Hello there,

First off, a warning: Reader's discretion advised.

I just came across this weird web manga called "PXI - Paper eleven" which is about
14-year-old Maya survives a terrible train accident only to find herself in a strange world where people, places, and souls are made of paper. Now, hunted and alone, she has 11 days to find the bodies, reconstruct the accident, and return home.

Now, it is very, very weird and reminded me of Tsutomu Nihei's BLAME! (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showpost.php?p=295355&postcount=3), and Nihei's works definitely had an impact on PXI. The manga is really... odd. There's not a lot of talking, not a lot of explanation and parallel worlds and all sorts of weird stuff.

If you want a better look at that thing, then visit Clone-army.org (http://manga.clone-army.org/pxi.php?page=1) and read it for yourself.

And please, tell me what you made of it. Mangas like these are great things for discussion and speculation.

There's some great stuff on that site. As far as PXI goes, I read thru it and have NO friggin' clue what happened. But the artwork is fantastic.

Apparently, from what I got, it's all about this girl and that accident there. So, she gets a blow to the head and either sees things or her mind is elsewhere. My guess is, that she is sort of inside her own mind, trying to piece together what happened. So she is off to the quest.

At least I can get the first bit right, having read the whole story. The girl sitting under the tree that takes Maya's name is quite probably her amnesia she gets (she says that she doesn't remember anything somewhere in the story).

And I am open to any new suggestions on the story, since it produced many, many questionmarks floating around my head...

The story seemed weird for the sake of weird, rather than having some deep underlying meaning to it. It was more of a vehicle for the art than any sort of plot, as I saw it. However, the art was nightmarishly beautiful. A couple of pages like 180 (http://manga.clone-army.org/pxi.php?page=180) and 199 (http://manga.clone-army.org/pxi.php?page=199) were as repulsive as they were attractive, to me.

And if I didn't think it already, this manga confirmed it: children are f*cking creepy.

Oh, I believe that it does make sense. I have read a lot of Nihei's work and he had a huge impact on that comic, so I guess it is all planned and stuff.

And there red riding hood in there.
