I so love doing this.. :D

GREETINGS, one and All!

As I mentioned in our last teaser, with the episodes being shown out of order, it almost seemed as though we were missing an important ep. But fear not, my friends! For they are indeed showing it this very weekend!

We remember how Mike was after his big victory… no matter how much some of us try to forget. :P

“I am the BATTLE NEXUS CHAMPION! Nobody can defeat the BATTLE NEXUS CHAMPION! Make Way for the BATTLE NEXUS CHAMPION! Dibs on the shower, for I am the BATTLE NEXUS CHAMPION! ”

And so on…

I’m sure you can imagine the first few weeks after the competition. The Trophy sitting on the kitchen table, Mike wearing the laurel everywhere. In practice, in the lair, in the Shower… yeah. Just a teeny bit overboard. Fortunately, the newness of the championship wore off, and they soon resumed the usual sibling abuse (or maybe increased it just cuz they could). That or Splinter gave Mike a lil talk about tooting his own horn so much. I mean, even Splinter hid his championship status from the boys…

Now, keep in mind, this was all before the mess with the Ultimate Ninja/Draco and the multi-dimensional trips. I’m sure after dealing with that, the majority of the clan preferred not to hear about what was going on there: The slightly senile Daimyo, the new Ultimate Pre-teen. Some very strong emotional memories were made in that place.

But now a new ordeal emerges. A BIG ANGRY one. Kluh, the famous Hulk Hogan look-alike (come on, KLUH-HULK.. isn’t it obvious?) from the Battle Nexus has come to Earth (is that other dude his DAD?! I’d hate to find out that Kluh’s only a teenageer at his size. He’s been eating his wheaties, that’s all I can say), to seek out the champ and take back what was rightfully his.

So, old champ, new challenge, rematch in only Days… Can you say….ROCKY?!

Just imagine… you hear the cheesy montage in the background. Apol-Leo runs the poor boy RAGGED. Rooftop runs, beating up beef carcasses in the Meat locker at the local butcher shop, running to the top of the steps and singing “Eye of the Tiger”!

…ok, maybe not. At least “Kluh” is a better name than “Thunderlips” :P

The Battle Nexus Championship Rematch.

*blinks* Dude, that’s a long title.. are we in the Big brawl, or the WWE?

You can just imagine the kinda Commentary that could take place with this kinda giant match. Or the Interviews…!

Raph: [Michelangelo] flunked out of school, twice.
Interviewer: Is that so?
Raph: Yeah. Beethoven was deaf. Helen Keller was blind. I think [Mikey's] got a good chance.

Interviewer: Do you have anything you’d like to say to your opponent before the big fight?
Kluh: *grabs the mic, talking into the camera* Listen here, Brother, I’m—

Ok, no more of that… :embarassed:

Now, we all love (or love to hate) Mike. We all want him to win, right? I know I do! My only worry when Mike finally gets to the ring with the giant Hulk Hogan Alien..

Leo: [just before the big fight] I'll be here waiting for you.
Mikey: How 'bout I stay here and you fight?

I’m sure Mike’ll do fine…

Interviewer: What's your prediction for the fight?
Kluh’s teacher/dad/whoever the old dude was: My prediction?
Interviewer: Yes, your prediction.
Klu’s elder dude: *looks into the camera* Pain!

…Really….

Mike: I see three of him out there.
Leo: Hit the one in the middle.
Raph: Right! Hit the one in the middle.

Um.. well.. we’ll see.

Oh boy… um, ok now for the big questions…

WILL MIKE BE READY FOR THE REMATCH?!
WILL KLUH DISH OUT SOME HUMILITY WITH A SIDE OF DAY-GLO ORANGE PAIN?!
COULD MIKE BEAR THE AGONY OF LOSING HIS TITLE TO A GUY THAT REMINDS YOU OF THIS?!

Awsome episode! The pizza line was priceless. I guess angry Leo does have his advantages. So many half decent one liners it's hard to go through them all. Little UN was touching and seeing Mike beat up Kluh was satisfying. Overall a very solid episode, one that solves so many continuity errors. Why didn't they show this before?

Awesome episode! I totally loved it! The training session was interesting. They looked so serious, but Leo was so intense! He just wanted more! It looks like Splinter may soon have a private talk with Leo soon. Mikey watching TV through the window... Cute! ^_^
Mikey was just so adorable through out the episode.
I liked it that Leo and Mikey were spending time with each other. Even if it was just for training. We don't see those two hangout often. I loved it when they climed up that mountain and Leo is giving Mikey a serious and motivated speech, and Mikey with a serious tone is like "Maybe Leo, just maybe... I can still forfeit. *thumbs up* LOL!

Splinter totally cracked me up! What a wise guy! I love seeing the amusing side of him because he has such a great dry sense of humour.

I found it hilarious how Raph and Donnie kept scaring Mikey like that.

The rematch battle was AWESOME! :o
Mikey was getting thrashed for a while, but after remembering the strong words from Leo, he totally kicked butt! Hell yes! Mikey was so intense and focused! He was unbeatable at that point. :D

Little Ve-Sama was is so cute. His interactions with Leo was adorable. :anime:

Very awesome episode. :D

I guess angry Leo does have his advantages.

I wouldn't say he's angry. Just really, REALLY intense. He's actually kinda like the dark Batman.

Little Ve-Sama was very cute. And he seemed to get through a lil bit of that tough Leo exterior. :anime:

I almost felt SORRY for Mike, after the announcement by the Gyogi. I thought at lest Splinter would be somewhat supportive, but they All wanted to see Mike get his tail kicked! I'll give Leo brownie points for trying to help Mike. ;)

I KNEW that giant guy with Kluh was his dad. I Swear they do more father-son stuff in this carto--*ahem* I mean Animated Series than in any other show I've seen. I love it! :D :D :D

The fighting animation was Beautiful. Very fluid, very skillful. It makes me wanna get back into my martial arts stuff again.

I was So proud of Mike at the end. :D Even Splinter gave an approving smile. And Leo even looked surprised when Mike said Thanks. I wanted to see a hug in this somewhere, but I guess I'll have to wait.. :P

Yeah! That kinda surprised me. I thought Leo was just going to turn around and walk away from the kid without saying a word.

Yeah, I thought it was nice to see Leo help Mikey when there was no one else to support him. But I don't think Leo trained Mikey just so he could win the tournament. I think Leo trained Mikey to get him to focus and become better not only for the tournament, but for future events.
I think Leo kinda foresaw what was going to happen... Like he had a hunch.

I Swear they do more father-son stuff in this carto--*ahem* I mean Animated Series than in any other show I've seen.

Lol! I guess you read that post of mine... heh :tanime:

Oh, and I like to add that the fight between Leo and those barbarians must have been awesome! I so wish we got to see it. Er... Do you think he may have killed them? o_o

10-22-2005, 09:13 AM
The way Leo is right now, I wouldnt be surprised if he actually injured them.. killing, I dunno. the safety laws in the battle nexus probly made the guys disappear to the infirmary.

