View Full Version : The Second Movie

I just purchased the second movie today. I thought I used to have it, probably lost it in the hassle of moving everything from my room into a new one. But I was going to buy the third one and I remembered that when I was a kid I didn't like it at all. Is it any good? I have first and second but I don't want to buy the third one if I won't like it. Especially when I have to hunt it down. :|

Well, I mean, if you didn't like it as a kid, you will HATE it now. Like, with every ounce of your being. I loved it as a kid. When I watched it recently, it was like parts of me were dying.

The third movie?...
Well, practicly the whole TMNT community will tell you to not bother wasting your money on that joke of a movie. It's bad... real bad. For starters, the TMNT look awful. They're quite unattractive in appearance and they infact kinda look like frogs.
The story it's self wasn't fantastic and is infact barely tolerable.
Casey's in it, but he has no character developement and has only a few short scenes. It was rather pointless to have him in the movie if it was going to be like that.
There's no Shredder. That is one of the biggest disappointments right there.

I can go on but I think I'll stop right there.

If you want this movie for the sake of having more TMNT merchendise, then fine, go ahead and buy it. But if you're looking for something with quality and taste, you won't find that in the third movie.

Well, it honestly ain't worse than Secret of the Ooze; most people aquired taste when the movie came out, hence the reason why everybody hates it. You have the clear impression watching it that they cut (or never filmed) a lot of scenes that would give a little unity to this farfetched scenario. But if you can stand 'Ooze, NT:TNM or those TMNT/Power Rangers crossovers, then go with it, it ain't worse (just don't pay more than 15 bucks, canadian dollars). And it has the Sacred Sands of Time Scepter™ ;)

My bet is : your enjoyment of this psychotronic masterpiece depends on what you smoke during its viewing.

You must be kidding, Jaf.

Sure, The second movie wasn't nearly as serious and mature as the first one, but it's still a great movie due to it's comedic and fun value. The third movie was just plain bad. It had no viewing value what so ever.

About 99% of the TMNT community feels the same way as me and Josh, and though I understand you're part of the 1% who actually enjoyed the movie, Jaf, it's still a great gamble for Kenton.

Kenton, your odds of enjoying this movie is pretty much 99 to 1. I wouldn't chance it if I were you.

I've always believed that if the costumes were better, this movie wouldn't catch near as much flack as it does. I actually prefer it over the second. Don't get me wrong, it's by no means great, but it isn't terrible either. I also think it'd have been better if they used Renet, Lord Simultaneous and Savanti Romero instead of Walker, Norinaga, Kenshin, Mitsu, etc. etc.

The Secret of the Ooze is the Adam West Batman of Ninja Turtles flicks. It marks the middle transition from a wonderful, well-rounded movie to a fun and cheesy movie to a smelly pile of crap.

You must be kidding, Jaf.
o.k. o.k. Jaf didn't said he ENJOYED the flick; Jaf said he doesn't see it as worse than 'Ooze.

But I'll give Kenton a chance : If you can stand NT:TNM/Power Rangers crossover, now go with it (10$Canadian max.) Now, nobody is gonna tell me that this Saban delirium his BETTER than TMNT III!! Give Jaf a break! (and to think that it was «Les Mystérieuses Cités d'Or», greatest french animated serie ever, which gave that guy enough cash to move to the States!)

But you gotta admit TMNT III has some great cheezy pseudo-National Geographic footage!
My bet is : your enjoyment of this psychotronic masterpiece depends on what you smoke during its viewing.
Québec Gold should do it. Cheap, natural & effective :P

the third movie was kinda cool because of the prophecy that 4 demons looking like turtles would come to cleanse the land of evil.
& then our fav guys in green come in & suprise everybody.
they're were some great scenes, but this movie really is more for a friday night.

Get the third film, if only for Donatello's comedic relief. That's basically the only thing I like about it.

I think I have to agree with Ryona and Josh. I have the third one on VHS from when it came out but when I bought the DVDs I couldn't bring myself to re-purchase the third one. I don't think I have watched it in years cause I seriously cringe. It might be the costuming or just how I can't stand how silly they made a potentially interesting plot.
You may just want to have it because you are a fan and I won't deny to at least owning it :P
If you need a TMNT fix I would hope the first movie would do it for you best anyway :)

I completely, one hundred percent agree with Elite.

Anyway, if you like TMNT II, you shouldn't have much problems with TMNT III either. Just don't expect much from it.

