Anyone here play or used to play Magic the Gathering? If so, tell me how you got started.

As for me; I started in the beginning of '95 and the Ice Age rush had began. I hung out with my friend who lived down the street and he used to give me a magic card everytime I walked him home (It does sound a bit wierd, but if you knew the people who lived near us, it was pretty freaky at night) Anyway, I had no idea what these cards were for so I just took em cuz they looked cool. Soon after I got like 20 some odd cards he started to teach me how to play. At first I really had no money to buy cards and had little interest, then I went to a summer camp and so many people played there having tournaments and stuff, I was just watching people play and was like, I have these cards! So I figured out where to buy them, bought a few packs and starter decks and got into it, I kinda taught myself in a way. You wouldn't believe how bad I feel today that I was ripped off back then, that's why I became nice to people learning the game. I quit about a year and a half ago.

I have one starters kit for MTG. Two small decks that came with a step-by-step starter game, rule book, and those stat sheets. I had fun playing with my brother for awhile. I never got super into it, no one else I knew played. And I still know no one who plays, around here anyway. I tried giving them to my brothers to use, but they lost several parts and I was forced to take them back.

They're now sitting in my closet, collecting dust until I decide what to do with them.

Heh, that's too bad you can't find anyone to play. If you have the money, you can play magic online, which is a the game, but you buy digital cards and millions of people all across the world use it, I don't have it, because I am pretty poor right now, but I hope to get it sometime..
