Mikelangelo, fics, and Latin

Ya know, now that I think about it, it does feel like the name change has created a whole new character. At least to me anyway. A "death" to Michaelangelo and then a rebirth of Michelangelo. Guess I'll see how this new infant hold out in the Turtle world.

Sounds like he/she thinks that because they changed the name, the character also changed... :x

As for titles, I have one called "TMNT 2000". While the number may be outdated and the plot within, let it be known that the idea for this story came about around late 1998 or 1999. I even had dreams of this becoming an arcade game, but doesn't look like that will happen... :roll:

The other was a new idea I thought of only about a month and a half ago. Being the avid Latin student that I am, I decided to make one where Shredder, Krang, and all the foot time travel to the Roman Empire (around the reign of Domitian). The most witty title I could think of is "When In (Technod)Rome".

Latin is not as boring as you might think it is. I too used to think otherwise, but then when I moved to a new school, it was the only remotely appealing foreign language to take (the choices were Spanish, French, and Latin). You learn a great deal of Roman history while studying, MUCH more than what they teach in you in regular world history. It's also been statitiscally proven that Latin students score the best on verbal portion of the SAT. Hell, I wrote an argumentive (sp?) paper in my English class last year saying how Latin is quite possibly the best foreign language to take in high school, despite the fact that nobody speaks it anymore (I got a perfect 100 on it, no joke...I can scan it for you if you'd like).

TO GET THIS BACK ON A TMNT RELATED TOPIC...I'll say again that my second fanfic idea will involve the Foot taking control of Ancient Rome that time will completely alter itself in Shredder and Krang's favor, thus ruining the Roman influence and causing what we call the present to never happen. Don't worry, I won't make it sound like a textbook; it'll have plenty of action and carnage.

As for the first fanfic idea that I mentioned, I will try as hard as I can to not make it "kiddy" or funny in any way. In fact, I hope to implement a part in the story where Krang dies (literally), the Technodrome is completely destroyed (not just battered like it was in "Divide and Conquer"), and many other twists.

I'm giving away too much; I might have already jeopardized my own creativity by revealing what I have... :sick: :sick: :sick:

Besides, Spanish is a Romance language anyway, so you might as well say that I'm learning early Spanish (amigo comes from the Latin amicus, which means "friend").

2) I never said I or anybody else in Latin class took it SOLEY for the purpose SAT prep, you moron. I just used an example of how beneficial it was by giving a statistical fact. It does more than just prepare you for a standarized test; in the end it might help you write a better resume, help you understand what the doctor is talking about without having to tell you in layman terms (many medical terms are almost direct Latin and Classical Greek), and in general it can help you write a better English paper. Take me, for example: ever since I started taking Latin my sophomore year, my writing has improved a great deal....and I mean GREAT deal. I've even impressed my English teacher from last year with some Latin (she always used to joke around with me about it). Hell, I just remembered that out CALENDAR is based on the ancient Roman version. Blah blah blah...

Tokka, I can safely deduce you as a mirror image of Stifler from the American Pie movies: doesn't have a clue, only worries about the moment, and has no appreciation for education. Razordude, You still have not convinced me that Latin is a beneficial language...Unless you are really bad in English, you can get yourself more confused and learn Latin. I guess I should learn the language though, cause like you said, it is good to know what the doctor is talking about and I am not allowed to ask him myself what anything means, and I go there so many times a year... :roll:

Spanish is the most useful foreign language. First of all, you said you hear it so god damn much? That should mean that you should learn it...Plus, by about 2020, the U.S will probly be bilingual or mostly spanish-speaking...Therefore you might want to get a head start, rather than learning a dead language that could help you out at the doctor's office...
