The only ONE thing I REALLY don't like about April now!

I can live with the twisted inkblot origin-- I didn't mind that story too much. The only thing that really bothers me with April now is that she is fighting in the comics. The Mirage comics and the original cartoon were the only places she didn't have to learn to be a ninja too, and I thought that was a little special. I mean, hell, I can understand having her fight on the new show-- I mean, that's pretty hot (keeps me watching plenty, know what I mean?). But in the comics she was always just a normal woman-- when'd she suddenly just start beating the crap out of a bunch of hoods?

It just doesn't feel right to me. Couldn't April have just remained a regular human, at least in what she does? I don't want to see her out beating ass, too. That's why we have everyone else in the comic.

I couldn't agree more. I've never, EVER liked 'ninja' April in any form. Not even in the new 'toon. Especially when she flipped through all those lasers. (April can, yet Casey couldn't? Riiiight...)

Agreed. I really don't like April that much ('cept in the movie) and to me this "training with Splinter" crap seems like a desperate attempt to make her cool. Oh geez, and that episode where she went all "Jungle Girl" on us? Gag. :dead:

In regards to April I've always viewed her as being tough, sure, but no magical ninja able to jump ten feet in the air and perform all sorts of flying jumpkicks and what not. I dunno, she's supposed to be normal.

I don't mind her new comic origin so much as it was at the very least creative AND made use of continuity, but we don't need another action hero. The Turtles and Casey and pretty much every other character in the book is there for that.

Characteral progression (My sister would love this Idea but she doesn't really read the new comics or watch the new series)

Well, yeah, characters can progress, that's never a problem with me-- but they don't always progress from normal civilian antique shop owner to chief ass-kicker within a day. For years, April progressed emotionally into middle-adulthood, and this was written wonderfully, from her meeting with the turtles, to the Massachusetts farm (the diary entry comic is fantastic) to City at War. She could have easily dealt with the shock of being nobody emotionally, her beating the crap out of a bunch of gang members doesn't make any sense.

Look at me, I've always been really aggressive (opposite of April), but if I were to go out into the street and start fighting, I'd prolly get the crap beat out of me. What do me and April have in common, here? Fighting experience-- or, lack thereof.

Instead they turn him into some retarded comic relief character... he was cool for his first couple of appearances, but then they watered him down.

I love what the new toon has done with the Turtles, but their treatment of Casey and April just goes to show that nothing can be totally perfect. *sigh*

DAMN! Why did it have to be Laird who became sole owner of the TMNT franchise? Really, I think Eastman would've handled the turtles A LOT better than Laird.

That may be true, but I guess we should be grateful that one of the original creators still owns the franchise. Even so, we can still complain. :goof:
