Why was the Archie TMNT Adventures Comics so different from the 1987 TMNT cartoon. The first issues were the same, and the following Archie comic issues had new stories, but the same type of plot (Rat King, new mutants like Leatherhead and Ray Fillet, and new mutant like Chameleon). But then, from when the TMNT went to Japan, they begun to have issues about religions (Demons in Japan, Horsemen of Apocalypse). The Mighty Mutanimals were killed. The Archie comics also had Adolf Hitlers brain in some issues. Why, wasn't the Archie TMNT Adventures Comics aimed towards kids?

I could imagine that it was because the toon was for kids and then there was tons of merchandise for kids and all the kids' stuff. So maybe then they decided to get another, more mature, audience.

Okay, Archies still were really weird, like flying cow's heads and Raph coughing up a bird with a driller for a head after being buried by the KKK... so I guess that kids could have some fun with it too.

WTF!?

So the Archie series was pretty much the cartoon show on acid, I take it?

Still, great minds think alike.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Special #8"

One of the scariest comics ever. It deserves its own thread.

The Archie TMNT Adventures Comics were weird (in my opinion: too weird), yes. Does anyone know if the "Hitlers brain"-issues were released, censored or never released at all in Germany? It's interesting because the PC game "Wolfenstein 3D" was confiscated by German police in January 1994 because of the games use of Nazi symbols and the "Horst Wessel Lied". I live in Sweden, and we had the "Hitlers brain"-issues.

I still have many of the TMNT Adventures Comics, It had a lot of great character developement, For example, When Raphael used to have a girlfriend named Ninjara, Who was quite the fox, No pun intended. :)

The Archie series was the sh*t, plain and simple! What other comic could you find a mutant turtle punch the living daylights out of Hitler and learn of other cultures while still getting to see the villains get bashed to an oblivion? In all honesty, I actually loved the series. A lot of action, a lot of education, but it was just a little too hippy-ish. That was my one gripe... how they used the Turtles to promote their hippy beliefs.

You know, One of the interesting things about this comic was that they had a 4 part story arc that was set in the future with the much more mature Ninja Turtles, This was the story arc where the future turtles was wearing those cybersuits. And Raphael was wearing an Eye Patch due to losing one of his eyes durring a battle with Armageddon, Anyways, In this story arc, He was also paired with a female fox by the name of Mezcaal, The interesting thing is that, On the first couple of pages in part one of this story, You could blatenly see Mezcaal was sleeping with Raphael in the nude when he woked up from a nightmare, Not to say that there was something sexual going on, But I wanted to point that out if any of you all noticed.

Archie is one of the most inspirational TMNT lines of all time, characters that became equally as famous as Eastman and Lairds (Mutanimals, 'nuff said), arcs that found their way into the new cartoon along with the original series (SAINW, possibly even the future arc), and, like the Mirage line, disposed of Shredder early in the game and went their own way, but would still keep him around so as not to forget who was the main issue, they kept him in reserve so that whenever he DID appear, they were f*cked.

The same with Krang, the arc in which he attached himself to Shredders' head is one of the best storylines never used in the original series.

Archie just know what to do with a childrens' line to the extent they dont' deserve to be remembered for JUST the cutey pie Archie and Sabrina lines, they have balls baby.

There is no way that the Mutanimals were as famous as Shredder, The Utroms, Casey Jones...etc. BAD BAD comparison.

Shows what you know....

Several Mutanimals, as stated above, were selling like hotcakes, provoking endless acclaim and the possibilities of a spin off and toyline.

(tsk, with a name like "pwnage", you sure get served to the extent you need changing it to "eternally pwned")
