Since most of us who were fans of the old series are adults now I would like to see an adult focused TMNT toy line. Something like a Marvel Legends meets Todd Mcfarlane. Superposable with tons of detail. Each figure should also come with a detailed display stand that connects with other stands for one large display.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

hehehe... it's called the TMNT statues.

Just messin'. I don't think that they'll be making any rushes to seal the deal on Adult oriented toys, basically because that Marvel and McFarline have much more of an adult following than TMNT. Besides, unless you deside to go that route, there aren't very many ways you can make a TMNT figure.

However, I would like to see different varients from the new show/old show/comics to be made into great display toys. (I.E. SaiNW, Issue 1, Fully detailed toon toys, movie line, etc.)

For a fan girl so many naughty things could go through my head right now. BUt to go on topic, you mean those highly expensive statues? Or maybe a more adult/dark comic?

I doubt Adult-Oriented toys will ever be released by Playmates.

Keep it PG-13 people, you know what he means.

If only Peter and Kevin had sold TMNT to Marvel, we'd have Marvel Legends style TMNT, if it took off well.

I'm with you guys on that one. I've wanted something like that for a long time. Imagine just how cool a detailed and highly articulated shredder could look...

That custom looks awfully familiar. I believe a fellow 'Dromer worked on that and posted a topic on it a while ago. Ironic how I was the only one to recognize it.

Yea, I recognized it as well...if i recall, they explained in detail how it was made (who made up all of the major parts- I think Magneto is in there somewhere)

As far as adult tmnt figures go, as long as PLaymates owns the property I highly doubt they'll ever go that route...I bet the statues are as far as they are willing to go to "appease" collectors...but who knows? hopefully I'm wrong...

Luckily I saved the post from when the guy originally showed it!:D I don't know his name though (AND I DIDN'T MAKE IT, I'm only posting this for information purposes):

"Thanks for all the kind words, to hell it was a fun custom to make! imagine me sitting at my desk cutting dozens of those little spikes out of toy packaging and having difficulty choosing the best ones because they were so crap

Heres a link to a few WIP pics, as some of you G-D members have already seen http://com4.runboard.com/btheaustra...andfanfics. t5

Ok i'll try to make a walkthrough of how i did it (hope it helps!);

1. Get base figure marvel legends namor figure and magneto cape, namor is the perfect base figure, the black pants means less painting for me, the eyes on the figure are perfect for shredder, just adjust the eyebrows a bit.

2. pull the head off (yes, the head is of namor with helmet/mask sculpted on) and start cutting at the hair and the ears off, sculpt the mask first, then the hard part is the helmet, in the WIP pics, you can see that i used green stuff (dries rubbery) for the mask and blade thing on the head, but the actual helmet was made of milliput (surface can be smoothed with water), its real hard to explain how i did it, just take your time i guess...

3. body, fairly straight forward as far as painting goes, but i did put some green stuff between the muscles so i wouldnt get that retarded muscly look, those who have namor know what i mean.

4. Armour/padding/spikes, this is where i got really put off and almost stopped continuing on this custom, the armour is again made of milliput, sanded alot because when initially sculpted it was pretty dodgy. make sure you know what size your spikes are going to be and get something of the same size and stab it into the putty in the right places, once done, they will be so much easier to glue the spikes in once the putty has dried and you have cut all the spikes.

5. the flap under the belt was made of green stuff because it dries rubbery, its good to use in that area because the legs would constantly be in contact with it during posing/playing.

6. The cape, when i ripped off the cape from mags, the joining parts were broken, so i used green stuff and sculpted it to join together and then painted it with a mixture of black and purple paint.

7. paint it!

Thats it, easier said than done, i did all this in the space of 2 months, added that its only my second custom, anyone can do it, just gotta be dedicated.

the armour was bloody hard, i made it out of milliput, while it was drying, i stabbed the places where the blades had to be put so once everthing was dry, it was easier to glue them in place."

You know... I both believe and won't believe that this could be an idea for them. If they made them a certain way, to make them more Comic specific and sold it directly to comic shops, there would be a reason for them to make them. I mean, dispite the fact the Simpsons line was sold in a lot of common places, like Target, and looked like a kid friendly line, it still had a large adult fan base. I mean, they did release the Moe's Tavern specifically at video game stores and comic shops.

Not saying this would make a Comic based TMNT line for adults work, but just something to think about.

They certainly could make a collector oriented line, but I suspect there is more profit and less risk in the kid friendly products. Even the World of Springfield line was originally a kid focused line. It was only after the first few series had been released that Playmates realised where the real market for the line was.
