The shopping I can handle.... the endless reruns, I can hadle.... people acting like complete jerks when they're supposed to be nice and loving towrd each other... nothing! There is only one thing I cannot stand.....
THOSE Damn Holiday commercials. I mean, seriously.... I know Christmas is commercial, but this is REDICULOUS! Case in point, the "Happy Hondadays" series of commercials in which carollers go around singing about buying cars. These are beyond annoying and not even subtle.
Okay, does anyone recall a 1990's puppet sitcom called "Dinosaurs?" In the holiday episode "refrigerator Day," the characters are watching a commercial in which someone tells them that "This refridgerator day, go out and give the gift that will shine forever. The Gift of paint"... to which a group of carollers sing "we wish you a Happy Fridge day, we wish you a Happy Fridge day, we wish you a Happy Fridge day, so come in and buy paint." Now, that was a satire, but commercials are starting to become just that.

The hole holiday is starting to be just that, I really don't like holidays as much as I used to .
Ita supposed to be a time for caring for others and enjoying the company of your family and friends not to mention well depending on religion your beliefs ofcourse, Instead were being bombarded by advertisements and angry mobs at the mall..:ohwell:

Heh, those bloody commercials are really annoying. And I can't stand all those toy commercials that are on TV all of a sudden. I mean, most of the stuff is trash anyways...
But what really pisses me off is that everybody seems to think that Christmas is all about the presents. I mean, we have a "Christmas presents"-thread but not a "What are you going to do on December 25th"-thread. I think that that's more worrying. I mean, sure I get my family and friends presents, but I tend to get stuff they'll really like and even if it's just a small thing. But I enjoy the time with my family way more than I could ever enjoy a present. I mean, I could get the Guinness Book of Records myself, but it just wouldn't be the same. I wouldn't unwrap it with my Grandma watching and smiling, both of us knowing what it is and that it makes me happy.
But remember, get presents, it's what christmas is all about...

I don't mind the commercials as much as I mind how EARLY they're airing them these days. Christmas is slowly turning into a month-long holiday, instead of just one (or two) days. I remember seeing commercials as early as October, and that's just f*cking insane.

I don't care one way or another. Seeing as I ignore 92% of all TV anyways, it dosen't effect me that much. Like Peanut said, Christmas fu*king rules :D :D :D

The commericals i can handle when i can just change the channel. What i can't stand is when relatives are tearing your head off to get the christmas decorations done even though you're doing them anyway.
Still i can avoid that by being the the first to get them out of the loft which puts me in their good books, so that's one problem solved.

This is also becoming true for me. I guess that's part of growing up. :(

Growing up sucks too. I'm sure Christmas will be nice again once I have kids myself though.

The great thing is that whenever my mom says "Do you really think you can live here till I'm 90?", it sounds like "Well, I'll see what I can do...". So yeah, screw growing up!!!

I don't really pay attention most of the time.
What gets me though, is that my moronic roommate put his tree up over a week before thanksgiving, and since then has played *nothing* but christmas music. Not a damned thing. It's driving me nuts.
But this year, I am looking forward to it. I'm going to have the normal family one, and then I have a yule party with my friends. Should be a good time.

AAAAaaaAAAAH!
How are you still alive?
What i hate about christmas is that it is not about showing your affection to those you care about. Its about buying stuff.
It's - quoting Brazil - consumers for christ...
Which results in chaos, shopping mayhem. All the blinding ugly lights everywhere, the endless masses of people... ...radiating stress. :dead:
and its getting worse every year.

Yeah, right. First off, our children will be competition, not allies in the holiday struggle. They'll want the video games and electronics we so greatly desire. At first they won't pose much of a threat...but they get older...and hit harder.
Soon we'll have to bring a gun to Christmas morning to make sure we keep order. Eventually, they'll wise up, and want a gun for Christmas, too.
It's going to be pandemonium, guys. We're going to create our own undoing...

Aww, hehe.
*hugs* I love ya, Volt!!
Though, you know... you can raise your children all old-fashioned like... Tell 'em electronics come with age. ;) Then you can keep it for yourself. Hehe.

Wise words my friend. Fortunately I keep a shotgun for when little cousins visit us on Christmas.