That was an awesome match up. It was nice to see them get back to the Battle Nexus even if it was for a little while. :) And yes seeing little Ve there was pretty nice. He's so cute! I did notice how he did get to Leo a little bit though I wonder if he'll be a future annoyance for him when he grows up again...in about 10-15 years. :P

Nice rematch with Michaelangelo and Kluh (Hulk again). Ah but damn, guess he's doing the NWO sort of thing and becoming a heel. I actually thought he was one of the good guys. :| I mean he went off with the Triceratons to help them. Yet now we see his true colors. I'm wondering if he only helped because he knew there would glory to be had there. :| Guess that's why we didn't see Traximus in this maybe Kluh told him what he was going to do to Michaelangelo and he didn't go because he didn't agree. Or...he was too busy helping with the restructuring of the Triceraton government.

Oh and his father Mozgog is no better...he's actually worse. Trying to get Michaelangelo killed and holding the Daiymo's son for hostage! Grrr! :x I hope they lock them up in the dungeon and throw away the key.

Anybody else notice the Levrons seem to have the ability to breathe Triceraton air and regular air. Aska would you care to provide screens? :D LOL In Alien Invasion 3 (or is it 4) we see him in the Triceraton Resistance with that little mute (telepathic?) alien girl. And then next we see him on Earth breathing normal air and kicking Mike's tail no less.

Oh the Gyoji?! WTH! How did he come back? Wasn't he um...well absorbed by Ultimate Drako?

The way Leo is right now, I wouldnt be surprised if he actually injured them.. killing, I dunno. the safety laws in the battle nexus probly made the guys disappear to the infirmary.

Ah but remember that wizard put up that spell that disippated that particular power. Would be a touch ironic but yeah they might a been killed.

You guys are forgetting to mention the fact the toy lines are starting to be supported by the show and not just as variants.

I'm meaning in particular, that at the end of the episode the turtles were wearing their gear from the Battle Nexus toyline. I guess that's the toyline I speak of.

*jaw drops...*

Wow. I didn't expect this to be as awesome as it was, especially considering that last week's ep was good. But this... the characters, the animation... Excuse me whilst I go on a rant.

OK, first off. The episode opened with the TMNT training, and I was immediately floored. The animation was excellent! Just the motions and the... *drools* Awesome stuff.

Next thing I really enjoyed was they're getting closer to dealing with Leo's issues. Raph actually confronted him verbally, and the only reason Leo wasn't forced to deal with it was Splinter's intervention ("We will discuss this later") and, of course, giant purple guys popping out of the air.
> I know this ep is aired out of order, so it doesn't necessarily count as getting "closer"... but I did like that Raph's getting sick of it.

Splinter's pizza comment almost had me on the floor. I love that ol' rat so much... *grin* Interesting that he also refused to help Mikey, but likely there was an intended humility lesson in it. We have no idea how the day-to-day annoyances of Mikey's ego were. :dead:

That said, I'm glad Leo agreed to help, and that hug from Mikey was adorable. I find Leo/Mikey interactions to be interesting because they're so different... and because they're the two I identify with most (Leo more, but yeh) I also liked watching our turtle in orange focus himself once it got down to business. See Mikey... you don't have to freak out! You can handle things!

The fighting was great, the animation fluid... only shot I really didn't like was that weird Mikey expression where he opened his mouth and stuck his tongue out while taking Kluh out... like he was trying to turn his face inside out. Oh well, if that's all I can complain about... :D

EDIT: Yeah, I did notice that, X. I was like "huh, if they haven't made toys for that already, they are probably aiming to now..." Those outfits were kinda schweet, even though I personally think the guys look weird in clothes.

Oh, great. EVERY time I miss an episode, it jus HAS to be beautifully animated. I almost feel like crying, right now.

But someone answer me this, was it the same fluid style as City at War, part two or the extremely detailed style of Reflections?

Good gooood episode!

The little Damiyou's son was SO so cute! I squealed and accidentally woke up my roomie when he asked Leo if he'd be his friend. But oh man, that was just ADORABLE! *cuddles lil' Ve-chan* I must draw him now. A lot of him. With eyebrows. >.>

I think now the only thing that could make Kluh more humorous to me is if he went around calling everyone 'brother'. *cough* Mikey whooped him but GOOD though! He really CAN fight! Just needs to be motivated. I guess having his life on the line is a good motivator. ^^

And Mikey/Leo interaction...I loved that. And Leo's line 'In this world all we have is each other. If one of us goes down, we all do...' Just about the best line I've ever heard. I sense much fanart coming from that line. Yep. It was just too cute.

Anyhoo, I'm off to go watch this episode again! Ja mata ne! ^^

WAIT. Forgot something.

Those outfits...

Okay...now I'm gonna go watch it again.

Nice....Had Raph and Donnie known of Kluh's plans, they wouldn't have messed with Mike. Good to see Leo and Mikey having a brother moment. And Leo's reaction to the UN might help him come to terms with the fact that people can change...maybe even Karai (but probably not)
I'll see about pulling screen caps from my cap....any requests, besides Baby Ve-sama?

I loved this ep!!! I thought his name was Klaw??? Bah..I need to have closed captioning on when I watch this show.

Kluh eh? Hrm...If I had known he was the Hulk I would have rooted for him since Im an original Hulkamaniac.

Seriously tho...some of my fave moments:

Ve-Sama telling Leo "Lets be friends!" awww...good thing he doesn't remember. :D

Splinter's extremely sarcastic pizza line...mmmm Pepperoni and Kharma...

The fact that in the end they wore the Ninja Knights outfits...

Killer episode. Not just the best Mikey episode, but IMO one of the best of the series. When Mikey was kicking Kluh's ass, I was up cheering for him.

Also, nice job to the animators fitting those BattleNexus Armor Turtle toys into the show.

Maybe some of Kluh and his father Mo...Moz (oh you know Moe  ). But those aren't that important. What I'd like to see (and probably pretty much everyone here are those moments up in the mountains when Leo had that intense look and said that "We only have each other..." line, especially the closeup of his eyes when he said it. And possibly that shot of him being hugged by Michaelangelo. Is his shell hurt that much where it brings him pain if someone touches it? Or was that just well...Mr. Big Tough Leo who doesn't like hugs anymore? :-?

Oh Man!!!! What An Episode, Where Do I Begin?

The Training With "master" Leo Was Incredible. It Was So Perfectly Intense. When Raph Threw His Sai And Donny Tried To Jump On Him, I Was Like Omg!!! I Love Stuff Like That From The Turtles. And The Beauty Of It All Is That We Often Dont Get Moments Like This, So When We Do, Its Mighty Special. (any One Remember The Training Scene In "A Better Mouse Trap", When Splinter Kicked All The Turtles Ass?) It Was Interesting To See Raphs Annoyance With Leos Attitude And See Splinter Mention A Future Conversation About It. Did Anyone Else Find It Funny When Raph Referred To Leo As "mister Intensity" And His Training As "war Games"? Lol, I Did.

Quick Side Note: After Seeing Mikey Watching The Silver Sentry Cartoon, I Thought; Wouldn't It Be Cool To Have A Silver Sentry Toon Air On Fox (same Animators Etc.) And On That Note ; A Solo Yusagi Toon As well.

The 1st Thing I Noticed When I Logged In Today Was That The 1st 12 Votes Were Casted For The Splinter Joke. That Was So Classic. I Love His Sarcasm.

How About Mikey Standing In front Of His Statue? That Was Awesome.

Cool To See That Leo Is Teaching Mike Everything He Has Realized After The "exodus". It Turned Out As A Huge Help For Mikey And Probably Won Him The Rematch.

