The hype of The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe coming out drove me to go out and by the entire series of books. Getting back into the series I loved as a child.

Anyone else read the books, or planning on it now that the movie's coming out?

I read most of them in 7th and 8th grade. I really enjoyed them! Still prefered to read Paula Danzinger novels instead, though.

I read The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe in elementary school, around 4th grade or so. I'd not thought about it for quite some time, until the previews for the movies started circulating.

I was talking with a friend the other day about the movie, and he ranted about the religious overtones and how it was an allegorical vehicle for Christianity aimed at children. I knew C.S. Lewis had become a converted Christian in his adulthood. And even though I was enamored with the books as a kid, I never once made the correlation. Maybe I was just dense, or maybe it was because the basic themes of the Bible are the same themes prevalent in other myths and fairy tales. I can only guess that you don't notice the correlations unless you're looking them

I didn't make the connection either. But, I had people tell me about them later, as well.

Some people see biblical metaphor in pretty much EVERYTHING, so I don't think much of it.

Some of my all time favorite books. I first read the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe in 5th grade and instantly feel in love. I ended up buying the series and read them all by the end of the summer. I recently got them off my shelf and started reading them again. I'm so excited about the movie.
