Hey people. Just wanted to post this and get some feedback. I've been picking up the VHS versions of the new show since they started coming out a few years ago, mainly because I didn't get around to buying a DVD player until awhile after that. Anyway, I've continued buying the VHS versions mainly for collecting purposes. However, I've noticed several problems with the VHS tapes (besides the ridiculous decision to release the episodes EXTREMELY out of order). Anyway, on my Secret Origins tape, a large portion of "Secret Origins, Part 2" is missing. The part where Shredder (in his Utrom form) steals the robotic suit from another Utrom and where he and the Foot they attack the Turtles and injure Mikey is completely missing. Also, on my "The Ultimate Ninja" tape, then entire episode of "The Golden Puck" is not on the tape.
Obviously these are production mistakes, and seeing as how the majority of people probably buy the DVDs its not widely known, but I still wanted to see if any other fans have encountered this problem, whether these specific ones or others. I really love this show and am saddened to see that 4kids is being so lax about the way the DVDs and VHS tapes are being handled (especially how they keep releasing episodes totally out of order).
In the meantime, I'll just wait for complete seasons of the show to be released so I can watch them in the order they were intended to be seen and not have to worry about switching back and forth between tapes/DVDs.

I don't remember either of those parts being on my DVD version of that either.

Thats interesting. When I first saw the episode on TV I remembered that part specifically, matter of fact I think the Utrom that Shredder stole the suit from was yellow. Anyway, when I bought the VHS it was obvious part of it was missing anyway, even if I hadn't seen the episode, as it goes from the scene of the turtles meeting the Guardians and Utrom to the next episode. It appears that when they cut a commercial break, instead of adding the last part of the episode, the next episode begins. Luckily it gives a minor recap of the previous episodes events, but that just serves to make it even more blantanly obvious about a third of the episode is missing.
As for the Golden Puck episode missing on the Ultimate Ninja tape, I'm more pissed about that because the tape is specifically billed as being 100 minutes long and containing that episode as a "bonus episode". Yet its nowhere to be found. I even fast forwarded through the credits that air at the end of the tapes to make sure it wasn't there, but alas no luck.
I'm just a little mad that I spend my money on a product which is faulty. You could call it everything from a defective product to false advertising, but this is a serious quality control issue. I'm currently trying to find an email address or phone number I can contact about the issue. I assume 4Kids is who I should be contacting, or maybe an outside company who edits and packages the DVDs/tapes. Either way, in both cases I didn't get what I paid for and expect to be able to get replacements for them. If anyone knows who I could contact about this, please let me know.

ask Wayne Grayson on Ninja turtle Network (the actor that voices Mikey). There is a thread where you get to ask him questions and he graciously answers them, and since he works at Foxkids he may be able to point you in the right direction on what to do. However be nice in the way you ask him of course obviously:).
You do have to register in order to post your question however. here is the link to the exact thread that you post on to ask your questions:

I also heard that the VHS version of "Michelangelo's Christmas Rescue" does not include the episodes "Things change" , "Nano" and "The Shredder Strikes part 1" , unlike the DVD version, of which does.

Huh...well I figured it would be on the DVD, and I also assume it was only on a limited number of the VHS versions. I figure they produce the tapes/DVDs in lots, and this particular lot had that portion of the episode missing. As for the entire episode of "The Golden Puck" missing, thats just kind of ridiculous.

Cool, thanks for the links, Sage, I appreciate it.

No kidding? I wouldn't mind that so much as I already have copies of the other three episodes on the original releases of the tapes, but I've yet to see The Golden Puck due to this problem. Oh well, guess I'll just have to nurse my sorrow with this morning's new episode.
In the meantime I'll just wait for the complete season DVDs of the new TMNT to be released. After all, now that the old show is being released by season, I figure it can't be too far away for the new show to get their due in that respect. And I assume that'll be the only way to get the episodes in the correct order (since they jumbled them all up on the single DVD releases). Oh well, I'll just have to wait awhile I guess. Hey, speaking of questions for Mr. Grayson, that'd be a good one, though I doubt he'd have much of the specifics of a season DVD release. Still can't hurt to ask.
Thanks for the feedback and info though, guys, I appreciate it.

Thats looking like the way to go, even though a season DVD isn't planned yet, its only a matter of time before it happens. Hopefully just not too much time.

Hopefully they don't make us wait untill it's considered a nostalgia release.

Agreed...question though, does 4kids/Funimation release it's other shows out of order? Or in season sets?

Winx Club is the only other of their series I follow, and in that instance it's released in proper order with 5-6 episodes per disc. No season sets yet. So WHY IN THE HELL TMNT Isn't in order, boggles my mind.

I totally agree. I hope we'll see them sometime soon.

Good question. I still wonder why they made the decision to start releasing the episodes out of order.

Thats the only thing which bothers me about the releases is the fact that they're now so completely out of whack in terms of episode ordering its completely ridiculous. What 4Kids were thinking with that is beyond me, and its soured me some on buying future releases. I mean I have to since I missed a good portion of Season 3 and the beginning of Season 4 (I'm still catching up on my DVDs, as I think they stopped released VHS version with Volume 16) and I won't be able to see them any other way.
Matter of fact, I'm going to start a thread on how the DVD collections SHOULD have been released.
