So, who else is getting this?

I loved the X series... IMHO it's better then the original. The fact that I'll be getting not just 1-3, but all the way up to 7, is huge. Not owning a Playstation, I never had the chance to play any above 4 seriously.

I played every one up to X4. I didn't like anything past that. I'll consider picking this up, provided my funds are okay with that.

Ahhh, the Mega Man X series, is for one, better than the original, and two, caused me to kill two SNES controllers. Now it's going to rape my wavebird unless my ability to control my anger has improves. We'll see. These games are new to me as well as I never played the PSX games.

I heard that it would only have up to X5.

I might get it. I've always loved Megan Man and X is my favourite of the series. I just thought they kind of over did it. There were way too many games.

I'm buying it strictly for Battle and Chase which will be unlockable and the Playstation/Saturn version of X3 which has also been confirmed. Didn't really like the Playstation X games and I really don't like the SNES version of X1.

Watching that Chibi Mega Man on PSP is like watching the ghost of a fallen icon. They ruin everything with their mindless sequels. Damn you Capcom.

I'm getting it.Since, I have Mega Man X1-8 already. But Having 6 X games, on one disc is easier.I'm getting it, on Gamecube and PS2.

One thing, the Voice acting on Mega Man X4 is pretty bad.
Mega Man X5, had no voice acting on the North American release.
Mega Man X6, had Japanese voice acting and english subtiles.
Well there is, a rumour of redubbing the Voices with Mega Man X8, voices for Playstation and Super Nintendo.
As a bonus, option.

Mega Man X8, voice overs the only decent ones were Viles's,Sigma's, and Burn Rooster's, the rest were sort of odd.

ThirdMarioBro

I'll be skipping the voices as there is no such thing as a good Mega Man dub, whichever language. Bad bad bad voice acting. The old games can stay mute thank you very much Capcom.

I'm all over this one. I've been a huge fan of the X Series since a little after it came out in 93. I borrowed the first one from a friend and I don't think I ever gave it back. At some point I was in possesion of all the X games except for 2, but I have no cle where ANY of my SNES games are anymore. So I guess it'll just be so I can have everything in one place. The series peaked at X4 in my opinion (probably because I'm a huge Zero mark), but X5 and X6 are still worth having, if for nothing else than the challenge of the ridiculous levels (with frustratingly easy bosses at the end). ANd of course I haven't played the first 3 in years, so that will be a treat.

megaman was not a robot in megaman 64/legends.

in fact he's a robot in every game.

in megaman, he's a robot, in megamn nt/.exe he's a robot in a computer world.

in fighting games, he's robot. in racing, he's robot.

It was still Mega Man. He was still a robot too. Not fully, but he was still a robot. All the cool upgrades you could get were awesome. The thing that sucked about Mega Man Legends were those crappy dungeon things. Little spaces that looked like crap. Legends 2 was so much better, all the different towns and wide open places. The boss battle with that huge robot in the town was awesome too!

I was just doing some thinking about the X series. There're a couple things I find annoying. One of the biggest is the fact that the music got so bad. The older Mega Man's and even some of the earlier X stuff had great music, but it just got so amazingly ******. That also goes for boss names. Metal Shark Player? WTF! Then there's Zero...what the hell do people like about this guy? Is it the fruity blonde ponytail or the fact that he's just such a generic "bad ass"? I don't get it.

Dr. Doom

I revere the X Series for having some of my favorite music from any video game anywhere (such as Armoured Armadillo's stage and Zero's theme from X4). But really I've found a lot of music in all the games I've played that I can really get into this is one seri4es that I feel has been very consistant with great music (tho the quality may have decreased very slightly over time). You want a series who's music has gone down the toilet, look at Street Fighter. Any of those games, even the VS ones. SFII has argueably some of the best old school game music of anything out there, but over the years it's faded from these outstanding, characteristic themes to unrecognizable cacophonies of electronic or dance music. None of the music from any of the new SF games stands out to me at all. The X games have always had SOMETHING good to offer tho.

Any Capcom game from 1985-1999 had god like music, and the Mega Max X series is near the top of the list, trumpted only by the regular Mega Man games and Street Fighter II-Alpha 3.

And Mega Man X2 was my favorite. Even the artwork was badass. The sprites were badass. The levels were badass. Hell, even the Nintendo Power Magazine cover was badass. Did i mention the game was badass? Fu*k yeah man. I want this disc now.

So far I only have one problem with the collection. It's really hard to play! I almost died on the first level of X thanks to the button layout. It's almost impossible to jump while charging your shot and keep charging because of the akward angle you have to hold the buttons to do so. I haven't changed the button layout yet...but it's seriously annoying.

ThirdMarioBro
01-11-2006, 08:17 PM
Don't tell me that bastards kept the jump button on B and the shot on A?

If so, fu*k that. I couldn't play the last collection for that one move. Oh hell, I'll buy it anyway.