They Probably Didn't Show The Leo Fight Because Focus Wanted To Be Left On Mikey And Not Leo Again As Much.

The Fight..The Fight...The Fight. Mikey Got Smashed!!! I Know Those Heavy Mikey Fans Were Cringing When Mikey Was Getting Punched Against The Force Field. I Was Shocked. It Was So Well Animated (but Yet I Expected Top Notch Animation, Since The Entire Battle Nexus Saga Is Top Notch As Well). Who Saw Mikey Use His Nun-chucks (i Have No Idea How To Spell This) With His Feet To Hit Kluh? I Was Impressed. And When Mikey Kicked Himself Away From Kluh And Swung His Chucks In Ready Mode, It Remined Me Of Neo When He Discovered He Was The "one" In The Matrix. It Was Crazy When Mikey Jump Kicked Through Kluh's Spear And Into His Chest , To Defeat Him.

I Loved The Episode, Again Like Last Weeks "I,monster" This Is A 10x Repeater. As Soon As It Was Over, I Re winded And Watched Again.

Can Anyone Post A Screen Cap Of The Drawing Of Mikey On Kluh's Practicing Wooded Punching Bag (the One He Cut In Two). I Want To Make Limited Edition Avatars From That Drawing. The Quality Isnt Important. All I Basically Need Is The Outline.

The episode was awsome, kinda like seeing Leo against Ultimate Ninja only this time it's Mikey against Kla.

And the whole episode was like seeing Hulk Hogan making a cameo i nthe episode.

I recognize some of the warriors from the first Nexus Epsiodes.

And I laugh with the whole Battle Nexus joke. Tortering Muikey with stuff he'd like to do.

Little Daimo Jr. is now an innocent child. Luckily he doesn't remenber his first fight with Leo nor his team up of Drako. Which good cause he's no longer an a**hole to his own father.

And now Mikey won't stop talking about this one, since now he has a trophy and a medal to brag about.

Next week is the first Halloween episode!

I wanna quote leo before I post these pics....
"I brought you up here to clear your mind, Mikey. Focus on what's important."
Mikey: Like going home?
"No, like pushing yourself beyond your limits, to a place where there are no limits. To be so focused, so ready, nothing and noone(emphesis mine) will ever catch you off guard again!"
And that my friends if the reasoning for "New" Leo...in his own words.

Go Mikey!! I knew he could do that, they just don't let him! ;)

My typical "snap out of it, Leo!" moment at the beginning of the ep. "Thank you, Splinter, for TALKING SOME SENSE into that guy!"

I was surprised Ve remembered anything.

This is the second time (that I know of) that they've used one of the better action figure designs for character designs (at the end, the robes). Looked very nice. I'm still trying to look up the kanji on those (couldn't see the characters very well in the pics I have). Don's says something about "genius", I got that much at least. :D Maybe it'll be easier now that they're on the show. I'll try to find post some stuff on that in a little while.

I thought they said "Claw". Guess not. I'm having problems with my closed captioning on the capture card (probably just need to reboot, but I can't right now), so I can't check that, not that it's all that reliable anyway..

Did they forget that Levrons (is that it?) can shrink? When Mike first met Kluh (I guess that's his name), he was a little guy, and then he grew into his current form. I always thought that was pretty interesting. Probably not very useful to this ep, though.

Mike saying "Uh, are we still talking about me?"; it was supposed to be funny, but it was definitely pretty much on target. Leo was talking about himself, and how he feels right now. I don't think he's right, though. About each other being all they have.

Raph talking to Leo about "this attitude of yours"... isn't role-reversal great? They should do it more often. ;)

Oh the Gyoji?! WTH! How did he come back? Wasn't he um...well absorbed by Ultimate Drako? :sick:Yeah, I did a double-take at the gyoji... "Aren't you kinda... dead?" I guess not. He's kind of a strange entity, anyway, maybe you can't really kill him.

OK, first off. The episode opened with the TMNT training, and I was immediately floored. The animation was excellent! Just the motions and the... *drools* Awesome stuff.LOL, yeah, me too. I think I took fifteen minutes to watch that, I kept rewinding to see the sequences again.. ;)

That said, I'm glad Leo agreed to help, and that hug from Mikey was adorable.Even though the colorist(s) got confused, and colored Mike's arm around Leo's neck in Leo's skin tone. :p

The fighting was great, the animation fluid... only shot I really didn't like was that weird Mikey expression where he opened his mouth and stuck his tongue out while taking Kluh out... like he was trying to turn his face inside out.
*nods* I was kinda perplexed by that, the rest of the ep is animated so well, what happened there? :-?

I guess having his life on the line is a good motivator. ^^
I think it was more of the threat of having his family's life on the line. He seemed about ready to give up, otherwise. Kind of alarming. :ohwell:

And Leo's reaction to the UN might help him come to terms with the fact that people can change...maybe even Karai (but probably not)*winces* Must.. not.. speak. ;)

I could tell that this was a great episode, even though I was chatting on the phone with my friend at the same time. (I’ve got it recorded, and I’ll rewatch it later.) So I don’t have a big, long review. I think everyone’s said everything already anyway. And I agree!

And there were several points when my friend had to ask what I was laughing at/silent about. This really was a great mixture of action, character work, and humor. Ve-sama was SO adorable. And that armor was awesome, I’m gonna need some shots of that.

This episode made me excited for the season all over again. It is nice to see the bond of a family despite the fact they are all sick of of Mikey's arrogance of his win and his disinterest in training.
Leo really stepped up. He opened up to April in Sons of the silent age and now again somewhat to Mikey. I had to laugh at the line Mikey had after Leo gave him that speech on the hill top. "We still talking about me here?
Unfortunately I had to run out just after the episode was over so all the great points about today were already made.(How dare work conflict with TMNT!)
The way it opened really threw me. Before it was revealed as a training session I honestly thought there was a major confrontation between the bros.because of all the setup with Leo's new Attitude.
Mikey really is to cute. I think they play up his personality so well.
The whole dialogue after they find Mikey watching TV was really enjoyable.
Raph's line about Leo "Mr. intensity's little war games" and all the talk about the things Mikey had done with that trophy like putting it on the TV and making a knecklace. He tried but the chain would break:lol:
Ironic how that conversation led into another battle nexus journey. :P
Poor Mikey was banging his head on the wall, you gotta feel a little bad for him.
The animation during the fight was incredible and I did notice that akward mouth position. I think they just exagerated a little too much
Anyway this was definitely an episode to talk about.
On to the Halloween epsisode which I love! For some reason it keeps reminding me of the Ghostbuster's special from way back.
***Off to watch today's episode again :D ****

Awesome, awesome episode, I strongly agree with everything that has been said. However I could feel the writers' stress trying to fit this all into one episode, the pacing kind of got a little frantic, going back and forth between NYC and the Battle Nexus, basically connecting all the dots of the plot. This episode could have even even been extended into two. Oh well, it was still really good, I really appreciated the focus on Mikey and Leo. :D

am i the only one who was annoyed w/ splinter in this ep? 1st he stops the broaching of the subject we know the family has to talk about. raph & leo were finally going to talk about it, leo was about to say something, & before we could hear a word from leo's lips, splinter interupts w/ the obvious. yes splinter, we know that you all have to talk w/ leo, that's what was about to happen! well, i suppose he thought that raph & leo would get into a physical fight, & maybe they would've, but he could have at least let us see how leo was going to react before he intervened! ah well...

