The official site has the preview up for Tales 13. And for all you Leo fans it should be rather exciting!

Plot:
Leonardo meets incarnations of his past and future in effort to return the favor he owes to Pai-Doth Noor by delivering a "gift".

My thoughts:
Chibi Leo, Modern Leo, Old Leo, and really old Leo fight Egyptians and uh what appears to be cat people. All thanks to the mystical monkey dude, Pai-Doth Noor. Leo doesn't age well... :P

Remender is a good artist, but not on the turtles. I can't stand the scrawny look to them.

Eventually we'll meet everybody we didn't recognize at Splinter's funeral. Has Radical been in any other issues besides the funeral one??

Radical and Complete Carnage were in something like Tales of the TMNT #5... Kevin Eastman describes them in his Artobiography as the TMNT's take on superheroes.

Now there's like a friggin million superheroes in TMNT.

Well, Tales #13 came out yesterday.

SPOILERS AHOY!!!


This was certainly the best issue of Tales in a very long while. I really think they should stick with the 2-issue format, as I really appreciated the cliffhanger and the extra amount of time to get into the story and meet all the characters (even if they were all the same character).

Rick Remender's art, I like. His pages aren't nearly as stylised as the cover, and if you've read Worms of Madness, you'll know what to expect. His use of lighting is fantastic, particularly in the scenes where 8 year-old Leo is playing with his brand new katana. I dunno, but I just liked the light through the doorway as it reminded me how my house used to look late at night when I was a kid.

Also some good philosphy and quotes in this issue.

"I know it must be weird seeing what you'll become, but try to imagine the opposite...imagine the loss one feels at seeing what one was. And seeing what one shall never be...again."

"You aren't just the are you are. You are all the ages you have ever been."

"I know how you think."
"No, you don't! *You* know how *you* used to think, not how *I* think!"


Overall, it was a good issue and will be even better once the arc's over with.

Hey! I just read it. I liked it. Remender's art is good, and I loved the frontispiece. That was terrific.

The inter-Leo interactions reminded me of future and present Raph talking in the Archie series back in the day.

Wow this was an awesome issue! I've been behind on the comics I still need Volume 4 #22 and Tales #11 >< Anyways I loved this issue! I on;y have one question they didn't answer. How old is the senior Leo?

I got the impression he was very, very old for some reason. Like older than people normally get-- turtle old. I don't remember where I got the impression from, I think there was a line early on.

Well the way he looks, talks, and acts it enough to tell me he's pretty old. And that blade he has it pretty futurey looking. Unless it's an Uthrom sword which isn't totally impossible.

Finally got a hold of Tales 13!!!

This was an awesome issue!!
Leo at 8, Leo at 15, Leo at 45, and Leo at uh really old?

Chibi Leo (age 8 ): So Splinter trusted him enough to give a child who still was tucked in at night by daddy with a deadly weopon???

Teen Leo (age 15): Hot off worms of Madness he's sucked into the past....

Leo at 45: But what age is he really??? When Chibi Leo asked him how old he was he replied "45 in human years..."....then what the shell age would he be in turtle years???

Elder Leo: His age was never divulged...perhaps it will be in Tales 14??? He's got a light saber and is as wise as Yoda and Splinter combined. Loved the homage to Kirby. :D

Teen Leo, 45 yr old Leo, and Elder Leo all remember meeting each other before. So for them it's just one weird time loop. They've done it all before. Yet only remember some of it. But doing all this before helps them help Chibi Leo.

Fave parts:
The Leo's saving baby Moses from the Nile Crocadile!! *lmao* Where was Moses' sister??? Wasn't she supposed to be watching him??? I don't remember mutant turtles in the Bible.... :P

This image below I found rather funny. It was just after they escaped the piranahs in the moat. It reminded me of the Evolution of Mankind picture. I call it the Evolution of Leo

I made my own scan of that same image you did, Raph's Girl. Except I cropped out most of that comic bubble and gave Teenaged Leo a different line.

It's funny when you think about it - this issue started with the youngest incarnation of Leonardo so obviously the next issue will end with the elderly Leo looking back at his past selves. Their memories of the trip are all partially wiped out while he will remember everything.
