Legit, original tmnt toon dvds are out!

But...it's kinda too good to be true.
Someone posted a link at the tmnt-files message board about some real tmnt cartoon dvds were out...well it is true but there's a problem.
They're all in freaky dutch :P i doubt they have an english audio track, they probably don't.

They look legit enough, they have the FHE logo and all, and i doubt discshop sells bootlegs.

Edit: I now read the page(Imgine that, they wehave to learn swedish in school) It syas that the audio is Swedish mono.

The title translates somewhat "How it all began" and so it is probably the first season edited to one movie. That was the name and cover of the VHS we had here in Finland.

So it wasnt dutch, it was swedish...oh well all it matters is that it's not english :dead:

I looked all those covers now, Those are excatly the same that were released on VHS in Finland. Except there were 10 VHS and only 7 DVD's. They aren't probably even better quality, but VHS convesions. It makes sense, as the Finnish Vhs were dubbed too.

Hmmmm...so since they are selling vhs version, they made dvd versions aswell...makes sense.
If fhe would still be making tmnt vhses then maybe there would be some english dvds...i dont know, i dont get it why they would get dvds out in sweden but not in the usa.

The Company who orginally released the 10 vhs in Sweden probably has the rights to those still. So they just re-release them on DVD.

Well I figured out what some of them are cause the covers are the same... here's the list of what I've figured out:
DVD 1- no idea
DVD 2- Pizza by the Shred (Also features Return of the fly in american vhs)
DVD 3- Invasion of the Punk Frogs (Also Features New York's Shiniest in UK version)
DVD 4- The Four Musketeers (Also features Take Me to your Leader in US version)
DVD 5- Attack of the Big Macc (Also features Old Switcheroo in US version)
DVD 6- The Epic Begins (I think)
DVD 7- Super Rocksteady and Mighty Bebop (Also features Mutagen Monster in US version)

The first one roughly translates to how it all began like karpo said i just checked...so maybe the epic begins might be another one?

edit: um...it kinda translates to "the turtles at the peak" :-? (I'm guessing that's "sky turtles")
Second line translates to "the end of the world", dunno which ep that might be.
Now i'll try to translate the third line...no i think i wont, that's enough software translating then guessing what the real title might be for a day :p

TMost of those are wrong deathknight. I just read the episdoe names from the covers and They are indeed those episodes that were on Vhs. Every DVD has 3 episodes, I can't remember the all and those swedish episdoe names are odd. I could however transalate that 2:nd one has Case of killer pizzas and enter the fly.

Yeah the VHS sold here had the episodes in really weird order. And those DVD's have all 3 epidoes in them.

This is just sad...who would have thought the tmnt would be more popular in Sweden, it just makes no sense. America always gets the crappiest dvds and everything, but those don't look like they have features or anything really special, there not even seasons. I hope we learn from the Swedes that TMNT is still alive and we get some dvds soon, in a nice collector's edition hopefully, :lol:

I really can't stand the swedes getting the cartoon on DVD before the USA. Not that i have a problem with the Swedes it just makes me extremely jealous. It's just not fair. My whole life I've loved the turtles, especially the toon, because that was the thing that got me hooked. And american takes time to put stupid stuff like Mash on DVD but hasn't put the greatest cartoon of all time. All I have to say is God bless the swedes for having their priorities in order.

*high fives the Swedes* :) I must agree. People here in america anxiously await their new WWF DVD box set to arrive in a store near them. VERY VERY frustrating. I think we've all forgotten how important the Ninja Turtles are to the video game generation. VERY IMPORTANT (in case you forgot)

Join the club duke, i dont think the tmnt dvds are out in argentina, not even the movie ones...but i got my divx ones which will be more than enough 'till they come out here if they even come :)

Sorry dude, I meant the video game generation because everyone born around 1980 was raised with video games (hence-videogame generation) I wasnt referring to the videogames in particular.

The DVDs had better come soon, or I think everyone in this forum should riot ;)

I do have a majority of the episodes off the computer and am working to get the rest but i would just rather have them on DVD. The quality has to be 100 times better. Besides I'm praying that there will be atleast have a few special features but even if they don't it doesn't matter. Even though the DVD of Dumb and Dumber doesn't have any real special features I still bought it even though i already had it on VHS.

Yeah the dvds are better quality so even if they have no extras i guess i'd get it, but since i have no home dvd player, only a pc one that plays movies very slow, i dont really have much use for them (and they're a different region than argentina anyways so i doubt i'd use it) that's why i don't care too much if they come out or not, but if they do, all the better of course :D

Well thos DVD's aren't better quality, they are VHS coversions. Audio is Swedish mono, so really nobody should be jealous.

Not that I'm so interested in buying them though. Since 1: It's dubbed, and 2: If I remember it correctly, it isn't the full first season on the first DVD. Just three episodes, or so...


Edit: After looking at the info about it: The language choices are Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish and Danish. It's 74 minutes (is that 4 episodes?). It was realeased October 28th. Recommended from 7 years. Costumers rating = 4,1/5 from 17 votes, so far... 99 kr (around $11)

How it all Began is a larger TMNT ep - it runs almost for an hour, it was only released in Europe on VHS I think... shows everything before the mutations and such. I have it. :)

How it all began is edited version of the first season. And it doesn't have episode 3 in it. all the other episodes are cut somewhat.

Sparvid, is the audio finnish or does it have subtitles? My swedish isn't really that good...

Probaböy not, it is just a VHS conversion with dubbed mono track. But it has one in Finnish! Ahh the memories! I used to own all those VHS and remember many of the lines. Now I just find the dubbed episodes funny.

Man, I agree; It is a shame when the company does bad dubs, but it is sure as hell funny watching them. I experience this sometimes with anime, lol. But hey, it really is tough to convert into your language in a way that is truly understanding, so sometimes I don't blame them..

Yea, that's true, plus no where near the complete seasons. Just wondering, has it been trouble picking up some of the American jokes for those of you who live outside of U.S? How do they convert the catch phrases? Do they make a new word for you guys too? I find learning how countries react with material from another country fascinating! :wink:

They used Cowanbunga in here, as for the others "Turtle Power!" was "Kilpikonna voimaa!" can't remember other ones. I think they made some new jokes, but it is so long when I last saw the dubbed versions..

Yeah we have to study english ain school from the third grade. Well English has never been a difficult language for me, But we also have to learn swedish. Thats causing me some problems...