also, i was kinda disgusted at splinter's (& raph's & don's, but i'm focusing on splinter's) refusal to help mikey. yeah, so mikey was goofing off, so what? as mikey's father & teacher splinter should've at least given mikey a serious talk explaining why, making mikey feel guilty, & then helping mikey to train. i mean, training's what they all want him to do, so when he's finally going to do it, they don't simply refuse, but make fun of him. splinter was almost cruel!

this ep made my heart go out to leo even more (& mikey too) but so much for my hopes for raph. grrr, i'm mad at him. how many times did he hit mikey in this one? or express pleasure at the idea of mikey being pummled? for a guy who really does love & is overprotective of his bros, he's got an odd way of showing it. it's like he's becoming a characature. people who love their bro's don't really enjoy seeing them in pain, do they? & i was so proud of his "if leo gets in trouble i'm the 1st one in there, but rt now it looks like he's got more than one monster to work out of his system" line. sigh, now i understand what leo's problem is "when all we've got is each other..." (aww!), but i just don't get raph.

i really did enjoy leo's little speech/character insight. he finally said what we all know he feels about his bros...i just hope he remembers that he's one of them, & if he goes down in some insane urge to kill off all guys labeled "bad," then the rest of them will still go down...not that they would ever kill leo off or anything, but still. i wonder if mikey will tell to others what leo said? it'd be cool if there's an ep where they're all talking about leo, trying to get into his head to figure out how to help him. wow, i've got waaay too much emotional attachment in what happens to these guys.

Unfortunately, that's the question of the year

The most likely time he got it (if you only pay attention to the script) is in Exodus pt. 2 or Dragon's Brew. But if it's the latter, that means they used the wrong model sheets for the first several epsiodes of the series. Plus it was a dumb thing to make a permanent design change over. Worse has happened to the guys and they haven't changed anything. So... :-?

I Dont Think That Ultimately Splinter Was Not Going To Train Mikey. Splinter Was Feeding Mike Some Of His Own Medison. Just A Couple Of Minutes Ago Mikey Was Refuseing To Train, And Then Kluh Appears And Lays It On Him And Suddenly He Wants To Train. This Is What Splinter Has Been Trying To Tell Mikey His Whole Life. Train So That You Can Be Prepared For Anything, Not Train When You Know Something Is Comeing.as Far As Don And Raphs Refusal, They Are Not Obligated And They Know That Mikey Is A Ninja And The Injuries He May Incur Are Relative To What We May Call Severe. So To Them Its Worth Haveing Mikey Loss Just So He Cant Brag. Which Has Probably Been Bothering Them For The Last Year And A Half Or So.

Okay. With the action figures, the inscriptions each say something different. Unfortunately, the plates are metallic gold, so they're pretty hard to photo, and I've never seen one of these in person. It's hard to match characters if you can't see them well. I don't know anything about Japanese other than what I've taught myself through the internet (but I'm a research freak, and I have learned a lot); usually I just try to match up characters ("okay, I'm looking for the one that looks like a ladder next to a tree", LOL). There's a site that groups the ones similar in appearance, so it's usually actually not so hard to search through the thousands of characters as you would think.

I'm pretty sure Mike's says "best fighter", more or less. Don's says something about "genius" (and "heavenly" or "imperial", or "sky", but I guess it's some kind of idiom or something. It doesn't make much sense literally). I can't even figure out what Raph's glyph is, much less what it says, and I can find the characters on Leo's easily enough, but what I get doesn't make much sense either. For the show, they took Leo's inscription and put it on all of them. Of course they picked that one, 'cause I can't understand it. :p

(Look! Leo's smiling! Somebody get it on camera! ;))

This is why it gets weird:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y73/Zakiyah/inscription.jpg

Why on earth did they use the word for "husband" instead of "man" (no comments from the more rabid fangirls please ;))? It can be used to mean "man" (or "person"), but usually the other form is used. That word is in kanji, the pictographic alphabet, so it's easily looked up in a dictionary. The other ones are katakana, so they're phonetic, and good luck trying to figure out just which word it is, if you don't know Japanese. The little mark in front of the "ka" doesn't mean anything, while the 'I'-ish symbol on the action figure does... I'm guessing they just approximated the look for the show, and didn't actually try to spell anything?

"Eka" on the figure, or "ka" on the show. What's that mean? The only word I can find that sounds like "eka" is "artist"/"painter". I guess if you really stretch the imagination, you could say it means "martial artist", but that's pushing it. Maybe a really (really) obscure reference to their names? If it's just "ka", there's a million words it could be (one cracks me up, the whole phrase would be "good husband", like they're advertising to eligible single gals, LOL!) I dunno... anybody have a good Japanese vocabulary out there who can help me out?

On to the Halloween epsisode which I love! For some reason it keeps reminding me of the Ghostbuster's special from way back.At least superficially, it reminded me of Gargoyle's "Eye of the Beholder" (getting to walk out in the open because people think they're in costume). As long as there are no metamorphosing fiancees in this one... ;)

Can someone please explain to me why does Leo have one piece of his shell missing?

I keep notcing it a lot but not sure how he got it.

Which are the only Season 4 epsiodes I haven't seenNo, it either happened in "Exodus", or there's been an error and it happened in "Dragon's Brew", even though he'd had the gouge before that ep. See the past episode-discussion threads for more debate on that, if you want to wade through all the posts. :)

So... You know, I hadn't thought of it that way. Why did they bother, at all? I'm thinking the gouge is symbolic of his current mood, and, like the mood, it'll go away eventually. But it is kind of risky to carry a model change over that many episodes... it sounds like someone must have thought it was worth it, maybe because of symbolism, after all... which would probably mean he did get it in Exodus, cuz he was moody several eps before "Dragon's Brew", also, and that's actually in the script. And I still don't want to think they'd goof that bad. I just wish they'd been a little less obscure about how he got it.

This episode was better than I expected. The fights were enjoyable and so was the humor. I gotta give Mikey props for fightin' a dude that was tougher than him. Leo really knew how to take the place of Splinter for personal tranin'. I guess that's what spendin' too much time with a ninjitsu master will do to you. I'm gald that Leo was humble and respectful of Mikey. He didn't wanna put him down or mock him like his brothers did. Kluh's dad was a knave cuz he changed things around and made things worse for the combatants. I didn't expect to see Mikey and Kluh fight in the Battle Nexus arena. Mikey fought with honor and he didn't finish Kluh like he was supposed to. I liked that part when Michelangelo was on that fire escape and he say Silver Sentry on the television and remarked: "Best show ever." I would watch that show if it was on the air. I'm sure it would just as enjoyable as Ninja Turtles. I didn't think Ve-Sama or his father would show up but the writer always manages to suprise the viewers. I liked to end. Nice to see the boys in their Battle Nexus armor. I give this episode a five out of five.

Leonardo Mystic
10-22-2005, 06:55 PM
I enjoyed this episode. I especially loved the "awww!" moment between Leo and Ve-Sama. That was so sweet.

Little Ve-Sama was very cute. And he seemed to get through a lil bit of that tough Leo exterior. :anime:

Yeah! That kinda surprised me. I thought Leo was just going to turn around and walk away from the kid without saying a word.

