PS3 Launch Date...Sorta

Mark March 21st 2006 on your calander coz that could be the launch date for the PS3

the date is for japan but im hoping for a world wide launch (which i dont think is possable)

Yeah Right. Reeeeally. Bullsh1t. No way in hell. Still, nice thought that you could have PS3, Halo 3, and the Nintendo Revolution all in the same November. Either way, June-August, I could maybe believe that, but March? That's funny. Bullsh1t, but funny.

I kind of wish it were true though, and Sony launch in Spring, then late Summer here. That way I wouldn't have to listen to the Holiday Revolution versus PS3 sales doomsday reports the media loves to blow out their ass every 3 months or so. Meh, either way. March = OMFGlololzololz Sony's just saying "Spring Launch" so as to possibly detract some 360 sales this Christmas in the false hope that PS3 is just around the corner. It's bullsh1t. Right after Christmas, they'll delay the hell out of it to make room for Final Fantasy XII and Kingdom Hearts II. I guarntee you they would not launch a system when the two biggest PS2 games aren't even out yet.

Also, after the piss poor excuse for a "Global" launch Microsoft has pulled off, I doubt you'll ever see a 2 week global launch time frame ever again. I still don't have mine, and I was on the "2nd shipment". *******s at Microsoft.

You obviously haven't played God of War, Shadow of the Colloseus, Gran Turismo 4, Socom 3, or Killzone, to name a few.

I think that, when the PS3 comes out, it will be the first time ever that I waited on line for a product overnight to be released.

God of War is just a bad POP clone with a sex mini game put in for sales. GT4 is your standard racing game with pretty graphics, nothing that hasn't been done billions of other times. Socom 3 gets trumped by any PC FPS, and i've never even heard of killzone.

and shadow of the colloseus isn't a sony game, from what i remember, it's from a third party.

Wow, I thought gamers would be more open minded to everyone, righ?

Anyway, God of War has been in development even before "The Sands of Time" was. GT4 is the most in depth racing game ever, and the original pretty much set the standards for how racing games should be. Socom 3 is, in my opinion and the opinion of the 56,000 other people currently online, a good squad based shooter that you can just pick up and instantly play. Killzone is also a good FPS.

One would think that, in a Sony thread, people would do anything but trash Sony left and right. I mean, I like Nintendo, but I'm not going to go into a Nintendo thread and say what you can get on other systems that are on the GameCube (by the way, what awesome releases are coming out really soon for the Cube, eh?). So you might want to grow up and recognize the fact that there are other systems out there that are pretty damn good as well.

on to GT4... i hear no one talking about it anymore that it's out. before? sure. 'best racer ever!' was usually used to describe it. but why? when you get the play mechaics down, you're going to be racing the *exact same race* each time. there isn't anything to switch it up, and it's going to get boring. and when that happens... OH LOOK GT5 WITH SLIGHT IMPROVMENTZ OVER 4!

And my 40,000+ Mario Kart DS players trump your socom 3 players. Oh, and we got those numbers in less time, too (less then a month, and it's not even out in japan yet)... with a smaller installed user base... kinda funny, no?

God of War is just one big over hyped piece of crap that relies on a gimmicky combat system that turns into a standard hack and slash, but tries to cover that up with an extremely cliched story, and tries to present it's mindlessness as 'mature' so it can get sales. Oh look, i just described over half of the PS2's games.

PS2 is my least favorite console of this generation but I'll be one of the first to admit that there are some great exclusive games on PS2. Ratchet and Clank is flat out amazing!

And comparing the amount of online players Mario Kart has versus Socom 3 doesn't make it a bad game, it just makes MK more popular. As far as I know Socom3 isn't even out in PAL regions (but I'm probably wrong on that, it's not my kind of game so I don't keep up with it).

EDIT: Checked out the release date out of curiosity and it's not out till February 2006.

Played all of them. Cared very little for all of them. Shadow of the Colloseus is the only one I liked and that was over so fast I sneezed and almost missed it. Still good, though. And since when was Killzone an RPG? Isn't it a FPS...and a completely sh*t one at that?

There are only two games I've ever completely enjoyed on PS2. Ico and Kingdom Hearts. Everything else is third party and therefore available on other systems, both of which is the better option over PS2 anyday.

But no, seriously. Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing, Super Mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness. They were cool. But then I beat them (except Animal Crossing, but you can't beat it). And then Nintendo pretty much just half assed it and released Mario games and other crappy things (nobody wants to play Pokemon XD). And that, children, is why I am not using my cube.

And since I'm not much of a portable gamer (though I have been taking a liking to Animal Crossing: WW), the DS doesn't exactly thrill me either.

I'd wager to guess RE4 and Killer 7 are both better on the Cube. MGS just sucks everywhere.

I'm for neither GCN or PS2. Xbox won this generation for me hands down. Halo 2, Morrowind, KOTOR, Conker and the many many third-party, multi-platform games, which are always best on Xbox.

Well, the two versions have two different styles from two different teams who specialize in two different fields, so I suppose which version you like would depend on your personal taste in terms of style and presentation.

Well, I work in a video game store, EB Games, and from what I know the PlayStation 3 could be knocked back again past March 2006 due to the fact Sony still intends on releasing a great deal of games for last-minute sales on the PlayStation 2, such as Kingdom Hearts II (thought it is rumored KH II may be a PS3 launch title).
