Wow, that is pretty nice, I thought they were going to go completely new, thank god they didn't... Don and Leo's headband look almost the same, that might be a problem.......And why is Mike like dark blue/green?

I wished that they all would wear red bandana, but I guess that isn't going to happen. Laird himself has said that he likes the multi colored ones, and of course it makes it easier to tell them apart.

Hhhmmm...I doubt those are actual cells, they're probably colored concept sketches.

Why do they all have different colored skin? Aren't they supposed to be brothers?
Karpo_007
12-06-2002, 05:36 PM
It's based on Mirage so they should be brothers. Well those aren't actualy cells so the color may differ. From thos only Leo and Raph seem to have same colored skin.

12-06-2002, 05:51 PM
Yea, and then they wouldn't be brothers!
Greed
12-06-2002, 05:54 PM
no then they would be half brothers because they would still have the same mom
Tokka-B
12-06-2002, 05:57 PM
Ok, let me tell you this. Turtles don't reproduce with a turtle and lay only one egg, and then find someone else, it isn't there nature and it is absolutely retarded. Also, like I said before then they won't be brothers, they would be half-brothers...

I wished that they all would wear red bandana, but I guess that isn't going to happen.
That would be just plain weird. I like em with different colors anyway, because each color tends to show off their individual personalities.
Karpo_007
12-06-2002, 07:13 PM
The reason they used the multi color ones because it makes it easier to tell them apart. Originally TMNT's bandanas are all red, but I guess that can only work in a comic.
As for the brother thing, Im not sure if they are Biologicaly brother in Mirage, but they are Brothers. The old cartoon didn have that, the TMNT were always talked as friends. Also splinter never alled the sons, only turtles, pupils or students. Well the original cartoon's plot wasn't that deep anyway.

I've actually grown quite fond of the multi-colored bandanas. I'm glad to see the tie in the back long though.

They were brothers in the cartoon and Splinter did call the my sons sometimes
heretic888

some clarifications....
The turtles' different skin colors is based on the colors on the original toy lines. If you recall correctly, the old playmates tmnt had those exact skin colors. Mike is dark green, Raph is light green, and Don and Leo are different shades of brown-green.
The turtles to my knowledge were 'brothers' in the mirage line, but this was never known if it was biological or metaphorical.
The turtles were never called 'brothers' in the cartoon (although they were quite often in Archie) and Splinter rarely called them 'sons' (although he did often in Archie).
The reason they could get away with having only red bandanas in the comic was they were in black and white (most of the time). This wouldnt work in a cartoon however.
Mike does indeed look a lil too crazy.
Jephael
12-06-2002, 08:19 PM
It's basically the Huey-Dewey-Louie effect. If anyone recalls the older cartoons where all three of Donald Duck's nephews wore red, it was impossible to tell them apart. Then they decided to give each one a seperate color. Huey stayed red while Dewey wore blue and Louie was green.

Just a thought, since they don't have initials on their belts anymore (thank you whoever) Maybe the guy'll change the masks/weapons at times to confuse their oponents if they need suprise. I mean they all pretty much seem the same (provided they are all the same color in the show) it would prove a asset in a fight since the opponets would identify their unique style/personnality with the color mask and if its changed(and since they can use each others weapons with a great amount of skill) it would provide an added elemit of suprise.
Lost my train of thought
Well if one was hurt in a fight, lets say Mike for argument sake and Shredder has/wants to fight for some unknown reason, one of the others could just slip on the mask and 'chucks and fight him and he wouldn't know for a few seconds giving his brothers enough time to escape with the injured Leo

They were brothers in the cartoon and Splinter did call the my sons sometimes
Heretic prety much said it, but No the TMNT are not brothers in the cartoon. And splinter never calls them sons. Atleast in the first 170 episodes. They never call each other brothers only friends. They were brothers in Mirage and If I remmber right, in archie too.

The word 'brother' doesn't necessary mean biological brothers (or anything else, adoption).
Remembering the turtles to be the only ones of their kind, woudn't 'brother' be a quite fitting word. If nothing else, It could perhaps enhance the felling that they atleast have, so to speak, a family.
But I'm sure we have all spent a thought about this.
Karpo_007
12-07-2002, 05:32 AM
Yeah it is never said that it is biological, but In Mirage they are a Family. In the cartoon it's more like a master student relationship. Well it doesn't have continyity or deep plots so it doesn't really matter.
Shellfox
12-07-2002, 02:30 PM
Short of Don doing a DNA on all of them test I dought we'll ever know if any of them are really related by blood
Karpo_007
12-07-2002, 02:32 PM
Well that's not important. If you think realisticly they brobably aren't blood related.
HorseTechie
12-07-2002, 02:52 PM
*has a bad flashback from TNM* I remember Leo telling Venus they really weren't related by blood... like another one of Saban's lame pick-up line for Venus or something. Bleh.... that line sure did get a number of us fans in a tissy back then too.
But since all that is null now *phew*... I agree in thinking the TMNT as brothers, be it by blood or ninja clan association.
I also think they made the Turtles different colors for the cartoons, cause I remember reading in an interview someone here did with 4Kids, that the TMNT would not wear their masks/weapons when not in Battle Mode.

Once I let some classmates look at an issue of TMNT Adventures and they were actually shocked to see the turtles naked. Of coarse I said something along the lines of "So? They're always naked; they just happen to be out of uniform!"

One cool thing from mirage has stayed. The TMNT have pupils when not wearing the masks.
Jephael
12-07-2002, 05:08 PM
Yeah, but sometimes they'll show the turtles' pupils in close ups mask or no mask. Infact, Peter Laird seems to be inking the pupils in alot more often than he used to.
Shellfox
12-07-2002, 06:27 PM
That's kinda what they did in the comics; even the Archie series had them strutting around without their uniforms on.
Only time I rember them naked was when they were in the hot tub. The rest of the time they at least had some form of clothing with their color on it, even if it was just a head band.
They at least need to wear the colors some how I mean if they do all have the same skin tone and are totally naked and don't talk none of us will know who they are
Greed
12-07-2002, 06:34 PM
I always thought there should be something a little bit more than the color masks and pads to tell them apart like in the movies they had spots on there skin but they were all differnt or differnt skin color like the toys or that new sample picture
Shellfox
12-07-2002, 06:45 PM
I always thought giving them diffrent jackets was a good idea, like the future TMNT in Archie, still naked just jiving them diffrent out word clothing that matches their pesonality, Though Raph does look good in a baseball hat

I like the turles although the consistent colors may have been better
The problem with having them all different colors is that the risk of color errors goes up. But as I understand it, now a days they actually have colors listed as "Donatello skin" and "Donatello skin shadow". And there are less animation errors like that now, as opposed to when the old show was on.