Peanut
01-11-2006, 08:21 PM
A is jump, B is shoot. It doesn't work either way. I'm probably going to put shoot on Y or X, most likely X and change dash to the L trigger. Anyways, I was jumping through the games and noticed some other things too. In X2 the sound effects seem to be messed up, they cut in and out. It's pretty noticeable. Not THAT bad, but it's still pretty annoying. They also took out the voices from X6. Not that I care, because they were those stupid Japanese voices anyways, but they're still gone. Weren't we promised new voice overs for X6?

Edit: OK. I'm getting very frustrated with the controls of this game. It's like the Gamecube controller just can't do it. The layout just feels akward and uncomfortable. I've tried everything. X as shoot, Y as shoot, B as jump, A as jump. I've even tried R as jump. Using R as shoot would be nice...but it doesn't work. You can configure shoot to the R button, but it doesn't work in the game. I just want to play some f*cking Mega Man, but I'm getting totally frustrated. I'm starting to regret getting it for the Cube. I probably should have gotten it for PS2. :(

Edit 2: I've settled on using Y for shoot, A for jump and L for dash. It seems to work alright. It's still not as good as I want it to be, but it'll do. Chill Penguin is the only one I beat so far. He's always the first one I pick for some reason.

ThirdMarioBro
01-11-2006, 09:24 PM
As long as jump can be mapped to A, then I can deal. Cool, I'll buy it now.

The Hadoken worked on Sigma, it was just nearly impossible to pull off. Anyway, I really hate the SNES version of X1. I don't know how you people stand that god awful music in that version. I always stick with the PC version even if I do have to enter a code to get the Hadoken. Can't wait to buy X Collection so I can unlock Battle and Chase. I have no intention of playing the other games on it since I have them all. Also, the NES remakes on AC were all grainy and crappy looking in my copy so that doesn't encourage me to play X Collection much.

Everything, it sounds horrible. The PC version's music is 1000 times better. One of my biggest disappointments was Storm Eagle's stage. The PC version of it is so good and then I heard the SNES version and was like what the hell is this crap? It's unfortunate that the PC version runs extremely poorly on newer computers. Still, I have my old Pentium 1 to play it on.

I love playing Megaman! Even on the 8 bit Nintendo back in the day. The new collection sounds great but commerical. Oh gez, that mom & that fat kid are the uglest ..butt ugly people I ever met. That fat kid needs to run a few dozen laps and get involded in an outdoor activity instead of running around like a dork on caffine playing Megaman.

Kid Icarus
01-19-2006, 01:29 PM
Well, yeah. Of course it's commercial. This is the Videogame Industry we're talking about...

Anyway.

Picked this sucker up last night with a shiney new 1019 memory card (sweet jebus, the storage! I'd filled up a 251 and a 51, plus the other 51 that has my first Animal Crossing town. </end rant>.)

This is great. The games are just how I remember them. The only one I don't care for is MMX5. Now I remember why I wasn't upset when I found out my dad sold that game . X2 is just as hard as I remember, and X is just as simple as I remember..

Now if only I could remember which bosses are weak to which attacks >_<.

My only complaint is that is that, for the first time ever, the GCN controller is uncomfortable. The Dpad is too small for this game, and the Hori SNES-like controlers are a pain in the butt to find anymore. Other then the Dpad, the controller works great. I've got shoot on Y, jump on A and dash on X. I can hold down Y, and still hit both A and X at the same time. Schweet.

Still, if anyone knows of a place that still has the Hori controllers in stock, I'd be your best friend for EVAR! :D

X2 hard? Since when? X2 is by far the easiest of the 6. I did the no armor challenge in it successfully. Only boss I had trouble with was Violen. And yes, the gamecube controller is really not good for X games. I also don't understand how you could not like X5 and say X6 even respectable. X5 wasn't that great but at least it wasn't as horrible as X6.

Yeah, I was pretty shocked that everything sounded so different....I knew about the cutscenes, tho...

Yeah, I borrowed it from a friend yesterday and blazed through X1 and X2 in one sitting....X1 was a nice, nastolgic experiance, and I was able to beat Sigma's final form my first try (I was never able to before). It was easy, too. Just stand up there spamming Rolling Sheild. X2 I never owned, so this I was really looking forward to experiancing again. I remember it being a lot easier than X1, but that may've just been because there's only 2 final boss fights (if you get alla Zero's parts). The Mavericks are all total assholes tho. ESPECIALLY Wheel Gator. I spent a while trying to take down my first maverick, jumping between, Wire Sponge, Wheel Gator, CRystal Snail and Overdrive Ostrich. I think I finally ended up taking down Gator first tho.

I'll probably post more about X3 once I play thru it...

I dug out my old SNES and popped in Megaman X (after Turtles in Time of course) and had one goal in mind. To finally beat the game, after owning them game since it's first year released, I was going to finish what I started over 10 years ago.

And yeah, it was easy. I have mad Megaman skills now, so I think I'll get this collection. I always wanted to play X2 but I don't think I have yet. I just bought the original megaman collection for PS2, haven't played it yet because I wanted to beat X first.
