when I was sitting in 12th grade World History class, and we were studying the Renaissance. When all four of the famous artists in that era was mentioned, I sat straight up in my desk thinking "OMG... It's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!" I had the OS theme song stuck in my head for rest of that day.

Im 25 and female... been a fan since I saw the series in 1988 on AFRTS. Altho I more or less grew up watching it in German by going to my neighbors house everyday and watch it.

I grew up in a rather strict household and there was few shows I was able to watch. TMNT was one of the few shows my dad let me see. :P May have only started being a fan in 1988 but I've liked turtles in general since 1985 when my parents saved a tortoise that was in the middle of the road. I took it to school for show and tell then we set it free. :D I started reading all I could about turtles and when the show came on I got hooked.

Everybody in my family are fans... my step-dad is a MAJOR Don fan, considers him to be his hero. My mom is a major Mikey fan and does this really bad voice impression of him. :P My cousin Bryce refers to Leonardo as The Blue Dude.

Nope, I don't have any siblings at all! I think my mom was into it when I was little, but I really had no idea what she was talking about.

Actually, I discovered TMNT by total accident last...I think it was May. I was just channel surfing around, and I landed on it, and the end was one of those To Be Continued thingers, and lo and behold, I was hooked. Even though it took me a little while to figure out which one was which...I was calling Donatello Leonardo for a little while.

I didn't even see the old toon until about a week ago when I finally broke down and bought the DVD.

I am 29 and have been a fan of TMNT since I was about 11-12... sooo yeah about when it first came out! I remember getting up early one saturday morning and seeing one of the first seasons episodes just once and I was hooked.

I moved on to other things for several years after Red Sky seasons came out. I just didn't care for them as much. Then years later when the new TMNT toon came out and I discovered this website, I got hooked on the old toon once again. I'm glad I can watch the first 2 seasons now at home any time I want (and 2 VHS tapes with 2 episodes each on 'em from future seasons)!

Now for the 3rd and 4th seasons to hurry up and come out.

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

Just because some of us would rather answer a simple question with a straightforward answer, and offer some simple suggestions to maintain that simplicity, thereby avoiding to complicate things that don't need to be complicated, means we're naysayers and demanding that he conform to our way of thinking?

Oy! Jaf be 27, and male. Happy to see I'm not the oldest one around these here parts.

Started off around 1990, with the french translation of the Archie TMNT adventures comics and later the movies. Started to watch the old toons as a good way to improve my english (official excuse 8) )... Naaah, 'twas just a wholl lotta fun!! Then I get hooked by the Mirage comics, which is the media I'm still into.

Didn't see much of the new show : around here, you must have cable TV to catch the english version. And the french-dubbed version they air is «made in France», which is quite painful for Québec ears. Will get the DVDs some day.