Why does that surprise you, Ryona? Leo has not turned completely heartless, he's just... lost; lost in a sea of turmoil.

In case you did not notice, he appears to be very fond of children. We see this in the "Christmas Aliens" when he's cuddling the little orphan boy in his arms. Ve in his child state was able to touch Leonardo's heart in a place where so much anger and agony has resided lately, and for a few glorious moments, Leo is himself again. He was very sweet to Ve.

And I want to bring this up from another thread, as it's more appropriate here.

Awesome new sig, Leonardo Mystic! Leo's damn sexy with his dark presence.

I don't find him sexy at all in his current state, and it literally just tears my heart to pieces to see him this way.

Why? I find the direction of character developement for him very interesting.

I love the original Leo, but he was so stereo-typed as being the perfect, honorable one. He became so predictable and and dare I say, kinda bland. This new take on him is a total curve ball! It's a wild ride, and as a Leo fan, I'm loving it. I do hope that he will eventuallly be his old self again, but I do hope that some of that darkness will stay with him.

I'm all for character development, but not when the fact Leo is literally destroying himself from the inside out. You like to see him suffer; tear himself apart? I get no enjoyment out of this whatsoever.

How was he perfect? He was not perfect before, and I've never seen him that way. He's made plenty of mistakes throughout the earlier seasons. I mean, geez, he stepped on a landmine in "Hunted" that could have blown them to bits, and he nearly joined Oroku Saki and the Foot in "Shredder Strikes", just to name a couple of examples. Does that seem "perfect" to you?

And what do you mean by "bland?" That he was predictable? Maybe in a few ways, but not all. He could surprise me lots of times with things I'd never thought he'd do/say, and I happen to read him very well. "City At War" is a fine example.

I'll admit it, I'm just like Leo in this department of perfection. Everytime I make a mistake, I beat myself over it. I'm beating myself up over my car accident, and that's a very big mistake. I know I'm not perfect, and gradually I'm letting this go because it's not going to help me to brood endlessly over it. I can't change what happened, and I'll drive myself insane if I keep dwelling on it. I have to move on. That's Leo's problem right now. He can't let it go, so he can't move on with his life, and it's unhealthy for him and the rest of the family. He's slowly pushing himself towards the edge, and it's a delicate balance. I don't want this darkness to stay. He'll always be battling for control.

Leonardo is a gentle, caring, and kind person. Before he would have never attacked a person who wasn't fighting back, and was in obvious distress (I, Monster), or be the first to jump into a fray with this sadistic expression on his face. He would have had more control than that. He has become more of a stick in the mud now than he ever was. He just kills the fun. He's too serious. He doesn't laugh or smile anymore, and when he does smile, it's not "real". It doesn't have the intensity and charm behind it like it used to. It's more of a grimace. I miss his smile so much; I miss Leo. :tcry:

Although I have to admit, when the guys (And Splinter) started to torment Mike about going to the back to the Nexus, I was spent.

VE-SAMA!!!

Ve: "Did we use to play together?"
Leo: :o Uh, yeah....yeah, we did!

Must...not...ROFL!!! *rofls with bits of snickers thrown in*

Turtle-Man...maybe. A lot of words have more than one meaning. Ka is the first half of the Japanese word for turtle -- Kame. Though when I watched the Ka seemed to be backwards. Of course, it may be the Katakana spelling, which I've learned absolutely nothing about yet.

But yeah, my uneducated, 7 years of anime and 7 weeks into a Japanese class guess would be that the kanji are trying to mean 'Turtle-Man'. I could of course be wrong though. o.o;

As for what their armor says on the actual TV show...I really have no idea why it looks so different, unless it's some sort of exception (like how the hiragana "ki" is always written differently by hand) I'd have to guess you're right about them just being lazy. :P

Raph needs to check himself. Saying when he attacks he really gonna attack Leo for real during training and practice. Get out of here. he cant even take on Mikey, who is the class clown of the group. What makes his stupid @ss think he can take on Leo?

Looks like I wasn't the only one that thought that. When Mikey got the medal, it reminded me of the end of A New Hope when Luke and the gang got 'em. I don't see how the uniforms referenced the movie but I guess that's just me. It's always nice to see the writer of a particular episode put in an Easter egg to suprise the fans. I especially liked that Army of Darkness/The Day the Earth Still reference on the episode The People's Choice.

You guys are forgetting to mention the fact the toy lines are starting to be supported by the show and not just as variants.

I'm meaning in particular, that at the end of the episode the turtles were wearing their gear from the Battle Nexus toyline. I guess that's the toyline I speak of.

-X-Yes I certainly noticed this, and boy was I happy. These Battle Nexus figures came out awhile ago, so Playmates knew way back then about this episode. Up until this episode, I was annoyed at just another batch of non show-accurate Turtles. Not now, though. I'm pleased to say these figures came right from the show, or vice versa. Very enjoyable ep!! Glad to see Mikey stand up and kick some major butt. This was even more impressive considering the major beating he took before he took over. To have that kind of stamina and heart says alot about him. Also, confirms the true natural athletic and fighting abilites that he has that if he buckled down a bit more, imo he could truly distance himself from the others as the greatest fighter. Bravo! :)

LOL, the Eye of Odin, it wasn't. :p

Of course, it may be the Katakana spelling, which I've learned absolutely nothing about yet.I thought of that, with 'kame'... but the word's a single kanji, and so it can't really be split into 'ka' and 'me' like that.

The kanji on the Leo figure means, "kung fu". It really means just any sort of martial art, and not just kung fu though. The first part of the kanji (the one that looks like 'ka' with a tiny 'e' in front) is not katakana, and it means 'merit' or 'achievement'.
Ohhhhh! Sure enough, now that I know what word to look for:
http://chineseculture.about.com/library/symbol/blcc_kungfu.htm
(Or, if you want a really exhaustive analysis, Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kung_fu) has a big ole' thing on the word)
The first kanji threw me, it matched the two kana characters so well! Thank you! That was driving me nuts! :goofygri: So I guess it can be iterpreted either as the typical kung-fu=martial arts, or literally: "a man's achievement". I still wonder why they use that form of 'man' though... some cultural subtlety that goes over my head, I guess. Maybe because it means something like "devoted man", as kung-fu implies working hard to perfect something. Anyway, interesting! Thanks. : )

As for why they're slightly wrong on the show, I dunno... the Korean animators would know better, I think, but the character designs are by an American, and they really are supposed to stick to his model, even if it's wrong, I guess. And he probably only had an image of the figure, like mine, LOL! (Thanks for posting that, Jester, it's nice to see it really clearly).

Raph's probably says "INSANE!" hahahaLOL, maybe! Someday I hope to get a better look at it.

Yes I certainly noticed this, and boy was I happy. These Battle Nexus figures came out awhile ago, so Playmates knew way back then about this episode.I got the impression from the designs that the figures came out first. The figures are really detailed, and the character designs, while simplified, are still kind of more detailed than your typical clothing design for animation. And I wouldn't think Playmates would embellish on a character design that much when translating it into a figure. So I think they based them off the figures, rather than the other way around. I'm pretty sure they did that for "Time Travails", too (cuz they had to design Raph's armor from scratch, since the figure had Roman armor, while everyone else had medieval. Playmates would have based the figure on his armor in the show, had it been the other way around).

