I'm looking at screen caps of the old TMNT cartoon and realized that the new figures really do resemble them. The whole style even in the face is pretty similar. If they had short bandanas, color pads, and the same normal green skin tone they could practically be taken from the old show. Anyone else see this or am I delusional?

That's what I thought when I first saw the figures in the toy store. They only had the four turtles and I didn't pay much attention to the back (and wasn't aware there was a new cartoon) so I thought they were new sculpts of the old show! I got Raph on the spot, and then found out later there was a new cartoon:P

Umm...i guress I can see that..obviously there are a number of minor differences b/w the 2 lines, but I guess I could say that they look more alike than they look different...

Since this thread was sorta pointless, I'm hijacking it.

Anyone know if those action figure plastic case making companies ever made any cases that would fit vintage TMNT figures? I'm thinking either 1988 figures or the generic sized packaging from the mid 90's.

The first series of the new line was a direct homage to the first series of the old line. Look at the turtles facial expressions.

Um, I belive so...i have seen a graded '88 Shredder in a plastic case sell on eBay before...so if Shredd's in one, i'm sure the others from the line could fit as well ('88-89 most probably)..unfortunately I do not have any info on any manufactures of the cases...

I found a bunch at a local comic book shop that fit them perfectly. They were also on clearance and the dude that owned the store said that he has had these plastic cases basically since TMNT became popular in the late 80s so these may have been made for them specifically.

I cannot find a brand name on them. I paid under a dollar for each of mine. There were two versions of it... The cheapest was just clear plastic, but I paid an extra 20 cents I believe, and now sunlight is not supposed to be able to bleach the card. I bought a set for my original ten and my rare turtles... I think the store still has them but I haven't been back in awhile as I've been focusing on the current toys
