Steve Blum as Raphael

Does anyone else think that in the new movie, Raph should be voiced by Steve Blum(the same guy who did the dub voice Spike from Cowboy Bebop, Mugen from Samurai Champloo, and Kazuma from s-CRY-ed). I think he'd be perfect.

Definitely not, because Raph needs a hardcore NYC accent, although his brothers don't seem to have it.

Michael Sinterniklaas (Leo) is either Dutch or Finnish (I have yet to figure out the surname origin and all his bio says is that he's from Europe). That might be the accent you hear. He came to America when he was 10.

I know his surname is similar to the Dutch word for St. Nicolas (Santa Claus) :P

Hmm... I knew he was "from Europe" but it's interesting to know he came to America at 10. That's definitely old enough to have a sticky accent. I still love his Leo.

Going from the name, it is clearly Dutch. But then again, names have known to be exported to other places. And yes, I am absolutlely sure of that. Finnish names contain more ä ö ü sounds and Czech names have all sorts of weird accents which Sewer Bull can probably explain to you. But dutch has sounds like the double-a and "Klaas" is the dutch from of the German name "Klaus".

I think Blum would make a good choice. He's got that brooding loner tone to him, I think that's what Raph needs more than the New York accent.

My vision for the TMNT's voices are:

Leo: Will Friedle(Terry McGuiness from "Batman Beyond")
Don: Billy West(Nearly everyone on Futurama)
Mikey: Jess Harnell(Sewer Urchin on "The Tick" and Wako on "Animaniacs")
Raph: Steve Blum

And on topic, yeah, Blum would make a pretty good Raph. The Brooklyn accent thing has been a trademark since the first movie, butit always semmed out of place amongst all the other characters.

I always love it when Blum's voice pops up somewhere because, since Cowboy Bebop was my first encounter with his work, I always imagine Spike in a soundbooth reading the lines. Which made MEgas XLR ten times funnier.

ThemanthatwouldbeRaphael, you have a really long SN. Also, this Steve Blum fella looks good on paper at least. I'm not familiar with anything he's done.

I am not knowledgeable of voice actors. I don't know who is who, or who would be good for what. I do know that I like to hear an emotive voice, as opposed to simply a "cool character" voice. I don't mean that I want people weeping, but I want subtleties in the performance. I don't care how great your Brooklyn accent is if you can't do much more than speak the lines.

You often just don't get anything near good enough with celebrities who are used to acting as much with their bodies as with their voices. (If they can act and aren't just famous because they have a nice rear end.)

If there's one lesson I've learned over the years, is never count out voice actors. The can adjust they're voices to suit any part(especially the pros like Jim Cummings, Billy West, and Phil Lammar). They even rule in on-camera acting, just rent Comic Book: The Movie and you'll see what I mean(99% of the cast is made up of voice actors).

That would probably be why several of my favorite actors (they're all relatively obscure) also do voice work, although I know them from their work in front of the camera.

I've not heard Blum's voice, but if he's a good voice actor he can do it. Heck, Frank Welker is like a V.O. God. He wa sthe voice of both Tokka and Rahzar in TMNT 2, and they both have their unique variations.

Oh yeah, I'm familar with alot of her work. Daphne on whats new Scooby Doo, Frankie on Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Kimiko on Xiaolin Showdown.

Steve Blum would be an awsome Leonardo I think. He just has that cool leadership quality to his voice. And he makes any character so damn sexy **shivers**. But now that I think about it, I think he could do a good bad ass version of Raphael, based on his work as Mugen from Samurei Champloo, he would give Raohael that bad boy sex appeal.

For the other turtles I say:

Jeff Bennet as Michaelangelo

Phil Lamaur as Donatello

I just they don't stero type their personalities, and just make Raphael the pissed off one, or Leonardo the up tight one, or Michaelangelo the dumb joker one, or Donatello the dull nerd. I want subleties here on these characters.

Your be surprised what obscure cartoon voices Steve Blum does. He has minor roles in quite a few cartoons and you probably won't find him. Anyway I could see him as Raph.

Those are some good suggestions, Phil and Billy are both great potential Don's. As for Bennett , I could definatley see him as Mikey...or Leo, or Don, or Raph. They man is so talented he could do all 4 TMNT.