Now I'm waiting to see the Robo Hunters and Mystic Fury Turtles in upcoming episodes.I think the Mystic Fury TMNT will be supported by the new Video Game. I saw the trailer.*nodnods* And there's some really nice character art for the designs on some of the video game sites; you may have seen it. They're slightly different from the figures, but the body patterns are still pretty much the same. Oh, heck with it, since I'm flooding the place with images already:

The weapons, though, look really impractical, although they are kind of interesting to look at.
(I don't remember where I got the pics of the figures from. Pardon me if I shouldn't have posted them, just yell)
And I also might add that whomever sculpted the heads for these things should be given a good shaking, to hopefully instill some sense. Ick!

Ugh, I agree. Not one of those expressions puts me at ease for these figures.
Leo looks the most normal out of the lot... yeesh.
Don looks... constipated :dead:
Raph looks like he got hit in the face with a pipe... tooth apparently missing... wonky angular grin...
Mike... ... tongue. :dead: Enough said.

...though the painted (?) designs on their bodies are kinda cool. And the drawn (3D?) versions rock my socks, even if the weapons are impractical. :P

Ok, fine... So you're deeply intuned with the old Leo. Well, I happen to be deeply intuned with the new Leo. I actually understand what he's going through. I don't think you do at all.

I have my reasons for being broody and what not just like Leo.
You say that it disgusts you and breaks your heart to see Leo like this? Well, no ****. Obviously those who don't understand are easily put off. How about stop moaning about Leo's present state and try being understanding and supportive, hmm?
Leo can break just like the rest of us, and with the crap he's gone through, he was well over due.

I can go on, but I think it's best that you go to the Leo thread and read the posts in there. You'll find some posts (especially from defletermaus) to be enlightening.

Thanks. : )

You're very welcome! ^__^ I wonder about the kanji for 'husband' being used too...but what you came up with sounds good enough for me. :D

Lets see...the biggining fight with Leonardo vs. Raphael and Donatello:

Very good visuals Leonardo is an awsome fighter and I enjoyed seeing him in action against his brothers. I actually got a little hug of elation seeing that even Raphael couldn't touch him. And yes I was aggravated when Splinter stopped Raphael from calling Leonardo on his attitude.

Michaelangelo's Battle Nexus self importance:

Ugh, was I the only one that wanted to slap Michaelangelo for his "I don't need to train" comment. Seriously I was like "ooh no you didn't just say that to Master Splinter" , not only was that ignorant and obnoxious but extremely disrespectful to Splinter who has trained him his whole life and made him what he is:x . I was seriously ready to turn off my television right then and there for that bit of flippancy.

The little Skirmish with Steroid purple guy and big daddy:

Very entertaining and right on que too, these guys have perfect timing and it was good animation. I am always struck with awe on how quick and agile Mike is, and just how much endurance Michaelangelo has and well he takes beatings with out really going down. Also I think this kind of shows that despite Mike's antagistic nature and cocky swagger, he is a rather non-violent and nonconfrontational person, he could have very easily have floored that guy but didn't, and choose to actually try to reason with the guy. He spent most of that little skirmish dodging and avoiding Steroid purple guy instead of fighting back.

I was impressed how ever with his willingness to buckle down and train, I really thought that he was going to stubornly hold to his assertion that he didn't need to train, but he supriced me and lost his arrogance and humbled himself to ask for help. Which the others threw in his face:lol:

Leonardo offers to help...:

ok I love Leonardo no matter what, but i was complelty awed with him for offering to train his brother. My reaction was very similar to Michaelangelo's when he said he would help him train. I think this proves what a caring older brother Leonardo is and how mature he is for not swinging to the others guys (even Master Splinters:o ) against mike and offereing to help him. I not sure why he took Michaelangelo's side but I think he is intuned enough with his little brother to know that most of obnoxious behavior is just bluster and that underneath that Mike is rather unsure of himself and needs some one to believe in him, and that other than his mouth Michaelangelo doesn't really have much distinction among there family and that this battle nexus thing was important to his self esteem.

Rapahel and Donatello's torturing of Michaelangelo:

Ok at first I was amused by their little jabs at the Mikster especially in light of his obnoxious behavior on the roof and what they obviously had to put up with when he first won championship, but I quickly became irratated by them. I mean I was like pfft! get over it already and shut up. I was a little put off to how they kept ragging on Mike and basically calling him a chump that didn't desevre his tittle, and basically delighting in the prospect of him losing. Which I could see actually brought Michaelangelo down a little.

I just kept thinking "ok he was a little mouthy about his battle nexus win, so what why don't you two show your selves to be better people and don't go down to his level and let him fight with you giveing him your support". I mean I was like come on, how often do Raphael and Donatello do amazing things and get credited for it on a daily basis.

Leonardo and Michaelangelo on top of the mountain:

Great interaction between Leonardo and Mike, I liked the dialogue they shared, and just them together was just great and a real treat. Thses two hardly interact with each other or share meaninful dialogue with one another and it was really good to be treated with this. I liked That Leonardo was trying to target Mike's biggest problem:focusing. He was just so intence and passionate that I got goose bumps and to have all that aimed toward Michaelangelo was awsome. It really proved that leonardo respects Michealngelo as a warrior and that he actually believes that he is capable at achiveing things if he tries hard enough. And possibly maybe even that he sees the potencial in Mike and see him more as just a goofy person. Hence his little speech about in this world we only have each other, maybe he wants Mike to take notice and start being more involved like him self so that the family will have a stronger protcetion. We even got to see The intencity of what is driving Leonardo and what has been bothering him.

I was even impressed with how when Michaelangelo was lamenting about the fight and that he didn;'t think he could do it, Leonardo still offered him his support and assurance.

Steroid Purple Guy's and Big Daddy's Dastardly scheme:

To tell the truth I was a little disapointed with the writters making these two dishonarble, to win. I thought that is was a bit of a cop out and an easy way to assure Mikes win, by defining the rematch with black bad and white good. I feel it took some of the mystery of whether or not Michaelangelo would win or not if by doing this. They should have left these two characters alone and let it be an honest to goodness fight between the purple steroid guy and Mike. With them doing that trick with the ring it pretty much confirmed before the match even started that michaelangelo would win because he is the good guy and psycho man would lose:roll: I mean I think they could have still left the safety magic on the ring being removed in there to add drama but I think they could have gone about it in another way. I don't know but I think it could have been handlied in a more ambiguous way. Half my apprication for this show is the sublety that they use and not sticking to cliche black/white way of writting that is rampaent in most toons.

Michaelangelo vs. Steroid Purple Guy:

what ever weak excuse that led up to this fight is completly made up for in this fight. It starts off with michaelangelo getting his ass handed to him, with him really not putting up that much of a fight in my oppion. Now why exactly he isn't given it his all I'm still debateing about. I think that at this point Michaelangelo feels that he doesn't deserve his title and is only making a token effet in this fight, and I think some part of him wanted to lose fairly because I think deep down he believes he won by default no matter how much he bragged about being the champ and that in some way he kind of deserves what is happening. If you notice he was more concerned about just brazening it out enough and then being transported to safety regardless of the fact that he knew that he was in for some major hell of pay back and getting his loss rubbed in his face. Mike wasn't looking for personal glory this time around. At this point I think he was owning up to arrogance.