Actually I see a lot of diference between TMNT II and TMNTIII on the second movie even if they dont get to use they're weapons that much and the brief appearance of that Ice guy... the costumes were the best and at least to me its a good movie, I like how the TMNT interact with each other ever more than the first movie ,plus the story isnt that bad ,On the other hand .....I was thinking the same thing as you why havent I bought the TMNTII movie after all this time ......well exactly this past saturday I went and got it .....just to remind myself why I haden't gotten it yet to beggin with.... as Krow says the only good thing about it is some jokes, besides that its a load of terrible acting and terrible costumes... .at least it was nice to remember that when I was a kid I went to the theather to see it and actually liked it .....It was worth the memories period ..... so If you didnt like it before you wont like it now......

well, as for me, as a kid i didnt appreciate part 1. i preffered 2, and part 3 was second place for me. now i appreciate part 1 but its only tied to me with part 2. although part 3 is last on my list, i still laugh in it, and i think its a good movie, dispite the bad costumes (only bad if u compare).

Well, maybe I will only rent it then. I am sure the local movie rentals will have it somewhere. I remember not even finishing the movie as a kid, not sure why. Maybe I will find out tonight.

I thought the same thing after first reading Mirage Volume 1 #8.

hey I forgot, did the TMNT use their weapons again in TMNT III? I seem to recall all 4 of em using Samurai swords, and at least Don still using his bo, but did Raph and Mike ever use their weapons?

O.K. Kenton, just pick up the comic book adaptation; they still look like frogs, but you'll get Chris Allan drawing Casey Jones :D

HAHA  I don't think it was THAT bad. Sure there was no Shredder. Yeah Savanti NOR Renet were in it. The costumes were almost as bad if not as bad than the Next Mutation. And yes I also found it pointless to have Casey Jones there but.....um let me try to get back to you on that :D

At the time, Savanti Romero woulda been considered as lame as Walker since he wasn't on the show and noone knew him.

First off, I loved the second movie. I thought it was cool that you could now have two different live action movies: a more serious, darker tone (first film) and a little more goofy one (second)to watch. Plus, the second film reminded me of the orignal cartoon (more lighthearted, new mutants like on the show, etc.) Still love the 1st the best.

The third one is ok. Just ok. Don't hate but don't love it. I think it would have been much cooler if it took the story more serious. Turtles helping villagers from a major army = mucho drama. At least it could have. Maybe because I just saw Bruce Willis's Tears of the Sun (which i loved, especially the music). I think if the third movie was more serious or emotional like that (like seeing the guys change from goofy teens in the beginning to more mature adults in the end), then it'd be so much more respected. But they didn't and that is that.

TMNT 3 IS DEFINETELY A BAD MOVIE AT LEAST. It did have it's moments though, but not worthwhile. On the other hand, if you wanna see a whole lotta leg, (Paige Turco's April) then buy it.

It's kinda wierd that in the movies the turtles got sillier as they got older. :ohwell: Well at least Paige Turco was pretty hot. :D

Lol I might still go rent it. Haven't had time to get up town yet :D

Weapon X
08-27-2005, 08:15 PM
Yeah, it's atleast worth renting, I got it on DVD just because Im a diehard fan, but it's not that bad, just for the full blown entertainment value of it, and it's the TMNT

Kenton
08-27-2005, 08:17 PM
I will have it soon, I want to buy the box set of the three movies. Hopefully I like it, even though the turtles look strange as heck in the pictures I have seen

You think the guy's look funny, you havn't seen Splinter.

He looks so stupid! Why did they have to do that to him! Why  Splinter is in the new movie right? I wonder what he will look like, after seeing those weird headed turtles I can only imagine a Ratty Splinter :|

Weapon X
08-27-2005, 08:35 PM
Im pretty sure they didn't even finish that movie 3 puppet because you only see that much of him throughout the movie, as for the new movie I don't know yet, but only time will tell.

Kenton
08-27-2005, 08:41 PM
Third movie puppet is very crappy, all I can say about it. I hope he looks good in the new movie and not lame. Hope to see a trailer of it soon too

Weapon X

Indeed, it's cgi and theres a whole year to work out the kinks so it should be ok.

Yeah thats true. Most likely won't see a trailer till next year too :(

08-27-2005, 08:45 PM
There could be a "teaser" trailer, but most likely that wont even be till next year.
