When the normal non-fan thinks of who a TMNT fan would be, I think most say male, because of the action figures and comics, but that shouldn't matter it's obviouse that girls read the comics and play with the figures. :P
I know that when this board was very young, the female members greatly outnumbered the male members. And we took full advantage of that. :evilgrin:

Neat...I knew there were a decent number of us women here, but we're really not that far behind the guys ;) Nice. People look at me weird for being a girl and knowing TMNT...and even weirder when I know more about the comics and TMNT in general than the guys do--although they own more action figures than me!
People should be more open-minded when it comes to women liking certain things that are considered 'male' territory.
Heck, without April O'Neil, where would the TMNT be today? ;)

I think the coolest she got was in SAINW because she was a rebel leader instead of a ditz. And in the old toon she was an idiotic damsel in distress. The first movie is my favorite incarnation of her.

@NeoBix: Whoa now, I wouldn't say I know more about TMNT than the guys HERE.... I meant people I meet in RL ;) or other non-TMNT forums, if TMNT comes up.
I liked her in the old series because she may have gotten captured, but she was verbally tough. But she repeated the same lines over and over and over again, gah! TMNT1 April was brilliant and I love her as a character but again, not really someone I associate enough to want to play as. And I REALLY don't like the new series April. Sometimes she's okay, mostly she's annoying.

In the vast world of TMNT fandom, I think there's a lot more guys into movies, TV shows and action figures, but there might be a slight majority of female reading the comic books on a regular basis.
By the way, speaking of female characters, Shadow rocks! Take that cartoon show on a sixteen years leap and get her on it! Now!

Lets not. I want my TMNT to stay ninja fighten' teens far a little while longer. But I wouldn't mid Shadow in the current series as a teenager. They could intriduce her with a different back story instead of the daughter of Casey. Maybe introduce her as the crazy gothic neice of Casey Jones that decides to just drop in and live with him cause she had a fight with her paerents about her nose ring.
And Then have the TMNT meet her and butt heads with a little before accepting her :D