The second half of this fight Michaelangelo really did shine, when he finnally found the motivation to fight for something other than for his own personal glory and for the protection of his family. At this point Michaelangelo was kicking ass and taking names8) :D. And boy was he glorious, you saw his true athlecticism at work here, especially when he leaped over the guy and then held his head in place with his toes and whipped his nunchukes around and took him of his feet and them and then did a floor sweep kick. And all in one smooth series of movents:o And how cool was it when he kicked the guy at the same time he kicked through his staff.

My favarite part was at the end when Michaelangelo was standing over his oppent with nunchuckes whirling with that "you are so dead" expression on his face. And you know that at this point that Michaelangelo was fully aware of the fact that they safeties where off and that he could take this guys life if he chose to. And he doesn't...I thought this was really cool but nothing less than what I expected from him. I think this shows how strong of character Michaelangelo is and what a strng moral core he has. I thought it was really bad ass the way he just touched him on the forhead and the guy flies backwards. At this point Michaelangelo really does deserve his title and the added bonus of the nobilty of character necklace. I think he knows it too and was actually rather humble about it. I loved that scene where he cradles it in his hand and looks down at it proudly.

Final Leonardo and Michaelangelo moment:

awwwwwww, this was so sweet I loved this scene where Michaelangelo goes to thank him. I'm a succer for touching moments andI thought this was really acted out well by the actors. I liked how touched Leonardo seemed to be by his brothers gratitude. What I great scene, I'v decided I love Leonardo and Michaelangelo moments and want to see more. We got to see a little look of peace in Leonardo that I thinkis all to rare for him now adays, I loved it.

I know the darkness, the rage, the turmoil he harbors. I've been there before, and I still am. I have gone through so much than you will ever know. My life is a constant struggle to battle these dark feelings, and keep them locked away, but I am very good at hiding them. I just don't want to unload my pain onto anyone else, especially those I love and care about.

This is why it breaks my heart to see Leo in this state. It it very devastating to watch someone you love so deeply tear himself apart in the same way I have. Why don't put yourself in that position with a loved one in real life, and see then how much you like it when they start destroying themselves little by little each day? Leonardo may not be a real person, but he is still very special to me, and close to my heart.

For the record, I do, in fact, indentify very well with Fledermaus's posts. They are so well thought-out, and he has wonderful insight on Leo. I can agree to most, if not all, of what he has to say because I can relate to it, for I have traveled that path, and continue to from time to time, but I have a better of hold of myself now than I did several years ago.

Ok, if you do understand what he's going through so well, you would know that it's important for him to release the tention inside. If he suppressed it and faked a smile and forced himself to be the Leo everyone knows and is comfortable with, he would do more destructive damage to himself than what he is doing right now.
Leo is going through a serious change. The old Leo is pretty much gone. At this point he has two options... Allow the proccess of change... or pretend that everything is fine and dandy and force himself to be what people are comfortable with.

Tell me... Should Leo hide behind a false mask? A mask that everyone is used to and can understand just for the sake of making everyone else happy? Should Leo really deprive himself of his own ultimate happiness by "acting" like his old self and supressing his new self because that's what his family wants to see?
Or should he allow the natural flow of change go through it's proccess with no unnatural interuptions... allowing himself to feel comfortable knowing that he can express himself freely and be able to eventually relax and look ahead to the brighter aspects of life?

You say that you keep yourself in check and you're good at hiding your true feelings. Doesn't this seem unhealthy to you? I'm sure you would atleast agree that a person who can truly express themselves fully without worry is usually a happy and free spirited person.

It sounds like you and I aren't so different, Leonardo Mystic...
Unlike Leo, we suppress ourselves and hold back alot. We show little emotion to others and view the world as a dark and sad place.
People like us will never heal. We'll always have those injuries... those scars that will never disappear...

I'm happy with the way Leo is BECAUSE it's the path to healing. Leo unlike us has a chance to live his life just right. It's a long and ugly path... but he will succeed where we failed.

Leo should have a right to express himself. I never said he couldn't. I know all too well how unhealthy is to hide behind a facade, and he shouldn't have to either. I'm just worried the way he's expressing himself in is more unhealthy than keeping it closed up, and I still believe he's hiding something else he hasn't revealed yet. His family doesn't understand what's happening to him because he hasn't said anything at all to them. I think Raph, though, has somewhat of an idea, but I think not even he knows the true extent of Leo's anger. Think about this: If Leo was releasing tension, that would suggest he is dealing with what was bothering him, but he's not. He's simply acting out in anger and aggression.

I try to find little things in life that keep me happy. Writing is one of my greatest outlets of expression. If I could draw, I'm certain that would be another. Contrary to whatever trial I'm going through, I am an optimist. I believe that there's a greater purpose in life for everyone. Leo's going to get through this, but I know a part of him is never going to be the same again. I am not the same person I was years ago. I've changed, in some ways for the better. I deal with the pain better, and I have friends who love me for who I am. I know I can turn to them for support, but I'm still often reluctant to drag them into my troubles.

I feel this whole conflict has gotten out of hand. Opinions are opinions. What one person may perceive, may be different for another, but I have not outright attacked anyone on them. My feelings are not going to change about Leonardo's current state, because I do miss him being happy, but I have always been understanding of him.

EDIT: Welll... on second thought, the more I look at 'em, now, the more I think they may be cel-shaded 3d, then retouched by hand.. but certainly more detailed models than what appears in-game. It's just that some of the shadows seem awfully precise for drawings.
In the trailer, they only give you a glimpse of what they look like in 3d, so I guess we'll have to wait for people to get the game and post pictures.

Yes, this episode was VERY impressive! This, so far, is my favorite episode of the season. I like seeing Mikey's serious side, seeing as his clown persona overshadows his serious one. But even though he may have come through pretty serious at the end, his goofy side really had me on my seat.

Leo: "We're all we have in this world, and if one of us goes down... we all go down... so focus!"

Mikey: "Leo, maybe, just maybe...... I can still forfeit!" *thumbs up with cheesy grin*

That scene had me laughing in hysteria. Anyway, it was nice to see that the Damiyo could still be understanding of all parties, even if he has to make decisions that don't really benefit those of people he is actually good friends with. I felt it was fair for Kluh to have that rematch. It makes things seem even more real (even though we're talking about intergalactic battles, here).

And I could definitely relate to Splinter, Raph, and Donny when it came to wanting to see Mikey get what he truly deserved. Someone mentioned being disgusted with Splinter, Raph, and Don for not wanting to help Mikey, but why? Splinter was teaching Mikey to approach his accomplishments with humility, and it seemed Mikey wasn't understanding that lesson... all it took was for his accomplishment to potentially be taken away for him to realize that message. His boasting could've really gotten his title taken if Leo wasn't willing to train, so Splinter's message would've made a lot more sense to Mikey.

And looking at little Ve-Sama, aw... I'm missing the Ultimate Ninja already, but the little tiger was... well.... I'm not saying that word, so forget it. I'll just say that maybe I'd pat him on the head..... for minutes... just awwing.

