TMNT Vol4 #24

OK... this is what i've been waiting for. This issue is the closest they've had to a really good TMNT in Vol.4 for such a long time. The whole time I was like "yes...Yes...YES...YES!...YES!!!" As far as I can see they've gone back and started resolving pretty much all of the plot points that have been left hanging, some of them (like the vampires) which have been hanging around for what seems like years. Also good news is the fact that it looks like the Mike in prison thing might be resolved sometime in the new year, judging for Leo's curiosity.

Seeing MechaDon, Gameraph and the vigilante Casey take on the vampires and essentially frighten them into defeat was so incredibly satisfying. It's a shame you don't see more of what happens to them in this issue, but then again, so much happened in this issue compared to previous ones I can't really complain.

Mike's subplot seemed like it was going somewhere but only ended in Mikey getting more beat up and Seri pretending she doesn't know her and we don't have the slightest clue why. This was IMO the most dissapointing part of the issue, mostly because I thought that Mike was going to bust out due to the cover. But this was I suppose only a minor loss.

Shadow's little adventure tailing the rednecks was interesting. Although I never did find Jay likeable at all so I don't really care about what he's doing. The best part is byfar the reintroduction of that wierd alien businessman. Maybe we'll finally know what he was up to... eventually.

The subplot that concerned me the most was Leo's, byfar. Yes! were finally getting resolution for those crazy sword wielding guys that tried to finish off the Foot... Battle Nexus!?

At first I thought the whole Battle Nexus thing was just a nod to the new animated series, but judging from next issue's cover it seems Leo will in fact be travelling to the Battle Nexus. At first I thought "Why? The Battle Nexus is something made pretty much for the new show." But after a bit more contemplation I thought, "Why not? Maybe Leo won't get screwed out of winning this time!" That is if he participates in the beat down festivities after all.

All in all this is possibly the best issue of volume four yet. Or at least the best one in a very long time. It just flows so much better than all the previous issues. Things are actually get done, now that they've finished talking about getting stuff done. I give it a 8/10. It's very good, but no where near as great as let's say... An issue of TMNT from volume 1.

I also thought this was a good issue.

I didn't find Mike's story to be very interesting (he thinks he saw Regenta...the end) and Shadow's story seemed out of left field.

But the bit with the vampires was wonderful. I absolutely LOATHE goths, and to see Laird make a nice brutal jab at them and their vampire-wannabe "culture" was satisfying to say the least. Plus, a plain-as-day Friday the 13th reference in regards to Casey! At last!

Leo's story has FINALLY picked up, and the reference to the Battle Nexus has me thoroughyl intrigued.

All-in-all, a step in the right direction.

The letters page had me worried, though. Laird said he never plans to give the TMNT a conclusion. If anything, the book will either go bankrupt or he'll just get board with the franchise and quit. Thanks, Mr. Laird. Also said he plans to take a 6-month hiatus from the book sometime soon. So that's half a year more to wait for the story to develope. Hopefully they have 6 months worth of Tales stories to carry fans through that break.

I did like that last page Laird drew, with Shredder dueling Leo with lightsabers. Good to see some old school art.

I also liked this issue a lot more than some other recent ones. I wasn't happy at all to hear Laird mention a "hiatus" or his idea to publish TMNT maybe only once or twice a year. Maybe all the criticism is waering down his enthusiasm? I hope not.

Still, books I always hope won't get cancelled always do. He-Man, Fallen Angel, Star Wars Tales, the DW TMNT... sadly, I predict the plug'll be pulled on TMNT inside of three years. I really, really hope I'm wrong. :(

If he leaves TMNT for other writers (as he does sort of with the present Tales), that is'nt new, Stan Lee left all of his issues at one point and they went on to make the careers of Chris Claremont...Marv Wolfman...

It's cause you're reading indy books. Unfortunately of all the comics out there indys usually collapse before any Marvel or DC book does.

This issue was good, a step in the right direction, I liked it. I'd give it a B.

I agree with all of you guys. This issue was a MAJOR step in the right direction. Lots of cool things going on.

1) It's good to see the TMNT fighting en masse again. Hopefully we'll get all 4 of them and Casey in a good old fashioned brawl soon.

2) Leo's storyline, which has been my personal favorite, is FINALLY moving along. I was upset by the fact that Laird had ignored it for so long, but hopefully we'll see some progression here.

3) How cool did that devil looking guy look at the end? I want to find out about him!! Please let him be a villian! This series needs a good old fashioned villain. Especially one who looks as cool as he does.

I'm still not a fan of Mikey's story and I hope he gets out of the prison soon.

Overall this issue was the best since #9.

I liked how there were elements of the current TMNT series put into play

1: Casey was protected from the vampire bite by wearing a casing around his neck made out of Utromidium! No longer is it simply the Kryptonite of the Justice Turtles! :lol:

2: Leo found papers from Splinter about the Battle Nexus! I guess Splinter never got the time to take them to it in the comics. :P

This comic came out last month, right? Man, am I behind. This comic and the two newest Army of Darkness comics I have yet to pick up. Looks like I'll be takin' a trip to the comic book store next week. I dunno how I get notified cuz I have a list of comics for a supscription service at the comic shop I got but they don't notify me or anything when a particular comic comes out. I guess they just expect me to show up. They have this stupid two week deal that if you don't show up within two weeks then they don't reserve the comic. That's the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. Oh well. I guess I'll just go over there next week and see what's up.

this was a great issue but I still hate that damn art work but I'm getting this book for the story now not the art.....to be honest...I've given up on lawson his lines on his art are wayyyyyyy to thick! sorry to anyone who does like it though...but he's really never been one of my fave artists.
Anyway I give the issue 7 outa 8 shells hehe i took 1 point for the art...lairds doing good with the story.

the corny vamps in the begining nice to see them get there asses served to them....I don't get it....whats there deal...nice to see casey in the mas again....i was really scared at first when those brats bit him in the neck....i guess he was wearing some plate thing around his neck......theres allot of action going on so its great for a nice change :) I loved raphs scene he scared the crap out of those stupid posers! hahah
and wow I really like don in the robot body....this is far differnt from the future turtles we've always seen peter drawing but I like it allot.
it was also nice to see fugitoid again even if it was very small lol
poor mike thats all I'll say on that one...that story needs to come to an end..
Hm... you know looking at the leo part the arts not all that bad...thats odd looks like lawson spent more time here.....it was great to see leo going through splinters old stuff...and very cool I like that they are adding the battle nexus to this book I'm sure it will be quite differnt....and nice to see those strange warriors swords are conected to it some how....
And I have to honest the next part with shaddow....I thought it was April at first....thats really bad....he needs to do something with his people...so I can tell them apart....wtf has jay gotten himself into....so odd to since I thought he and shaddow where so close....I do like this part of the story though I think this Xihad thing is gonna be huge at some point in the story!
ok now this is interesting this alien guy we've been seeing for like maybe one panel every few issues is becoming part of the story....and he sure is creepy....and so is the lil robot....I bet it will prolly not leave shadow alone.
well thas it from me can't wait for the next issue as usual it takes so long though ugh! lol
oh I loved Lairds art in the back man do I wish he would draw again!
if I ever had him draw me anything I'd have him Draw Armagon vs. bishop or something crazy like that lol!!!! what would you have him draw?

i just got this issue for christmas, basicly the second half of the series. but i liked this issuue. im so excited for battle nexus. Mikeys story reminds me a lot of "the arena" episode of the new series. I am glad raph and casey got out there fighting more. anyone know when the next issue is out?
