Splinter's favorite Turtle

What turtle do you guys think is Splinter's favorite and why? I'd say Leonardo cuz he's the most dedicated and he spends the most time with Splinter. I have included a poll.

I don't exactly know why Splinter would have a "favorite" out of his four sons, but If I had to choose I'd say Leo.

I agree because it's his family. He may favor them in different ways but if it came down to choosing one over another I doubt he could...

I agree with Shadow Leonardo and Tinuvielsdreams. Splinter is not the kind of parent to choose a favorite over the others.

Now if the poll was "Who does Splinter connect with best", then I would say Leonardo.

I also agree with all of the above...Splinter would just as readily lay down and die for any one of them as he would for another...IMO he clearly loves them all equally and favors none, not even the slightest..

And I agree with you Ry that he probably connects best Leo, mainly becasue Leo is clearly on a different spirtual level than any of the other 3...and we all know how spirtual Splint is...

I picked Donatello. Why? Well, my train of thought reached this conclusion.

He's the only one out of the four that have no clear strong standout characteristic, other than his technological and scientific intelligence. He also seems to be the only one who gives Splinter the least amount of trouble. He's not overly passionate about his training as Leonardo is, he doesn't lose his cool like Raphael, and he doesn't get distracted like Michaelangelo tends to do. He's easier to deal with all-around.

I agree that Splinter simply could not choose one, but as far as being able to live with 24/7/365, I think he might pick Donatello; Leonardo a close second, of course.

That's like asking someone to pick a favorite kid. I can't vote on this one.

Splinter might be most likely to be friends with Leo if they weren't in a father-son relationship. But having raised the Turtles from tiny little squirts, he has seen each of them grow and improve and conquer personal hardships. He also has watched them for fifteen plus years and sees what each contributes to the family, how they can be so different and yet have such unity.

So no, he would definitely not choose one. If it came to a decision of losing one and sparing the others, Splinter would be more likely to sacrifice himself if there was any chance his death could save all four. He's the dad - that's what he does.

Splinter wouldn't favor any of them over the other. He loves them all equally. All of them are fun to teach. Leo gets it but sometimes is cocky, Mikey is fun loving, Don always gives his full attention and adds his own style to it, and Raph has rage that needs to be worked on.

Splinter shouldn't if he does favor one over the other but parents aren't perfect.
Take my gramma for instance, she loves ALL of the kids,grandkids,etc...but her first born, my uncle will always be special. Same with me, if i have another someday, I'll love #2 as much as Chris but Chris is my first kid and he'll always be special.

I really doubt Splinter favors one over the other, but like one other mentioned, he connects with Leo better.

Very true, parents aren't perfect. There can be times when you dislike your children as much as you love them.

I would say that Splinter loves his sons dearly and tries to treat them equally, but I also think he has favourite 'traits' in each of his sons.

I'm sorry but even though Splinter loves all the turtles equally, I feel he shows some definate favortism toward Leonardo. Not to the point that he neglacts the others but Leonardo and Splinter are always together and and all. But who says that having a favorite son is a bad thing, as long as the parent doesn't make the others feel like crap about it.

The TMNT seem to have favorite among each other. It obviouse that Raphael is Leonardo's favorite brother and vise verser. In the classic Series Donatello was defantly Leonardos favorite brother and the feeling was mutual with donatello toward Leonardo, since they where always together and paired off with one another.

And in the classic toon I picked up on some serious favortism from Splinter. He obviuosly favored Leonardo and Donatello a bit more than Raphael and Michaelangelo.

My sensei, Master Splinter, clearly loves us all as equals.

But, when it comes to our styles of life, Leonardo resembles sensei the most, and I guess that's why they have that special bond with each other. They feed off of each other so well.

But then, that would make them stereotypical characters.

Splinter said so himself, "Do not limit your life to the form of one breath."

That's why he cares for us all the same. Otherwise, he would love Leo the most.

Absolutely he appreciates them on different levels...I don't think that equals out to any favortism for any one turtle though...

It's like what I said in the 'Bandana Color' thread: Even though we are a team, we're still individuals. Splinter exploits that through different forms of appreciation for all of us.

None of us are better than one another. If we want respect from our sensei, we have to earn it.