And I'm starting to recognize Mikey as one of the most serious fighters among the bunch. It's strange how Mikey is the most off-focused among his brothers, yet he is close to the best fighter, among his brothers. Him beating Kluh TWICE, him defeating a twisted version of Master Splinter in an alternate universe, who just so happens to have superpowers.... Mikey is really starting to glow as the impressive fighter.

And it's nice to see Mikey being serious for a moment. That fight scene with Kluh was pretty intense. Oh, the pounding he took was horrible to look at. It's a good thing Leo's words raged on, inside of him. When Mikey is focused, his style of fighting is very difficult to beat. His quickness, agility, and using his body and nunchuks simultaenously, he's very skilled. I hope we see more of the serious style of Mikey.

ha, um *rubs the back of neck sheepishly and winces* that was me. after reading all these posts saying it was the most hilarious scene i'm not sure why it rankled me so much. it just bothered me. if i was mikey it would've been more like a slap in the face rather than a lesson. like they were being more cruel than justified. mikey was stupid to tell SPLINTER that he didn't need to train & skip out on a bunch of training sessions...so i can see how he would deserve it... *shrug* i don't know, it just seemed so harsh. i felt really bad for mikey. it made me beam & love leo even more when he offered to help.

i'll say it for you :tsmile: the kid was darn cute! :tlove: honestly, if little ve & mikey get together & talk to leo in every episode for the next month, leo would probably be smiling again. i'm all for more ve/nexus stuff! i was really disappointed that usagii didn't show up. wouldn't he want a friendly rematch w/ leo since their last one was so rudely interrupted? it's just weird how he's in the new theme song but he didn't show up in the nexus ep. same w/ gen. ah well. i'm guessing they're saving them for another time. that leo arc, maybe? ohhh, i am so looking forward to that! but anyway...
I hope we see more of the serious style of Mikey.
it is cool to see this kind of character development/strength. i would bet, however, that any of the guys would have the same step-up attitude if their bros were threatened... especially raph. (imagines what would've happened if it had been raph to whom kluh whispered that his bros would be killed... or the new leo... *shudder* poor kluh! lol)

Hehe, consider it "tough love". I think that's the most appropriate method of instructing when dealing with students in a field of ninjutsu. I mean, this style of fighting is very deadly, and you could die if you face others who are more skilled than you in the very style that you're learning. So really, the only way to truly be at your best is through tough love, sort of like the military.

:tlol: Thanks! I didn't want to say it. Last thing I need is metrosexual jokes thrown my way. :ohwell: And I agree, more Ve/Mikey conversations with Leo probably would cheer Leo up a bit more. Maybe kids is Leo's softspot?

No, its alright, Dopp...

Please, everyone, get back to the episode. Psychoanalyzing each other into a lather isn't part of the topic.

I'm sorry. *bows* Is there a way to transfer those posts to the appropriate thread so as to continue? Civilly, of course. :)

Masked Ninja! I love that drawing Ben has in his signature! :D I'd compliment you, Ben, but you didn't draw it, so thhpppt. ;)

And looking at little Ve-Sama, aw... I'm missing the Ultimate Ninja already, but the little tiger was... well.... I'm not saying that word, so forget it. I'll just say that maybe I'd pat him on the head..... for minutes... just awwing.LOL, yes he was, wasn't he? And I was pleased they didn't accidentally put pupils in his eyes, like they did in his first appearance as a child.

Maybe kids is Leo's softspot?Quick! Drag him back to the orphanage and make him stay a week! Maybe that'll snap him out of it! :p

Not that surprising, really.

Like in the original TMNT comic series, Mike has bested Raph not once, but twice, in one-on-one confrontations. In the TMNT RPG published by Palladium Books, Mike is described as the "most talented" fighter of the four (the word "phenomenal" being used to describe him in relation to the others), with a Physical Prowess score head-and-shoulders above the others (Leo, having the second highest, was a full 4 points below him). The original description of the TMNT on the FoxBox website (shortly before the series began airing) describes Mike in almost identical words, as being the "most athletically gifted" of the four brothers, with a "natural talent" in the martial arts.

People really shouldn't collapse personality traits with physical capability. They's totally different manimals.

^ Even if he is the most "physically talented", he is the most off-focused among the bunch. Having very little focus plays a huge part in how you perform. Are you scouting your opponents moves? Are you calculating them correctly so that you could counter the attack? Are you using your environment as an advantage, or can you use your environment as an advantage? In the new series, he lacks in the focus department the most among his brothers.

And I'm not mixing his personality in with his physical capabilities... I'm mixing it in with his physical performance. To be able to balance on bambu sticks shows a lot for a person's (or turtle's) capabilities, and to be able to do that while being goofy shows that your weakness doesn't effect your ability to balance. So I'm not mixing his personality in with his capabilities. His weakness, however, can hurt him in combat. That shows that his personality can actually effect how he performs in combat.

Nah, I'm gonna have to give the Most Unfocused title to Raphael. That's precisely why Mike was able to take him both in sparring and in the Battle Nexus matchups. The dude just couldn't keep his cool.

Don't collapse "focused" and "serious" here, either. Being overtly serious is a detriment in budo, not a benefit.

Also, and I don't mean to be rude here, but mushin has a lot more to do with success in a violent confrontation than "focusing" or "scouting".

It was an ok episode...But I was quite a bit dissapointed...and it was a bit boring......I'm actully starting to like raph more now...
Man was splinter cracking me up ...love when he acts like a jerk lol.
I didn't like the other characters...and Ultimate Dymao(sp) didn't seem like himself still......
Only moment I really liked was when Leo met the young Ninja..very cute
Also liked when Mike kicked that guys ass when he was about dead...very nice!
I still didn't really care for it all though.....I was really into the rat king and next weeks episode which I already saw cause of the dvd...

I liked how Splinter handled Mikey's behavior in the beginning of the ep, because I think in the end it finally got through to him just how obnoxious he had become.

You think Raph would learn to quit being such a sore loser by now. He's becoming a bad influence to Donatello in that respect. Usually Don's the optimistic one of the bunch, therefore he sides with Mike, but clearly he's got his own issues.

But perhaps it's a sign of just how annoying Mikey had been with this whole Champion thing. If it's enough to cheese Don off...

"I know him" I'ma jump on you before someone else does it meaner and angrier. :D

What it boils down to is personality. They know Leo isn't "real," but they feel very strongly about the personality and the way it's portrayed. Obviously they can identify with what Leo is going through and has gone through in the past, and are using those experiences to try to explain his shift in mood.

For example: My personality type is quite a bit like Leo (with some Mikey thrown in) so I can understand why he does a lot of stuff. This new attitude is quite beyond me because I don't tend to stew that bad. Of course, nothing that horrible has ever happened to me before, so... *shrug* So I like to talk about his actions based on what I'd probably do. LM and Ryona were talking about thier own experiences and connecting them back to how Leo may be feeling. However in this case... it got a bit personal. Happens sometimes when you're connecting to your own painful emotions.

So be careful when you dismiss it as "talking like Leonardo is real." It's a little bit deeper than that, and probably not an intelligent thing to say when the people you're talking about are already worked up.

(no offense to you guys, that is ;))

Since I"m getting sick of the childishness of some of the members and I want to keep my thread Flame free, I'll have to ask that we avoid the Discussion of Leo and personal attachments thereof.

Discuss the ep as you please, but Anymore condescendence or arguing (like we've had) will be dealt with by ME. Harshly. Thank you.
