After twelve years as head writer, Ken Penders is leaving the Archie Sonic The Hedgehog publication, he will be replaced by Sabrina writer Tania Del Rio, and Ian Flyyn, better known for his work on Sonic fancomics.
Hopefully this freshens the comic up and takes it back to its' roots, I've long wanted Sonic to just reunite with Sally and return to the core basics of Satam, , Sonic vs Robotnik/Eggman. Bottom line.

Hmm..last Sonic Comics I read was where they finally defeated Robotink then it became like Freedom Fighters. I have Issues 1- ...I have to look back even the silver edition of "Sonic VS Mecha Sonic."

I've only read the new stuff (previous 15 or so issues) and I've been pleased with the format. My only experience with the "classic days" is the SatAM cartoon, but I've liked seeing that the characters have grown and progressed a bit.
My only complaint is that Sonic needs to stop sleeping around. He's coming off like a real man-whore.

Hes' been like that for five years, thats' the point, the comic was becoming a romance novel.

Exhaggeration.
But yeah, there was an issue not too long ago where all these different chicks send letters in to a "Dear Abby" parody and they're all pouting over their failed relationships with Sonic. Sally, Amy, Mina...at one point Bunnie was actually hitting on him...now he's hooked up with some chick named Fiona Fox or something.
I think Zarious is right about the "romance novel" parallel. Sonic's a bigger man-whore than Green Arrow.

Amy hasn't so much "gotten together" with Sonic as she has "Psychotically stalked him at every waking moment".

Its' a love/Irritant relationship, Sonic and Amys' relationship is best explored in Sonic X rather than the games, whilst she is quite possesive of Sonic, he does love her, they go back to being teenagers, there practical best freinds by Amy forcing her on him all these years and Sonic just getting used to it and seeing other traits in her.
I'm primarily a Sonic/Sally 'shipper though...

She'll never get with him, even the latest season of SX revelaed the two did'nt hook up like the original series finale made it out to look like, but knowing the writers of the Sonic X comic, a relationship, followed by depraved artists drawing romantic sexually inticing scenes will probably follow.
I hope the SX series lasts, those writers could do some seriously good things with idiots like Chris...maybe have him lose an eye...

Or have the Ku Klux Klan bury him alive so he can puke up birds with drill-heads.

Interesting. While the comic could stand to improve on the writing, I quite like both the current status quo and the direction of the series. I'll be quite glad to see the former improve, if the latter remains as if. We'll see.

So with the new writer Flyyn on board, Sonic's Archie run is hoping to get back to the roots of the series. Not only does "The Darkest Storm" three parter and it's build up bring back the characters of Ixus Nagus and Snivley in a new "Segasonic" look to the fold, but the conclusion of the arc implies that Eggman's A.D.A.M battle computer is in reality
The original SATAM Robotnik

I've got a friend who will flip out in joy over this. As for me, i don't give a fu*k anymore. I gave up on Archie, Sonic, and Sega in general after Shadow the hedgehog and the Sammy buyout.

"The Darkest Storm" arc has been the best thing to happen in the comic in a looooong time.
That surprise twist-ending got me all excited. Been a damn long time since the Archie Sonic comic had me excited about anything. It used to just be "Oh boy. Another month, another story about Sonic and his love life..."
Now it's pretty kickass.

I had no idea Sonic the Hedgehog was still being published after all these years! Wow, what a run...
My memory is pretty clouded, but the last issues I remember reading were back in the mid-90s, where the artwork changed significantly and the main characters always faced off against -- if my memory serves me correctly -- green robots? Does anyone else remember this?
