post the Urban Legends you've read or heard about from friends,
one good one is:
An old woman was walking her dog and it started to rain, so she had no towels and in fear of her dog catching some disease she put it in the microwave, she had bad eyesight and she went to do something and when she came back... The Dog was fried!

And the old woman got rich by suing the microweave-manufacturer.

And the dog wasn't fried. It was blown up, litterally. Heat made the blood expand and it made the bloodvessels exploded. And that's no urban legend, that's a fact.
Anyhow, there's some stories about a haunted old castle a bit up the hill. But that's bullocks. The only ghosts there are rich people trying to be someone by showing off their "bling bling", because it's a luxurious hotel. But when you're a kid, that story impresses you to no end.
There's some more from my place, but I can't remember them right now. I'll make sure to post them when I asked my brother and the rest of the lot about it.

I know quite good urban legend:
An attractive young girl goes to the disco. She meets a wonderful guy there. They have a nice chat and he offers her a drink. The girl accepts it without any hesitation. She quaffs it and shortly, she starts to feels sleepy... and more sleepy... and then... darkness comes to her mind... and...
... the same girl awakes in the tub full of water - in the bathroom of some cheap motel room. Hang-over pain in her head is enormous, she feels dizzy. She sneaks outta bathroom. She finds all her clothes scattered on the bed. There's a note lying there too. It says:
"You have no right kidney now. Please contact your medicine doctor as soon as possible. Sorry for that inconvenience."
The girl quickly grabs her back and can feel a long, still fresh scar in the place where her right kidney should be...
That means... SOMEONE HAD PERFORMED AN OPERATION ON HER AND CUT HER RIGHT KIDNEY OUT!!!:o MOST PROBABLY THE GANG OF ORGAN DEALERS :o
She contacts the police and all she acknowledges there is that she is not the only victim - there were cases like that before... And these acts are going to repeat for sure... With other innocent girls...
-----
This story is fake of course - it was one of the hottest urban legend I know, especially among the youth in my country. Some of my female friends were scared to death and even ceased hitting the clubs on Friday and Saturday nights

Sounds like a job for Mythbusters! One of the best damn shows out there.
I have a couple friends who are enamored with urban myths, and routinely send them to me in email form. They seem to run more rampant now than anytime I can remember, thanks to the internet. I take great pleasure in dissenting and calling them on their bullsh*t. It's but one of my few pleasures in life.

Me too!
Did you ever hear the one about the cheerleader who needed a stomach-pump because...wait, I'm not telling THAT one!
How about the couple who were smooching in a car when they heard on the radio about some psycho with a hook for a hand that kills couples when they're fooling around in their cars. So, the girl got scared and made the guy, who had "other things" on his mind, take her home. And, when they got out of the car, THERE WAS A HOOK STUCK TO THE DOOR!
Anyone ever check out www.snopes.com ?

this is a great site for them: http://www.warphead.com/modules/news/
anyway about the hook, is the boyfriend the killer or was the killer about to open the car and kill them? im a bit slow :P

No, the hook-guy was not the boyfriend, he was trying to kill the couple until the girl convinced the guy to take her home. Then when they got there, they saw the hook and realized how close they came to death (they didn't realize hook-guy was really out there before).
Oh here (http://www.snopes.com/horrors/madmen/hook.asp). Snopes explains it better than I.

It is said if you chant "Bloody Mary" 13 times into a mirror in a completely dark room (bathroom) while you are holding a candle you will see her over you're left shoulder she will either
1. Kill you
2. Rip you're eyes out
3. Make you insane
4. pull you into the mirror

Candyman, Candyman, Candyman!
And if you really want to know, what Bloody Mary is about, read the Wiki-article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloody_Mary_%28person%29#In_folklore). Can't you just tell the whole story to begin with? Urban legends are only cool when you tell the story that goes with the legend.
... Oh, I forgot, that would require effort. Sorry, I didn't say anything.

Yeah... Right...
Apparently, swigging thirteen "Bloody Mary" drinks alone, in front of the mirror in some dark place makes you drunk and insane (3) and depressed. So depressed that you can even start to bang your head against that damn mirror (4). And (2)&(1) seem to be obvious results of that action. :dead:
So I kinda believe it's not a urban legend, just a sad true. :(

I know a very common one called "The Babysitter" where this girl is babysitting a boy and after she tucks him to bed, and goes down stairs to watch tv. Later she gets a phone call where some maniac claims he's upstairs with the kid and will kill him at a precise time. So she keeps getting these calls and later calls the police to track him down, the police call her back and say it's coming from the house, the killer comes down the stairs. But the police come in and arrest the guy but later he says "I'll call you later" and he laughs evily.
Though this is all fake how could the same phones talk to each other in same house it's impossible, well unless he had a cell phone. :|

Yeah, also the story can have alot of changes but I only know 3:
A: The killer kills off the kid and the babysitter.
B: The kid is pretending he is the killer and tricks the babysitter.
C: The babysitter kills the kid when he's asleep.

Ah, scary thing is the following story was reported as a "true" account. Though there was not really any supporting evidence.
Basically there's this woman who has a dream one night of her close friend dying. She wakes and becomes worried so she phones her up. Her friend answers the call, and assures the woman that she is okay. However, the friend does admit to being unwell recently. She'd only recently been released from hospital and was due to be re-admitted. The woman offers to come over but the friend declines; she said she would call back later. But the woman never received the call, so a few days later she phoned back. This time it was the friend's mother who picked up. Apparently the woman's friend had actually died six months before the last phone call took place.
